Hai gurus,
i have one scenario,( REM Method)
1) Company 'A' is the marketing one which collects all the requirements from various parts of the country
and make a consolidate requirements of all the final products like( P1,P2,P3 and P4) for the entire year.
2) Company 'B' is the manufacturer of final products like P1,P2,P3 and P4 ,based on the input given by the
executives of Company 'A' during the meeting(under non SAP situation now)with executives of company
'B'.so the qty input is only data given manually by the executives from company 'A' to company 'B'.
3) Both the company A and B comes under same management.
4) Company 'B' produce the final products like P1,P2,P3 and P4 and sell it to Company 'A'.(100% invoicing
of all the material produced from Company B to A under non sap situation)
How to map the same in SAP, as the requirement from Company 'A' pass to Company 'B' and the same is
produced and sold back without any problem for accounting and qty disputes.

between one company to another, but my current question is how the input of the company'A' is
transformed to company'B' for production.

Material Forecast VS SOP Forecast
Hi,
Could anyone please explan to me what is the difference between the mtl forecast and the SOP forecast ? I have read the documentation a few times and still have not bee able to figure out what the difference is. Do we need to use both at the same time ? Do the forecasted values in the material master equate to the forecasted values you see in the SOP planning table ? Are these two interchangable ? I would really appreciate it if someone could explain this to me.

It depends on the parameters used. First let you be clear that do you want to do it through SOP or Matrial master, then go ahead with that. It may be same or diffeent depends on the parameters used.
If you do it in forecast in material master usually we use it for ra material where we use consumption based planning with VV.
If you do sales forecast it is used for product and we are doing with a planning stg where we control the consumption.
In SOP, we can control what to consider as consumotion or whether to take last year slaes...
In material master it is just a consumption.

Small question of SOP Forecast
I know that Material Master forecast could maintain the forecast model for each material. But the SOP, as another way of forecasting, is usually used as mass processing. I wonder that whether SOP could also select and maintain forecast models in material level as MRP? or it can only do it on the level of sales Org. ?

Normally, in S&OP, we do Forecast Run in mass by scheduling a batch job/ Planning Job...
Like one can define a planning job using tcode-MC8D (For a specific Sales Info Structure) for a particular Sales Org/Plant/list of materials and in that case, also assign a "Planning activity".
This Planning Activity decides in mass processing which Forecast Model to be used to calculate forecast. So depending upon your business requirement, you can define number of Activities (Planning Activities) with various Forecast Models and define Planning Jobs.
Off-course, it's really not possible to define Activities & Planning Jobs for each material to select respective forecast model... but you can segregate a list of materials (having some sort of similar structure) and define a Activity & assign it in Planning Job.
You can define Activity in: SPRO --> PP --> S&OP --> Functions --> Mass Processing --> Define Activities.

How to Forecast and run MRP for consumed materials
Hi Experts,
I need help urgently on below business requirement.
Objective: Forecast consumable materials (like Gas , Chemical) to produce Finish product
Scenario:
1. We have Plant WF01 - to produce finish products, Sales related activities, SOP for sales forecast, and production planning
Production BOM Like below
Finish part (material used to make production, Sales, Shipment)
RAW (Component used to make Finish Product)
2. We have other plats with in same company for GS01 - for GAS related materials, CH01 - For Chemical Related material
- Material under GS01, CH01 does not have BOM
- Gas and chemical material used during production process to make finish product
Question:
- How Can I forecast(to procure from external), how much GAS/Chemical required to meet future demand from SOP
- How can I link SOP to forecast GAS and Chemicals because we don't want to base on historic usage

But SAP has standard forecasting models(based on historic/trend/Seasonal etc.).
Can we define our own forecasting model to generate fore cast values.
Ex:
Based on history
Com1 - requires 100PC in Mar and 150 in Apr
But what we require is , We need to base on usage rate(to make finish product) and SOP forecast to determine raw material forecast.
i.e
SOP: FinishGoods 1000pc in Mar and 2000PC in Apr
based on SOP, I need raw material comp1 500PC in Mar and 1000PC in Apr
formula: Lets say Usage rate for Raw Comp1 is 0.5PC to produce 1PC of finish goods
Forecast: 0.5PC * 1000PC = 500PC
0.5PC * 2000PC = 1000PC
Usage rate * Demand = Raw material forecast value
usage rate and demand are dynamic and can change.
Is there any way in SAP to determine forecast of components based on formula.

Mass processing for forecating in SOP
Hi all
I ma able to forecast a material online thru MC87 in standard SOP, but when I try to set up a variant for mass processing in the background the forecasting does not work. Has anybody encountered this issue?

Thanks for your reply. I am reading the R/3 documentation and it talks about Mass processing of SOP forecasting ( R/3 documentation verbiage below) I am trying to follow these steps but it does not work. Isn't this mass processing supposed to be for forecasting in mass in background?

How to Run the Forecast with Mass Processing
You can use SOPs mass processing function to run the forecast. In this process:
You create a forecast profile.
You create a planning activity and include in it this action (the forecast profile).
You create a mass processing job for this activity.
You schedule this mass processing job.
The results of the forecast will be different if the forecast is run at a high level and the results then disaggregated to the detailed level than if you carry out the forecast at the detailed level. -

I would like to budget Sales for next year, budgeted costs...
Can I use SOP w/o tropuble without going into any sophistication?
How do that (as compared to the existing doc. on SOP which deals with Capacity ...)

If you have SOP data then you can use that data to Run LTP (long term planning) which is nothing but a simulative MRP run.
LTP analysis can then give you a view of expected costs (budget) of purchasing to meet the SOP forecast (demand) etc..
I remember a project where we took data from COPA module & ran LTP for analysis.
I am sure this sets you in the right direction.

In SOP- transfer forecasted values from material master to info structure?

I wanted to test out a few scenarios. Do you know the answers / can you help simulate and check the below?
1. If I run the forecast using different models for different materials using the total forecast run (MP38), the forecast values will get updated in the material master. Can I get these values transferred directly into the SOP (standard or flexible), without re-running the forecast in SOP? What I am looking at is a possible scenario where individual materials have different forecast model, so do not want to run forecast from SOP using one model for all.
2. Can you have the capability of selecting diff model (say based on material master data) in SOP for diff materials? When I ran SOP, the model I specify there for forecasting is applied for all materials
3. If I upload historical values/forecasted values in the material master, can I directly transfer them to SOP without any change to the value?

Is it possible to enter a sale forecast is SOP or Flexible SOP in $ value of forecast sales, instead of at Quantity in "PCS". For example, we want to forecast for 6 months the sales of a product family. Is it possible in SOP or it must be done with CO/PA?

Planning type is linked to a planning table.
Forecast comesup from history, CO/PA is used only for the cost benefit analysis.

I am working with forecast of SOP at background, for that activity I have created variant.
Here we are getting an error
Product group/material is not allowed as an aggregation level
For a Product group, if I have used other product group then its work. I have need requirement for that product group.

In your case you must be having as below:
First level: Product group -- A
Second level: Production group -- B
Third level: Material
You must be trying directly for PG A, which is first level PG>
But, SAP does not allow the top level PG to be disaggregated. Disaggregation is only allowed if the members of a PG are materials, and not some other product group.
In such a case, you first need to disaggregate from first level PG to second level PG -- from A to B and then carry out further activities for PG b, which is the lowest level PG.
I hope this is helpful.

Hi Experts,
I have one requirement, I have to run Mass Processing for Forecast SOP in background Job based on consumption values updated in Material Master.
I have followed all instruction give for doing this process (SAP SOP Mass Processing - SAPs'WORD - We SAP For Your Cause) but could not achieve.
Can any one help to run in background job for Mass Processing for Forecast SOP.

Check your planning type which is used for your batch job. The number of historical periods in planning type (transaction MC8B) must not be smaller than the number of historical periods in forecast profile (transaction MC96). If the number of forecast period is maintained in the forecast profile (transaction MC96) the number of future period in the planning type must not be smaller than the number of forecast period in the forecast profile.
A not appropriate entry in SOP User Settings (transaction MC79) in Number of periods in the planning horizon can have an effect on this also.

Already i check up with MP30/ mp32 (Except MD70 and MD73). But in this case input will be material / Product group
I want to check what is the output on that particular forecasting date (we are using product groups) The input i have is the particular date on which forecasting was done.

Maintain the forecast view of the materials & the relevent settings... Then execute material forecast from transaction MP38. Take a MRP run..the forecast requirement will be reflected as unplanned requirement & planned orders will be created accordingly.
