Solaris 10 on 280R with A1000

We have loaded solaris 10 ( 3/05) on our server i.e. Sunfire 280R with A1000 storage connected to it thru SCSI cable. We have addon SCSI card installed in server. Our A1000 is having only one controller.
Afterthat we have loaded sun storage RAID Manager 6.22 software to configure A1000 , we have made slices using RAID 5 & using RM6 utility. While rebooting the server we are getting following two errors & keeps scrolling on screen for about 10 minutes , though we are able to access A1000;
1. Warning : mod_load : cannot load module 'rdriver'
2. /kernel/drv/spark9/rdriver:undefined symbol 'dev_get_dev_info'
Is any solution to above errors? Is any patch / upgrade / firmware etc for above errors ?
Will it recommended to upgrade to solaris 10 or continue with solaris 9. we are using this as a database server with oracle 10G.

FYI, I think Sun discontinued support for the A1000 h/w in Solaris 10... should be documented.
I only mention this in case you want to have Sun support help you... if it works fine, I generally wouldn't worry. But it is a production system, I might have second thoughts about using Solaris 10 with unsupported h/w.

If there is anything else that might help, please let me know. I am currently considering tearing the cluseter down and rebuilding it to test with a UFS filesystem to see if the problem might be with QFS.,

I can understand that it has to do with linking problems...Compiling is ok..
I am working on Solaris 8 machine with additional 3rd party libraries like rogue wave etc..
I have added the library path to the makefile with the -L option & also given the library name with -l option.

SunFire V120 with A1000

OK, we've got a SunFire V120 server with an X6541A PCI SCSI card installed. The card is connected to an A1000 RAID Array with a good quality HVD SCSI cable. The other port on the A1000 has a HVD terminator installed. There are eight 73GB drives in the array, and there are two internal drives running on the server's built-in SCSI. Running Solaris 8 on the server.
So far, I have not been able to get the server to recognize the array at all. If I run a "probe-scsi-all" I get this:

If it doesn't pass at this level you have zero chance in Solaris.
You're probably right.
I have tried swapping the ports on both the A1000 and the SCSI card. But I can't recall the exact effects -- problem is, I am in New Hampshire and the Server is in New York. "Hands-on" debugging is a bit difficult.
I do have auto-boot set to false, so no problem running the SCSI probe. I will probably have to do one more trip down there it looks like. Your suggestion of trying the SCSI probe with the A1000 disconnected is a good one - at least that will isolate to the A1000 or the SCSI card.
I have a hunch there is a hardware problem on the RAID contoller card in the A1000, but no proof yet.
Installed 300 or so patches last night. 50 or so to go. This part needs to get done anyway, even if it doesn't fix the RAID array!

probe the disks from the ok-prompt (either after reset or power-up)

(if you use probe-scsi-all the external disks and the A1000 will be probed as well, which doesn't make sense at the moment).
If the internal disk are visible, boot into single-user mode from CD-ROM (Software 1 of Solaris 8/9, CD1 of Solaris 10) and invoke format to check the disks (-> analyze, non-destructive test).
boot cdrom -sv
Otherwise try if reseating the disks solves the problem.
Is the (internal) SCSI controller visible with show-devs ?
Running diagnostics might be a good idea.

WebLogic 10.3.2.0 (11gR1) on Solaris 10 problems with jdbc

I have Solaris 10 10/09 running on a SPARC machine.
I install WebLogic 11gR1, use development mode (using the SUN 1.6 jvm) and create a JDBC connection to DB2 on another machine using Oracle's XA DB2 driver. The connection test is successful. A restart of WebLogic returns everything is good. I change the connection pool max capacity to 50 (up from the default of 15) in the web interface and save the settings, everything is fine. Then I shutdown WebLogic using the appropriate command and re-start it... only to find that the jdbc connection has failed with the following error:

Modifying the connection in the xml to lower the max pool size back to the default value of 15 doesn't net any progress.
Removing and re-creating the connection doesn't fix the problem. Creating a new WebLogic domain doesn't fix the problem. The only thing that fixes the problem (allows the jdbc connection to be re-created and run successfully) is to blow away the entire WebLogic install, reinstall and re-create the domain. Occasionally even this doesn't help.
This is repeatable like clockwork.
Moving the pool max up to 30 didn't throw the error, but moving to 50 did.

Hi. I've never seen anything like this, and it seems to be something which
the JDBC module is going to be an innocent victim of, rather than a
contributor to... Your best course is to open an official support case.

supports oracle 8.1.7 on major unix platforms viz., solaris(2.6,2.7,2.8),

NTwithsp5, 2000.
BEA jdrivers are having Multibyte character set support (UTF8).
Note : Weblogic server 5.1 with SP10 also supports oracle 8.1.7.

Report Engine crashing on Solaris when report with graph is given.

Hi,
We are using following environment:
Solaris 8
Oracle 9i Report Sevices.
When we try to execute reports having graphs then the report engine crashes with the following exception:
REP-0177: Error while running in remote server
REP-56048: Engine rwEng-0 crashed
The complete crash log is also appendend in the end of this mail.
When I remove the graph from the rdf then reports get exectued fine without any crash. The same rdg with graph works fine on windows NT.
If somebody can help on this, it will be great.

Please try the following
* Modify $ORACLE_HOME/bin/reports.sh, replace "classic"
with "server" in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH for the JVM
* Modify $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwengine.sh, just before the exec
command, insert the following line:
export LD_PRELOAD=$ORACLE_HOME/jdk/jre/lib/i386/libawt.so
In Linux there was a similar problem and the above workaround worked . You can give this a try .

Unattended Solaris 10 installation with jumpstart server issue

I have setup a jumpstart server and am finding it difficult to get a fully unattended solaris 10 sparc 10/09 install on a t1000 client. The console connection to the client goes into interactive mode at the point in system identification when the installer asks if the system is networked or non-networked, and runs a setup of default time zone and date/time. Using esc-2 to advance through the interactive menu it asks if ithe system is on a subnet, for the netmask (which is there as default), asks if the current time is correct, then asks me to confirm that my selections are correct. When I confirm it goes on it's merry way to finish the installation unattended.
My guess is it does not like one of the values in the sysidcfg file being used, but can't seem to see where the problem is. I don't see anything in the table of sysidcfg keywords from the online docs that specify networked or not, and I am using the network_interface keyword to define hostname, ip, default router, netmask and ipv6, and thought that should take care of the networking portion of system identification, also have timezone and time server set.
Could it be that I am configuring an ethernet port that is not connected (bge0)? This computer will be deployed on a DMZ type network, and the jumpstart server is located on a different network our internal private network. The jumpstart installation via the server is done by using a temporary ethernet connection on a second interface of the client. One other note the defined time server is on the dmz so the installation program won't see it.
Any suggestions on what might be causing the interactive installer to kick in?

update. Fixed the problem with date/time by using abrante's suggestion of setting the time server to localhost. Don't get prompted for date/time information in the interactive installer any more.
If I setup the sysidcfg file to configure the ethernet port being used to communicate with the jumpstart server (bge1), using an ip and netmask that is on the jumpstart server network, the installation goes through fully un-attended.
Is there any way to get a second interface (in this case bge0) configured with ip/netmask values that are not part of the jumpstart server's network, using a non interactive jumpstart installation? Using these values in sysidcfg, the only things prompted for during the installation are, Is the system on a subnet, and what is the netmask. Anyone know what the sysidcfg part of the installation does to check the validity of a netmask value given in the sysidcfg file on the jumpstart server?
If need be, I guess the interface could be configured in the finish script.

Grid installation in solaris 10 (sparc) with Suncluster

While installing grid for cluster, node information table appears as blank.. while clicking "use cluster configuration file" option in that screen it shows that vendor clusterware detected. cluster configuration cannot be modified..
If anyone knows how to resolve this problem, please post ur solution or if you have any procedure to install 11g r2 Grid infrastructure for a cluster in Solaris 10 sparc os with sun cluster 3.2, please send me the document to my email id- [email protected]

I would suggest changing the media you burned it on. That always seems to be the issue with things like this. Search the forums for suggestions on what works.

What is the reason for Solaris 10 to be installed with the Sun Java System Application Server (8.2). It is a really old version and gets in the way when I install GlassFish 2.1.1
How does on avoid getting it in the install, and how does Sun stop adding it to the distribution?

Need help building boost_1_37_0 on Solaris 10 U6 with Sun Studio 12

Hi,
Ok, please bear with me here. I've tried many different sets of instructions, and haven't had success with any of them (including the ones at http://blogs.sun.com/sga/category/Boost).
Operating System: Solaris 10 x86 U6
Compiler: Sun Studio 12 (SUNCC version 5.9)
Boost version: 1.37.0
The ONLY part of boost that I need is regex. I've never built external libraries before and building boost on Solaris seems a rather daunting task. So, could someone please explain, as clearly as possible, how do I build the boost::regex library using SUNCC?
I know this is a very broad topic, but since I haven't had any luck with any existing instructions that google turns up, alas I am here.

Note: I don't need any special options, any special, non-standard install paths, nothing. Just a straight, stock, boost install.

First, be sure you have the current patches for Sun Studio 12. You can get them here:
http://developers.sun.com/sunstudio/downloads/patches/
Please install the current C++ compiler patch, the C compiler patch, and the common back-end compiler patch.
You should then be able to build BOOST 1.37.0. The only problem I know of has been filed as CR 6767881, which results in an incorrect complaint about a constructor not being accessible. But I don't think that one affects regex.
If you running into some other problem after patching the compiler, please post enough detail that we can investigate it.
Questions about how to build just a portion of BOOST are probably best addressed to a BOOST forum.

I am trying to Install Oracle 8i under Solaris 8 Intel version with Pentium 4 processor fixed.But iam'nt able to continue after I click "Install" button,the runInstaller exited badly with no response.I was told that even Installing Oracle under Windows P4 is facing the same problem,but on searching I got solution by renaming a DDL file before starting installation.Is there any similar method to do for installing it under p4 processor on solaris intel 8 version.

Cannot create solaris 10 zone with flar archive

Hello,
i'm trying to configure a solaris zones with a flar archive of a solaris 10 system.
i've followed the procedure described here : http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/content/submitted/branded_zones_flash.jsp
whenever i try to create a zone and use: set brand=solaris10 the commit will fail with Unknown brand Missing document.
solaris version is Solaris 10 5/08 s10s_u5wos_10 SPARC and i have both the Solaris 8 and Solaris 9 container software installed.
is there another way to install a zone with the native brand or solaris 10 using an archive of some sort?

I've figured as much as using a whole root zone but i still struggle with the configuration of a solaris10 brand and the creation of a zone config with that brand.
I might be bettor of installing the zone without the flar image and try to copy the needed files and applications to the zone.
I only need the solaris10 brand zone to test the flar image so i can use it to restore the system with flar and jumpstart.
