[SOLVED]mupen64plus and Logitech Dual Action Controller mapping issues

I'm trying to configure mupen64plus with a logitech controller (via m64py), but for some reason the main control stick doesn't map properly.  Any other axis besides the main axis maps to the correct "axis (3+)" and "axis(3-)" position, but for some reason the main control stick maps to "hat(0 left)", "hat(0 right)", "hat(0 up)" and "hat(0 down)".  When I try to load mupen64plus, it then gives an error saying that direction hat(0 up) and hat(0 left) are unknown directions and correspondingly, the two directions on the controller don't work.
I've tried re-defining the axes for axis(0+) and 0-, but that does not seem to do anything.
I have also tried switching from xpad to xboxdrv to see if there might be an improvement, but xboxdrv doesn't even detect the controller.
Does anyone have some suggestions for configuring this?  Any help is appreciated.

I ran jscal from the terminal with
jscal -c /dev/input/js0
Strangely, the inputs for the '+' pad and the main analogue stick seem to be switched, i.e. the analogue stick only returns values of +1, 0, -1 for its axes and the + pad returns values of 1, 128, 255 for its axes... the other analogue stick returns the 1,128,255 axis values which makes sense since it's sensitive to amount of deflection.
I tried the SDL_JOYSTICK_DEVICE setting.  That made the program detect a different joystick, however the configuration has the same issues as before (i.e. it's detecting the same joystick as being a different device, but the configuration is the same as before)

  • Logitech Dual Action Gamepad

    I purchased a Logitech Dual Action Gamepad for my son to use to play Lego Star Wars on the Power Book G4. When it's connected, the System Profiler shows that the Mac "recognizes" the device, but nothing happens on the screen. I emailed tech support for the software and they told me it may need to be calibrated. I tried to follow the instructions, but nothing happened. Anyone have experience getting a USB gamepad such as this to work, or have other suggestions that things I might try?

    Well, maybe you don't neeed xf86-input-joystick but I have a usb logitech gamepad and I didn't use joydev or anything else but did install xf86-input-joystick--maybe I don't need it after all--and it just works.   I'll have to check that computer later when I'm using it as MOD_AUTOLOAD in rc.conf maybe autoloads joydev??
    Edit:  Well I'll be, joydev is loaded after all so I guess the module autoloads.  Arch is smart.

  • Is the logitech dual action gamepad compatible with Halo OSX?

    I recently purchased a logitech dual action gamepad and installed Halo on my iMac but the game does not let me use the gamepad only the keyboard and mouse. Are there any tips or is it just not compatible with Halo?

    yeah it is. i have one too. you need to install the update to 1.05 to be able to use joysticks and gamepads, though.
    i even set mine up as close as possible to the xbox version so i can switch platforms easily. my advice to be able to do this if you want is to make button #1 (should be the left button on the right side) make that the 'action' button so you can reload and get into vehicle with the same button, just like xbox. w/e, just sharing my knowledge.

  • Logitech Dual Action Gamepad on iMac?

    Hi, I bought a gamepad for call of duty 2 or use with MOH, it is recognised in system profiler... it is a usb logitech dual action. For some unknown reason to me the gamepad will not work on either of these two games, has ne1 any solutions or explanations? Thanks in advance,
    baz, Ireland.

    Hi baz,
    have you had a look on the Logitech website to see if there are any drivers for the pad.
    Maybe you must install specific drivers for the pad to work within games.
    That the System Profiler recognizes the pad doesn't mean that it will work as planned without drivers.
    Also if there are drivers make sure that these are Universal Binary so that they will work with your Intel iMac.
    Good Luck
    Stefan

  • Logitech Dual Action and xboxdrv

    I can't make it work. It is recognized, here's lsusb output:
    Bus 006 Device 007: ID 046d:c216 Logitech, Inc. Dual Action Gamepad
    I followed the wiki to mimic the Xbox 360 controller: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/joystick
    So I determined my gamepad's input with evtest and then I tried to map it with:
    sudo xboxdrv --evdev /dev/input/event1 \
    --evdev-absmap ABS_X=x1,ABS_Y=y1,ABS_RZ=x2,ABS_Z=y2,ABS_HAT0X=dpad_x,ABS_HAT0Y=dpad_y \
    --axismap -Y1=Y1,-Y2=Y2 \
    --evdev-keymap BTN_TRIGGER=x,BTN_TOP=y,BTN_THUMB=a,BTN_THUMB2=b,BTN_BASE3=back,BTN_BASE4=start,BTN_BASE=lt,BTN_BASE2=rt,BTN_TOP2=lb,BTN_PINKIE=rb,BTN_BASE5=tl,BTN_BASE6=tr \
    --mimic-xpad --silent
    Getting this output:

    Your Xbox/Xbox360 controller should now be available as:

    Press Ctrl-c to quit
    But no new input device is created, no matter if I reboot. Am I missing something?

    Looks like it is picking it up.
    Looks like Logitech does not make any software for the MAC for the controllers.

    Just started working with the post 8.3 CLI.

  • Using Logitech (PS3 style) Dual Action Gamepad Controller as Mouse in FCP

    I would like to use Logitech's (PS3 style) Dual Action Gamepad Controller for mouse functions in FCP. Any ideas how to go about doing this?

    Try pressing the PS button for 2-3 seconds with Bluetooth on and discoverable before you plug into your MB. When the lights flash, plug it in and press the PS button for 2-3 seconds again. You may need to open System Prefs and click the settings cog below your listed devices in the Bluetooth pane. Once the controller is recognized, click the settings cog and click "add as favorite" & "update services". It should auto pair now whenever you press the PS button when BT is on. I play Borderlands 2 on my 2011 MBP with a PS3 controller. It was a huge chore to find the solution but, heres what I did. Purchase Joystick Mapper, open it, have the controller on. In the menu bar under File, click load examples. Theres a bunch of pre-defined settings for both the PS and XB360 controllers. Some for using as a mouse, First Person Shooter, games that use keys & mouse and so on. I pulled the PS3 FPS example and cloned the example as to not delete the original. Labeled it Borderlands 2 and turned down the sensitivity on the Axis'. They were way to touchy for me. Its not perfect for me yet BUT, it works completely. The Use or E button is actually the Left D-Pad but, its not that odd. It also will give you a good idea on how to do it for other games. Just make a profile for each one. Clone that and then tweak it to your liking. Good luck!

    I purchased the Logitech F310 game controller for my 2011 MacBook Pro. How do I get the driver installed for it. The Disk that came with the controller is a mini disk and will not insert into my laptop.

    May not make a difference anyway. The Logitech support site does not show drivers for Mac OS for the F310:
    http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/gamepad-f310?crid=411
    I'd contact their support to find out if there is a Mac driver available, and if they can either give you a web link to get it, e-mail you the software, or snail-mail you a standard-size disk with the drivers.

  • OS X and Arch dual-boot on MBP - bootloader error

    I have a Macbook Pro 9,2, and I dual-boot OS X and Arch. My main Arch partition is encrypted with an LVM on LUKS setup, and my main OS X partition is encrypted with Firevault 2. I run the vanilla Arch kernel, and I use xfce as my DE. I use refind as my boot manager, and grub as the bootloader for the Arch partition. This setup has worked flawlessly for several months. I update my Arch system once per week, and last Sunday was a large update since xfce got a large overhaul (in terms of program and config files). However, since the update I cannot boot into OS X (I am posting this here instead of an OS X forum since no change occurred to the OS X system so the problem must be with a change to my Arch system).
    When I attempt to boot into OS X, I am asked for my password to decrypt the partition, but then I get the following error message:
    efiboot loaded from device: Acpi (PNP0A03,0)/Pci(1F12)/SATA(0,0)/HD(Part3.Sig698A
    48BA-88E6-471C-9359-AD63C7EEBE74

    *Hit any key to continue*
    When I hit a key, I get taken back to the refind menu. If I choose OS X again, I get the same error. This cycle can be repeated ad nauseam. Booting into my Arch partition, on the other hand, works just fine, with one hiccup. While usability does not seem to be reduced, after I input my password to decrypt the Arch partition, and before I see the tty1 login, I (since Sunday) occasionally get the following error message that I have never had before:
    19.636262] [drm:crypt_set_fifo_underrun_reporting] *ERROR* uncleared pch fifo underrun on pch transcoder

    19.332176] ata1.00: status: { DRDY }
    The "READ FPDMA QUEUED" line and those below it repeat a few time with different numbers following "cmd" and "res," but then after a few moments the messages clear off the screen and I arrive at my tty1 login screen and from there everything in Arch (including my now-upgraded DE) works normally. This error does not occur during all boots, but I cannot discern any pattern behind when I see it and when I do not. The OS X error and failure to boot occurs every time I try to boot into OS X.
    I have learned a lot as an Arch user, but this problem is beyond me. Google has not been particularly friendly, understandably so given the peculiarity of the problem and my setup. I have not yet tried undoing the update I did on Sunday because (a) it would be a pain since there were >30 packages that were upgraded, and (b) I have no evidence that the upgrade was actually causative of this issue, though I may eventually attempt the downgrade out of desperation if I cannot find a solution. Note that the update I keep referencing did not including a kernel update.
    I appreciate any advice or insight that you can offer.

    I don't have much in the way of a solution for your problem, but to start with, what were the  > 30 packages? In particular, was grub/refind updated (or anything else that would likely touch your efi partition? I know from my own messing with refind, that you can potentially 'damage' your partition layout with certain commands which maybe causing osx not to boot...
    Then again, the errors may have nothing to do with your arch installation and maybe indicative of a different problem all together. Normal procedure is at this point is to backup your complete disk (clone/mirror it, read up on how to do that especially with regards to the encryption systems used), and try to diagnose for any problems the mbp maybe having.
    You could use an apple rescue cd (that may no longer be available with newer mbp , I have no idea..) or maybe use a different harddisk and install osx there and see if you can get everything running 'normally' thus ruling out any funky errors with the hw.  check apple's recovery options if need be.
    I guess you'll just have to fiddle about a bit and try to more closely determine what the actual problem is. and again, backup your stuff!

  • ATI display driver lost with Linux and XP dual boot os

    I brought ThinkPad W500 with windows vista. I want to get rid of the hidden boot system reserved partition and downgrade to windows xp and install OpenSuse os. Following some sourses found on the web, I first set the bios sata ahci mode to compatable mode. Then install windows xp and update the sata driver. Restart and reset the bios sata back to ahci mode. It works fine with windows xp and I install back all driver. Finally I install OpenSuse and create dual boot with Grub.
    But a serious problem come up with me. Everytime after restart from the linux os and back to windows xp, xp doesn't regonize the ATI display divice and tell me no driver installed with low screen resolution. And I have to restart the machine and boot direct into xp for the second time and the problem gone. But it is so annoying of doing this everytime. Anyone can help? Many thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi stanleyimko,
    I don't have an answer, just a couple of questions:
    Does your W500 have switchable graphics?  If so, you may have to turn off "let the OS detect" or permanently select one or the other in BIOS.  XP isn't switchable aware, so I don't know why that would make a difference.
    Do you see the problem on cold (re) boot to XP, or only on warm reboot from Linux to XP?
    Seems like something is leaving your BIOS in an odd state (I guess that's obvious) and maybe a cold reboot would sort it.

  • Solaris 10 and Linux dual boot

    I currently have Linux installed and would like to install Solaris 10 on the same system via a different H-drive. I would like to have both OS fully functional.
    I have loaded Solaris 10 CD1 but unable boot into solaris to complete installation.
    I have edited linux /boot/grub/menu, syntax outlined below.
    title solaris in hdc1 known to grub as (hd1,0)
    root (hd1,0)
    chainloader +1
    Still unable to boot up solaris getting error: 21
    Here's my hardware configuration
    Primary Mstr: 1 ide H-drive - Linux
    Primary slave: n/a
    Secondary mstr: 1 ide H-drive - Solaris 10
    Slave: DVD
    Thanks to all in advance!

    OK, folks, I have solved it and here are my last words on the subject.
    First of all, my verdict is to use the Solaris GRUB to boot all the other OS's, just because the Linux GRUB "cannot mount the partition", where Solaris kernel is. The Solaris GRUB can do it all.
    I can absolutely boot my Linux (hd1,0) partition from my SXDE GRUB installation on (hd0),
    for that I use the following section in */boot/grub/menu.lst*:
    title SuSE-10.3-GM
    root (hd1,0)
    kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/sdb1 vga=0x31a splash=silent ht=on showopts
    initrd /boot/initrd
    map (hd0) (hd1)
    Yes, "*map ...*" string is important, for GRUB starts the counting from the drive it is installed in. It seems, the author of the original post is missing this string in his bootloader configuration; his Linux is on (hd0) and Solaris on (hd1), so he needs to use the "map" string.
    I must also add to this, that when I booted last time into my Linux (SuSE10.3), I took care to install it's own GRUB bootloader into the Linux installation partition(must be set bootable). You have different ways of doing it, basically you can log into GRUB shell and do this:
    grub> root (hd1,0) --- my linux partition
    setup (hd1,0) -- the partition I wanted to install GRUB into(which IS my linux bootable partition).
    This helps when you've got your first drive MBR corrupted, and need to boot your linux somehow; then you "chainload" from the boot partition.
    However, the example shown above boots my SuSE right away, without chainloading into the GRUB installed into the Linux partition. Yes, Solaris GRUB does that without complain, and I added this section manually to the menu.lst when logged in after the SXDE installation was complete. My homage to the Solaris version of GRUB in this case, which is more capable, than the Linux version. Thanks to you developers!
    If GRUB couldn't boot linux kernel directly, I'd have to use chainloader string (which is also known to work) like this:
    root (hd1,0)
    chainloader +1
    map (hd0) (hd1)
    And the problem I had with installation and partitioning was solved by formatting the whole drive into Solaris. In fact, there had been a lot of partition deletion/creation by me, so the Linux fdisk could see one partition configuration, while Solaris fdisk saw it all different. Well, I can see that disk partitioning in itself is a bit more complicated process, than the end-user wants to think.
    Excuse me for such long letters, I just tried to give a thorough account on the matter. Hope this would help somebody out there.
    Cheers,
    Kostya

  • Best way to dynamically load an action controller?

    Say all requests go through a front controller. The front controller delegates that request to a particular action controller. The name of the controller, and the name of the action comes from the URL. What's the cleanest way to get an instance of the action controller based on its name, then run a method in it, alo based on its name. Example:
    You've got action controllers for two different areas of your application, "forum" and "store". Each of these controllers will deal with different requests, but the front controller is the component which determines the class and the method to invoke.
    The controllers have a basic skeleton layout like so:
    org.yoursite.controller.actions.ForumActions;
    public class ForumActions extends ActionController {
      public void executeCreatePost() {
        //deal with the "CreatePost" action
      public void executeDeleteThread() {
        //you get the idea
    }org.yoursite.controller.actions.StoreActions;
    public class StoreActions extends ActionController {
      public void executeViewCart() {
      public void executeAddItem() {
    }You make a request to http://site.tld/servlet/FrontController?module=store&action=viewCart
    The FrontController has enough information to know what you want to do:
    StoreController ctl = new StoreController();
    ctl.executeViewCart();But what's the cleanest way to actually do that locating of the class, instantiating it and then running the correct method? Reflection? Can anyone give an example of how relfection can be used? I've got this but it seems to to sporadically throw "MethodInvokationException" errors if the servlet container has not been used for a while, then it starts working again after the first rquest has erred.
    My code so far... not too happy with it:
       * Get an instance of the action controller for this request.
       * @return ActionController
      public ActionController getActionController() throws ActionNotFoundException {
        if (actionController == null) {
          try {
            Class actionClass = Class.forName("org.w3style.controllers.actions." + getModuleName() + "Actions");
            actionController = (ActionController) actionClass.newInstance();
          } catch (Exception e) {
            throw new ActionNotFoundException("Action controller class for " + getModuleName() + " cannot be found." + e);
        return actionController;
       * Run the requested action from the cotroller.
      protected void doExecuteAction() throws ActionNotFoundException {
        ActionController ac = getActionController();
        try {
          Class acClass = ac.getClass();
          Class[] params = { };
          Object[] args = { };
          Method acMethod = acClass.getMethod("execute" + getActionName(), params);
          acMethod.invoke(ac, args);
        } catch (Exception e) {
          throw new ActionNotFoundException("Action " + getActionName() + " cannot be found." + e);
      }

    Hmmm, I think my struggle to handle this indicated a design smell so I've refactored to something more modular. Now all "ActionController" classes extend an abstract so that their vital method signatures are already known. Now I have:
    org.w3style.controller.actions.forum.CreatePostAction
    public class CreatePostAction extends ActionController {
      public void execute() {
    }org.w3style.controller.actions.forum.DeleteThreadAction
    public class DeleteThreadAction extends ActionController {
      public void execute() {
    }This works much better and it's still laid out well enough for components of the same module to be easily accessible. It's fixed my MethodInvocationTargetException too. I guess I can throw in validate() and handleError() methods now too :)

  • Newbie K8N Diamond and 4400+ DUal core

    Hi
    I recently put together a k8n diamond and a dual core 4400+ processor. SInce i am no so fluent with voltages etc... I tried running the Ntune "performance Tuning wizard". Whereas all the other utilities work fine .. this just does not run.... if i click nothing happens (like a dead link icon)....
    I reinstalled, redownloaded etc.... several times... anyone have a solution ?
    Is there alternative software that can optimally configure my memory voltage, cpu voltage, FSB etc.....
    My system is slightly unstable and crashed sometimes at the moment.
    Another thing i noticed is that my HD (Seagate 80GB SATA - ST380817AS) is showing on secondary channel (hardware, device manager, IDE/ATA COntroller, properties.... with  theoretical  burst 10Mb/s  burst 113Mb/s  sustained 59Mb/s)...is this right ?
    Thanks for your help
    Matteo

    Wow MatteoB, youve got a bunch of issues going on there...
    -First off, try to keep posts to one issue, the ntune, the system instability, the hard drive problem, its hard to respond to-
    -Please put all your system components in your signature, it's basically the first item in the new members to do list, suprised the moderators didn't snipe your for that, but most folks probably just passed by due to the first problem-
    +The nTune Performace Tuning Wizard and the Profile Module does not work with dual core cpu's (i've only unoffically confirmed this with a handful of others), however you can manually change some settings in the Adjust settings screen+
    ++If your system is unstable at stock default settings and speed, you need to fix this the old fashioned way, ntune does not do this for you++
    The hard drive problem sounds like it can be fixed, but again a remedy for system crashing should be your #1 priority as it may be tied to the hdd.
    Make a signature file with your system components and elaborate on what is happening on the computer when it crashes and I am sure you will get a lot of responses.

  • HOW TO CONNECT A SONY PLAYSTATON DUALSHOCK 3 and/or SIXAXIS BLUETOOTH CONTROLLER TO YOUR MAC ***NO PASSCODE, NO TURNING BLUETOOTH OFF OR ON, NO TROWING YOURSELF OFF A CLIFF IN FRUSTRATHON***

    ***A tutorial written on trial, error and a big bucket of coffee***
    Definitions of the controllers four red lights flashing:
    - Slowly ≈ once per second
    - Rapidly ≈ twice per second
    - Don't flash = off
    All the controller buttons you will need to press:
    - PS button = the PS-logo button in the centre of the controller
    - Reset button = The reset button are located on the back of the controller inside the tiny hole just to the right of the middle screw.. Depending on how you hold the controller. -If you hold the controller upside down, the hole are to the left of the screw... ...never mind -let's go on, shall we? ..(Closest to the L2 button) -SONY recommends that you, i quote; "use a small, unfolded paper-clip or something similar to click the button"
    First thing:
    0.0     Open Bluetooth Preferences. (System Preferences / Bluetooth)
    If if if if if:
    0.1     If the controller is connected to the USB cable, disconnect the controller from the USB cable..
    0.2     If the lights on the controller are flashing rapidly, and the controller constantly are pushing on and on and on and on to get a pairing request passcode           NEVER MIND THE DIALOG BOX! Don't even bother to reject it, it will only reappear pushing you over the edge..
    0.3     Press and hold the PS button on the controller for about 10 seconds to make the controller disconnect and go to sleep, or disconnect the          controller in the Bluetooth Preferences THE IMPORTANT THING IS THAT THE CONTROLLER HAS STATUS OF BIENG: NOT CONNECTED!
    0.3.1  If the controller is disconnected, give the dialog box your meanest evil-eyes and a last ever slam on the reject button if you really can't stand looking at it..
    Next up:
    1.1     Connect the controller to your iDevice using the USB cable. (Do not disconnect the USB cable until step 1.4) -The lights on the controller will start           flashing slowly, and the controller will appear in the list of Bluetooth devices as: PLAYSTATION(R)3 Controller
    1.2     If the controller don't appear at all or appears without a name and the address like 00-00-00-00-FF-FF in the Bluetooth Preferences, then just           press the reset button briefly and wait for the controller to reappear in the Bluetooth device list. -Never mind if the controller appears two times or more,           just carry on, you can always delete the non-connected-Bluetooth-controller-blah-blah-thingies-in-the-Bluetooth-Preferences-list afterwards. The main goal           at this point are just that one of the Bluetooth settings is configured..
    1.3     Press and hold down the PS button on the controller for about 5 seconds, release the PS button, and first now disconnect the USB cable.. -The           controller will now appear as connected and configured in the Bluetooth Preferences
    1.4     Finally add the controller to favorites and update services in Bluetooth Preferences / the sprocket pop-down menu. (Don't know what the update           services does, but why not click it when you can??)
    1.5     DONE! -The controller should now appear in the Bluetooth device list like this:
    GOAL:
    *** Paired = NO ...And it's a resounding NO -Nobody on this earth knows how to pair the controller!! Connected yes / paired no, no, no ..Never mind that, the          controller will work anyway!
    *** Configured = Yes
    *** Favorite = Yes
    *** Connected = Yes
    *** Flashing lights on the controller forcing you into epileptic seizures = No ...Hurray
    -Actually non of the four lights are lid.. When the controller is paired on the PlayStation it will be given a number 1-7 and the fact that this doesn't  happen on the Mac, may properly cause that people are having problems connecting more than one controller to their Mac?? -I'm no expert in this field, just thinking loud..
    If if if if if vol. 2
    - If you fumble in step 1.4 and let go of the PS button and/or disconnect the USB cable to soon the lights will flash rapidly..
    - If you disconnect the controller from Bluetooth and reconnect the controller by pressing the PS button, -which I believe is the only way to reconnect it, the lights on the controller will also start flashing rapidly..
    - Or if the lights for some other reason are flashing rapidly..
    -To make it stop, cause it's really annoying, do as follows:
    2.0     Disconnect the controller in Bluetooth Preferences - The lights stops flashing when the controller is disconnected
    2.1     Connect the controller to the USB cable - The lights starts flashing slowly
    2.3     Press and hold down the PS button for about 5 seconds, release it, and then disconnect the USB cable..
              -You can also connect the USB cable first and then disconnect the Bluetooth afterwards, the difference is the same.. -Or press and hold the PS-logo           button on the controller for about 10 seconds to disconnect the controller from Bluetooth (The controller will go to sleep and turn the lights off)

    I try this good tutorial!
    Everything done but..
    My PS3 controller connect, the bluetooth panel status is connected, favorite and configured, but "Services" result "NONE" :-(
    When controller connect to my MacBook Pro, it continue to lights the led fast and it disconnect automatically from system after 15 seconds
    I forget: I run OS X 10.8.2!
