SOLVED: Cannot see certain characters

I'm using Firefox 4.0b9 (although I don't think this is the issue) and I have trouble seeing some characters. Most often it's on my bank's website. They show up as black diamonds with question marks in it. The other issue I have is sometimes I get problems with glyphs (don't know what to call them). It's basically a black outline square that looks like this:

Anyway, I have my rc.conf look like this:

It doesn't seem to help here.
Chromium renders it right with the default settings. Using (seemingly) the same settings in firefox doesn't work.
I don't think it's a big deal though.

Cannot type certain characters

I have a brand new Ipod touch - right out of the box it
appears to be defective - I cannot type certain characters,
such as "C", and "T". Most characters do work but I believe

First try the [5R's Trouble Shoot|http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/troubleshooting/ipodtouch>.
You could also see if the keyboard will work in landscape mode with Safari.
I think your first instinct is correct though, take/send it back.

I cannot see certain colors/photos/boxes in Adobe Acrobat Pro 11. Can in Reader, and in Acrobat Standard 11

I have a customer who uses Adobe Acrobat Pro 11. When she receives PDFs, she cannot see the color green, certain boxes(most of the ones she cannot see all have green in them),and pictures. When I opened this same PDF document in Adobe Reader 11, Adobe Acrobat Standard 11, and Fox it reader, I could see everything as normal. Her version of Acrobat is up to date. I posted this Acrobat installations & Update Issues, not sure if correct or not. She has Windows 7 Professional 64x

I cant see any specail characters apart from the usal ones like !"£$%^&()_+=#';][/.,\

You should have a Unicode locale set at /etc/rc.conf. Check the one you have and if it isn't UTF-8, you should check /etc/locale.gen, uncomment the unicode locale for your language and run locale-gen as root to generate it. Then change the LOCALE at /etc/rc.conf to the same exact name as the one you have uncommented.

IPhoto cannot "SEE" certain photos

I have recently rebuilt my drive and ever since I did this I keep coming across photos that display as blank screen, if I open them in External Editor (Photoshop) they are exactly what they are meant to be but save them (Using the Computer's Profile - Adobe 1998) and go back to iPhoto, they still show as black holes.
If I Delete them and then Re-import the Original from Photoshop archive (lucky I still have them) it STILL shows as a black frame. The photos are perfectly ordinary TIFFs and PSD files, what could be going wrong?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you see any indication of the photos in iPhoto, i.e. a thumbnail or blank thumbnail, etc.? Do you see a folder in the library package with Import in the folder name?

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

[Solved] Cannot see interface in ShootMania Storm

I am trying to get ShootMania Storm working on my Arch x86_64.
I got it to install and start with wine, but after that it just shows an empty background where an interface to log in etc. should be.
I get sounds when mousing over where the menu points would be, but they are not rendered and everytime I do it, I get a lot of
fixme:d3d:resource_check_usage Unhandled usage flags 0x8.
in the console.
Any suggestions?

Nevermind, I tried it with xf86-video-ati first; now using catalyst and it works (shame, I really wanted to avoid catalyst but meh).

if you dont can choose the IF mapping in the IF Determination then you configured assumedly sending Outboud IF and receiving Inbound IF wrong. Plz check your configuration again. I found that "error" as a good help to avoid wrong configurations.

Contact form not accepting certain characters in the email box

Hi, i am currently using a flash template from flashmo.com and i have installed it etc... The problem i have is that when you go to send a message in the contact form you cannot enter certain characters in the email box, especially the '@' symbol, hw do i go about fixing this?

for each textfield you see in the ide, click it (to select it) and check the properties panel/embed fonts to make sure all characters needed in your app are checked.

Cannot see folder- in non english characters.

I have set up PySDM to mount one of my harddrives on boot. The problem is that I cannot see a folder (ls and nautilus ) there , which is non -english characters (russian). Ubuntu was able to see it properly. I verified it was there by booting back to Windows.

Click the Bookmarks icon in the Safari toolbar.
On the right hover your cursor just above the line where you see Bookmark and Address. When you see the small white hand drag up or down as needed to reveal your Bookmarks.

[SOLVED] urxvt/console spanish characters

i didn't bother with this "issue" i have, because rarely i type something in spanish (my native language) in urxvt, but lately i had to use msn a lot, (yeah i hate it too, but here people use that... and facebook) so, i have to use a lot the "n" and "a,e,i,o,u" characters, the thing is, i have no problem in X apps typing those characters as you can see, but in console and urxvt i can see the "a,e,i,o,u" characters, but i cannot type them, for example, if a text file has them, i can see them in vim, but im not able to type them, but the "n" character i cannot see neither in console nor urxvt, cant see it and cannot type it, only a "?" when it is displayed...

Mac: Problems with certain characters in the editor

I have now downloaded the production version on my Mac and it runs just fine. The first thing I see is that the painting problems with the close icons etc. have been fixed. Thank you for that. But I still have trouble typing certain characters in the editor. I haven't reported that yet, but I have seen others report similar problems caused by missing support for international keyboards. The characters that I cannot type are |\[{]} which is pretty annoying when you're writing Java code. :-) It works fine in normal Java text fields. On my Norwegian keyboard I normally input all these characters by typing 7 and 8 combined with option or option + shift.

Check if database characterset supports these special characters
check client's nls settings.
check client machine's language settings (converts characters in driver level)

IRecruitment: New users cannot see jobs as candidates

I´m experiencing a problem with iRecruitment. All the people in my company have an Oracle user associated to their corresponding person. The ones created long before (i don´t know exactly when, maybe when iRecruitment was implemented), can connect using the employee candidate resp. and search for jobs without problem. The new created users also connect with the same responsibility, but they cannot see any job. I´ve run the following programs with no success:
- Synchronize WF LOCAL tables with the following values for the “Orig System” parameter:
1. PER_ROLE
2. FND_RESP
3. FND_USR
- Sync responsibility role data into the WF table
- Workflow Directory Services User/Role Validation

Thanks guys. I finally solved it. We have a security policy activated to prevent users to see certain info (such as salaries) thru the app or database. One of the tables was per_all_vacancies. So we granted the profile value associated to that policy to these users and now they are able to search for vacancies. Thank you all of you for your help and effort. I´ve noted down all your suggestions so i can solve future problems regarding irec.

Never mind, problem solved. When I retunred to the Network tab the message had changed to "connected, no IP address" so I got that from the WiFi tab and configured the Ethernet manually. Have a nice day @:-)#
