[SOLVED] Arch terminal issues

Having some trouble with my terminal in Arch. I currently have Arch running with i3 and using Terminator emulating xterm. Everything is fine except something is causing the terminal instance to wrap the cursor way too earlier (before the end of the columns) and it wraps back to the start of the line rather than the beginning of a new line. I'm not sure how this would have happened or if there is some option to fix this. It works fine when I have no seperate tiles, adding vertical tiles causes the weird word wrap but horizontal tiling doesn't affect it. It's almost like its trying to programmatically figure out the word wrap point but gets halved with you add vertical tiles
Thanks for any help!

• FSCM via WS-RM (without PI ) - Update termination issue

Hello experts .
We are trying to integrate SD with FSCM ( credit management) using WS-RM (without PI).
Details of the issue and steps followed so far.
Ideal Scenario :
Once we create / change a sales order ( in SD ) , the interface Creditworthinessquery_out (WS Consumer ) gets triggered (in SD) and the subsequent response CREDITWORTHINESSQUERY_IN(Provider) is triggered from FSCM (with the details of creditworthiness).Once the query response in received an notification is triggered from SD to FSCM (asynchronous service).
After receiving the query response the functionality of credit check happens while creating / changing the sales order .
Configuration steps followed in SOAMANAGER
We have created end points for all the relevant service interfaces (Providers) , and also created logical ports for the respective consumers.
During the creation of logical ports - for the consumers we used the WSDL (of the providers) as the inbound message action.
(This has been done to all the services query , notification that are relevant in our integration).
Current behavior / issue .
While creating sales order the sales order is not getting saved (getting updated in the database).System allows us to complete the sales order creation process and also we get a message as sales order saved successfully. But then there is a update terminated express document that pops up. Sales order is not getting updated in the database.
When I see the logs/traces in SOAMANAGER I see that the query out is successful , query in has the right response (in warning state though) . But no notification is being triggered ?? 
How to overcome this update termination issue ?
When we see the SM13 log , it points to SLD issue (LCR 010: Internal error in SLD API). why do we need a SLD without PI

Hi ,
Finally we are able to solve the update termination issue . But again we are using a work around .
Situation :
Once we executed the VA01 transaction we were getting update termination issue . After lots of debuggung we found that system was trying to get the Business system details ( Own business system data ) . The table lcrt_clntcache had no values.
Solution
We inserted appropriate values in the Table LCRT_CLNTCACH (business system data ) and now it works .This is a work around we got as of now.Credit checks are happening successfully and also integration is good .
(typically if we define business system in SLD (PI) , and run SLD_CHECK , this table gets populated , but in our case we are not using PI instead we are using WS-RM)
But now few questions arise .
a) Why do we need a business system in case we are not using PI ( typically we define business system and technical system in PI ) and instead using WS-RM ?
b) Is it a good practice to update the table ( as did in workaround above )?
c) Is this any bug and needs to be consulted with SAP ?
Please let me know your views .

• Solving Centro hotsync issues without a hard reset

I have a Centro (sprint). I am running Windows Vista. I cannot connect with hotsync. Whenever I try, I get the following message -- "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again." I went through the article referenced at the beginning of this forum and performed all the suggestions (reloaded Palm desktop 6.2, the outlook 2007 update, soft restart, etc.). I took it to a repair center and they stated the ONLY way to fix it was to do a hard reset which would lose all info. Since I can't hotsync, I haven't been able to backup the phone which means I'll lose everything. I'm hoping there are some other suggestions I could try. It seems contrary that the only way to solve a hotsync issue and save your data is to do a hard reset and lose all your data. Thanks.
Post relates to: Centro (Sprint)

Is your Vista 64 bit or 32 bit?
Try performing a warm reset of your device... Take out the battery press and hold the UP button insert the battery while holding the UP navigator button wait until you see set date and time then release the button. Connect the phone back to the PC and try perform a hotsync.

Facetime is not in the App store. It is part of the iOS. You access Facetime on the phone via the contact section. Facetime needs to be activated in Settings. The only reason you may not have it is if you purchased the device in an area where Facetime is prohibited by law.

Did you have an Adobe trial running on this same computer before? Maybe your previous trial was used for 3 weeks and then you uninstalled it? If so, you're only eligible for a 1 week trial on this computer.

• [SOLVED]Arch Linux, and Windows 8.1 Dual Boot issue

Hi guys. I recently bought a new laptop, and decided to run Arch Linux and Windows 8.1. I installed Windows 8.1 first as recommended by the beginners guide, and then installed Arch Linux. I made sure UEFI was enabled in my BIOS, and made sure everything was on a GPT partition. The install itself went fine. My laptop loads grub, and Arch Linux shows up and boots, but there is no option to boot into Windows 8.1. The only way I can boot into Windows 8.1 is by accessing my motherboard, and choosing to launch the windows boot manager instead of the grub launcher. How can I get Windows 8.1 to show up in grub? Thanks in advance guys.

Yeah I'm sure I'm doing something wrong lol. I did not install OS-Prober. I think that's where the issue is. I'm missing the menu entry in grub.cfg right? Do I just run os prober or do I have to manually edit grub.cfg.
If that's not the case then here is what I did up until now. What I did was start with a blank SSD drive. I used cgdisk to make the disk use a GPT partitioning scheme. I installed windows 8.1 and checked in windows to make sure it boots into UEFI-GPT mode and it does. I then installed arch linux using the beginners guide. I made sure to use cgdisk to create any extra partitions, and installed GRUB to the efi partition that windows had created ( I did not format this partition ). I then finished the installation and rebooted, and Grub only shows arch linux. I don't think I'm dealing with anything MBR related. I made sure I used the GPT partitioning scheme....i think lol.
All you need to do is run os-prober then run grub-mkconfig. It should pick up Windows at that point.

• [SOLVED] The terminal in the Arch installation

I've notice that the terminal in the Arch installation has interesting features: the TAB autocompletion shows lots of information, typing a command and using up/down arrow only navigates through the history of this command... I love it. I'm using Arch with LXDE and its lxterminal does not have those features. Is it possible to install the Arch-installation terminal in LXDE? Or maybe adapt lxterminal someway? Thanks.

Thank you. That solved my same problem as well.
But on my screen the text scrolled by so fast that i could barely read it and I could not scroll up to read the beginning.
how can I pipe the output so that it does not scroll so fast. i thought this was the "less" command but when i typed:
less pacman -Syu
or
pacman -Syu less
I got errors in syntax. I am a noob coming from 1 year using Ubuntu. I have worked thru many errors to get this far in the install.
The forums where down so I was on my own and had to use trial and error and the beginner wiki. im glad now forums back online because i never woould have figured out this klibc error on my own.

• [SOLVED] Arch boots only in terminal mode, KDE doesen't start

Hi.
I would like to ask for your help. I don't know what happened, by KDE doesen't want to start. Arch starts only in text mode - terminal mode. I normally booted my Arch system, saw that on KDE taskbar there aren't any of my added launchers. I though that something is wrong, so i accidentally put hibernation, while in fact, i wanted to do a reboot. After that, i presset reset button, and after reboot my Arch starts only in text mode, terminal mode.
I've been looking for fix, i found that it is maybe related to .xinitrc. Solution over the net and wiki was to copy default from /etc/skel but on my Arch in /etc/skel there aren't any examples of .xinitrc, only 3 files named bash (if i recall it correctly, named bash_profile or something like it).
Don't know how to fix it. Could you help me? It there is a need to post some logs, tell my which one.
When i try to startx logged as a user i see: command not found. The same thing shows logged as a root. There is somethig also - as a root i cannot delete /var/db/sudo/firekage/tty1. When i try to start kde.services with systemctl enable kde.services or systemctl start kde.services i see that sudo cannot read from /var/db/sudo/firekage/tty1 or tty2 or tty3 (if i switch terminals).
I really would like to save my Arch from formatting. Is there a fix? I'm not much experienced with it, tried to learn, read as much as i could but i cannot find answer for it. Don't know why KDE doesen't start at all.

I would like to thank all of You.
I fixed my Arch system because you gave me some directions, and i used them. I started to thinking that tere is something wrong when i saw that my / is mounted as ro. I though that because of this, my all files are closed/locked-up and i can't do anything with them. I had a plan to fix it using some of my knowleadge and your directions.
I booted liveusb Arch system. I deleted my corrupted fstab, reinstalled grub, reconfigured mkinitcpio, generated fstab (deleting the old one, it found my / and added swap partirion), generated grub-mkconfig, rebooted and my / is rw, my KDE shows up, my KDM is woring and i didn't have to format Arch. I have everything that i installed.
There is only one problem that shows: with sudo i can't run kate in terminal. I will try to found solution for it.
Thank you.
BTW - i have now, when updating grub, info that some lines are wrong. I have the same warning on all of my Linux systems (Arch, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Slackware), and it all started after installation of vbox. I think that it is related to this because i didn't have errors while updating grub without virtualbox, i installed it yesterday and now i have errors - the same on all distros with virtualbox.
Cheers!
[You don't know how happy i'm - in fact...i went back home from my family (they wanted me to stay) because i wouldn't be able to stay at them knowing that i broke my system...i know, it is sick, but i'm this kind of person that must have everything working just like i want to, and without fixing it, i wouldn't be able to sleep]

• [SOLVED] Single-line input on terminal issue

On my terminal application, if a command I'm typing is too long, it returns to the position 0 of the same line to continue the command. How can I make it instead go to the next line to continue typing?
I am using Bash.

• [SOLVED] TTY terminal font not displaying correctly

Solved, see Edit 2 for solution.
Begin original post:
Hi everyone,
When I login to any TTY console on my system (i.e. by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F2 and loging with my user name and password), the [user@hostname ~]$ is all gibberish; it looks something like this:
┌─[\[\e[31;1m\]\u@\[\e[32;1m\]\H\[\033[1;37m\]] \n\[\033[1;37m\]└─[\[\033[0;36m\]\w\[\033[1;37m\]]> \[\e[0m\]
Note: The user name and password prompts display correctly, as well as any commands that I enter (such as pacman -Syu), just the text preceding where I enter commands in messed up. Also, graphical terminal emulators such as xfce4-terminal do not have this issue.
I have researched this for a while, and I found a Post that outlines the same issue I am having. Unfortunately, the solution is for init.d and rc scripts, so it obviously will not work with Systemd.
Also, no other distro has this problem on my system, even a clean install of Arch works properly. This leads me to believe that a config file is messed up somewhere.
Does anybody know how to translate the above fix to a Systemd solution so I do not have to deal with wonky virtual consoles?
Thanks
-venividivici24
Edit: I just tried logging in as root, and it worked fine, everything was normal, so maybe it is some configuration file for my user specifically.
Edit 2: I fixed it. The problem happened to be in my ~/.profile config file. A while ago, I had bashish installed, but have since removed it. It left some settings in .profile that caused the console to act the way described above.
All I did to fix this was to change this:
# Termcap is outdated, old, and crusty, kill it.
unset TERMCAP
# Man is much better than us at figuring this out
unset MANPATH
BASHISHDIR="/usr/local/share/bashish" ## line added by bashish
TTY=`tty 2>/dev/null` && if test "x$BASHISHDIR" != x;then ## line added by bashish
test "$BASHISH_OLDPATH"||BASHISH_OLDPATH="$PATH" ## line added by bashish
PATH="$HOME/.bashish/launcher:$BASHISHDIR/lib:$BASHISH_OLDPATH" ## line added by bashish
BASHSISH_CP=437 ## line added by bashish
EST_TERM="$TERM" _bashish_utfcheck && BASHISH_CP=utf8 ## line added by bashish
ENV="$HOME/.profile" ## line added by bashish
export BASHISH_CP BASHISH_OLDPATH TTY ENV ## line added by bashish
. "$BASHISHDIR/main/prompt/sh/init" ## line added by bashish
fi ## line added by bashish
to this (I commented out the commands):
# Termcap is outdated, old, and crusty, kill it.
#unset TERMCAP
# Man is much better than us at figuring this out
#unset MANPATH
#BASHISHDIR="/usr/local/share/bashish" ## line added by bashish

• [SOLVED] - Arch Fresh Install - Errors

I have a few ERRORS from a Fresh Install that I need a bit of help with:
1. I've created a user (larry) and added myself to audio,lp,optical, wheel, storage, video, power, scanner and inserted the password.
But when I try to login with user larry and my password, I am unable to login. (My password is the same as root and I can login
as root.) Is there a way to reset my user password without deleting user larry? I don't want to lose the files I have in /home/larry.
2. In /var/log/xorg.0.log I have an error displayed:
(EE) Failed to load module "fbdev"
I've searched and found that I might also need to use pacman -S xf86-video-fbdev Do I also need to install this package even though
I have the xf86-video-intel (i915 Video Driver is used in Debian 6) installed? Some postings say don't use it as it is SLOW? I haven't
a clue????
3. My .xinitrc in /home/user has startxfce4 enabled, but xfce never starts. But, I can ONLY login as root, and that might be causing the
problem by not using /home/larry/.xinitrc I've only got two partitions on my USB Flash Drive and they are / (1.95 Gig) and also
/home (1.96 Gig). I'd like to get Arch running from USB Flash Drive before I install on a Hard Drive. If I am logged in as root, how can
I get xfce to start
4. I installed the ttf-dejavu fonts with pacman -S ttf-dejavu I got an error stating: mkfontscale: /usr/lib/libz.so.1 Version ZLIB_1.2.5.2 NOT FOUND!
How do I correct this missing lib problem?
I've got my Wifi working via a small script, so far I've kept fixing the errors/problems and I'm keeping a log so I can duplicate the process.
I just need a bit of help getting the above issues solved. When XFCE finally runs as my Desktop I'll be happy.
Thanks.
Larry

1) Congrats.
2) You can remove it, but I don't think it should matter; it will likely only take up a bit of space.
3) Glad that's working. This means X is set up well. If you do find yourself in the TWM environment again, the default is pretty vanilla. To exit I believe you just type "exit" into each terminal, when there are no running 'clients' remaining, TWM and X quit. Alternately, you can Ctrl-Atl-F1 to get to tty1 (or where ever you ran startx/xinit from) and hit Ctrl-C to force-quit X.
Other) X can be fairly verbose. I don't think those warnings are anything to be concerned with, unless they seem related to a feature you are lacking. It is common for programs to try one feature and fall-back on another if it is not available. I suspect the gtk warning is just this sort. I get a boatload of gtk warnings whenever I run many gui apps, but everything works fine. The thunar error is likely because you don't have one of the addons installed. Thunar has many bells and whistles that can be added, and it may be checking for all of them when it starts. The warning says one of them is not there. If it's a feature you want, check out the thunar wiki's and install the required packages - otherwise, I suspect it's safe to ignore.
Do you have Xfce up and running?
