SOA demo app

I am trying to learn some SOA from the 10g soa suite demo app. I have created the ESB Project "FullFillmentESB" and when I compile there are no errors. When I try to do the step below
In the Application Navigator, right-click the FulfillmentESB project and select Register with ESB > SoademoIntegServer, where SoademoIntegServer is the name of the connection to the integration server. When registration is complete, JDeveloper displays a confirmation dialog.
I am getting the error,
Entity Deployment Failed
error code 1001:5
summary: Failed to create service "FedexShipment"
Fix: ensure that the (a) Repository is available (b) The connection information for the repository is valid. verify the detailed cause of the error if available. Contact oracle support if error not fixable.
Could any one please help how to resolve this?

I get a similar issue.
Entity Deployment Failed

The zip file is in the Oracle\SOA\integration\esb\oraesb\deploy folder.
In Oracle\SOA\j2ee\home\log\home_default_group_1\oc4j\log.xml, it looks as though it is dying after resolving the location of the FulFillment_OrderFulFillment.wsdl. But it was successful with the 4 before it...

• Where did Component Explorer and Demo Apps go?

When I try to go to the
Demo
Apps page, and try to open Component Explorer or Dashboard (or
etc), I have trouble. For instance, I click
Component
Explorer and end up at an intermediate page, where I click
Experience the
application
But as it is loading, I am redirected to the
Developer Center instead.
I'd really really like to use the component explorer right
about now, but for some reason, it seems the demo apps don't load
anymore.

Component explorer is here:

I'll look into that link that redirects to the same page.

• Flash with chroma key demo app

Hi I trying use the chroma Key demo app methods for choosing a colour, I have distilled the app down so that i can choose a colour and save the picked colour, the problem i have run into is turning on the LED flash while the app is running, all the methods
that i can find don't tie in an obvious way because the only activate the LED flash when taking a picture or if video is recording.

Any help really appropriate.

the only activate the LED flash when taking a picture or if video is recording.
This is correct. Flashlight apps run the video cam to turn the light on. The
TorchControl class is available through the video system.

• J2ME dev tools for simple demo apps

Hello community,
I 've been using Java for a long time and recently got a project involving j2me. Its mostly apps for demo purposes, therefore there is not a lot of logic/network traffic involved. For example, one app is a bunch of screens guiding the user throught different text blobs and pictures. It is very similar in structure to browsable content, with links and forms, just like a very simple HTML site.
I have always used netbeans for developing java, and it seems that it has some neat tricks for create ME apps. You can use a nice drag and drop design mode that also auto-gens code. But I have found a tool like http://www.cascadamobile.com/ , in which you write simple HTML/js pages that link to each other and then this thing will generate the j2me code from that. That would be exactly what I would need for my purpose, save for the fact that the product is Ad-supported, so its a no-go.
Maybe I could make a j2me app as a WML-browsable content so that I would just have to compose the wml and then the app would just "browse" them from the phone's memory?
In any case, the question is, are there any fast tools for making simple (mostly demo) apps, in a j2me environment?
Thank you.

RealBasic, Metrowerks Codewarrior, you might find some references on http://developer.apple.com/ and one software vendor I know still makes software for it is http://www.lemkesoft.com/
And they might be able to tell you what tools they use.

• Suggested change to SOA demo documentation: frequent mention of soademo_101

Many of the SOA/BPEL/ESB related tutorials tell you that you must download
soademo_101310_prod.zip to get the code you'll need for the SOA demo.
Actually, the *.sql files and othe code which you need is (at least sometimes) in the *.zip
you already downloaded to install the SOA suite project, so perhaps there's never a need to
find such a file. If the contents of soademo_101310_prod.zip are always
contained in the product download, then the SOA Suite documentation pages
should remove references to needing to go find it. One of many such pages

Comments:
-"<servername>" in the above error stream has been edited for security reasons. I'm using the fully concatenated network name which I use in the URL address to access the SOA home page, so I am connecting fine. I do not believe that the server name is part of the problem here. Using "localhost" or "127.0.0.1" does not change the error message.
-if I connect to "BPEL Control" from the SOA Suite homepage as the oc4jadmin user I receive a message saying "No domains accessible to the user logged in" ; if I then proceed to the "BPEL Admin" screen, no domains are listed and I am unable to create any new domains. My current thinking is that my inability to see a default domain listed on these pages is related to JDev's inability to connect to the default domain, but I'm unaware of how to proceed.
-the "default" domain directory exists under ~/bpel/domains where ~ is the Application Server home directory
-I am working on 32bit Linux, using Oracle 10.2.0.2.
-All demo default ports are being used. The default password for oc4jadmin has been changed and I am using the fully concatenated server hostname.
-I am working with SOA Suite 10.1.0.3.4, Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.4 and Jdeveloper 10.1.3.4.0, since these are the releases currently available for download.
-All of the various products are installed under a single base directory /home/oracle with the following product home directories:
ORACLE_HOME /home/oracle/10g
APPSERVER_HOME /home/oracle/OracleAS_10.1.3.1.0
JDEV_HOME /home/oracle/JServer10.1.3.4
SOADEMO_HOME /home/oracle/SoaDemo_Home/SOADEMO
Any help in working through this error would be greatly appreciated.

I have now solved this problem: I upgraded the BPEL database schema to Application Server 10.1.3.4 from the 10.1.3.3 installation level and can now deploy SelectManufacturer without any build errors. Additionally, when I log into BPEL Admin I see the available default domain.
In my initial description of the problem, I had also mentioned that I was unable to access the "default" domain from BPEL Admin; whenever I logged into the BPEL Admin page as "oc4jadmin" I received a
message saying "No domains accessible to the user logged in" . Since the various published solutions for resolving ORABPEL-02052 errors did not work in my case, I decided to try to resolve the BPEL Admin domain access problem.
Checking the <APPSERVER_HOME>/opmn/logs//default_group~home~default_group~1.log , I found several iterations of ORABPEL-03003 errors, e.g.:
08/10/22 14:47:17 ORABPEL-03003
Incorrect db schema version.
The database schema version "2.0.4" from the database does not match the version "10.1.3.4.0" expected by the server.
The database schema currently in place has probably been configured for a previous release; please re-install the database schema and try to start the server again.
Checking OTN Forum, I found a discussion at
Re: No domains accessible to the user logged in Error in BPEL Console
which suggested that this error could be resolved by upgrading the BPEL schema. To upgrade the BPEL schema the following is done:
cd <APPSERVER_HOME>/bpel/system/database/scripts
sqlplus orabpel/<password>
@upgrade_10133_10134_oracle.sql
(Note that other scripts in this directory may be appropriate depending on which Oracle database is being used and which version of the BPEL schema was originally installed).
After running the upgrade script and restarting all of the SOA processes, I found that I could successfully deploy SelectManufacturer from Jdeveloper; that accessing the BPEL Admin screen no longer returned a message indicating that no domains were accessible to the user logged in; and no further ORABPEL-03003 errors were found in the opmn log file. So it does appear that upgrading the BPEL schema solved this problem.
Thanks to all who responded.

• Apex new demo apps not compatible with oracle xe apex: your opinion

Hi,
I post here only to ask why new apps are compatible only with apex 2.2.
Is apex 2.2. so different from apex include in Oracle Xe?
Not so much by me.
Oracle xe under my opinion and as Oracle says as well his an dmbs
that let you grow your organization, but my question again is:
why distribute Xe without an update apex 2.2 ?
By the way i've looked at all application demo built on apex 2.2. and by me they can be built as well using 'apex xe'.
My question again is: is a good politcs build demo apps that runs only on apex 2.2 when Oracle distribute apex xe free to deploy / develop and with apex bundled in it but not upgradable(or better with some tricks i've successfully installed 2.2 on apex, but it's not supported)?
Is so difficult to distribute an Oracle xe version with an up to apex each time and a backward compatibility?
My opinion is that oracle lose a lot of potential and growing user at that time.
Thanx to hear your opinion as well

Hi Chris,
i agree: the point is that under my opinion apex has really a big potential.
This potential lies as well in the nr of user.
I've built a quite complex marketing apps that have been used to estabilish our office in Singapore.Without Apex and with my daily task this would be unthinkable at to such an application.
I mean: oracle xe has been built with a really good purpose in mind: let grow little - medium company to medium -bigger.
In the first phase is unthinkable at all for a firm to have:
- an in house group of developer.
- an expensive Oracle commercial licence.
With apex i think you can build (however after a couple of month of few practice):
- very stable application.
- has a really convenient way of deployment (compared with maybe a microsoft access environment with different office version and different pcs...).
- a very very fast way of development that can hide (if your are enough creative and feel confident with Apex) the scripting language for the bost common task based on data logic.
Now again, who lose there is Oracle, why a tool like apex under my opinion can really increased the number of customer that change to Oracle commercial license.
If the free version of Apex isn't supported as the official one, a lot of user could leave the choice of adopting Xe today (only because a demo app at first sight doesn't seem to work), and Oracle10g in the future.
Bye

• Question RE: Button Items and Item Buttons - from "Bug Tracker" Demo app

I've retrieved and installed the "Bug Tracker" Demo app from apex.oracle.com and installed it in my space as I've interest in recreating the custom search bars this application contains (I can't use interactive reports because it appears a bug prevents the ability to remove the "hide column" functionality which is a requirement for me).
I'm perplexed with how the developer of this demo app was able to create an item of type "button" (not normally available as an item type when creating items) and how buttons were created with the sequence value of "Item" versus a sequence number.
How do these interact?
I'm a fairly new developer and as these methodologies are not readily apparent with 3.2's "normal" functionality, I'm quite intrigued to understand how this was accomplished.
I've been looking at this demo app for 2 days in hopes of learning this on my own - still at it but not there yet. Any help you kind folks can provide would be certainly appreciated!
Thanks!
Paul

Dan, thanks for the reply!
I actually figured this out shortly after submitting this post (and confirmed by your post). I had never used a button as "Create a button displayed among this region's items" (versus "Create a button in a region position") before. That apparently is the difference.
My inexperience simply did not allow me to recognize the difference in how apex treats how buttons are created given this choice differentiation.
One more notch in the belt!

• JDeveloper SOA Suite App Server connection issue

I am having an issue in JDeveloper connecting to SOA Suite deployed on an Amazon EC2 instance. From the application server tab, I can successfully create a new app server connection to SOA Suite (all 9 tests in the "Test Connection" run successfully). However, after that when I try to expand the SOA folder under the app server tab, I get a "javax.naming.CommunicationException", shown below. All the other folders (Clusters, Servers, Deployments, Web Services) expand and show the proper information without error.
One thing I notice is that an explicit IP of 10.80.47.145 using T3 protocol is listed in the error, as opposed to the host name of the Amazon EC2 instance over http. But I am not sure how to change that in JDeveloper's configuration for the app server. And it doesn't make sense why that is the only folder that errors out.
Thanks in advance for any help.

We are having the same issue here. We have added an SSL certificate to our soa server, and now when we connect with JDEV 11.1.1.4 it gives us this error. Those that are on 11.1.1.3 have imported the certificate to their keystore in JDEV and it works fine for them, but for those of us on 11.1.1.4, we still receive the same error.
Thanks,

• Error while deploying Spring PetClinic Demo App(with Toplink OR )on OC4J

Hi All,
I am trying to deploy sample app provided with spring framework on oc4j with Toplink as my OR layer, but i am facing issues with the deployment
App fails to start with error finding "org.springframework.orm.toplink.support.CommonsLoggingSessionLog"
this is found in toplink-applicatio context.xml file
i found that this class is missing in spring framework.
please help to get the jar files
Thanks
Raghavendra

i got the class files. actually in 10.1.3 these class files are put in a different jar file spring-toplink.jar
The Main issue here is that 10.1.3 toplink production is yet to be integrated into spring 2.
petClinic will work fine if we use 10.1.3 developer preview edition
Thanks
Raghavendra

• Problems with Dashboard Demo App in Flash Builder 4

I imported the Adobe Flex Dashboard app into Flash Builder 4 using SD 4.1 and selected "Use Flex 3 compatibility mode", but there are still some issues after import.
I'm not talking about having to create the "libs" folder and re-generate the HTML templates. I know why that needs to be done. I'm also not talking about the IStroke and IFill errors you get for the number of arguments to the apply() and begin() methods, as those interfaces changed in Flex 3.5.
But when I get the app launched, the chart datatips are just a black rectangle (no text) and the combobox entry text is invisible.
I'm going to try and fix these, but I thought selecting "Use Flex 3 compatibility mode" meant no changed required?

Here is a simple example. Create a new project in Flash Builder 4 and in the project properties compiler section, select "Use Flex 3 compatibility mode". Then launch the app, hover over a column in the chart and you see black rectangles, not data tips. Why is this and how to fix?

• Setup of SOA demo in SAP backend system

The scenario is the following:
I have found a WS that I want my customers to be able to call in order to query invoice information. The WS is u201CSupplierInvoiceERPByIDQueryResponse_Inu201D and is found using the ESworkplace.
I am using PI 7.0 and I want to use the Service Registry in PI to expose my services. As I understand it is NOT recommended to use PI 7.0 but the SAP backend (ECC) should be used instead.
What are the steps that should be involved?
a) How to locate the WS in SAPBACKEND?
b) How to publish this WS from SAPBACKEND to the PI service registry (SR)?
c) How to make the WS "connected" to the SAP system?
d) How can the customers "consume"/execute the WS?
e) How can my customers browse the SR in order to find the WS? what is best practice?
f) Why are the route through PI NOT recommended - SAP proclaims that PI should be the central processing component in a SAP landscape in these SOA times so why not use PI?
Hope someone can help me out.
Cheers
