[SOLVED] Perl tainting check problem

Hi,
I'm having an issue using the perl date-manip libraries. To be precise Date::Manip::UnixDate doesn't seem to work.
My system is x86_64 with latest -Syu
$ perl -v
This is perl 5, version 14, subversion 2 (v5.14.2) built for x86_64-linux-thread-multi
$ perl -MDate::Manip -e 'print DateManipVersion()."\n";'
6.30
Libraries are installed...
Now to the problem
$ perl -w -MDate::Manip -e 'print DateManipVersion()."\n"; my $date = UnixDate("now", "%y"); print $date ."\n"'
6.30
12
$ perl -wT -MDate::Manip -e 'print DateManipVersion()."\n"; my $date = UnixDate("now", "%y"); print $date ."\n"'
Undefined subroutine &Date::Manip::UnixDate called at /home/saiko/test.pl line 5, <DATA> line 496.
Apparently it works without the tainting check (-T).
How come?
What am I missing?
Thanks

Solved...
The error message was so misleading.
In the end tried to use the -MDate::Manip::DM6 to define the exact location of the subroutine in question.
Only then I got the familiar error:
$ perl -wT -MDate::Manip::DM6 -e 'print DateManipVersion() . "\n";'
Insecure $ENV{PATH} while running with -T switch at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/Date/Manip/TZ.pm line 615, <DATA> line 429.
Compilation failed in require, <DATA> line 429.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted, <DATA> line 429.
This made me remember a similar thread: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=91981
Anyhow defining the /etc/timezone solves the problem.

  • Any way of finding out how Apple will solve the Aperture / ACR problem?

Has anyone out there gotten any comments from Apple support or other people "in the know" about how Apple is going to solve the Aperture / ACR problem, and any potential time frame?
Of course, Apple is going to work on problems with its own RAW conversion; that goes without saying. But does anyone have any knowledge of whether Apple is going to open up the ability for Apple to send RAW, unconverted images to Photoshop, so that ACR can handle them?
I think knowing this now is pretty crucial. I am willing to live with the pain Aperture is going to impose on my workflow, in exchange for the file organization benefits it provides, IF I know that I'll be able to use Aperture with ACR soon (near term). But if Apple is going to just tinker with the RAW converter, and not attempt to send RAW files to ACR, then as someone else posted in another topic, this could be a long wait, and other companies have taken years to hone their RAW converters.
This is kind of my last-ditch effort to keep Aperture around, and build my workflow around it. If I know that within a month or two at the most, I'll be able to be using ACR directly when editing new versions, then I'll absorb the pain until then. But if I am looking at waiting six months for it (several man years), or riding out the process of Apple trying to get their own converter fixed, then as much as I don't want to, Aperture is going to get returned or hit eBay.
Does anyone have any idea on this? I've held up my projects for the past week trying to reorganize my workflow to work with Aperture, and I've got to pound the gavel, make a decision, and pursue a direction. Knowing what direction Apple is going to take with this makes all the difference in the world in what I do.
Thanks in advance for any info you can pass on.

This "Open External Editor from Master NEF", versus open from a dynamicaly created version is, I have decided, crucial.
I am getting less clumsy with the interface, but I simply can not get all white balance, and noise reduction done on my best available light shots.
ACR in CS2, and a subsequent "Neat Image" scrubbing is excellent for this.
The automatic association within a stack, of the resulting flattened file would be a big difference. I agree a formal statement from Apple would make me more inclined to really commit to Aperture for all my work.
Going one step further, it would be nice to keep the layers on the round-trip Master file, even if you would work with a dynamicaly created version of the returned "master" within a stack. It would occupy more disk space, but would do so only for those images where the user has made a quality decision.

  • Syntax Check Problem?

    Hi there!
I have an ActionScript Project and have many AS Classes on my
source directory, but have only one Application (Main.as).
The question is that I can write anything on the AS Classes
and the Flex doesn't point any errors. Flex only parse the classes
that are used by my Main Application. This is not a good thing,
because not all the classes are laoded by the Main Application
directly, but I still need a instant syntax checking...
So, could some one say me if this is a Syntax Check Problem?
    Thank you,
    CaioToOn!

    Hi,
Indeed, it can be frustrating that your class gets compiled
only when it gets used. I'm guessing the compiler behaves that way
    for performance reasons.
But I don't understand the bit about classes not being loaded
by the main application directly? You mean those classes are
    compiled into modules / rsls?
As long as the classes are referenced in some class which is
being used by the application, it *should* get compiled. It would
be interesting to know the dependency of your actionscript
    classes.

  • Does upgrading from Premiere Elements 12 to 13 solve the Organizer thumbnail problem?

Thumbnails do not show up after importing clips into Premiere Elements 12 Organizer.  I've tried right clicking on a clip and telling it to recreate the thumbnail but it doesn't work. I've tried refreshing and repairing the catalog.  I've even started a new catalog and reimported the files.  The system says it's creating thumbnails but they still do not show up.  Does upgrading from Premiere Elements 12 to 13 solve the Organizer thumbnail problem?

    listiak
That is one of those questions best answered by evaluating Elements Organizer13 with your specific files in your specific computer environment.
Each of the Elements Organizer versions often appears to carry along its own baggage.
One of the things that came up about Elements Organizer 13 thumbnails recently was a problem with files with MPEG2
video compression. The Adobe word on this was that this is only an Elements Organizer 13 tryout issue...supposed not to exist
    in the purchased version.

  • [SOLVED] Perl problem (in myth)

I am trying to run a simple script that fetches info from themoviedb.org, here's the MythTV wiki for it: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Tmdb.pl
All permissions are correct, files are in the right places, the problem seems to be with my perl setup. On running the script in the Mythfrontend, I get this: click for error png
I have been corresponding on the Mythtv mailing list, and they asked if I'm using SELinux which I am not, of course. I don't know hardly anything about perl, so any help is appreciated. Any more info needed I will surely provide.
    Thanks

What about the setgid permission?  That really seems the cause of the problem, the -Uw was just a hackish workaround.  List the files with 'ls -l' to see if the script (or the .pm module file) are setgid.  If they are an s will show up in the group field, like this:
    -rwxr-sr-x 1 justin users 11327 2009-04-05 12:41 tmdb.pl*
This is also highlighted in yellow for me, I'm not sure if you have ls colors working.  Also check the directory they are in using 'ls -ld <dirpath>'.
If you find it, try unsetting the setgid bit using chmod like: 'chmod g-s <target>'.  Google setuid or see the chmod manpage to learn more about it.
    Edit:
As soon as I posted this I remember you can find files with certain permissions.  If you type this on the shell it should print any files/dirs with setgid on:
    find /MythTV's/Base/Directory/ -perm /2000

  • Nothing seems to solve my MacBook Pro problem 'Could not sign in.Please Check your network connection and try again'

On old MacBook Pro Version 10.6.8 downloaded Facetime from the Mac Store as instructed but error loging in says 'Could not sign in.Please Check your network connection and try again'.
I have follwed all these discussion fixes with DNS settings 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and refreshing everything but nothing works.
    Help!
I have also logged out of my other laptop and closed my phones Facetime.

    Hi KateD14!
I have an article here that addresses this sign in issue with FaceTime and may have some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve this issue:
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: Troubleshooting sign in issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3970
    Resolution
    Try the following:
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection.
Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website. Other things you should confirm while logged into appleid.apple.com:
Confirm that the email addresse(s) for your Apple ID has been verified.
Check for miss-types of the email address
Check the spelling of the email address
Check that all letters are lower case
Make sure that special characters are correct, e.g. no commas (,) where there is supposed to be full stops (.), etc.
Note You may experience issues if your email address is associated with more than one Apple ID. If you have multiple Apple IDs, log in to appleid.apple.com with each Apple ID and confirm that each email address you wish to use for FaceTime or Messages is associated with only a single Apple ID.
Make sure the date, time, and time zone are set correctly in Data & Time preferences, in System Preferences. Tip: Enable "Set date and time automatically" in Date & Time preferences to automatically keep this information accurate.
If third-party firewall or port filtering software is installed, it needs to be configured to allow connections to apple.com, verisign.com and verisign.net. A list of ports required for using FaceTime and Messages is in Using FaceTime and iMessage behind a firewall. Please consult this article for further help configuring firewalls and Internet security software.
If your /private/etc/hosts file has been modified, make sure that it is not interfering with communications to apple.com, verisign.com or verisign.net servers. Note: Some third-party software installers may modify the /private/etc/hosts file without alerting you. Instructions about how to check and resolve issues with a /private/etc/hosts file are in the "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows)" section of iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting

  • 10.5.8 Server, Amavisd 2.6.4 crahing perl, with BerkeleyDB Problem

By searching the interwebs and discussions here didn't find a solution that worked for me yet.
System Details: Quad intel Xserve, 10.5.8 Server (Security Update 2009-005 not yet applied.)
Seems to have started this night around 2am.
Amavisd-new 2.6.4 will not accept transport anymore. Logs the well known
Sep 16 15:23:00 mail postfix/qmgr[3853]: warning: connect to transport smtp-amavis: Connection refused
    Sep 16 15:23:12 mail deliver[3869]: connect(/var/imap/socket/lmtp) failed: Connection refused
    messages to the log.
Tried rebuilding amasid-new and all the needed perl modules. CPAN worked well, yet perl seems to crash anytime amavisd will access a BerkelyDB from cyrus.
SMTP in seems to work fine, SMTP out as well, transport from postfix to cyrus via amavisd is still broken. My own user account can send and even receive mails without a problem, which stumps me a little. I only have that user for testing purposes, so it doesn't carry any amount of email beyond test mails, counting less than 100 messages.
I have already checked for privileges and quota problems with the .db.
Repairing the Database with ServerAdmin hasn't helped, as did a reconstruct with ServerAdmin. I'm still trying to avoid full mailbox rebuilds. I'd prefer rebuilding only the problematic mailboxes and not all mailboxes to have a few as possible users with all their unread status reset.
For a quick fix, I'd like to be able to deliver mails to the users boxes so they get their mails for the moment, seems they are able to send without problems. This should buy me a little more time until I can fix it all properly.
Turning off Spam and Virus filtering doesn't help the delivery, which I expected it would. doesn't this time.
How can I find out which user's mailboxes are corrupted so I can only completely rebuild the ones really needed? I'm willing to jump through substantial hoops to prevent the need to do a full server mailbox rebuild. (ca. 90GB of mails in total… would take a looong time and upset the users.)
I can test everything and can of course provide any more details you might need to help me.
This setup is quite modified from Apple's stock setup mostly following pterobyte's excellent recommendations and tutorials for improvement.
    Best regards
    Pepi
This is what the mail system logs when starting up:

    Hi Alex,
    thanks for chiming in!
I'm quite confident, that nobody installed BerkeleyDB at 2am on that server. Neither on purpose nor accidentally.
Just for the record… the usual suspects have be checked as well:
I've checked the filesystem, and it seems to be ok.
I've repaired privileges, and they seem to be ok.
I've used mailbfr to rebuild each and every mailbox. (-m)
I've used mailbfr to repair mail system privs and quota. (-o, -q)
The system has plenty of freespace on all drives.
Additional info about the current behavior:
I've turned off virus and spam filtering for the moment. Mails can be sent and do get delivered for all the accounts I've tested. The ones that are already in the queue do not get delivered. I've even tried to manually flush the queue, though postfix usually never needs that and know best when to do what. Anyway it didn't convince postfix to deliver the queued mails.
From the logs I can see that cyrus complains about a critical database condition in

I've already rebuilt amavisd-new 2.6.4 and ClamAV 0.95.2 (with your extras) then rebootet. As expected, the cyrus problems remain. Perl is still crashing as soon as amavisd or ClamAV shall start. Mail delivery directly to cyrus without filtering seems to work fine at the moment. Queued mails stay where they are and do not get delivered.

    Thanks

  • Applying p5665750_10131_GENERIC.zip doesnt solve the rules change problem

    Hi,
Please suggest a solution to the below problem.
Initial problem : whenever user changed rules in rules repository(WebDAV repository) they are not getting reflected in the BPEL process which contains decision service.
Solution : redeploying the BPEL process or restarting SOA suite will affect BPEL process with the changes in rules repository.
But we need to solve the above problem without redeploying the BPEL process. For this we have been provided a patch (p5665750_10131_GENERIC.zip)
    Installation of above patch
    %soa_home%opmn\bin>Opmnctl stopall
    Then I installed the patch.
    And restart the SOA suite
    %soa_home%opmn\bin>Opmnctl startall
Now when I am trying to access the application I am getting Promotion Status as null and the following is the stack trace of the error

    Hi everybody,
Wondering if we could categorize a little bit so that we can put together some kind of tech-note. So far i have seen the following errors:
    1. Something along
at line 3 column 1 in main
Caused by: FactClassException: fact class for 'loanoffer.LoanApplicationType' should be declared earlier in rule session
at line 3 column 1 in main
This one is usually caused by a RL function having above fact class as one
of its parameters. The workaround to avoid this is either use 'loanoffer.LoanApplication' as the parameter type or enable 'assertXPath' for the fact 'loanoffer.LoanApplicationType'.
    2. Something like (see above)
<2007-04-27 18:39:14,928> <ERROR> <oracle.bpel.services> <::> Internal error: Function assert-object: error in call: Jess reported an error in routine DefinstanceList.definstance
    while executing (assert-object duvalCounty.StudentImpl@795486).
Message: Object is not instance of duvalCounty.StudentImpl.Jess reported an error in routine DefinstanceList.definstance
    while executing (assert-object duvalCounty.StudentImpl@795486).
This usually indicates a classloader issue in the decision service itself and it can
happen if you put the fact class files into some directory which is in the classpath
    of BPEL PM (like ?/bpel/system/classes)
I'm following up with "soruganti" on the second issue (the one originally posted)
and we'll post the outcome here.
Juan: Can you confirm that the issue you're seeing is one of above (1.) or (2.) ?
    Any stack trace available ?
Nevertheless i'm sure it is somehow unrelated to patch p5665750.
    Best Regards,
    Ralf
