Solaris 11 ssh ControlMaster support?

I am trying to run use "net::openssh" perl script, which is using ssh multiplexing  i.e. ControlMaster, and I am getting an error illegal option -- M..., is there any way to turn on multiplexing on Solaris 11 in the ssh client, or we are forcd to compile from source?
perl script used
#!/bin/perl -w
use Net::OpenSSH;
my $ssh = Net::OpenSSH->new(
  host,
  ssh_cmd => '/bin/ssh',
  timeout => 10,
  user => user,
  password => passwd
my @cmd = (ls => '-a');
$ssh->system(@cmd);
The script returns the errors below.
/bin/ssh: illegal option -- M
/bin/ssh: illegal option -- S
ssh: illegal option -- M
Usage: ssh [options] host [command]

unfortunately I didn't find any workaround, Solaris SSH is an old fork of openssh and dose not support the multithreading option. I cant comment on your Solaris 11 > Linux environment, most of our environment's where migrated from 10 to 11.1, and all I can say is Solaris rocks, features you find in Solaris you can find on any other OS in the market just to name a few ZFS, BE, IPS, FMA, SMF, etc..

  • Solaris 10 & Hardware Support

    I understand that Linux depends on the communities support to develop drivers for hardware that isn't supported by the manufacturer. How does Solaris stand with support from manufactures, and support from Sun or popular manufactures. I'd like to install Solaris 10 on my x86 desktop, but if it can't support my nForce video chip then there isn't much of a question that I would stick with Linux.
    Is it possible, specifically for an nForce video chip, to get just video that doesn't necessarily take advantage of graphic acceleration?
    Since nVidia is partnered with Sun to bring some of their high-end cards to Solaris, should we expect to see some of their other hardware supported also?
    I'm curious about other hardware as well, such as Ethernet cards, or sound cards. Is it really feasable to run Solaris on a desktop PC, or does it need to be dedicated Solaris machine that was built from the ground up with support in mind because supported hardware is so scarce?

    The answer isn't easy to find, because the breadth of the
    problem is wide.
    As I write, I'm on an Athlon-64 running a NVidia nForce3
    250 Gb chipset. Does it work? Yes. Does everything work?
    No. There are some parts of the chipset which don't have
    Solaris drivers yet. Unfortunately, NVidia also keeps their
    driver source close and even for Linux they don't release
    the source code. In my case, neither the network nor audio
    drivers are available. It may be difficult to get the Solaris drivers
    ported unless NVidia does the work. AFAICT, that is not
    part of the Sun/NVidia announcement, though I'd be happy
    to be proved wrong.
    A number of sound cards do have drivers. On this machine,
    the NVidia audio driver is not recognized, but I have an iMic
    USB audio dongle that seems to work well.
    For Ethernet, I have an old Rhine-based card (D-Link). A
    driver for this, including the needed 64-bit amd64 driver :-),
    is a available from
    http://homepage2.nifty.com/mrym3/taiyodo/eng/
    Some other vendors offer Solaris drivers directly, so you'll
    find some have more support than others.

  • Whether  the solaris 11 is support gb2312?

    Hi all,
    I use this command in solaris 11
    iconv -l
    The following are all supported code set names. All combinations
    of those names are not necessarily available for the pair of the
    fromcode-tocode. Some of those code set names have aliases, which
    are case-insensitive and described in parentheses following the
    canonical name:

    I want to know whether  the solaris 11 is support gb2312?
    I have a software run on Solaris system ,an the software need GB2312 code support ,on Solaris 10 the software Can be normal operation,but on Solaris 11 there has some problems,so I want to know the Solaris 11 is not support gb2312 code?

    Try the following:
    # pkg search /usr/lib/iconv/GB2312%UTF-8.so
    INDEX ACTION VALUE PACKAGE
    path file usr/lib/iconv/GB2312%UTF-8.so pkg:/system/library/iconv/unicode@...
    Most likely, it will be enough to run the following to install the library:
    # pkg install library/iconv/unicode

  • Does solaris dhcp server support user class

    Does solaris dhcp server support user class(option 77). In my environment, solaris dhcp server seems just ignore this option set in the client dhcp discover.
    Does anybody can help me.

    The clients are all Windows 7 x64 (but I've replicated the problem on MacOS and Solaris clients). The server is Solaris 11 x86.
    For the problem to be the ARP cache, wouldn't the client's MAC address have to change during the reboot (i.e. the change in the client's MAC address is what causes the ARP cache to get confused, and hence the client gets blocked because of the MAC mismatch)?

    For Intel Architecture it is important that the system is in the HCL
    (Hardware Compatibility List)
    The list is available at:
    http://soldc.sun.com/support/drivers/hcl/index.html#S8
    SUN cannot guarantee that Solaris will work on every Intel Dual processor system.Once the machine is tested the machine is available in the HCL list.

  • What versions of Solaris should we support?

    What versions of Solaris are officially supported by Sun? I notice that there are patches available for older versions but the compiler tools are not supported on these platforms.
    We would like to drop support for 2.6 and possibly 7 but only if Sun no longer supports these versions.

    Well, if you are asking what supported Solaris OS that compiler tools will run on, here is the link:
    http://developers.sun.com/tools/cc/support/support_matrix.html
    However, if you are asking what versions of Solaris Sun support, you will need to ask the marketing or try 'Solaris OS' on http://forum.sun.com/

  • How many LUNs does an Solaris Host can support ?

    Hi ,
    Anyone can share, how many storage LUNs does an Solaris Host can support? There is any limits on this.?
    Regards
    Siva

    It probably depends at least some on the type of HBAs, the driver, topology, and most likely other things as well. Instead of dealing with thousands of LUNs on the OS side, I would highly recommend you have your SAN team start provisioning meta devices instead, to cut down on the number of devices (if you are lucky enough to have a SAN team that is). My company allows me to be the EMC and Solaris engineer, and in return all they ask is that I only collect pay for one of the two....

  • Solaris 9 IPSec support

    I am currently attempting to activate IPSecurity on Solaris and I am having a host of issues. I am hoping someone on the forums have done this before.
    Here are the steps that I have figured out:
    1) Create Certificates and add them into the database: I am fairly certain that this has been done correctly since when the in.iked daemon comes up it reads in my CA certificate and my server certificate that I have created.
    2) Edit the /etc/inet/ike/config file. I have edited this file but there is an odd thing here. Looking at the man page it says that I should be able to do use AES for the phase 1 SA. However when I use the key word for the aes it tells me it is an error. <Question> Is the AES support only on 10? Is there away I can tell the version of the in.iked daemon I am working with?
    3) Activate the in.iked server with the config file. I have done this and used the -p2 -d options so I can see the log file that goes with it.
    4)Update the /etc/inet/ipsec.init file: I have done this but here is another instance that things do not make sense. I create a phase 2 proposal devoid of all encryption algorithms and the default one came up. It only had AES and Blowfish. There was no Triple DES option available even though in the man page is there. <question> how do I get the version number of the ipsecconf command.
    5)I then use the ipsecconf command to suck in the ipsec.init profile. I have done this successfully with AES and can do a list display.
    Usage<<<< I attempt to run a traffic from my solaris to my partner machine that matches the phase 2 traffic descriptors however when the traffic arrives it is not encrypted and the solaris did not attempt to negotiate a tunnel.
    When I attempt to initiate a VPN from the other side all I get is parameter mismatch on the Solaris side however the parameters that I have configured all seem to match.
    <Questions>
    1) Is there some better messages available above -p2 -d
    2) Is there a way to initiate a phase 1 negotiation on the SA. ikeadm command does not seem to have that.
    3) Is there a service that I have to activate to start the IPSecurity pieces?

    no.

  • Solaris 10 NTFS Support

    I have heard that Solaris 10 does not have built in support for NTFS filesystems. I have a NTFS-formatted external USB 2.0 drive that will not mount onto a Solaris 10 guest in a VirtualBox environment (Windows XP x64 host). • [SOLVED] ssh-agent support removed from kde-agent

    Hi all,
    Since its upgrade yesterday, kde-agent does not support ssh-agent anymore (see here). I consequently can't store unlocked SSH keys anymore, because ssh-add from a konsole can't connect to ssh-agent.
    The update note above mentions that the SSH agent is not needed by KDE since years. What's the recommended way to start it now ?
    Thanks a lot !
    Aurélien.

    I have been using ssh-agent with KDE on a daily basis for years and AFAIK, there is no better or more convenient way of keeping your private keys available. So in my opinion, the removal of ssh-agent, a tiny daemon that doesn't do any harm yet serves its purpose very well, was a bad idea.
    I found a solution that does not run multiple ssh-agent daemons, even if KDE crashes. The solution is based on the fact that ssh-agent can be used as a wrapper around a session startup script or program. Unfortunately, my solution is very intrusive and will disappear on each KDE update. It works as follows:
    # cd /usr/bin
    # mv startkde startkde-inner
    # cat > startkde <<- HERE
    #!/bin/sh
    exec /usr/bin/ssh-agent /usr/bin/startkde-inner
    HERE
    # chmod +x startkde
    Now the ssh-agent will be started on each KDE session and there will always be only one ssh-agent per KDE session. Comments in the startkde script suggest starting ssh-agent later in the process and then killing it on logout. However, such a solution is inherently unreliable, because it will not kill your ssh-agent when the X-server or KDE crashes. The same problem applies to starting ssh-agent from profile scripts. The wrapper method resolves the issue in a quite reasonable way.

  • [Feature Request] Wap321 SSH/Telnet Support

    Dear Cisco Developers,
    we are facing a problem with your design choice of not to support Telnet/SSH on the Wap321. We bought this Product because it was one of the only Access Points with SSH and Telnet Support.
    We need the SSH Support for a script that changes the WPA-psk key of the interface wlan0 on more then 20AP's every Week. Everything was good until we got hold of a new charge which came with firmware version 1.0.1.10.
    Changelog:
    "Due to security concerns, Telnet and SSH access options are removed in firmware version 1.0.1.10."
    So I talked with the German Cisco Small Business Support and he said he will investigate and try to get it to the Second Support tier. Well it never came to that, he called us two days later and said that is was a BUG to Support SSH and Telnet on the WAP321 and it was never designed to be a Feature.
    So i guess we have following options:
    1.Bring back the SSH Support for the Wap321 in the next Firmware update
    2.Provide Firmware version 1.0.0.3
    3.Give me a Workaround for my task
    So any help would be appreciated and i hope we are not the only ones that would like to see a comeback of this feature.
    In hope for comments
    Best wish

    No Sir I do not.
    According to the response from L2:
    SSH is only enabled for customer to use it on switches.
    Developers normally do not allow SSH (enable or protect with password) for end
    user on any Wireless device. Management is done by web interface.
    In this particular case SSH was enabled only due to some bugs which were
    monitored during first release so it is not meant to be for end user.
    Because of particular security risks, SSH is for troubleshooting by developers.
    Currently there is no chance that they would issue any official firmware for this as
    well as there is a little chance they would create special firmware for just a few
    customers.
    I am sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused.
