Solaris 10 support on Sun Storedge 6120/6020

Hi ,
I have bought a SE6120 arrays attach to two Sun Fire 4800 as cluster
shared storage with Solaris 9 OS. I intend to upgrade the OS to Solaris 10. But after find the information at sunsolve.sun.com, it not mention about wether Solaris 10. Hope somebody will provide me solution..
Thanks in advance !!

The array is supported with Solaris 10. The noticeable change from prior OS is that the SAN drivers and packages are included with the base OS. You do not need to add anything as you did for Solaris 9 and 10.

The L280 (or HP SureStore Autoloader 718) contains a DLT7000 drive. There is no reason why the generic SCSI tape driver doesn't support these drives.
If you're asking for software to control the autoloader, a similar software like Veritas NetBackup is required. Veritas supplies a replacement driver.
Now I see why your L280 doesn't work with your HP server. The L280 requires a HVD (High Voltage Differential) SCSI controller. The standard SCSI interface is SE (Single Ended) or LVD (Low Voltage Differential). Neither SE nor LVD are compatible with HVD. You won't see the device and can even damage the device and/or the controller.
Get a HVD SCSI controller (Symbios SYM22802, Part-No 375-0006) or Adaptec AHA-2944UW (not AHA-2940UW which is SE!!).
The Sun labeled HP Autoloaders (StorEdge L9, L280) use HVD SCSI while the original ones (SureStore 1/9, 718) use LVD or SE SCSI.

    Robert,

  • Veritas Volume manager 4.0 with Sun StorEdge 3310 D

I am running into a problem. The vxconfigd deamon always dump core when rebooting.
    Our environment is listed below.
    OS environemt.
         SunOS server1 5.8 Generic_117350-43 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V240
    Software installed.
         Sun Cluster 3.0
         Veritas Volume Manager 4.0 MP2.
    Disk Array associated.
         Sun StorEdge 3310 D.
I looked up veritas.com and find Array Support Library (ASL) for Sun StorEdge 3xxx Series is recommended. But I didn't find this library is running on this server.
Please refer to this following link
    http://support.veritas.com/docs/277923
As our system is one of critical systems and I'd like to confirm that I can follow up this procedure without doing harm things to our system.
    Jeff

    No problem Jeff :)
I took a look at the Veritas doc and you're right it does seem to cover everthing.
Has the vxconfigd core dumped since the start? ie from the moment it was installed?
I have installed VXVM 4.0 with Solaris 8 but without the ASL and this worked ok, I know that's not much help to you but I am not sure the ASL will help. Mind you I have not installed it with Sun Cluster 3.0.

  • Sun StorEdge 3510

    Dears,
    Good day,
I need your support to guide me to configure Sun StorEdge 3510. I have 24 Disks and single controller. I is connected to one host. I want to configure it with the most biggest storage. I want to implement RAID 5 on 11 disks on the first enclosure and the same to the second enclosure with two disks spare each one in the same enclosure.
Can you guide me throw this?
    Thanks a lot.

Wow, it took me about 5 hours to set mine up from scratch and I'm a pretty strong storage guy. Here's an overview of what I did. Most of the info is in the 3510 documentation.
Step 1 is connectivity. Get your host to see the 3510 (FC).
Step 2 - use the cli utilities to setup the IP address on the controller (in-band).
Step 3 - ssh in, setup the RAID and presentation of the luns
Step 4 - rescan on the hosts to see the new luns

  • Solaris 8.0 on SUN SPARC 5 machine.

Can i install Solaris 8.0 on SUN SPARC 5 machines ?
Why can't i find it in the hardware compatibility list ?

Hi Solaris 8 is supported for Sparc Station 5 machines and should install just fine. However Solaris 8 is not supported on 4c architecture systems like the Sparc Station 1's and 2's...etc.
You can find a list of supported systems at the following URL:
    http://www.sun.com/products-n-solutions/hardware/docs/pdf/806-2221-10.pdf
Skip ahead to page 25 if you are looking just for supported machines.

    Hi Surajsid
Do you still have a support contract for this Library ? If it's still showing the same issues after power cycling the drive I would log a call with Orcale/Sun.
Have you changed anything in your backup environment lately ?

  • Maximum Disk-Volume Capacity Solaris 8 supports (SPARC) ?

Any one knows what is the maximum capacity that Solaris 8 on SPARC supports for storage-set ( Raid set, Stripe Set ...)
Can Solaris 8 supports file system up to 2 Terabyes ?
    Thanks

    Yup.

Unless you've somehow maintained a service contract on that system,
    by specific system serial number,
your best bet is to haunt an online auction site (such as Ebay),
and get a replacement cpu or cpus for shelf stock.
Your current OBP patch level is only down two patch levels,
but your kernel patch level is essentially "never patched".
If it were patched better it may have noticed the issue a lot sooner.
    Expect to replace that cpu.

  • Sun Storedge L9 command utility, need to load and unload tapes.

I am looking for a utility that will unload, and reload an L9 Sun storedge.
    I found:
    http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/jsp/descFile.jsp?url=descAll/l9ctl
This utility has some calls that either we don't have, or I can't find:
    loadmedia.cgi
    inloadmedia.cgi
Am I setting this up incorrectly?
Where is this stuff supposed to be?
    I am running on a sun ulta-5, Solaris 8.

    Hello!
Before use, You should small customize script:
    1) Change
    $LibraryHostName="http://l9"; - It's library hostname.
Or set this name in /etc/hosts
    $AdminPwd="12341234"; - password to Library
And, of course, before use this script - you should setup netwotk connection of L9.
Another way - use project MTX.
    http://freshmeat.net/projects/mtx/releases
This program use SCSI commands for control library.

  • Is the Fujitsu-Solaris platform supported (ALL PRODUCTS)?

Is the Fujitsu-Solaris platform supported for Netscape/iPlanet products?
    <P>
Quality assurance (QA) tests Netscape and iPlanet products (Solaris versions)
on Sun SPARC systems with the Solaris operating system from Sun Microsystems.
This setup is the reference platform.
    <P>
If you run Netscape or iPlanet products on a SPARC/Solaris compatible system
(assuming the system is 100% compatible), the product should perform as
described. However, if you discover a compatibility problem on such a system,
Netscape/iPlanet Technical Support typically attempts to reproduce the defect
on the reference SPARC/Solaris platform. Then, if they find that the problem
exists on the reference platform, they will forward the defect on to
    engineering for resolution.

    Yes
We have plan to buy and use Aardvark OEM I2C Host Adapter and use it with LabView2013.
I am searching if this device already has LabView VI's for I2C communication.
I am not sure If we can use the VI's for Aardvark I2C/SPI Host Adapter to Aardvark OEM I2C Host Adapter.
Before we decide  to buy Aardvark OEM I2C Host Adapter we just want to make sure that we can use it.
    Best Thanks.

Couldn't you download the netscape.ldap package (iPlanet LDAP SDK) and put its jars in your app classpath?
The suggested way to replace netscape.ldap package is to use only JNDI calls, but maybe they can not fulfill all your needs.
By the way, you can get the source code for that package in Mozilla.org site.
(Note: if you are using Netscape LDAP SDK for parsing/generating ASN.1 streams including X.509 certificates, try using BouncyCastle instead of netscape.ldap.ber.stream package - I had to modify several classes from Netscape's package that is not meant to handle certificates, but LDAP streams...)

  • How to integrate a Solaris x86 server on Sun Management Center ?

    Hello people,
I want to integrate a Solaris x86 server on Sun Management Center platform.
If I'm not wrong, SunMC doesn't run for Solaris x86, server and client only as console with Java.
In speat of it, I try to install Sun Management Center 3.0 Agent for Solaris x86.
It seems to be ok, install packages, but when execute es-setup script, intents to create the following directory:
    /opt/SUNWsymon/base/bin/sparc-sun-solaris2.8
I supose that in this directory, SunMC will install sparc binary files
At this point, I can't follow the installation and abort it.
Can anybody give me ideas to install and integrate my solaris x86 server on SunMC ?

could you guide please? If you still have a copy of your SunMC media around, the same ["es-inst"|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-2215/command-line-1?l=en&a=view] program you use to install Solaris Agents should work on Linux as well. It autodetects OS type and will install Solaris packages or RPMs as appropriate.

    Hi
From the Unix prompt enter oemapp console(for v9.x). If you are using earlier versions it is oemapp console (for starting the console) and oemapp dbastudio(for starting dba studio)
For starting OMS enter: oemctrl start oms.
    Hope this helps
