[SOLVED] Yaourt: not found on AUR
When I try to run
yaourt -Syu --aur
I am told that
yaourt: not found on AUR
This is given for all packages I've installed from the AUR.
I am behind a http proxy, but have exported this variable in my shell. And I know that at least some of these packages are updated from when I last did an upgrade.
I can't find an answer on the wiki or searching these forums; am I just being stupid, or can someone help me? Thanks.

Try changing your http proxy in /etc/wgetrc instead.

[Solved] yaourt and liblbxutil: not found on AUR?
When running yaourt I am receiving the following notice: liblbxutil: not found on AUR
Previous runs of yaourt did not produce this message. Where did the package go and how to fix?
Last edited by BKJ (2008-11-12 00:45:46)I found it in the ABS tree even though it doesn't seem to exist in any of the repos anymore. You may want to file a bug report. I don't know if it's being used by anything. It's listed as installed as a dependency but not required by anything.

Hi, when I run

It's quite strange. I tried

and it works well. Could someone help me with it?

There are some updates to all the pacman, yaourt and AUR web pages,
so can you try this:
1. upgrade pacman itself first
2. upgrade yaourt itself, then
3. and last, try full system upgrade.
These errors seem familiar, but I have no idea how it disappeared. -
Aurbuild says "not found in aur"!!!
I was trying to install some package from unsupported using aurbuild, but strangely it gives me the following error:
[root@bluehead shantanu]# aurbuild -sae thinkingrock
Editor environmental variable not set. Using nano...
thinkingrock: not found in AUR
Whereas if I search the same package using aurbuild -S it does return back the package.
I also installed abs and did abs to update /var/abs but still aurbuild gives me the same error.
Can I get some help?@ravisghosh: I'm not sure what could have caused that bug. But it seems to be working in aurbuild 1.8.3
@bender02: I fixed that bug with arch='any' packages in 1.8.3 as well -
[SOLVED] Device not found and kernel panic
Hi,
I'm having an issue with the kernel. I get this weird error while booting:
Booting the kernel.

:: running hook [udev]

ERROR: device '' not found. Skipping fsck.
ERROR: Unable to find root device ''.
You are being dropped to a recovery shell
Type 'exit' to try and continue booting
sh: can't access tty: job control turned off
[rootfs /]# _
I don't have the slightest idea what to type in that shell, so I exit (^D) and get an error with its shell, another one and finally a kernel panic. Do I have to report the other two error as well? I think this might be related to a recent change in my syslinux.cfg. I wanted to add hibernation cabability to my arch, so I added "resume=/dev/sda2" (my swap) to kernel options. It should not yield such a result though. As a matter of fact, I get it even if I remove that parameter at runtime. For now, I managed to boot with Fallback Initramfs.
Here is syslinux.cfg, as well:

# /boot/syslinux/syslinux.cfg
# Comboot modules:

# * vesamenu.c32 - provides a graphical menu

[SOLVED] yaourt how to update aur packages
Hi!
I got a quick question. I thought that yaourt is able to update old packages installed from Aur automatically.
So for example I type as usually yaourt -Syu --aur but I noticed it doesn't show AUR packages I can update. Only from core/extra/community
For example I just typed:
yaourt yaourt
1 aur/yaourt 0.9.2.6-1 [0.9.2.5-1 installed] (2406)
and see that I can update yaourt. I have other packages installed from AUR, how do I know that a newer version is available without checking it manually?
edit:
so I am happy to mark it as solved. It wasn't a bug, but it is a way how yaourt works.
yaourt -Syu --aur shows packages from core/extra/community.
If I press Y (to install them). It shows a list again with the information how much to download and install and then after pressing "No" to install them, yaourt continues to check AUR packages in this case.
Julien MISCHKOWITZ, the developer said he could change the behavior
Thanks everyone for the attention!

[SOLVED] command not found - can anyone help a newbie out with this
Hi everyone,
Sorry to be asking such basic information, but I hope you can help...
I just installed Arch...
I am logged in as root and I get this error:
# hwd
-bash: hwd: command not found
For future reference, how should I go about finding out what package(s) I need to install in order to be able to use a particular command? (in this case, the hwd command)
Also, is there some configuration I may need to perform in order to make a particular command work (in this case hwd) ??
Thank you!
Last edited by onthenickel (2009-07-19 07:50:58)Thanks!
Probably the wiki article for Xorg should be updated as it refers the user to use hwd. I'll see if I can manage to edit it... I've never edited a wiki before. I'm learning all sorts of new stuff today :-)

[SOLVED]: gnutls not found after LXDE install attempt
After issuing the following command as root:
# pacman -S lxde
many console messages ensue, among them:
error: failed retrieving file 'gnutls-2.8.6-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz' from mirror.rit.edu : Not Found
This message is repeated for each of the other five mirrors in my list.
All the other packages seem to have been retrieved all right.
At the end of the process, the following messages appear:
warning: failed to retrieve some files from extra
error: failed to commit transaction (Not Found)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
I tried
# pacman -S gnutls
and got the same results as above, with the same version number in the error message, and the same three messages at the end.
I searched for gnutls in the package database, and found gnutls to be at version 2.10.4-1 .
I have searched the Arch wiki, forums, and beginner's guide for this issue, with no success, and have tried Googling the Web with various combinations of the words arch, lxde, gnutls, and "not found", also with no success.
This is my first attempt at installing Arch, but not my first experience with Linux. All has gone well up until now; the Arch CLI environment has been functioning well.

[SOLVED] command not found when chrooted into Debian
I have used Debian previously. I have a debian chroot on a separate partition which sole purpose is apache2 server. I use apache2 in chroot, so everytime I reinstall my main system, all my projects are left there in this system untouched. The chroot was created with Debian's debootstrap. Now when I moved from Debian to Arch, I can't use this chroot. When I chroot into it I can't execute any command there, all I get is command not found, even on things such as ls, rm, mv.
Does it mean that I have to create a chroot for server again, using Arch linux or is there a way to get this Debian working?
Last edited by kox (2015-05-02 20:13:22)I don't think the `arch-chroot` script will work for a Debian system but I could be wrong.
Have you tried mounting /proc, /sys & /dev first and sourcing the shell profiles afterwards?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ch … ing_chroot
This shouldn't make any difference as the chroot fstab should already have entries for these but you never know...
Maybe you should copy /etc/hosts & /proc/mounts from your new Arch system into your Debian chroot.

@WorMzy -- the shell built-ins are not working so I don't think it's a $PATH issue.

[SOLVED] Command Not Found
I feel like this is some stupid error I am overlooking, but after searching I cannot figure out why the command is not found.
$ dmenu-with-yeganesh
zsh: command not found: dmenu-with-yeganesh
$ echo $PATH
/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/bin/core_perl:~/.xmonad/bin
$ ls -Alh ~/.xmonad/bin
total 4.0K
-rwxr-xr-x 1 name name 268 Jun 20 13:24 dmenu-with-yeganesh
Last edited by chetjan (2014-06-20 21:04:45)The "~/.xmonad/bin" part in the $PATH is wrong. It should have been expanded to /home/$USER/.xmonad/bin; probably because you quoted the tilda in your .zshrc.

Last edited by paramthegreat (2009-05-16 21:46:08)ok, so i seem to have solved the issue. i found a changelog for yaourt 0.9.2 that mentioned "fixing aur search". that prompted me to check the yaourt version on my machine and it was still at 0.9.0
upgrading to the latest version seems to have fixed the problem. -
[SOLVED]Yaourt not requiring Sudo
I just installed in yaourt through the archlinuxfr repository method, and I realized that yaourt -Syua updates both the aur and non-aur packages -- without requiring root privileges. I think that that is potentially harmful. Is there something that can remedy this?
I am using termite/zsh and I did a bit of reading:
https://github.com/robbyrussell/oh-my-zsh/pull/488
Seems like they made a change here? I don't have any aliases in my zshrc though.
Thanks in advance.
Last edited by 3xOSC (2013-07-19 23:13:43)Not sure but i speculate the NOPASSWD tag was used in the soduers file. Here's an extract of sudoers man page:
NOPASSWD and PASSWD
By default, sudo requires that a user authenticate him or herself before running a command. This behavior can be modified via the NOPASSWD tag.
Like a Runas_Spec, the NOPASSWD tag sets a default for the commands that follow it in the Cmnd_Spec_List. Conversely, the PASSWD tag can be used to
reverse things. For example:
ray rushmore = NOPASSWD: /bin/kill, /bin/ls, /usr/bin/lprm
would allow the user ray to run /bin/kill, /bin/ls, and /usr/bin/lprm as root on the machine rushmore without authenticating himself. If we only
want ray to be able to run /bin/kill without a password the entry would be:
ray rushmore = NOPASSWD: /bin/kill, PASSWD: /bin/ls, /usr/bin/lprm
Note, however, that the PASSWD tag has no effect on users who are in the group specified by the exempt_group option.
By default, if the NOPASSWD tag is applied to any of the entries for a user on the current host, he or she will be able to run ``sudo -l'' without a
password. Additionally, a user may only run ``sudo -v'' without a password if the NOPASSWD tag is present for all a user's entries that pertain to
the current host. This behavior may be overridden via the verifypw and listpw options.
Obviously, this is kinda dangerous, specially if OP had/has ALL:ALL rights....
Anyway. OP said he didn't run "sudo yaourt" but "yaourt" alone. Does that mean yaourt has some kind of condition in its code where basically if user isn't root, it attempts to run exec commands with sudo?

[Solved] Init not found for new kernels
Hello everyone,
I am experiencing this error message when booting using either the linux-3.7.x or linux-ck-3.8.x kernels. I would investigate towards something being wrong with systemd (i.e. the init= line suggested), but the system boots perfectly fine using linux-lts-3.0.56.1.
Relevant information I can think of:
/ is ext4, LVM. The lvm -3 update has not been done yet.
mkinitcpio 0.13.0-1
I am mostly interested in any direction towards what to investigate -- the fact that there is something wrong with the init not being found, but only for certain kernels, perplexes me.
Thanks for any help,
Jan

Here is what lsinitcpio gives me. They all include /usr/bin/init, and in fact the same init related things.

print $i
lsinitcpio $i | grep init
done
initramfs-linux-lts.img
./init
./init_functions
./usr/bin/init
./usr/lib/udev/rules.d/11-dm-initramfs.rules
./etc/initrd-release

./init
./init_functions
./usr/bin/init
./usr/lib/udev/rules.d/11-dm-initramfs.rules

./init_functions
./usr/bin/init
./usr/lib/udev/rules.d/11-dm-initramfs.rules
