SOAP-PI-File scenario: synchronous file pickup possible without ccBPM?
Hi,
is it possible that I pick up a file synchronous without usage of ccBPM? What I'd like to achieve: I'd like to send a filename in the body of a SOAP request. Depending on that filename, I'd like to collect that file on the filesystem and send it back as the message body of the SOAP response. From my understanding, the receiver file adapter can just write files. In my scenario, I'd need the receiver file adapter for picking up a file (which is normally a sender file adapter).
Anybody with a good hint how to achieve something like that?
Best regards
Holger
Hi colleagues,
I am facing a similar requirement.
Provide file content via synchronous Webservice (trigger)
Webservice (sender) <-> PI <-> File (receiver)
Is there a possibilty to use File/FTP Adapter, which is normally asynchronous by default in such a scenario e.g. by using a SAP adapter module.
Or are there any other standard PI functions to meet this requirement.
Otherwise a specific Webservice have to be created which will read the file and return it´s content within the webservice response. Do you see a possibility to deploy such a service on the PI Java server?
Due to development effort I would prefer a standard function instead of creation of specific Webservice.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Best regards,
Jochen

Http to file scenario generate "Acknowledgement not possible"?
Hi.
On PI7.1 we built a http to file scenario and used the RWB "Test message" functionality to test the interface.
Now we get a "Acknowledgement not possible" in sxmb_moni. How can we switch this off.
thanksHi
while sending request use either EO or EOIO for Asynch.
EO and EOIO, processing occurs asynchronously and the client only receives a confirmation of receipt with HTTP status u2018200u2019.

Flat File to Flat File Scenario using File Adapter
Hi Experts,
In my scenario, requirement is Flat File to Flat file through File Adapter in PI. At sender end, we would need to use Sender File Adapter (NFS) and receiver end we would need to use Receiver File Adapter (FTP). File would be coming as a encrypted format, and the file needs to be sent in encrypted format.
Any idea how to proceed with this requirement would be helpful.
Thanks and Regards
SoumyaHi Soumya,
You need to choose the FTP in the "transport protocol" option. Then in the FTP connection parameters choose the option Connection Security and assign the value "FTPS for control and Data Connection". Then the "Command Order" will show up below that option and you could leave the default value itself. If you are using Public private key certificates of X.509 then you could choose the option "Use x.509 certificate for client authentication" and assign the values to the "keystore" and "certificate & private key" fields.
Note: To use the FTP with SSL you need to add the CA certificate to the TrustedCAs keystore view.

FILE - FILE Scenario - output file is not available
Hi
I'm doing simple file - file scenario based on the weblog
/people/venkat.donela/blog/2005/03/02/introduction-to-simplefile-xi-filescenario-and-complete-walk-through-for-starterspart1
In RWB >> msg monitor shows, the message status is successful. But I'm unable to find output file in the directory as I mentioned.
Pls help me where to find.. what is the problem
- Govind JHi Govind,
These are a few things you can do:
Check the permissions of the folder where the file is being generated by XI.
If you are doing Content conversion, please can you just remove it and see if the XML file is getting generated.
Also, please check if it's picked up by any other application when you place it on the server.
I am assuming out here that you are speaking abt the file that is give by SAP XI after processing the incomming file.
Also check default .trc log file in visual admin.it will tell u if there any errors
and also check the permissions of the files generated by XI

FIle scenario error - file not copied to destination folder
Hi,
I am workin on sample file to file scenario.I am using transport protocol as FTP. I had made one system as ftp and placed 2 folders in it, sender and receiver ,wat i am tryin to do is,pick xi_inputfile.xml from sender folder and place it in destination folder.
after completing the settings in IR and ID, whn i am looking in RWB message monitoring, its showing msg status as successful but in the interface it is showing exception.and file is nt copied into receiver folder
I want to know how can I see what is that exception.
Other thing is when I am going in detail of msg , in message content tab it is showing
com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException=Message failed by admin.
Thanks.Reactivate the channel from ID.
Refresh Adapter Engine cache (mode=full) then test by sending new message.
For full CPACache refresh
http://<hostname>:<port>/CPACache/refresh?mode=full
hostname = where xi is installed
port = 5<instance no.>00
Check IR mapping is correct and Ur is having authorization with Basis Team. Unless , resend the message by basis id. -

XI Tunneling - File to File scenario - BIG Files
We have a big size file that we are going to drop using XI.
I have read that we can do tunnelling in XI to improve the performance since we do not have any mappings in XI.
How does this work? Please suggest....
JohnI cannot split the file into multiple files. Our files can go upto 150 MB.
Do I have any other option without spliting the file? How exactly can tunneling help in this case?
What other option do I have as the File is created in SAP and needs to go another UNIX server to be processed?
I initially thought I can use XI to transfer it but now is causes big overhead due to File Adapter being very slow. -
Error in file-file scenario: HTTP response contains status code 503
Hi folks,
I've encountered the foll error in file-file scenario:
Testing file-file scenario (followed the blog: https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/xi/flatFILETOFLATFILE&)
Initially i was hving problems with recvr comm channel, which are now resolved. File is sent successfully but not recvd. I tried to modify the scenario above and change the file type to 'Text' but still got the same error.
I've checked SICF -->default_host/xi/engine , we dont maintain logon data there. when i test the default_host/xi/engine service, it resolves into an ip addr as follows:
http://<hostname>.<domain.com>:8001/sap/xi/engine?sap-client=<clientNo>
(Also, we hv a BW system running on the same server ,which uses a fully qualified domain, while we dont which is why we get the above domain. Im not sure if there are any issues with that.)
and we get the foll error:
Error Code 10060: Connection timeout
If i remove the domain manually, im prompted for userid/pwd and get the foll result:

PrachiHi ,
Look in to this for all errors
/people/krishna.moorthyp/blog/2006/07/23/http-errors-in-xi
The server is currently unable to handle the request due to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server. The implication is that this is a temporary condition which will be alleviated after some delay. If known, the length of the delay MAY be indicated in a Retry-After header. If no Retry-After is given, the client SHOULD handle the response as it would for a 500 response.
Note: The existence of the 503 status code does not imply that a server must use it when becoming overloaded. Some servers may wish to simply refuse the connection.
Possible Tips: Because of J2EE application com.sap.aii.af.ms.app not active
Try to (re)start the application using the Visual Administrator Choose Server --> Services --> Deploy --> View on Application or restart the J2EE engine
The problem is that not all J2EE services can be started by the J2EE. i.e Start the Visual Administrator and select Server->Services->Deploy in the tree on the left. On the right-hand side, choose the Runtime tab page. You see a tree in the right window with all applications if you select the APPLICATION radio button. Check if they are running, otherwise choose Start. Usually the J2EE engine starts all services automatically.

Error in File to File scenario
Hi All,
im trying out the file to file scenario [binary file using file content conversion]from SDN Wiki:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/xi/main&
On the runtime workbench, adapter engine is in red/error status due to error in the receiver comunication channel.
The sender communication channel is working fine. During testing, my file is being picked up and deleted(processing mode set to delete).
I am able to see the msgs in sxmb_moni and in Message Monitoring, the status is delivered.
However, the receiver channel does not show any error msgs at all.
Yday when i tested , i got the foll error msg:
Conversion initialization failed: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Exception: Error(s) in XML conversion parameters found: Parameter 'EMP.Contacts.fieldFixedLengths' or 'EMP.Contacts.fieldSeparator' is missing
However tdy i dont see any new error msgs during testing (no changes made to the recvr channel).
Given that the sender communication channel is wrking, can i safely assume that file adapter is wrking fine. If not, how do i check the status of the file adapter [in RWB, i can see the file adapter and various other adapters(with a grey diamond icon next to them). how do i interpret the status of the adapter?
Would really appreciate if anyone can advice on how to troubleshoot this?
Many thanx!
cheers
Prachi
I hv tried doing a full cpa cache refresh.Hello Prachi ,
I thinks its because of receiver File Processing Parameters,as you are considering here File Content Conversion.
If your structure is like this
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ns1:Proveedor_100011 xmlns:ns1="http://sap.com/xi/webservices/buyordint">
<config>
<directory>c:/tmp</directory>
<filename>dynamicFile3.txt</filename>
</config>
<root>
<string>Header;423423</string>
<lines>
<value>LINE;</value>
</lines>
</root>
</ns1:Proveedor_100011>
Then your content conversion is -
RecordSet Structure: config,root
root.fieldSeparator = ;
root.endSeparator = 'nl'
config.fieldFixedLenghts = 0
config.fixedLenghtTooShortHandling = CUT

I get this process generation failed when i try to build it. The Empty_msg in inputvariable of invoke works but problem is with Charges_msg in output variable.
I am sure its something to do with ns but not getting it to work.

Hi Experts,
I have a simple file to file scenario where file has to be sent to ip address 10.1.2.3 (receiver machine).
So first I tried using NFS , sharing a folde ron 10.1.2.3 , but the sender channel in XI showed error and was unable to find the path.
So I installed Guild ftp pro on 10.1.2.3 .....the scenario was nw working fine...
all was well untill I discoverd
when i had to send a file from 10.1.2.3 wher the file name was fixed with the time stamp
that when I use filename*.txt in the sender channel , the sender channel shows error in the communication channel monittoring..
further posts on sdn concluded that wild character * cannot be used in guild ftp...
ne idea on how I can proceeed further??
are there other softwares like guild ftp?

Help SOAP to RFC Scenario using BPM (Synchronous communication)
Hi,
I am doing a scenario from SOAP to RFC scenario(Synchronous communication). Here I am creating a PM Notification in the SAP system through a webservice.
I am using three BAPI'S here,
1. BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_CREATE
2. BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_SAVE
3. BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT
I am successful in calling the first BAPI from the Web Service. For this I have not used BPM. But to commit the transaction(PM notification in this case), I have to execute the other two BAPI's as well. I have to pass the output of first BAPI to the second BAPI and then execute the 2nd BAPI. And finally have to execute the 3rd BAPI. FYI, 3rd BAPI is not dependent on any output. It has to be executed independently after execution of the first two BAPI's.
How can I execute this scenario? Do I have to use BPM? If yes please let me know the steps in detail. I have not done any BPM scenario till now. So please answer me in detail.
Thanks in Advance,
Vijay
p.s. reward points are mustHi Vijay,
Yes, You will indeed need a BPM in this case...
Based on my understanding of the Scenario u have explained, here are the steps that would be needed.
1. Receive With the Sync-Async Bridge open.
2. Transformation Step (Between the source Request and The BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_CREATE Request)
3. Send Synchronous
4. Fork
5. In one Branch of the fork - Transformation (Between the BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_CREATE Response and API_ALM_NOTIF_SAVE Request)
6. In the other branch of the fork - Transformation (Between a Dummy Source and the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT Request)
7. Send Synchronous (to make the 2nd BAPI Call)
6. Transformation ( BAPI_ALM_NOTIF_SAVE Response and the source Response)
7. Send Asynchronous (to make the 3rd BAPI call)
8. Send the Source Response and close the Sync-Async Bridge.
There might be alternative ways also of doing it...
Also a better design would be to take care of the 2nd and the 3rd BAPI call within the code of the 1st RFC Function Module.

Hi Everybody,
I just tried a simple file to file scenario.
File was deleted and message was seen in sxi_monitor but file is not created in receiver folder.
When checked in RWB, in Message monitoring the message got status as system failure.
Both sender and receiver adapters are shown as configured correclty.
Can anyone say how to rectify this error.

How to handle duplicate messages in J2SE File scenario
Hi,
Is there any way to handle processing of duplicate messages in J2SE File adapter scenario?
Here is the scenario ,
Steps :
1. Engine picks up a message and checks the size of it.
2. Before reaching the checking interval , the adapter(file) was terminated unfortunately.
3. J2SE engine was restarted.
4. Previous file was again picked up and sent as the first time with one msgID.
5. After sometime, same file was picked up with a new msgID
6. System gets only ONE configrmation that file has been successfully transfered.
So we find two messages containing the same file.
I have checked in J2SE doc, there is a parameter called "db.exactlyOnceErrorInPendingState" which is related to DB.
Is there any similar parameter to handle the duplicate messages in FIle Adapter scenarios of J2SE Engine.
Please help me in this regard as it seems to be a new thing in J2SE AE.
