Some reports need to be recompiled to work!

Hi All,
I've created a lot of reports some of it is still working till this moment without recompiling and no problems, Some of it is working successfully for some times but the form gives me an error when calling it: REP-1247: Report contains uncompiled PL/SQL or another error sometimes!. and When I recreate the rep file again using ctrl+t it returns to work successfully!
Why this happens? and what is the solution Plz?
Note: I'm using Oracle DB 10g R2 and Forms 6i

Why this happens? Probably because somebody else changed a dependant object in the database.
and what is the solution Plz?Recompile is the correct solution.
Alternatively, you can use rdf instead of rep files.

  • Some reports do not work after upgraded to Crystal Report 2008

    Hi All,
    After upgraed from Crystal Report XI to Crystal Report 2008, some reports work fine. others not. All of the not-working reports have the same problem: Database connection failed.
    And I can even not be able to create a brand new report. The problem looks like following:
        1. Created a new ASP.NET solution in Visual Studio 2008. The page file is default.aspx
        2. Created an empty Crystal Report file: CrystalReportTEST.rpt
        3. Asign CrystalReportTEST.rpt to default.aspx
        4. Run default.aspx. It works fine
        5. Just connect to database without place any field to the report
        6. Run default.aspx again. It does not work. It shows blank screen with the message "Database logon failed." on the top-left corner.

    I have tested many times again for creating new report in new solution. It looks like that, the preview in VS2008 always work fine, but when runing the application, sometimes it works sometimes does not work. I have not still found the role. Following step shows my testing process:
    1. Start Visual Studio 2008
    2. Go to menu "File->New->Web Site..."
    3. In dialogbox "New Web Site"
              a. Highlight "ASP.NET Crystal Reports Web Site"
              b. Select location "File System"
              c. Select language "Visual C#"
              d. Select "E:\JL\CrystalReportsWebSite1"
              e. Click button "OK"
    4. It appears dialogbox "Crystal Reports Gallery"
              a. Select "Using the Report Wizard" in portion of "Create a New Crystal Report Document"
              b. Select "Standard" in portion of "Choose an Expert"
              c. Click button "OK"
    5. It appears dialogbox "Standard Report Creation Wizard"
              a. Click button "Cancel"
    6. It is back to page edit view of "CrystalReport1.rpt"
    7. Click button "Main Report Preview". It shows the preview with blank page
    8. Click button "Main Report". It came back to the edit view
    9. Go to menu "Crystal Reports -> Database -> Database Expert...", dialogbox "Database Expert" appears. Select table u201Cactivity_cdu201D as showing in following screen shot:
    10. Click button u201COKu201D. It returns to the edit view without any changes
    11. Place some fields into the report, then click button "Main Report Preview". It shows the preview with data
    12. Run application by pressing key F5 or key combinition Ctrl+F5, it shows up database connection import screen
    13. Close the browser and back to file Default.aspx, change u201CEnableDatabaseLogonPromptu201D to u201DFalseu201D and run the application again, it shows following message "Database logon failed."

  • Export to PDF fails for some reports, but report viewer works

    Hi all
    Our application produces several different reports.
    - Report A can successfully be viewed in the ASP.NET report viewer control and can be exported to PDF
    - Reports B and C can successfully be viewed in the ASP.NET report viewer (all pages),  but export to PDF fails with a very unclear error message. The stack trace is attached below.
    Two days ago, reports B and C have fully worked, and I'm sure by 100% that the report templates haven't been modified since then.
    Can anyone explain what is going wrong? Is there some internal logging inside Crystal Reports that can be investigated to find out about the reasons of the error?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    PS.: The Crystal Libraries under investigation are quite old. In fact, it is a very old application that still runs under .NET 1.0.

    please try to find out more details.
    You say it is data dependent. Could you be a bit more specific. What data work or do not work ?
    As a good test pls see if our samples reports work. They come with a default installation. If you do not have them any more - get them from [here|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100005852352008E/cr_xi_xtreme_rep_smpl_en.zip].
    Can you display and export them ? Do you get the same error ?

    First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
    There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
    If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
    If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
    Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
    Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
    If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
    Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select

  • Reasons for Introducing database functions for Discoverer Reporting Needs

    Hi All,
    I would like to know the criteria other organizations have used in creating custom database functions specifically for Discoverer reporting needs. It seems good and appropriate to identify these reasons in order that they have a sufficiently good reason (e.g. in presenting this to a change management board).
    Here is a quick swipe:
    -query explain plan improvements
    -take away the complexity of having the end user deal with complex calculations
    -consistency of a value (e.g. a complex amortization calculation)
    -an attribute is used from a dependent table with a minimum cardinality of zero
    Can anyone list other good reasons in terms of Discoverer reporting?

    In addition to the reasons you have given the reasons for having functions anyway apply just as equally to Discoverer as they do to other applications.
    Typically the main reasons why I would use a function are:
    a) due to the complexity of the code, or
    b) to evaluate something which an end user either could not do or does not have access to.
    For example if a user needs to have aggregations from multiple tables side by side in a report, typically from tables which have no joins between them, I write functions to go get the individual results.
    One specific function that I use a lot is one that calculates the number of working days between any given two days. Some of my HR customers use such a function to calculate the number of sick days for an employee when obviously only working days should count. Doing this in a normal Discoverer calculation would be very hard. Retail customers might use this for calculating the number of days it took to ship and item.
    There are other reasons why I use functions but these are the typical ones.

  • Restrict the graphs in some reports

    Hi all,
    We've designed a web template for our reports. This template has 'Chart' web item and we've made this template as the defualt template for all our BI reports.
    But we have few reports fro which we don't want graphs. One solution is to make template without 'Chart'  web item for each such kind of reports where we don't want the graphs but this adds up more maintenance work.
    Is there a way by which we could use only one web template(defualt template) and hide the graphs for some reports ?

    If i have understood your query properly :
    U have created a template with table and Chart and made this as a default template so that any one can use this template as reference and same template can be used by 'Save As' and give different tech name and Description as per the new query they are working on....! Am i rite ?
    If yes, then this is a standard practice and this is how we managed in one of our project.
    But we have few reports for which we don't want graphs. One solution is to make template without 'Chart' web item for each such kind of reports where we don't want the graphs but this adds up more maintenance work.
    Now coming to the requirement u need to display chart for some on the queries and for some of the queries u need not to display chart at all !  Am i rite ?
    if Yes , then in the standard template for Web item chart let the default display property be 'Visible' and so when ever a new report requirement comes where in u need not to display the chart then simply make a copy (save as) of your default template choose the chart item and change the property to 'hidden' and the chart item remains hidden for this new report.
    Also there is no maintanace as well becoz u have your standard template intact and all u r doing is making a copy of the template and changing the simple property of the chart web item either 'display' or 'hidden'. as per the requirement.
    Also i would like to add a line here even if u have 2 chart items in your template and u want cherry pick the chart to display and hide u can do that, If Chart 1 needs to be hidden and select chart item 1 and change the property to Display or hidden as per the requirement.

    Could you all please let me know what reports would you need to monitor a database. I am writing something that one could use to monitor database. not like statspack which would take snaps at regular intervals but a GUI where in you would click on a particular button a get the report at that instance. some reports like indexes that need rebuild. queries taking lot of time...users, their roles,undo stats, cache hits..
    So do let me know what all reports u can think of and i will try and put them together.. doing it for my dissertation work.. so please please help with your valuable inputs..

    A good stuff is a program that shows when a event in v$system_event is out of range of normal condition operation(so you have to use some statistics functions, and store a continuos baseline), and what session is doing this injury.

  • SetDataSource not setting the data on some reports.

    I am working with a VB6 app, and it uses Crystal Reports 8.5.  It used to work when I had unbound fields on the reports, but my boss said we need to use bound data fields.
    So I changed the reports to use bound data, but only some of the reports now work.  The data being passed to the reports is in the form of a recordset.  I have a check in place to make sure there are records to post, and for some reports, it acts as though no data was passed at all.
    On some reports I get an error "Unable to access first record."  Then it tells me "SQL Server Error."  But I am using MS Access as the datasource, and I have checked to make sure that all the fields in the database have not changed in any way to what was used in design time.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    When passing a Record set to a report, the report should have been created using a TTX file. See the following articles:

  • BIP Report in Siebel mobile is not working in languages other than English

    We have upgraded our Siebel from 7.8 to Siebel 8.1 and in that we have moved from Actuate to BIP Reports. We have created a customized report in which we have put in the Filters on '.rtf' file to show a particular set of data. This report is deployed for 3 languages : English (ENU), Portuguese (PTB) and Spanish (ESN).After deploying this report, on Web application, it is working fine for all the languages but we are facing an issue on mobile client, the report is only working fine in ENU but for other languages(PTB & ESN) it is failing (means the filter which we put on '.rtf' is not working on other languages).
    Is anybody face this issue and what will be the solution for this?

    I think you need to first translate the smartform into other languages. Before translation, it wont work.
    Steps for translation:
    1. goto Transaction SE63
    2. in R3 Enterprise select form menu
    Translation - ABAP Objects - Other long texts
    3. select FS - SSF-Smart Form
    4. Object Name: choose your smart form
    5. select target language
    6. press edit

  • Some reports don't open in CrystalReportViewer

    We have a program that uses a CrystalReportViewer to open reports, and it's been working fine. Recently I made a report (with no parameters) in CR XI that will display correctly in the designer and show data, but when I try to open it in the program, it won't show up. The Viewer window appears, but it is just blank white. It has the status bar, but it just shows "Current Page No.:" and "Total Page No.:" with no information after them. I have even made a very simple report that uses no database access or parameters, and just has a simple text object in it, in addition to the date and page number. That one won't show up either.
    Does anyone have any idea of what might cause some reports to show up in CrystalReportViewer and others not?

    No responses yet... Here is a little more information.
    The program using these reports was made a few years ago, and the reports may have been made with an earlier version of Crystal Reports (10 or earlier). The existing reports open fine in the CrystalReportsViewer in this program. If I open one of these reports in a more recent Crystal Reports editor (version XI or even 2008), modify it, and save it, it will still display correctly.
    It is only when I create a new report in CR XI or 2008 that it gives me the blank report in this program, even if the report is as simple as possible.
    Any ideas now?

    The ones that work and the ones that don't all have the Build Action set to Embedded Resource.  I have tried removing a report from the project and then adding it back, but that made no difference.  A new report displayed fine. 
    Does anyone have any ideas about what could cause some of the reports to throw this exception?

    HOW LONG TIME YOU NEED TO MAKE GPS TO WORK WITH OVI MAP 3.1 in N97?
    On all N97 I know and as you can read here in forum the GPS doesn't work usable in N97 and with MAP 3.1.
    I believe that this is a software problem because often I get a GPS signal inhouse and in the wood, but from one second  to the other N97 lost the GPS signal. And this in the best weather condition under free sky. Sometimes gps signal works for 15 minutes, then the signal will drop every minute or so.
    The current position on map is shift (past) abaout 40-50 meters from the real position, so its unable to use.
    The calculated speed is always changing between 0 and the current speed. 
    I have updated phone to de newes software and firmware also to ne newest maps also has hard reseted and reformatet and the problem ist still the same. If I switch off the option "Maps improvment" (which SENDS DATA TO NOKIA!!!) the the drop outs are fewer. But evreytime the position on maps is shift about 40-50 Meters from right position. Is there a mistake in calculation the position?  Also the speed is jumping sometimes from 0 to x and back.
    CAN NOKIA TELL US WHEN THIS BUG WILL BE FIXED, AND CAN NOKIA OFFER US A REFUND.
    I have payed a lot for N97 and alot for the navigation licence and a lot for accesoires and a lot for the traffic security assistance. So I want a working phone! I dint have payed money for e alpha-stadium phone.
    If this is realy the quality of nokia phone, then It is the latest phone I have buyed from nokia.
    By the way, the phone has many many many many other bugs as described in this forum.

    NOKIA please answer us forum members, what you plan to do with the N97 bugs. When we can hope that the bugs are gone? Otherwise I will return my phone and want my money back and I sue for compensation.

    I have no word to disagree with you and hoping that Nokia soon will make some press statement or something else to tell us what they do with their flagship, sorry bugship Nokia N97.
    Could be a shame recognize errors, but it's worst not to say nothing ant let the bad news of Nokia N97 spread for internet even if they want to sell a Nokia N97 Mini in the near future.

  • Some links look clickable but don't work - Word 2010 with Acrobat PDF creation

    Word - Office home and student 2010
    I can create PDFs via Acrobat and Word on Windows 7,  but after editing the PDF with Acrobat on Mavericks OS X, only in-document links remain clickable. External web hyperlinks, both exposed URLs and blue text with URLs hidden under link text do not work in the PDFs that are edited on MacOS. They look like they work, because in the PDFs the hand cursor appears and you can click the links, but nothing happens in the browser.
    I can't find any troubleshooting information about this.
    My process:
    Word: Options: Advanced - remove check in "use ctrl-click to follow hyperlinks"
    Convert file using the Acrobat tab in the Word ribbon.
    Set compatibility to Acrobat 8
    Create PDF (icon)
    Click Options
    Check "create bookmarks"
    Convert Word Headings to Bookmarks
    Accept defaults, which are:
    Convert document information
    Enable Accessiblity
    Reflow the tagged Adobe PDF.
    The PDF is converted. Links all seem to work as expected.
    Take the PDF to MacOS Mavericks, add pages, optimize, using Acrobat on MacOS.
    Afterward, only some kinds of links in the PDF work.
    This is a new problem that seemed to start when I recently began to use Acrobat's subscription version on Windows instead of FoxIt to convert the Word docs on Windows.
    Q: Is this a known limitation that MacOS Acrobat creates unusable links despite the initial PDF conversion being done on Windows Acrobat?
    Q: Should I do something additional so that external links remain clickable after processing on MacOs?

    After some experimentation, it seems that the place where *some* links stop working is when I take a PDF file from Windows and optimize it on MacOS with Mac Acrobat Pro. All the links work *except* the kind where the URL is hidden behind blue underlined text. These look like they work but when you click them nothing happens.
    So to fix it, I think I need to optimize the PDFs on Windows Acrobat Pro.
    The MacOs Acrobat Pro, which I paid many hundreds of dollars for is therefore completely useless for documents with this kind of normal hypertext link.
    Also, Windows Acrobat Pro is required in order to ensure that table-of-contents links made in Word (MacOS) continue to work in the PDF. The trick there is to regenerate the TOC on Windows Word before using CreatePDF to convert it.
    I hope someone else benefits from this insight, because I wasted weeks of my life trying to troubleshoot this undocumented problem.

    as the title says, I had a problem with Windows Vista.
    I'm using CR2008, VS2008, and .NET 3.5 to develop web form.
    So, in every computer (WXP, W7) with IE9 works fine, but in Win Vista, some reports are displaying in a wrong way.
