This is my workflow.
1. I get the news letter from SAP Community .. i click on 2 or 3 articles of interest.
2. All directed URL's go to a login page
3. I log-in and i am directed to main page.
4. By now i have forgotten the article that held my interest, so i close my browser and get back to work.
I would recommend changing this to allow reading article in my workflow.

I am creating dimensions for my sales cube in which I am going to store Day level data with Customer and Material Data. I have to store all the Customer and Material Groups (1-5) in the cube as most of the reports are based on them. I have planned to created 2 seperate dimensions for Customer and Material and include all the Group fields as well in the respective dimensions. But, as Customer and Material master data itself are gonna be big, I am bit confused if it creates a performance issue if I include the groups in the same dimension. I remember that there is a rule like Dimension table should be < x% of cube (I didnot remember the exact figure)...Any suggestions on this design please...
I am in the process of creating process chain for my FI-GL and FI-AR flows. I am loading both line item and transaction level data for both of them. I am confused if I can include both the flows in the same chain or seperate ones? What is the sequence in loading the data i.e First Transaction or line item? First GL or AR? Any such dependencies?..Any help please...

Generally, if we need to take Characterstics like Document no as part of the cube then we define them as line item dimensions, becuase we can easily predict that the no of entries in those dimensions are almost equal to fact table entries. So ask your business process team to tell about no of new entries created for Material and customers.On that basis you can decide whether it should be a Line item Dimension or not. It is juat a hypothetical assumption.

I'm having problems with a piece of code, and i'd be extremely greatful if somebody could give me a hand with it. I'm totally new to java and have to make a program for my university degree, but i'm finding it extremely difficult, mainly due to my total lack of apptitude for this type of thing. I know this is easy stuff, but the books I have are no use so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have to write a program which uses two class files. I want one with the code to produce a simple button, and one to invoke it several times at different locations. I decided to write the program as one class file at first, and thought i'd be able to split it up at later. The program works fine when it is one class file. My book said that to split the two classes up, all i needed to do was change the second class to public, although this seems to not work at all. I'm at my wits end on this, and if anyone could correct my code I'd be eternally greatful.

My compiler generates errors relating to Button, but i can't do anything to please it.

Michael MorganI found that there are 5 error in your code.
1. You should import the "java.awt" package to the PhoneButton.java
2. The PhoneButton is not a kind of Component. You cannot not add it to the Phone class
3. the myButton = new PhoneButton(20, 20) does not provide enough parameters to create PhoneButton
4. You cannot add a Button to a PhoneButton. Becaue the PhoneButton is not a kind of Container

I just made a little api that provides a very simple way to make a thread observable by a progressdialg. The progressdialog can me configured in a lot of ways. This later will perhaps be in a little utillities-api, programmer can use.
I have a little design problem with that.

To use this progressdialog the programmer simply has to subclass
ProgressTask and override doProgress() (see MyProgressTask). And then use on object of that class as a runnable in a thread (see example application). Thats it. The problem with that design is that I could not hide all functions that are contained in the superclass ProgressTask from the user.
And if I would not have made the the methods final, the user could even
override them end delete/destroy their intended function. I don't know ,
maybe it is OK the way I have it right now. May thats how it is usually
done. But if you have any hints on improving this current design please feel free to tell me .....Id like to follow up with some questions:
1.) Oracle documentation states that PL/SQL is the preferred tool for data intensive jobs. And Java Stored Procedures are preferred for more algorithmic jobs. This seems contrary to what you state. Can you clearify?
2.) When you say gen. purpose and cpu bound Java code, do you mean algorithmic code?
3.) I assume the points 1 and 2 in your response suggest that it takes so long to get the Java environment up and running that it is killing the performance of my simple algorithm...is that what you mean?
4.) My real goal is to use intelligent agents (use AI algorithms that are very expensive computationally) and are invoked upon updates and continually train on newly inserted data. The fact these guys can live in the Oracle JVM, be invoked upon an update using a trigger and call an EJB client in warning of a particular condition is what made me fall in love with this solution that Oracle provides. But do you think I am asking too much or Im going a bit beyond what the JVM is for? -

I need to understand, what are the files are created, once created an ESB project.
What is the use of the files how to edit them with out using JDeveloper.
Iam trying to create a simple example.
I would like to create a file which has only "HELLO" in that file, simple text file inside a folder "INPUT" in my c:\ drive.
I wanted to create a ESB service which picks up the file and add a string to it like "HELLO" + "ESB" and drop this file into "OUTPUT" folder in c:\ drive.
How do i do that. I tried to do it when i deploy the integration server connection is gettting hit badly. I dont see that connection any more and i dont see that connection in my JDeveloper.
I dont want to start with existing code.

If you want to do it from scratch you can basically do the following:
Make sure you have created an application server and integration server connection in JDeveloper.
1) Create a new JDeveloper project of type ESB project.
2) Possibly add a ESB System/Group (open the esb file and click "Create System/Group") to group ESB projects.
3) Create an XML schema describing your input XML file. Probably one element of type xsd:string.
4) Create an example XML file which is well-formed and valid according to the XSD from step 3.
5) Create a new File adapter (inbound/read). A routing service is automatically created.
6) Create a new File adapter (outbound/write).
7) Create a routing rule in the routing service in which you invoke the write method of the outbound file adapter. Possibly add a transformation using the XSL mapper.
8) Deploy the ESB project to the server.
9) Drop your XML file (from step 4) in the directory in which the inbound file adapter is polling.
10) If it is ok, the file should be picked up, transformed and dropped in the outbound directory. A new ESB instance should be visible in the ESB console.
See what files are generated on the filesystem in each of the above steps.

SIMPLE Database Design Problem !
Mapping is a big problem for many complex applications.
So what happens if we put all the tables into one table called ENTITY?
I have more than 300 attributeTypes.And there will be lots of null values in the records of that single table as every entityType uses the same table.
Other than wasting space if I put a clustered index on my entityType coloumn in that table.What kind of performance penalties to I get?

check the coloumn with WHERE _entityType='PERSON'
as there is is clustered index on entityType...there
is NO performance decrease.
there is also a clustered index on RELATION table on
relationType
when we say WHERE _entityType ='PERSON' or
WHERE relationType='CONTACTMECHANISM'.
it scans the clustered index first.it acts like a
table as it is physically ordered.I was thinking in terms of using several conditions in the same select, such as

AND LastName LIKE 'A%' In your case you have to use at least two indices, and since your clustered index comes first ...

model in an object database.The knowledge information
is held in the object database.So your relational database is used only as a "simple" storage, everything has go through your object database.
But the data schema is held in the RDBMS with code

But in able to have a efficent mapping and a good
performance we have thought about building only one

PS2: RDBMS is a value based system where object
databases are identity based.we are trying to be in
the gray area of both worlds.Like I wrote: if your approach works and scales to the required size, why not? I would assume that you did a load test with your approach.
What I would question though is that your discussing a "SIMPLE Database Design" problem. I don't see anything simple in your approach when it comes to implementation.

How to replace huge decode statements with lookups to some simple code/key
I have a legacy PL/SQL application, composed of many very huge decode statements. And the most terribe one is that the guys who develops the application left the company now, leaves no documentation.
We are trying to read and understand those PL/SQL programs, and I'm asked to replace those huge decode statements with lookups to some simple code/key tables? But I have no idea about how to design such code/key tables. Is there any one who has similar experience may help me? Besides code/key tables, any idea will be welcome.

Are there some simple start up instructions for a first time user of Lion Server?
Our small office has been using MobileMe to share one central calendar on a mac mini with 4 users MBPro users. We were also using a 3rd party application (Address Book Server (ABS)) to share a central Address Book contact database with the same 4 users. It was all working fine. Then we upgraded all our systems to Lion and iCloud. Calendar sharing works fine, but it broke our contact sharing. ABS used the old sync capability. Now all our contacts are on iCloud, and they won't sync anymore.
Does anyone know if there is a way to share contacts among several users in iCloud? (I haven't found one.)
We are now considering Lion Server, but all we need it for is sharing contacts (shared calendars under iCloud works fine).
Can we install Lion Server for just contacts and continue to use iCloud for calendar sharing?
Is there some simple Start up documentation available for Lion Server that I can read before I jump into it?
How much time is it really going to take to install and manage a server system?
We are not IT professionals. Just a small office of professionals, who want the conveninece of shared calendars and shared contacts. We all have our own calendars and contacts as well, and we want to be able to see them on all our devices: MBPros, iPhones, iPads etc.
Thanks so much for your help.You can use Lion Server in place of the MobileMe/iCloud account. That would be your best bet. Lion Server has built into it an address book server and a calendar server which would take the place of what you are currently using.
Lion Server is designed to be quite easy to setup and run. It is pitched as being meant for people who "don't have an IT Department." Honestly, most of it is just on/off switches. If you have a Mac Mini and all of your users are on their MacBook Pros, you pretty much have the hardware necessary. Assuming all of your machines can run Lion, you should be good to go.
The most technical you might have to get is to get a domain name from some place like godaddy.com. The Server App actually walks ou through the whole setup process step-by-step. Not to mention that there is a vibrant community of users to be help out. And once it is up and running, there is very little you should have to do to it.
There are a lot of technical components to any server platform, and Apple is no exception, however they do a good job at hiding it. And at $49, you do not have much to lose. Plus, you only really need to use the components you want. If all you want in address book server and ical server, then just use those. You find you want to start sharing documents, turn on file sharing. It is up to you. Don't feel pressured to have to use every component.

so I have a basic understanding of java, I took a class on it this spring and did well. I am wanting to make a simple game, a single picture, a map, that is clicked.
based on the location clicked, the player gets an item. this is an online game.
I am going to use SQL for this game on the back end. it will have a db with two tables, users, and map.
users will have user name, user ID, items owned, tools, and searched today.
map Im not quite sure about yet.
so basically, Im trying to figure out how I should go about this. Im not quite ready to hack code yet, I need to get a good plan together and make sure I go about this correctly.
can I open this for discussion and get some help on designing this. Im trying to stay really very simple, so as not to undertake too much.
this is my outline right now:
login: a screen with name and pass fields, an ok button. when the button is clicked, the program checks the db for the name, and verifies the password, if everything is in order, goto the account screen, possibly a cookie or session of some sort is set.
account screen: show the username, items owned and number of each, any tools or special items owned. button to logout, button to goto map. radio buttons on the tools to determine which one, if any, is equipped. there should also be a special area near the top that shows what item was found on the previous day.
map screen: this is a small image of a map. the user clicks and shows a pin placed, as well as any other pins currently on the map for the day. a search button that when clicked, locks in the location untill the end of the day.
the user can search one location per 24 hour period, server time.once a location is picked, its locked in till server is rolled to new day. based on the location, and the tool selected, the player gains an item, these will be used for creating items and such in a later game that is tied to the IP.
pretty simple, login, pick a tool, pick a location, complain in the forum that you can't find good items, and that the main game isnt done, move on till tomorrow :)
I need to go over each part in detail and do this right. I should mostly be SQL with a graphic frontend, which as of now Im choosing Java for, so this can run in a web browser. Im also considering PHP, but I fear it wont be dynamic enough. Flash is my other choice. I would like to get a good idea of what I need to do for each aspect before I make it. The screens I will make in netBeans, probably using Swing, and all of my actual logic will be in click events.

I think it will make a nice little game, its not meant to take much time out of the players day, just a 2-5 minute jaunt into my website. login, pick a spot on the map, select a tool to use to help gather items, and slowly over several weeks, have accumulated a collection of goods for a game Im doing at a later date.
getting the x,y will be easy, I have done a couple of very simple apps that interact with SQL,
the only real logic parts of this are some ifs or a switch, and adding to a field in SQL.
getting pixel color might be tricky, it was easy in flash, and Im pretty sure I saw a similar function last time I browsed the javadocs, so Im not too concerned.I like to use getRGB and setRGB from a BufferedImage.
honestly, I looked around and I can all but make this in javascript and PHP/SQL, java might be overkill.
anyone see any obvious ways to cheat the game ?If you store any logic on the client side they can easliy find and modify it, that way they can have a super character or all of the items. Runescape is perfect example of this, they run client server and there are groups that have made their own client to cheat with.
am I underestimating the complexity of the task ? I have plenty of time to work on it, no hurry, but Im hoping to have something on the site within the next month or so.That is doable, If you are careful in your implementation, you can build a basic game engine and then work on map and support making for facilitate different levels.
I need to make a list of terrains, the colors Im using for them, and items found, and I need to draw out a table that Im using to plot out the sql.
Im taking PHP/SQL this fall, Im starting to get the hang of it, and I have a pretty good grasp of basic programming concepts. this should be well within reach, honestly, its glorified tic-tac-toe, or match-findingThe big things that seem to pop up for people are:

weilding an item
using an item
combat
breaking off combat
automatic path plotting (least cost algo from map)
frequency of random events
regeneration of items
regeneration of health
real language interaction with characters (pattern matching for content)
Just remember: choose what you want and don't let the scope of your game creap or you'll have a bunch of code that has no implementation end in sight. Keep your compiles short and changes departmentalize so you can have running code that works from one feature to another. I see a lot of people--experirenced too--that literally throw hundreds of lines of code out and then try to debug it after they make changes thorughout the stable code base to allow integration of the new feature; this can be very daunting, keep it as simple as possible to integrate new features--small steps are good.

If restoring using your backup didn't work, you'll have to save as much of your data as you can (import your photos to your computer, sync your contacts and other data with iCloud, email things like Notes and Voice Memos to yourself, sync with iTunes to transfer all your purchases, etc.) and then restore it as new without using your backup.

It looks like you're actually using a camera or phone to take a photo of your monitor.
That's not what is commonly known as a "screen shot".
It looks like you're on a Mac. Hitting Command+Shift+3 places a capture of the contents of your entire monitor on your Desktop; hitting Command+Shift+4 will give you a cross-hairs cursor for you to select just the portion you want to capture.
I'm mentioning this because I fear I'm not construing your original post correctly when you type "I am working with a large files [sic], currently it has 149 layers, all of which are high resolution photographs", so I'm wondering if there's some similar use of your own idiosyncratic nomenclature in your description of your troublesome file.
Perhaps I'm just having a major senior moment myself, but I'm utterly unable to imagine such a file. Would you mind elaborating? -

Thanks for that 'sberman' - because my iPhone is backed-up to my work computer (only at this stage) I have had to call our IT Department in Adleaide. (4 times this morning). The last guy managed to get the phone into 'DFU Mode' - no more recovery mode screen - (kind of 'asleep' perhaps) from my understanding of same. I am awaiting a call again from IT so they can get my computer to actually recognise my iPhone on the C Drive. This also happened to one of my colleagues in Newman (WA). She got so frustrated with the whole process that she bought another phone the next time she was in 'civilisation.' She hasn't had any problems since. (Cross fingers).

Have you tried animating the Clip property in the timeline? You'd probably want each clipping rectangle in its own symbol, and then control the symbol playback from the click event on the symbol instance.
If that won't work for your purposes, there's a slight error in your code.
Rather than:

Try:
