[Solved] Cant get fglrx to load after an overdue pacman -Syu

I tried to launch steam tonight after doing a long overdue pacman -Syu yesterday, and it gave an error about GL. Upon closer inspection, no GL apps will run, giving similar errors:
$ glxgears
X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)

Here's what I've been able to track down:
The fglrx module isnt loading. When I try to load it manually:
$ sudo modprobe fglrx
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'fglrx': Exec format error
I checked in the Xorg error log:

I'm using the unofficial pacman repo from Vi0l0, so I also tried his catalyst-hook package, and the catalyst and catalyst-hook packages from AUR, running catalyst_build_module all and rebooting a couple times, but with no success. (his repos seem to have newer versions of the packages anyways)
Any idea what the root of the problem might be, or what I should try next?
my kernel is:

Ok, so I'm gonna go ahead and answer my own question! (This is why I dont usually post in forums!)
I installed catalyst-test from AUR. Everything is fine now.
Guess I didnt see that the first time looking through the older forum posts.

Ok so I copied my consolodated library to my mac including the library and XML file. I get the playlists loaded, but none of my music will load. No matter how many times I load the library it will not put my music on. GRR!

How did you transfer the library and library files from your PC to the MacBook?
The song locations are stored in the 'iTunes Library(.itl) file (more info about the library files here).
If you just copied it to the MacBook, iTunes will still look for the path of each song on your PC.
There are a few ways to correctly move the library.
If you have a large capacity iPod, use the instructions in this article:
How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
If you have a FAT32 formatted external HD, use these instructions:
iTunes: Moving your iTunes Music folder.
First move your library from PC to external.
Connect the drive to the MacBook and copy the 'iTunes Library(.itl)' file to the proper location on your MacBook (./Users/YourUsername/Music/iTunes).
Then move your music from the external drive to the MacBook.
Then there is another method by changing the paths in the 'iTunes Music Library.xml' file and using it as an import source, but this will not retain all information. I can explain it if you can't use one of the two previous methods.

I am having the same issues with watching Netflix on my Mac. It started after I downloaded the new updates for Safari. When I try to watch a movie it tells me "plug-in failed". I have downloaded every plug that I should need and it still does not work. I know it is not Netflix because it tells me that everything is fine and it works on my Wii.

Cant get sw to load /re-load -accidently hit cancel

was loading sw when I hit cancel.
Now cant get it to load again/reload.

Uninstall iTunes and the iPod software updater in Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel, if any, and try installing them again. Recommend to download the latest versions from the Apple site instead of using the programs from the CD.

Cant get windows to load

I have a Pm8Pm motherboard and I cant seem to get windows to load. It will go through about half way and give me the blue screen of death. Any ideas???????

Cant get videos to load

Cleaned cache using ccleaner and delted too many cookies. I am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. Videos on Cnn.com show ads but no video news content. BBC games do not open. Ads and games on addictinggames.com do not appear. Happens with both IE9 and FF19.0. No problem with Youtube. Installed latest from Flash. IE9 keeps asking me to install Flash but does not recognize after flash is installed.

I am having the exact same issue - CNN.com videos will not load after the advertisments. I don't think my issue is caused by cookie deletion. I believe I started having this issue after I reset my global flash settings. I am wondering if removing the audio and video licenses caused the problem, although I didn't think I had any licenses on my computer to worry about losing.

Cant get Frontrow to work after installing 10.4.3 and updating it

I made a terrible mistake today and moved all my files from my harddisk to my external harddisk. I had to reinstall everything but I cant get frontrow to work properly. I cant find it on my external harddisk either.
Can someone please help me with this tricky question.

Can you describe your problem in a bit more detail? Why did you decide to move your files? What files did you move? What method did you use to move them? Did you move them over completely by way of backing up and then erased your disk prior to moving them back?
Any other information you can provide will make it easier to make suggestions on your issue.

I have similar problem. After upgrading to Yosemite I have somme errors on iPhoto (repair permissions) and when I try to modifie library iPhoto on informations I have an error -8036. The solution provided by Apple Support is clean PRAM. Start your Mac with alt+cmd when the screen becomes grey push on P and R. Stay until the start sound play two times.Normally this solution resolve the problem. Its an old solution, I do it in 1986 for the first time. I apologize for my poor English but I am french and I don't know an other language.

Hi, my x server wont start.
I have just had a massive period with no internet access, and finally got round to running pacman -Syu on my machine after nearly 12 months with no updates.
Needless to say, it didnt like it. I am now stuck with a broken x, and having read through lots of different issues with similiar'ish problems I am very confused.
my machine is a 32bit processor (pentium4) with a nvidia geforce 6200 card and is fully up to date as of 18/12/2011.
System boots up to cli terminal with no errors, then startx command fails, errors being
sh: /usr/bin/xkbcomp: No such file or directory
(EE) Error compiling keymap (server-0)
(EE) XKB: Couldn't compile keymap
XKB: Failed to compile keymap
Keyboard initialization failed. This could be a missing or incorrect setup of xkeyboard-config.
Fatal server error:
Failed to activate core devices.
thinking it might be my 32bit machine?? as this seems to be a common issue? but the error complains about a missing file which I thought was handled by xorg.conf?????

For anyone who's recent updates may have caused similar issues, updating last night somehow removed my /usr/bin/xkbcomp file, reinstalling xorg-xkbcomp fixed this issue.

[SOLVED]wlanwep encryption is failing after system update(pacman -Syu)

After a system update with "pacman -Syu" my wlan encryption does not work anymore.
If I switch off encryption on my access point, I can communicate without any problems.
I have currently two wlans active, one with encryption, one without. I use the following iwconfig settings
iwconfig wlan0 essid my_open_wlan
iwconfig wlan0 essid my_wep_wlan key s:my_wep_password
In the first case I get the connection, in the second I cannot transmit over the network(Destination Host Unreachable).

Wep and ath9k has been buggy for me for a long time now - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Never got around it, adding "options ath9k nohwcrypt=1" into /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf seemed to work for some time. You could give it a try. The network I have problems with is at the university, they use wep + vpn to connect. I can connect fine (like in your last iwconfig), but dhcpd times out.
If you have control over the network, you could just switch to wpa - safer anyway. Or search the forum for "atheros wep", it is a somewhat common problem I think.

What do I need to do after my first pacman -Syu

(After installing from CD)
Running pacman -Syu prints some important messages while running--like 'do this or you'll get a kernel panic after reboot' and then scrolls them off the screen to make room for other messages but conveniently doesn't log them anywhere. (By the way, it would be a good idea TO log them somewhere, in my opinion.)
So, now that I have that kernel panic, does anyone know what all I was supposed to do after updating?

Few things, which ISO did you install from, the new 0.8 Voodoo? Also, note that you can always press Shift-PageUp to view console messages that have already scrolled by. With the new version of pacman (now in testing) all of those messages are logged, and eventually there should be a cleaner implementation of those logs since it has been a long-time complaint of users.
Without knowing which ISO you used, by first guess would be that you need to update the initrd line in your grub menu.lst config file to be "kernel26.img". If that's not it, give us more info and we'll see what we can do.
