Some issues connecting Tecra 9100 to TV

I hope im putting this question in the right thread.
i have been trying to connect my laptop/notebook to my tv without success i put cable in left hand side of notebook and connect other end to video out on tv i then switch both off and back on again but nothing happens.
Also the Tosh button does not do anything when pressed and the fn button to control the F buttons along the top also do not change anything.
I have disabled these anyway and is there a way to get them working again.
I have the discs to reset to factory settings. Will i need to use these and/or will i lose the content stored on my notebook?
If anyone can help me with the above problems i would be most grateful,

Usually the using of the FN+F5 buttons should enable the external display devices.
You could switch between the internal notebooks display, external monitor or TV.
If the buttons dont work then there must be something wrong with the drivers or the system files
The usage of the recovery CD would be advisable because this would set the notebook back to the factory settings and generally this helps to get the Toshiba features working.
But the usage of the recovery CD will format the partition (HDD).
So if you need you files then it would be advisable to backup the data
However, to connect the TV to the notebook you will have to use the right s-video cable. On some TVs you will need to enable the s-video option (channel). Then you should use the FN+F5 buttons to switch to the TV.

    Hi! I have a Tecra 9100, which has just been reinstalled with a recovery disk and all Win XP updates and patches has been done. And all Toshiba specific issues have been fixed.... BUT still my WiFi card is not found by the OS. What could be the problem?
    My Bluetooh works all fine, and responds to power on/off, but there is no reaction from the WiFi card. I have also tried to replace the WiFi board with another, but still no action.
    Is there a "power-supply" only for the WiFi board that could be checked? An y other components that can be replaced? I have another computer that I can take/switch components from...
    Edit: I have also upgraded the BIOS to 1.60

    The OS does not recognice the WLAN card in the device manager, and there really is a WiFi card in the PC, and it is a compatible one.
    Both cables are connected in the same places as on the first WiFi card, and the WLAN drivers are also installed...
    Switch in front is enabled, and I hvae tried the Fn+F8, but nothing happens.
    Is there any drawings of connections internal in the PC anywhere, or install instructions for installing WiFi card just to ensure that everything is done right? My guess is that either is there a lack of power to thw WiFi card or there is a error on the mainboard / bus that does that the OS will not see the WiFi card, but any other options / suggestions are welcome to be tried...

  • How to use engineer's diagnostic CD for Tecra 9100

    Has anyone used the Tecra Engineer's Diagnostic CD for the 9100 (or any other model if they are similar)? I have acquired the CD and have been able to get some of the diagnostics tests to run by booting to DOS 6.22 and the running the tests straight off the CD. There is probably a "correct" way to use this CD but I do not have any documentation.
    Specifically, I'm trying to diagnose an irksome sound card problem -- it's not recognized by Windows and I can't install the Yamaha drivers. I've basically replaced EVERYTHING on this laptop and still no sound.
    By EVERYTHING, I mean: both mainboards (upper/lower); sound card (three different cards!); CPU --- what else is there that could be connected to sound?
    Anyway, if anyone can provide some guidance on using the Tecra 9100 Engineer's Diagnostic CD it would be greatly appreciated.

    Maybe you have experience in computers but such CD was designed especially for the diagnostic tests on the Toshiba notebooks.
    It has nothing to do with the usual computer tests and was designed not for everyone.
    I think the service technicians need more documentations as only such CD to run a diagnostic test.
    Such documentations are available only for the service partners and not for common persons therefore you will not find such documents for a personal usage.
    By the way; I agree with Silas. Its a stupid idea to post something about the engineers CD in the Toshiba forum because such CD its not for everyone.

  • Hi speed USB via an Advanced Port Replicator for a Tecra 9100?

    I have the same issue with a Tecra 9100 and upgrading it to hi speed USB as an earlier post where the suggested solution was to use a PCMCIA card.

    I had an idea but i don't know if it will work and need some advice?????
    Can you buy an Advanced Port Replicator that has Hi Speed USB 2.0 ports on it (like the APR II PA3082U which works with the Tecra 9100) instead of the PCMCIA card.
    If the Port Replicator docks into the motherboard will it give you Hi Speed USB 2.0 or is the Tecra 9100 constrained to USB 1.1 via the hardware within the laptop itself and the port replicator won't help?
    Also if I go down the Port Replicator route do i need any drivers for the Hi speed ports of the Port Replicator to work on the Tecra 9100?
    Or to ask the question another way - what does the PCMIA USB 2.0 card have in it that the Advanced Port Replicator with hi speeed USB doesn't have?

    Hi there,
    the Tecra 9100 has NO usb 2.0 and thats a fact. Since the port replicator has these USB 2.0 ports does not mean that your machine, when docked to the Portrep, is able to handle USB 2.0 devices. The portrep is just like an usb-hub and behaves like. So if your machine doesnt have it then thats it.
    And the explanation to the PCMCIA/Cardbus solution:
    The pcmcia card has USB 2.0 Chipset, thats the reason why it IS a USB 2.0 device (roothub).

    Just purchase that card and you will have USB 2.0

  • New user - Some issues I want to resolve

    I purchased my mac 2nd hand about 6 weeks ago (24" Mid 2007, 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM) and got it home and set it up and everything has been working flawlessly. Also purchased a magic mouse & trackpad which have also been working fine.
    I received an email last night from a friend with some PDF docuements for work, and since then I have been having some issues. Dont know if this has any relevance whatsoever or just completely coincidence.
    Issues I have encountered so far are :
    1) I noticed was my trackpad was real laggy, to the point of unusable.
    2) I can hear a buzz/hum which I never used to hear, hard to tell if it's the optical drive or hard drive, but something sounds like it is constantly spinning - im a bit anal about things like this and it really bugs me, especially as it wasnt doing this before
    3) My WiFi connection is proving to be problematic coming from sleep / cold boot. If I click on the WiFi icon in the taskbar it will not display any available networks and just says "looking for networks". If I then click on "Join network" > "Show Networks" this then shows me available networks. If I then choose my network, it takes a long time (about 30-60 seconds) to display the WPA2 password box. I then enter my password and I see the icon in the taskbar goto a full 5 bars, but the screen where I enter my password still says "Connecting..." and eventually results in a "Connection failed!" even though the connection is actually there and I can browse the internet.
    4) Generally feeling "laggy", eg opening System Preferences can take 30+ seconds
    What I have tried to do to fix these problems
    1) Unpaired and repaired which seems to of rectified the issue
    2) Finding it hard to differentiate if the hum is from optical or hard disc. If I hold my hand on the back of my Mac I can feel vibration close to the centre, by the stand support.
    Have tried running Disk Checker to see if it identifies any S.M.A.R.T errors but all came back ok. It did find some faults with Disk Permission's which I fixed.
    3) This is the one that is really annoying me and have tried several recommendations found on the internet, including ;
    Turning wifi on/off
    Turning router on/off
    Changing settings in energy saver
    Removing saved wifi networks / re-adding
    Removing passwords from keychain
    Updating to OS X 10.8.5
    4) As I am a new user, I do not fully understand what I am doing yet, but I have opened up the Activity Monitor and noticed that there is a high CPU load quite consistently (also back of mac appears quite hot to the touch). I have noticed that parentalcontrolsd seems to be consuming a lot of CPU time, even though I dont have parental controls on. It is usally 80%+ CPU. Also ocspd appears to be quite a cpu hog too (constant 20-50%)
    This all happened on Friday 13th! lol
    Any help with any of the above would be appreciated.

    In Activity Monitor, select the processes with the high CPU use and quit them using the Quit button at the top left.
    Also try a restart.

  • Some issues of BPM 11g R1

    I'm testing Oracle BPM Suite 11g R1. Below are some issues to be considered :
    1. Organization Unit issue - In BPM Workspace, after creating an Organization Unit, we've assigned members and a manager. As all the organizational members (and only them) should be able to see the process, in our case the manager and some of the Organization users still not be able to see the process?
    So, how can we associate a process to the organizational unit that we have created before?
    Otherwise, is there any difference between Organization Unit that is created in JDeveloper and deployed with the process and the one created in the BPM Workspace after the deployment of the process? What is the best way to create an Organization unit?
    2. Process Owner issue - Process Owners are responsible for the overall supervision of the running business process. In our case, the participant with the process owner role doesn't see it's process. Is there any others parameters to add in BPM Workspace when defining the process owner?
    3. BPM Composer errors:
    - After converting a BPM project P1 to a template and published it to the BPM MDS, I created a new project, P2, based on the template in BPM Composer. I'm able to edit the process within the project P2 based on the edit policies defined by the template in BPM Composer. However, no change (update) on the P2 is not taken into account when republishing to MDS. Moreover, the deployment of P2 from BPM Composer to BPM runtime doesn't work?
    - The deployment attempts of processes from BPM Composer to the running environment failed every time, and we get the following error message:
    “Deployment Failed: Error occurred during deployment of component: RequestHello to service engine: implementation.workflow, for composite: HelloBPM: ORABPEL-30124”

    5. Process Deployment exception - The following deployment error often occurs, within BPM Workspace, when we try to start an instance of the oldest version of the deployed processes. In our case we have 3 differents process versions.

    Responses to your questions
    (1) You need to associate Organization Unit with your BPM Project. To do this, go to BPM Studio/Organizational Chart/ From Repository option. Connect to your Application Server and select the Organization Unit. This will associate OU to the BPM Project. Please note that when an OU is defined, the member will be able to see only the process tasks - only if he is associated to the OU and the swimlane role.
    (2) Process owner does not automatically become the owner of the tasks associated with the process. This is a limitation and will be addressed in a future release.
    (3) Deployment error due to duplicate task forms is a known issue. Currently the product generates unique namespaces for User Interfaces for the different Project variants dervied from the same "Project Template". However, it does not check to see if a Project with User Interfaces with conflicting namespaces is already deployed. To get around your issue, first undeploy the Sales Quote Project ---- then you do deploy the Project variants.
    (4) Oracle BPM Suite uses Oracle Platform Security Services (OPSS) for LDAP integration. We have forwarded your request to the OPSS group and awaiting a response.
    (5) Undeploy and then do a fresh deploy. This bug will be fixed soon.

    1) If I don't have a column named type I get an error -This, unfortunately, is something that we need to clarify in the spec
    itself. Currently, the discriminator value and column for a class have
    default values in the spec. So technically, every base class has a
    discriminator column according to spec defaults.
    Obviously this isn't practical. In fact Kodo already turns off
    automatic discriminator columns for vertical and table-per-class
    inheritance unless you explicitly give a discrimintor value or column.
    So one way to not use a discriminator column in Kodo right now is to set
    your inheritance type to JOINED or TABLE_PER_CLASS. Another way is to
    use Kodo's kodo.persistence.jdbc.DiscriminatorStrategy annotation, which
    allows you to name a non-standard or custom discriminator strategy.
    Setting this annotation's value to "final" (an alias for Kodo's
    kodo.jdbc.meta.strats.NoneDiscriminatorStrategy) will indicate that the
    class doesn't need a discriminator because it won't be extended.
    We will try to get this ironed out in future versions of the spec.
    If I specify a fully qualified name for the EJBQL the first time I query
    then I can just use 'Beer' in subsequent queries. It doesn't help to
    specify '@Entity(name="Beer")' in the persistent class either.This sounds like a bug in our early access implementation. I have a
    feeling it only occurs with property access entities -- if you change
    your entity to use field access (which also means using Kodo
    enhancement), I think you'd see the problem go away. I think it might
    also go away if you performed some other persistence operation on a Beer
    entity (such as a by-id lookup) before attempting the query. We'll make
    sure to have this fixed for our next release. Thanks for the report.

  • Issue connecting with iTunes Match

    Hi, i've got an issue connecting with iTunes Match. Most of the time iTunes doesn't connect to iTunes Match when launching the app. I just see the cloud symbol that indicates it tries to connect. And it just keeps on going. I then have to quit iTunes and relaunch it. Type in my Apple ID password. And still nothing. But around a third or fourth time I usually get a connecting going and then listen to music
    And I'm not impatient. I give it some minutes everytime while opening and browsing the iTunes Store.
    And the same thing happens after Sleep Mode. It is kind of annoying. Having open and close iTunes all the time.
    Is there anything I can do? Am I perhaps doing something wrong? Is anyone experiencing the same problem or issue?

  • Charge on 2.2.1 and some issues that I found.

    After I bought my charge and my daughters LG revolution on the SAME day my daughters phone was updated that day to 2.2.3 (Gingerbread)  while my phone is running an OS lower than I had on my Droid 1.  Now this bothers me as the 2.2.2 updates some issues that were found in 2.2.1.  What I dont understand is 2.2.2 has been OTA for a at least 5 months maybe more and I am confused?  What has been frustrating is I used my Droid 1 for 2 years NEVER had major issues like dropped calls or the BT not connecting.  I changed phones because the DROID 1 will no longer be getting updates which concerns me if issues were found in current OS that is has will not be updated. 
    I am also concerned with this phone ringer going silent, I have not changed any default settings meaning the ringers and notifications are all the same.  I used this phone for work as well for personal  and the other night I missed 3 important calls because the ring tone for calls was silent.  Thinking that I may have turned down the volume to low I pushed the vol up button and low and behold the volume was maxed out.  I checked the ring tone for the calls and found it was on "silent"  I was shall we say upset. 
    I also now notice that I only have email running on this phone and nothing else, I dont have apps running like most people and my battery dies at the drop of a hat.  For instance the other day after letting the battery completely die to the point the phone turned off.  I hooked the phone up to the wall charger and let charge for about 8 hours.  I fully expected the phone to stayed charged for at least that amount of time.  I took off at 9 am and by 2:30 - 3 the phone was screaming at me to put on the charger.  My Droid 1 would go a day and half with out needing a charge, day and half. 

    Here is something I found by accident.  Let's say you are on the home page or elsewhere and you either purposely or accidentally press the down volume button (left side of phone) and it goes down to zero volume as in silent mode.
    In the charge that resets the ringer volume to zero volume and puts checkmark in the SETTINGS>SOUND SETTINGS> SILENT MODE until you either go there and uncheck it OR again press the up volume button on the left side of the phone to raise the volume from zero.
    My point is, just like I did, you may have done it yourself.  I do hope that is the case because it's so easy to fix.
    OTOH, it does make it easy to silence your phone if you're in a movie, Doctor's office or so forth.

    The troubleshooting guide refers to error numbers but none of the failures provide error numbers.

    Since you are experiencing the difficulty with multiple web browser then it would need to be caused by something global such as anti virus software. Any software which will affect your web browsers ability to accept cookies and secure connections could be causing the behavior you are experiencing.
    I would also recommend clearing your cache and cookies if you have not done so already.
    If you can please update this discussion with the software title and version of the software, affecting your ability to download Adobe software, it would be appreciated.

  • Tecra 9100: Headphones out doesn't work

    at my Tecra 9100, the Headphones connector doesn't work. The internal speaker do well. If i plug in headphones or external speakers, the internals are being switched off, but at the external devices i can't hear anything.
    My soundcard generally works, i thought there could be a chance to fix this just by dis- and reconnection the wire/board from the front connectors to the sound board ... but i've never done any technichal stuff at a Tecra, so it would be nice if someone could give me some input how and where i would have to open it, and if this is even a chance to fix my problem.

    According to your problem description I presume that Audio headphone port is defective. There is small switch that switch between internal and external speakers.
    I have the same unit and it works well on my unit. I am afraid that you must contact service partner and check this mechanical connector.

    I was connecting fine until today. Had some intermittent issues connecting before, but not it just remains not connected. Have reset network, toogled wifi switch etc., Nothings working...o' yeah, restored it too.

    Did you try rebooting the router?
    Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again.
