Somewhere in Spice Works it is pinging my domain

The alert tells me that domain name abcdef.com is not responding to HTTP or ping. I believe I know what the issue is but I cant find where the config/setting is for this in Spice Works? Any direction is appreciated. Thanks.

No. If it is offline then there is no way to find it on the web. The device must respond in order to be located.

  • Is it all gone or is there somewhere all that work can be recovered?

my wife spent all day yesterday placing text into a book and formatting, etc. When she finished for the night she clicked on - File - save - instead of the save book button. Is it all gone or is there somewhere all that work can be recovered?

Open InDesign and then use the recent files list to see if it’s there.

  • XP client ping the domain name get resolve ip 127.0.53.53

I got a strange issues recently. We have many windows XP client in our company. Most them are working out of office.
So they connect our VPN to access the company resource. But last week (around 8.25), all the XP clients lost connections with our domain after they connected VPN.  When I try ping the domain name, it got a resolved IP:127.0.53.53.
If I  nslookup our domain name, it will get a correct resolved ip. Now It impacts all XP users' work. They can't use the outlook,
connect to the file share server.(windows 7 is ok, just XP get issues.)
Now my solution is:  add our intrance dns(find it on the VPN network) to the local adapter.

  • Informatica installation problem - pinging the domain

    Hi,
I am trying to install informatica and seem to be hitting a common installation problem.
I get to the 'Domain Configuration' point and the installation halts @ the 'Pinging the domain'.
After a few attempts, it comes back with the error 'Host:Port [MC:6001} has failed to ping back.
As an aside the service is created, starts OK and then fails.
All the Oracle side of things is fine and the objects have been created in my informatica schema.
I have seen a few posts with the same issue, but no one has a definitive answer.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Try to use the IP address instead of host name. I got it resolved wen i did this.

  • E3200 - do not upgrade firmware - storage no longer works and router ping goes to 1000 ms

I upgraded my firmware because I was having a lot of stability problems with the router.
Unfortunately it got worse with the firmware upgrade.  There were two symptoms:
    1. the router no longer recognizes the usb attached hard drive / storage
    2. the throughput on the router and ping statistics are terrible unless you unplug the usb attached device (which it can't recognize any more anyway).
If I were able to roll back the firmware I definitely would.
I have had around 5 routers over the past 10 years and this is definitely the worst.  Constantly needs restarting, and doesn't work as advertised.

First of all, you mentioned in your post that you have already upgraded the firmware. So after firmware upgrade did you reset the gateway? It is recommended to reset the gateway once. Steps to reset the router:
Push the reset button on router for 30 seconds, turn off the router wait for 30 seconds and then power it on. Power light should blink when you perform the reset process.
After reset, reconfigure the router and then check the connectivity status of the storage..

  • Internet works except for ping

I have a strange problem that has left me completely baffled: my Internet connection mostly works (browser, email), but I cannot ping anywhere; when I try to ping, it simply times out:
    # ping -c 3 google.com
    PING google.com (83.94.121.177) 56(84) bytes of data.
    --- google.com ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 2008ms
My computer is behind a home router, but my laptop (with a very similar arch installation) can ping fine behind the same router. I can't even ping the router itself, while the laptop can. It doesn't seem to be related to a firewall installation; the iptables rules are empty. I can't ping as root nor as a normal user. DNS lookup also works fine, pinging with an explicit IP address doesn't help. Everything else works fine except one thing that might be related: I also cannot ssh into my VPS (the connection also times out, and again the VPS is fine since the laptop can connect), although I can ssh into other servers I have access to.
I'm completely out of ideas, can anyone think of something?

Can you ping localhost?  Can you ping the router?

The problem has been resolved. It was the line provider that made a mistake bij giving the wrong line speed at the second pvc.
After they made the correct changes the connection was made between the 2 routers over the IPVPN
    Router config Check
    Router firmware Check
    First pvc Check
    Second pvc but now check
    Ipvpn and data flow check
    Connection has ben made check

  • It would be useful to explain somewhere how synch works.

I don't understand if I have to synch from both computers to get my Tabs from Other Computers to work, or if just one. If I'm at desktop and synch, does it work if the laptop computer isn't turned on (ie, does it send my data to the cloud to wait for a request from the laptop)?
All the searches on Inet and on Firefox tell one over and over how to set up a Synch account. No one tells you how to use it.

Thanks, Silkphoenix. I'd read all the Firefox Help files I could find before posting the question.
I clear the cache and synch and I still get old Tabs From Other Computers.
It's possible that restarting Firefox would help.
But so far no one has addressed my real questions:
    1. I don't understand if I have to synch from both computers to get my Tabs from Other Computers to work, or if just one.
    2. If I'm at desktop and synch, does it work if the laptop computer isn't turned on (ie, does it send my data to the cloud to wait for a request from the laptop)?

  • Work folders - certificates with .local domain

    Hello,
We'd like to deploy Work folders in our domain.local environment.
Technet states that the certificate name should be the public URL workfolders.domainname and that for every file server a SAN needs to be listed. I was wondering how we need to implement Work folders as you can't add local server names anymore to public certificates.
For us, the public URL would be workfolders.company.eu and the server name is fileserver.company.local. Anyone already built a setup like this?

    Hi Bram
    Here is what i did.
in the situation, you have mydomain.local as your domain, but mydomain.com as your normal pubic domain.
I added workfolders.mydomain.com to my public DNS as an A record and point to the IP of that record to  the gateway of my internet on my local server.
In my case, my local server would have been server.mydomain.local. I created a new zone in my AD DNS server called workfolders.mydomain.com. in there i create a blank A record with the ip of my local server.
in my router i portfoward port 443 to my ip of server.mydomain.local.
In IIS managament of the local server create a certificate request for workfolders.mydomain.com
obatian an SSL certificate for workfolders.mydomain.com from a place like godaddy.com and install in IIS and bind to port 443. You should only have the IIS core web services installed and NOT the full IIS.
when you setup workfolders on the clients, choose to enter an address and type https://workfolders.mydomain.com.
When you are local and you ping workfolders.mydomain.com it should point to the local server because of the A record you created local.
When you are out of the office, the public domain will then route to your server via your router and find the server.
This has worked for me and all syncs fine both local and over the internet

  • Reimaged Win 7 PC still cannot ping either domain controller by IP Address, but sees other PCs fine.

OK so this is weird one: I have a Window 7 box that when I went to use it, I discovered that it no longer had access to the internet, but it did see the other PCs on the network. After trying completely different network ports then removing/reading the NIC
and using system restore, I decided to reimage it from scratch and deleted the PC's name from the domain. Here's where it gets strange: Even after a completely wiped and reloaded PC from a known good template, it DOES get an IP address from DHCP/DC/DNS server
(same machine) it can view the other workstations on the domain, but it cannot even get a ping reply back from either of our 2 domain controllers, much less join the domain and it still does not see the internet. This one really has me kerfuffled! It is the
only PC with this problem and I've already scorched the HD.

    Hi,
According to your description, the Windows 7 PC has joined the domain before going wrong. And after a series of operations the Windows 7 still can’t access Internet and it can’t ping DC by IP address.
Have you checked the Windows Firewall to see if the firewall blocked the ICMP packet?
Due to the Windows PC can get an IP address from DHCP server as mentioned above, so what IP address the Windows 7 PC get? And what is the IP address of the Windows 7’s DNS server? We can use
ipconfig /all command to print out the TCP/IP configuration. Because we can’t ping DC by IP address, maybe the Windows 7 PC can’t connect to DHCP server. If a DHCP client can’t connect the DHCP server, it can assign a private IP address of
169.254.0.0/16 network to itself. Then the DHCP client will attempt to find an available DHCP server every five minutes. Obviously, computer with a private IP address can’t access Internet.
    Best Regards,
    Tina

  • Lync 2013 /w Edge not working properly (internal/external same domain name and all "external" users"

    Hi,
I've got some issues with a Lync 2013 setup.
The config consists of 2 lync servers. One FE and one Edge. All seems to work except audio in meetings and Sip.
The setup is like this (fake ip's used):
    Front End:
    Internal IP: 172.16.0.10
    External IP: x.x.185.10
All ports open in Cisco ASA
internal AD DNS: dialin/lync/meet/lyncdiscover to Front end internal ip. edge/lsedge/sip points to edge internal ip
    EDGE:
Interal IP: 172.16.0.11 (no gateway configured)
    External IPS: x.x.185.11, x.x.185.12, x.x.185.13
All external IP's are direct internet facing, no NAT (a firewall is in place).
All external interfaces are using a wildcard certificate.
All server are running in a remote data center, so basically no internal users. We all connect to the external interfaces. The Windows domain name (AD) is the same as our External DNS (companyname.com).
Autodiscover works, we can logon, chat but there is no audio. The audio test failes. Also SIP is not working with a sip trunk.
External DNS: sip/webconf/av are pointing to their external ip's. sipexternal is a cname to sip. lyncdiscover/lync/dialin/meet all point to the Frond end External ip.
_sip._tls/_sipfederationtls.tcp/_xmpp-server.tcp all point to the sip.companyname.com ip.
I just can't figure out what is wrong.

@PSingh123 I'll try the logs in a minute and get back with the results.
@PaulB_NZ Thanks for the input. In my opinion the FE does need an external IP. How else will you be able to connect if you are a remote worker?
The Edge is (asfar as i know) needed for Enterprise voice and Federation with other (external) sip domains. It's not needed for basic (chat/video/whiteboard etc) Lync functionality for both internal and external (remote) users.
The Edge is to communicate with services/users outside the origanisation.
I do still think that the basic topology (FE with internal IP and Nat'ed external ip working with an Edge with internal IP and 1 external IP nat'ed to 3 DMZ ip's) is correct in this case.
I can be wrong and in that case would like to be pointed to the correct configuration.

  • Windows 7 deployment- Local Admin password not working, no way to assign domain admins

I have SCCM 2012 configured for OS deployment of a Windows 7 64x enterprise image. I am using boot media (cd) since PXE boot was not an option in this office. Deployment seems to work fine except that despite selecting "Enable the account and specify
the local administrator password" I cannot login to the imaged system as Administrator. I tried several different passwords, and leaving the password field blank. Because of this I cannot add the domain admins as local admins and thus I cannot change
any major settings on the PC. I have created multiple task sequences, redeployed the source files, tried two different machines (a desktop and a laptop) and have disabled or adjusted just about every part of the task sequence at least once.
I'm pasting a recent SMSTS.log file, though it has an error 0x80070002 error in it I am not sure if this is related.
Any suggestions on how to remedy this issue, or workarounds to assign local admins would be helpful. I have already tried adding in some command lines like "cmd /c net localgroup administrators /add "etoo\Administrators" and "cmd /c net
localgroup administrators /add "localhost\username"" to various points in the sequence without any success.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/g3s520bwo8pv4kp/smsts.log
    Thanks

I suspect that your keyboard layout isn't configured correctly so that's why your "Enable the account and specify the local administrator password" doesn't work, check the keyboard layout on the login screen of the client you're trying to log in to...
There are several ways of adding local admins to the client during  OS deployment:
