[SOLVED] awful.util.spawn doesn't produce correct symlinks

I'm trying to get an automated symlinking working in awesome, which I'm invoking with:
awful.util.spawn("ln -sfn /home/jack/source_dir/* /home/jack/dest_dir/")
Ie I want all files and folders in /home/jack/source_dir to be symlinked to /home/jack/dest_dir.
When I type in the code into the terminal it works as expected. When I use it in awesome with the above mentioned method though, all I get is a symlink called "*" in dest_dir, but none of the files or folders that are under source_dir.
I tried to escape the asterisk with "\" as well,
awful.util.spawn("ln -sfn /home/jack/source_dir/\* /home/jack/dest_dir/")
but it didn't work.
Does anyone have a clue what I'm missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You know what? Haven't got the faintest. That was a long time ago and I think I was just tinkering. Seems odd to me now, but I'm sure I did have my reasons at at the time.

I have the same problem with my Acer Aspire 5100 (video ATI Xpress1100).
xorg.conf is not used. Turning KMS off doesn`t help.
I have tried to use uswsusp, but it doesn`t help. s2ram -n output correctly identify my laptop, which means it is in "whitelist" and correct settings for this hardware is known. s2ram suspend works, but screen blinking after waking up remains the same.

[SOLVED] urxvt doesn't display correctly some special characters

Hello everyone,
I have a weird issue with urxvt. For some reason it doesn't display correctly some special character.
Here is a comparison between xfce4-terminal and rxvt-unicode (I used theses characters as exemple):

This is what I think is happpening.
PragmataPro may not contain those glyphs. It appears to have a wide array of glyphs but it is not unicode complete.
Xfce-terminal is a vte terminal. When a glyph cannot be found in the desired font, it will find the glyph in the 'closest' font. Urxvt will only use the glyphs in the font or fonts specified. If PragmataPro does not contain the glyphs, urxvt will display boxes.
You can give urxvt a series of fonts to search. It will search for a glyph through the listed fonts in the order you specify. Here's an example from my urxvt configs:

xft:FreeSerif:style=Regular, \
xft:unifont:style=Medium:antialias=false
I couldn't use FreeSerif or unifont as a main font, but for an occasional glyph, it works for me. This file, http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/exam … 8-demo.txt, can be displayed in urxvt correctly, with only a few unknow glyphs showing as boxes in the Amharic section.

Game Center doesn't work correctly

Game Center on iPod Touch 2nd Gen doesn't work correctly under iOS 4.2.1
It shows wrong language (Englist but not my native language. My region setting is right and the system language right too.)
Besides, the "Games" page only has a button "Find Game Center Games", while it should show my Game Center Games.
The Friends page shows all my friends. But when I press a friend the sub page doesn't show the game my friend and I have in common.
I've restored my device several times, but it didn't help.
How to solve it?

I've had exactly the same problem on my 2nd gen since early May when it just stopped working out of the blue.
There are a few threads here on the subject. I believe that every 2nd gen is affected as I've yet to hear a 2nd gen owner say that theirs works.
Other than waiting for Apple to fix it I don't think there is a solution.

WRT54G version 6 - router setup screen via Internet Explorer 7 doesn't display correctly

I've just set up my WRT54G router. I'm able to connect to the internet and I'm able to connect directly to the router via IE but the setup screen doesn't display correctly. I've tried resetting the computer and updating the firmware but it still doesn't display correctly. Almost all of the text is missing except for the Linksys logo and a few drop down menus. Any help/suggestions would be great, thanks.

There a number of things that you can do to solve this problem but most of them involve changing the rules that you have already configured in your ZoneAlarm profile. My preferred solution is to:
-unplug your router from the WAN (why not?)
-turn off zone alarm
-access your router's administration page at http://192.168.1.1
-find the admin page where you can switch admin access from http to https
--- **save your changes !!**
-reboot your router
-plug the WAN cable back into your router
-turn ZoneAlarm back on
-access your admin page at https://192.168.1.1 ( note the 's')
Bob is your sister's brother! Your admin page should work as it is supposed to. Your router and ZoneAlarm should be playing nicely together. You haven't borked your finely tuned zonealarm rules. You were going to bookmark your admin page anyway, and if you want to allow remote administration, you would want to use https anyway. Nothing is broken and you fixed two things. Robohelp 9 WebHelp - Searching doesn't produce any results.

Hi, I upgraded to RoboHelp 9 last week and now searching in Webhelp doesn't produce any results. I've created a new project, used the sample project, tried generating it to a new folder and results remain the same.
When I select the search tab, the status bar flutters with the "Waiting for file...." displayed indefinetly with the occassion display of the javascript: (void);
Screens shots are from the RH 9 sample project. Results are the same with my projects. CHMs generated work fine!
Any suggestions?

You also started a second thread with a the same question. I don't understand how asking the question twice will help so I have locked that thread but created a link to this thread so that anyone with an answer can help you. If there is a reason for starting a second thread, please let me know.

Now to the problem. Searching with Chrome installed works just fine for most people so the problem seems to be local to you. If I have read you correctly, after installing Chrome, the search breaks no matter what browser is used.
Was that checked on other machines or just yours?

Did you also check that search was broken with the supplied sample projects? I know that works with the three browsers being discussed here?
Where was the help installed when tested by you both standalone and from the application?
Questions 2 and 3 are really only related to problems with Chrome. I have not seen anyone report Chrome also breaking the search in the other browsers. There's more to this than meets the eye as Chrome has not caused that problem for anyone else, or at least, no one has reported it.

My EPSON printer doesn't print correctly the colors

Hi, I've an EPSON Stylus Photo R200 installed on my MacBook (OSX 10.4.11)... From some days, my printer doesn't print correctly the colors: I lunched the utility application and I saw that the printer doesn't print the "light magenta" (that's the light pink I think); that's strange, because his inkjet refill is not empty. I tried to do the clean process, but it don't start because there isn't enough ink in another two ink refill (yellow and light cyan, that aren't empty however).
Some ideas?

I have similar issue before and it's really frustrated to use small capacity cartridges in my R200 and R280 printers. I ended up to get a very very decent ink system from InkRepublic.com
these two systems have been working for me for few years and I never ever have to worry about the ink cost and printing problem.

RMBP doesn't show correct 'available HDD space'

I'm using rMBP 15" early 2013 with OSX 10.9.5. My problem is (for a while) OSX doesn't show correctly my available HDD space. It is internal 256 GB SSD. How can i know that it doesn't show correctly? Because my Disk Utility says 69.64 GB free space but my Finder says 92.14 GB (Huge difference) ! Also my PC partition tells about different story but i don't care it (Who cares silly billy Windows? ) My guess is Disk Utility says correct.
This problem started with Diablo III. I installed it (13 GB download for a patch !!! c'mon Blizzard) and after that my Finder starts to lie to me (Before installation, both Disk utility and Finder says 101 GB approx.
Any idea?
p.s : İ did several times Repair disk permissions and repair disk. Please don't advise it..

Report parameters doesn't appear correctly

I have a report .rdl under Visual Studio2010 and sql server2008.
the report language is arabic and all the fields appears correctly, but the parameters doesn't appear correct it shows stange characers(not question marks) and all the remaining fields show arabic characters correct.
i run the report on internet explorer9.
i don't know what is the problem, i searched alot and there is nothing new. what can i do??

You have mentioned that the report is work fine on Chrome. It may be a compatibility issue of IE9. At this time, I suggest that you first check this issue in IE9 Compatibility View mode. Please refer to the following steps:
1. Launch the IE 9, and press Alt+T to select the Tools.
2. Click Compatibility View settings.
3. Check the “Display intranet sites in Compatibility View” option, and click Close.

AddChild doesn't work correctly in 11.9

comparing the two releases listed below, somehow my Flash program doesn't work correctly on the latest version anymore, nothing was changed in my program but after upgrading to the latest Flash Player, it doesn't work properly anymore, specifically, the items I add through the addChild method doesn't appear properly, was there any changes in between these versions that could have affected the addChild behavior? I'm testing with Windows 7 IE debug version and I see no script errors

This implies your site is not properly defined in DW. Go to Site > Manage Sites.
Or simply go to your other installation of DW and export the site definition file from Manage Sites.
Save it to a flash stick or other removable drive. Then import the STE file into your 2nd installation of DW.

iTunes 10.4 full screen with Win7-64 doesn't work correctly. I have the Windows taskbar on the left side of my screen. Maximized iTunes is panned to the left.

Same issue here. When the Windows taskbar is position on the top of the screen and then the iTunes windows is maximised, it's position is as if the Windows taskbar is at the bottom of the screen so the top of the iTunes window sits under the taskbar.
For those wanting a workaround, hold shift and right click the iTunes icon in the taskbar/quick launch bar and click restore, at least then you can adjust it to be full screen manually.
System:

Mouse hover doesn't produce preview in an application

I use a Bible program called Logos 5. For months I have had an issue where my mouse hover over a reference doesn't produce a preview, but only in one area of the program - my personal notes.
Recevied an email from the comany that said,
That specific tool tip is one that we are relying on Apple to make a call back to us for it to appear. What this means is at some point you, or a piece of software you’ve installed, or changed settings from, has modified the Apple tool-tip settings which is, in this case, disabling that tool-tip. The fact that it does appear when you hold down a modifying key also points to the fact that this is a system setting that has been modified.
Any clue what program or setting could have interfered? I do not have this problem on an older iMac with the same program & files loaded.
