[SOLVED] Set keyboard property through the console

Hi,
in the GNOME Keyboard properties, there is the option "Key presses repeat when key is held down" option. How can I set this option without GNOME, Any Xorg pros here that can help me? Maybe with setxkbmap? But I don't see what option I must use there. Or do I need a xorg.conf setting? I've read all the man pages.
Why do I need this? I have a game running on a seperate XServer in wine that only works properly when that setting is disabled.
Thanks
/Edit: Solved! xset r on/off does the trick.

Hello Rumenigue,
It looks to me like you are using a console cable.  The reason you usually see them the other way around is because with a console cable the RJ-45 end goes into the device (an ethernet jack labeled console) whereas on this switch the console port is serial itself.
Usually the serial end of the cable you have plugs into a USB to serial adapter (because most computers today don't have serial ports anymore) and that USB connection goes into your PC, creating the virtual COM port you need in HyperTerminal.
So if you get a USB to Serial adapter you could plug that from USB to the console port, or if you computer has a serial port of its own just connect a serial cable directly from the PC to the switch, then use HyperTerminal with the settings recommended above by Tom.
Hope I have helped,

  • Managing a custom property through the console

    I'd like to create a boolean property that I mange through the console. It is
    basically a timing mechanism that I need to be able to turn on and off without
    recompiling or restarting the WLS server. I've done some looking at the documentation,
    but I can't see where I could create my own custom property...
    We are using 5.1 right now and plan to migrate to 6.0 within the next month.

    The user names are stored in table USR01. IN that table see if you can add a field to have region. Extract this table and store it in User info object in BW.
    You will need a ABAP person to do this, if you are new to SAP.

  • Is their a way to set system property in weblogic console

    Hi WL USERS
    Is their a way to set system property in weblogic console ie (http://localhost:8080/console) ? if yes, can we access that property in code using System.getProperty()?
    Regards
    vishy

    Yes, It is Possible.
    Please check the Option-1). Mention in the Following Link: http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/03/26/nodemanager-based-managedservers-setting-mem_args/
    Here i tried to set a Custom Property "*-Duser.dir=E:/MyDirectory*" through the Admin Console.
    NOTE: Setting any Option like JAVA_OPTIONS/CLASSPATh etc through Admin Console will work only when you start your Servers using the NodeManager. It means when you start your ManagedServers through AdminConsole...or Using nodeManager based WLST scripts.

  • [SOLVED] Setting higher reslution using the nouveau driver

    Hi all,
    I just upgraded my system and installed the nouveau driver (as described here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nouveau), because the nvidia driver seems to be incompatible with newer xorg server (http://www.archlinux.org/news/nvidia-17 … rom-extra/) , right ?
    So now it seems that I am running the X with the nouveau driver, but the resolution of my monitor is 1024x768. This is not very cool because it was 1280x1024 before the upgrade. I am using KDE and its screen & resolution tool does not show something higher than 1024x768 too.
    Can you give me some help setting back the correct resolution or give me some link to similar discussion when I can find the info?
    Thanks a lot!

    Nope, linux-lts did not solve the problem (just installed it). But just to be sure I am not doing anything wrong...when installing the nuveau driver do I need to change anything manually in xorg.conf or other file under /etc/X11?
    Because what i did is just doint this:
    # pacman -Rdds nvidia nvidia-utils
    # pacman -S --asdeps libgl
    as described in the Wiki.
    Looking at my xorg.conf I see:
    Section "Device"
        Identifier  "Card0"
        Driver      "nouveau"
        BusID       "PCI:1:0:0"
    EndSection
    Section "Device"
        Identifier  "Card1"
        Driver      "vesa"
        BusID       "PCI:1:0:0"
    EndSection
    So it seems the file was updated I am running nouveau, but do I need to change anything else manually?

  • Large OLTP data set to get through the cache in our new ZS3-2 storage.

    We recently purchased a ZS3-2 and are currently attempting to do performance testing.  We are using various tools to simulate load within our Oracle VM 3.3.1 cluster of qty5 Dell m620 servers-- swingbench, vdbench, and dd.  The OVM repositories are connecting via NFS.  The Swingbench load testing servers have a base OS disk mounted from the repos and NFS mounts via NFS v4 from within the VM (we would also like to test dNFS later in our testing).
    The problem I'm trying to get around is that the 256G of DRAM (and a portion of that for ARC) is large enough where my reads are not touching the 7200 RPM disks.  I'd like to create a large enough data set so the amount of random reads cannot possible be stored within the ARC cache  (NOTE: we have no L2ARC at the moment).
    I've run something similar to this in the past, but have adjusted the "sizes=" to be larger than 50m.  My thought here is that, if the ARC is up towards around 200 or so MB's, if I create the following on four separate VM's and run vdbench at just about the same time, it will be attempting to read more data than can possibly fit in the cache.

    ah... it's almost always the second set of eyes.  Yes, it is run from a script.  And I just looked and realized that the list last line didn't have the \# in it.  Here's the line:
       "Proceed to the "Test Setup" section, but do something like `while true; do ./vdbench -f param_file; done` so the tests just keep repeating."
    I just added the hash to comment that out and am rerunning my script.  My guess is that it'll complete   Thanks Henk.

  • Error setting ErrorDestination property

  • Setting SpaceAfter property with Word ActiveX

    I am using the wordreport and Microsoft Word Object 9.0 Object Library instruments to generate a report.  I would like set the paragraph Space Before and Space After properties before generating my report.  In Word this is part of the paragraph formatting options.  I want to set both to 0 for my report.  According to the documentation on MSDN, these properties are part of the Paragraph collection in the ActiveX (the following is from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/bb208789%28v=office.12%29.aspx):
    Switching the space before a paragraph between 12 points and none
    The following example toggles the space-before formatting of the first paragraph in the selection. The macro retrieves the current space before value, and if the value is 12 points, the space-before formatting is removed (the SpaceBefore property is set to zero). If the space-before value is anything other than 12, the SpaceBefore property is set to 12 points.
    Sub ToggleParagraphSpace()
    With Selection.Paragraphs(1)
    If .SpaceBefore <> 0 Then
    .SpaceBefore = 0
    Else
    .SpaceBefore = 6
    End If
    End With
    End Sub
    I cannot find a function in the ActiveX library that sets this property. There are several Paragraph and Selection formatting functions, but none for Space Before or Space After.  Is it possible to set these properties through the ActiveX control?
    Tony G.

    Daniel,
    Thanks!  That's exactly what I was looking for.  I didn't realize it was hidden in the SetProperty function.  It seems odd that the ActiveX library includes paragraph formatting functions like ParagraphFmtTabIndent and ParagraphFmtSpace1, but it doesn't have explicit functions for SpaceBefore and SpaceAfter.
    For the benefit of anyone else who might be following this thread, I had to add a few functions to get some additonal ActiveX collection handles.  Here's what the final code looks like:
    ** GenerateLogFile **
    void GenerateLogFile(void)
        CAObjHandle DocHandle;
        CAObjHandle AppHandle;
        CAObjHandle CurrentSelectionHandle;
        CAObjHandle ParagraphFormatHandle;
        WordRpt_ApplicationNew(VTRUE, &AppHandle);
        WordRpt_DocumentNew (AppHandle, &DocHandle);
        WordRpt_SetReportLineSpacing (DocHandle, 1);
        Word_GetProperty (AppHandle,
                          NULL,
                          Word_ApplicationSelection,
                          CAVT_OBJHANDLE,
                          &CurrentSelectionHandle);
        Word_GetProperty (CurrentSelectionHandle,
                          NULL,
                          Word_SelectionParagraphFormat,
                          CAVT_OBJHANDLE,
                          &ParagraphFormatHandle);
        Word_SetProperty (ParagraphFormatHandle, NULL, Word_ParagraphsSpaceBefore, CAVT_FLOAT, 0.0);
        Word_SetProperty (ParagraphFormatHandle, NULL, Word_ParagraphsSpaceAfter, CAVT_FLOAT, 0.0);
        // create report using functions like WordRpt_AppendLine and WordRpt_InsertImage
        CA_DiscardObjHandle(AppHandle);
        CA_DiscardObjHandle(DocHandle);
        CA_DiscardObjHandle(CurrentSelectionHandle);
        CA_DiscardObjHandle(ParagraphFormatHandle);
    } /* GenerateLogFile */
    I have one last problem.  I've run this program on three different PCs.  All three are running the same versions of Windows 7 and Word 2007.  And yet on one of the three PCs, the WordRpt_InsertImage function doesn't work.  All the other text in the log file is present, but the bitmaps don't get inserted.  I thought that maybe there was a difference in the ActiveX control versions, but I can't find a way to determine what version of the ActiveX is intalled on each machine.  Or is there something else I should be looking at?

  • How to set bean property in jsf page

    Hi,
    Hopefully theres an easy solution, but I can't figure it out...
    I have a managed bean that spans several jsf pages.
    Within each page I want to set a flag that tells the bean which page it is serving (as well as some other params).
    How do I set a property of the bean in the page?
    I've tried
    <jsp:useBean id="filter3" scope="request" class="com.aol.rsistats.ui.FilterBean"/>
    <jsp:setProperty name="filter3" property="filterType" value="3"/>
    but that doesn't load the page through the normal JSF routine (and I initialise some values of the bean in the faces-config.xml file... so these are not initialiased when the setProperty is called) .
    (In general I get some strange behaviour when I mix jsf tags with jsp, or jstl, so I've avoided it as much as possilble)
    Is there another way?
    Cheers,

  • [Solved] Set domain name on systemd system

    Since the demise of rc.conf I have been unable to find out how to set the system's domain name. I tried "hostnamectl set-hostname hostname.domain" but it just set the hostname to "hostnamedomain". I also tried setting it manually through the hostname utility but it broke GUI applications (could not connect to display error). No luck with google or tge wiki either. Any ideas?

    First of all, see "man archlinux" for how to set the hostname.
    Second, is Bash treating the period as a special character? Try "hostnamectl set-hostname hostname\.domain".
    Thirdly, my hostname is just set to "archsystem". Are you thinking of what goes in "/etc/hosts"?
    # /etc/hosts: static lookup table for host names
    #<ip-address> <hostname.domain.org> <hostname>
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost archsystem
    ::1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    # End of file

  • Can't access msg server instance through admin console

    I am running
    Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-5.02 (built Oct 12 2007; 32bit)
    libimta.so 6.3-5.02 (built 17:15:31, Oct 12 2007; 32bit)
    SunOS cosmos.scranton.edu 5.10 Generic_118833-36 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V245
    along with [20/Feb/2008:14:39:46 -0500] - Sun Java(TM) System Directory Server/5.2_Patch_4 B2005.230.0041 (64-bit) as the config DS
    The console webserver is
    [20/Feb/2008:14:42:00] info (26032): SunONE-WebServer-Enterprise/6.0SP3 B05/19/2004 02:48
    and
    # ./mpsadmconfig -version
    Administration Server Command Line (admconfig) version 5.2
    Copyright (c) 2001 Sun Microsystems, Inc.
    I can manage the DS through the Console just fine. If I try to access the msg server nothing happens.
    I see the following error in the ds admin-serv/logs/error log
    [21/Feb/2008:08:41:35] warning (26033): for host ::ffff:134.198.6.4 trying to GET /msg-config/tasks/operation/cgi_root, send-cgi reports: cannot find CGI program /opt/luminis/products/ds/bin/msg/admin/bin/cgi_root (No such file or directory)
    This cgi_root file is a pointer to /opt/luminis/products/mail/lib/cgimsg which does not exist
    It applied patch 115610-25 which (I'm under the impression) has the Admin console in it. It didn't fix it though
    So, does anyone know of a patch that just has the Admin Server / Console or does anyone running 32 bit Sparc Solaris 10 have a cgimsg file they can lend me? (I'll give it right back!)

    I can't argue with that Shane. Well you can argue but there isn't anything I can do about it unfortunately. The decision to stop using the admin console was a 'big-picture' sort of deal.
    Well sort of - this didn't work when I first installed msg 6.2-4.04. The core patch 6.3-5.02 (120228-25) was applied through smpatch more or less inadvertently. Anyway I guess I will have to learn the command line interface. I really only wish to apply certs to the various services and turn on ssl
    I was able to request and apply the cert through msgcert, so I will try the next steps and see how it goesmsgcert was added to 6.3 for entirely this reason -- a replacement was required for the functionality lost due to the dropping of the admin console.
    Regards,
    Shane.
