Splitting a single video into multiple sub-videos

I have CS4 Master Suite on MAC.
I want to take a single video and split it into consecutive chunks and store each chunk as a separate video file (Eventually to put in a database to allow web uses to select which chunk(s) they want to view.
I can do this "by hand" in Premiere but I want to eventually do this in a semi-automated way. (Visually decided where to place the splits, but automate the splitting, naming conventions etc.
Suggestions?
Is there a scripting language interface that could help me do some of this?
Thanks

I did not make clear, that of course I don't one to do this with ONE video, but with hundreds of hours of video in typically 20-30 second chunks. So perhaps there are good alternate suggestions to do what I want to do?
I want eventually to give the enduser the possibility to run a database query to select one or more of the final chunks/chapters for viewing

  • Splitting the single record into multiple records based on validity

    Hi Guru's,
basically i am an BI consultant with less knowledge on ABAP, can i request your help on the ABAP task.
I am working on HR module which is integrated with SAP BI,  the reports will be executed based on calendar month the requirement is i should split the single record into a multiple records based on validity of the record.  basically the HR data would be in data from and date to.
    below is the logic
Check whether the start and end date of the record are in the same month and year.
    If yes  nothing changes
If no  create multiple records
1st record  original start date of the record u2018till end of that month
Following record  1st of the next month  u2018till last day of the month
    u2026
Last record  1st of the month u2018till original end date.
All fields will have the same values, only the datefrom and dateto fields change.
Can any one please provide me the same code to proceed on my task.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Venkat

  • Split a single avi into multiple avi files?

Hi there, totally new to PS Elements Premier 10.
I have some VHS video tapes that I converted to AVI format.  I'd like to separate the videos into segments (ie; separate Christmas 1982 from Easter 1983) - and store them in multiple AVI files.  I tried to do this in MS movie maker, but that was taking forever.  I bought Premier Elements because I figured it should be easier; and it probably is, but I'm noob...
I have split the video into the scenes I want.  I have added markers... but I am having trouble splitting the actual video into chunks of clips - ie; one big avi file would become 10 smaller avi files.  I am trying to watch these on a boxee box, so I do want the to be separate files - I dont want to do a "web dvd" output.
    I have tried this:
    I dont see export functions.
I go to "SHARE" but it only lets me export to a single output.
How can I do this?  It's for Christmas presents, so it's a little urgent - any help you can give me would be soooooo appreciated.
    thanks!

Thanks everyone.  I ended up figuring it out - whether or not I did it the best / easiest / fastest way is up for debate
I split the video into clips.
Separated the clips into different timelines.
"left aligned" all the clips in their respective timelines so they all start at 0:00 (just for simplification)
Disable all clips / timelines (right click, enable = false)
Enable the individual clip/timeline that I want to save
Set up the work area bar so that it starts at 0:00 and ends at the end of the specific clip I enabled.  With the "snap top" functionality turned on, this is pretty easy.
Go to "SHARE" and configure my outputs
Make sure that "Share Work Area Bar Only" is checked on the "Share" tab before committing
It creates an avi of only the enabled clip, for the timeline I created.
    Important:
Make sure you set the work area bar properly, or you'll have a 10 minute clip followed by 2 hours of blackness.... did that a few times ha.
Make sure you click the "Share Work Area Bar Only" on the share tab - or the same will happen.
Thanks for the replies everyone - let me know if there is a better way to acheive this in PE10.
    Thanks!

  • Splitting the single record into multiple:One-to-Many;S'ingLikeRESULT_TABLE

    Hello Friends,
I am an ABAPer and new to BW. we have a requirement as follows.
BW is getting data from R/3 system. all the purchasing, sales data and billin data.
at the BW end for each Material document we get multiple ITEMS. ( items will be retrieved at BW end)
the question is how to get the multiple entries in the result.
Each material will have one or more items. so we want to write a separate record for each item. Can we do it using RESULT_TABLE?
I have no idea how the data process at BW end.
I have been trying to find the info in SDN but could get what exactly they are saying. bit confused with key figures and so.
Can anyone of you give some  idea on how to get this done please ?
Thanks a lot for your help..

  • Splitting single video into multiple files - workflow improvements?

I regularly need to split a single video into multiple separate files that are used by other programs.  I'm using Premiere Pro CS4 for a number of reasons including the ability to easily and accurately select a scene by individual frames, native audio and video effects/filters, and the ability to import and export various video types.  I'm open to using other tools, but I haven't yet found one that is even close to Premiere Pro when it comes to accurately selecting split points.
I'm not a Premiere Pro expert.  I have been doing this for about four months and have read many resources (books, forum posts, help guides) to refine the workflow I'm currently using.  My question:  does anyone know any improvements that might save me time/keystrokes.
    Current workflow:
    I've bound F8 to File > Export > Media
    Import video file
    Open in source monitor
Set In and Out points for scene in source monitor
Ctrl-drag from source monitor to Project Panel (creates a subclip)
    Repeat 3 and 4 for all scenes/subclips
Select all subclips from Project Panel and drag to timeline
Set work area bar to first subclip in timeline by the following four keystrokes:  Home, Alt-[, PageDown, Alt-]
Type F8 (File > Export > Media shortcut).  Type output file name, click OK and the first subclip is put in the AME queue
For the remaining subclips, type: Alt-[, PageDown, Alt-], F8, output file name, OK and repeat until done
    Any thoughts/ideas on workflow improvements?
    Thank you!

    Thank you Hunt.
For the sake of brevity, I didn't include all of the details about the various aspects of the projects.
Early on I was doing what you suggested and yes, it is a little quicker.  I learned (painfully) a couple of months later that I sometimes have to go back and adjust the clips and this method (trim to timeline with no subclips) resulted in quite a bit of duplicate effort (to reobtain start/stop points).  I've since learned that managing the "scenes" as subclips in topical bins allows me to go back and make adjustments, long after I've totally forgotten about the project content, without a lot of unnecessary reworking.

  • Split Single IDOC into Multiple IDOC's Based on Segment Type

    Hi Experts,
I have a scenario IDOC to FILE ,  Split Single IDOC into Multiple IDOC's based on Segment Type
    Outbound:
    ZIdocName
    Control Record
    Data Record
    Segment 1
    Segment 2
    Segment 3
    Status Record
I should get output like below
    Inbound:
    ZIdocName
    Control Record
    Data Record
    Segment 1
    Status Record
    ZIdocName
    Control Record
    Data Record
    Segment 2
    Status Record
    ZIdocName
    Control Record
    Data Record
    Segment 3
    Status Record
Please suggest me step by step process to achieve this task.
    Thanks.

Thanks a lot Harish for reply.
I have small doubt. According to your reply , If we have N number of segments in single IDOC with same fields in all segments then for splitting Single IDOC into Multiple IDOC's based on Segment Type we need to duplicate N number of target IDOC tree structure.
Is that possible to Split single IDOC into Multiple IDOC's based on Segment Type using only one Target IDOC structure without duplicating the Target IDOC structure tree.

  • I can't split a home DVD into multiple events. Why?

I have a DVD of old super 8 movies that I converted into a DVD years ago and want to extract selected segments as short movie clips. I have been able to load the entire DVD as a single event but I wanted to break this single event into multiple events based on various themes. My problem is that I don't seem to be able to split the content at all. The "Split event before selected Clip" always appears to be grayed out. What am I doing wrong?
    paulfromcrystal

I just figured it out.  Somehow I didn't change it to the correct code of 1.  So on the second shot of 5 allowed I realized I didn't change and save.  Now the dvd played.

  • Split TempDB Data file into multiple files

    Hey ,
I have been seeing TempDB contention in memory on our SQL server 2012 Enterprise Edition with SP2 and I need to split TempDB Data file into multiple files .
Could someone please help me to verify the following information:
    1]
We are on SQL server 2012 Enterprise Edition with service pack2 but as per SQL Server 2012 Enterprise Edition under CAL Licensing –We are limited to use 20 logical processors instead 40 logical processors. Our SQL is configured
on NUMA nodes and with the limitation SQL uses only 2 NUMA nodes on live .There are 10 logical CPUs are evenly assigned to each NUMA nodes. Microsoft recommends that if SQL server configured on NUMA node and we have 2 NUMA nodes, then we may add two data files
at a time. Please let me know should I add two TempDB data file at a time?
2] We have TempDB Data and log files both on the same Drive of SQL server  .When I split TempDB into two Data files, I can get them on the same Drive .What your recommendation should I need to create TempDB Data files on the same drive or on separate
    disks?
3] What would be the blackout plan for splitting the tempdb into multiple files? Please let me know if someone has a better back out plan ?
1] Run script that create tempdb Database with a single file
2] Reboot SQL service in order to apply change

  • How can I split an Orders05 iDoc into multiple iDocs?

    Hello,
Can one of you experts please tell me how I can split an ORDERS05 iDoc into multiple iDocs based upon Delivery addresses?
For example, if the iDoc contains 3 different Delivery Addresses then I need to split it into 3 iDocs.
It has been suggested to me that I can Create a custom function module. In this custom fm split the idoc into 3 based on the delivery address and create it using the FM MASTER_IDOC_DISTRIBUTE.
Problem is I don't know how to do this.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
    Dan

    Hi Dan Avis
    Write a Custom  Z program .
    1 get order05 idoc number....
2 get the segment details...(Based on you condition...)
3 In a loop  send the data to the FM MASTER_IDOC_DISTRIBUTE  (Based on you condition...)
4 IDOC will generated,,,every loop and
5 Change the status of original idoc .
    or
Create Function module and use the FM as process code to create 3 idocs...and processs...new generated idoc and block original idocs...

  • How to make a 2d video into a 3d video (the 3d you view with 3d glasses!)

hey, i know this isn't so much of a specific question on Final Cut Pro, but i figured if there was anywhere to ask people this question, it would be on here...
i've tried googleing this and looking it up on yahoo and i cant find anything on it anywhere. i was wondering if anyone knows a way to make an already 2d video into a 3d video.
i know i could make it in 3d if i use two cameras only seperated about 3 inches, but i wanted to know if there was a way to take an already 2d video and make it into a 3d video.
let me know if anyone knows a way to do this or if you have a link to a site to explain how to do this, thanks!!

This will do it for you:

  • Seperate video into multiple clips

So, I have a bunch of interviews that I imported in one large batch from my video camera. However, I want to seperate each interview into its own clip. How do I go about cutting the video into seperate clips?

FCP does not automatically break long captures into individual clip files. With DV media, it will do a thing called 'sub clipping'. These are pointers to a section of the larger clip that allow you to treat each element like an individual clip. This works ok except when you want to: a) work with variable speed time remaps and b) delete unused clips to archive the project.
If you want individual clip files you have two reasonable options.
    1. Log each clip then do a batch capture to bring in individual files
    2. Use a 3rd party application (eg CatDV) to break up the clips into individual editable files. This can happen at capture or at a later time.
    Have fun.

  • Split single row into multiple rows containing time periods

    Hi,
I have a table with rows like this:
    id, intime, outtime
    1, 2010-01-01 00:10, 2010-01-3 20:00
I would like to split this row into multiple rows, 1 for each 24hr period in the record.
i.e. The above should translate into:
    id, starttime, endtime, period
    1, 2010-01-01 00:10, 2010-01-02 00:10, 1
    1, 2010-01-02 00:10, 2010-01-03 00:10, 2
    1, 2010-01-03 00:10, 2010-01-03 20:00, 3
The first starttime should be the intime and the last endtime should be the outtime.
Is there a way to do this without hard-coding the 24hr periods?
    Thanks,
    Dan Scott
    http://danieljamesscott.org

Thanks for all the feedback, Dan.
It appears that the respective solutions provided will give you: a) different resultsets and b) different performance.
Regarding your 'truly desired resultset' you haven't answered all questions from my previous post (there are differences in the provided examples), but anyway:
I found that using CEIL or ROUND makes quite a difference, using my 'simple 3 record testset' (30 records vs. 66 records got initially returned, that's less than half of the original). That's quite a difference. However, I must call it a day (since it's almost midnight) for now, so there's room for more optimizement and I haven't thoroughly tested.
But this might hopefully make a difference performancewise when compared to my previous 'dreaded example':
    SQL> drop table t;
    Table dropped.
    SQL> create table  t as
      2  select 1 id, to_date('2010-01-01 00:10', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') intime, to_date('2010-01-03 20:00', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') outtime from dual union all
      3  select 2 id, to_date('2010-02-01 00:10', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') intime, to_date('2010-02-05 20:00', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') outtime from dual union all
      4  select 3 id, to_date('2010-03-01 00:10', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') intime, to_date('2010-03-03 00:10', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi') outtime from dual;

For this, you have to go for multimapping.
The links for it are already provided in the above posts.

  • Split a large table into multiple packages - R3load/MIGMON

    Hello,
We are in the process of reducing the export and import downtime for the UNICODE migration/Conversion.
In this process, we have identified couple of large tables which were taking long time to export and import by a single R3load process.
Step 1:> We ran the System Copy --> Export Preparation
Step 2:> System Copy --> Table Splitting Preparation
We have created a file with the large tables which are required to split into multiple packages and where able to create a total of 3 WHR files for the following table under DATA directory of main EXPORT directory.
SplitTables.txt (Name of the file used in the SAPINST)
    CATF%2
    E071%2
Which means, we would like each of the above large tables to be exported using 2 R3load processes.
Step 3:> System Copy --> Database and Central Instance Export
During the SAPInst process at Split STR files screen , we have selected the option 'Split Predefined Tables' and select the file which has predefined tables.
    Filename: SplitTable.txt
    CATF
    E071
When we started the export process, we haven't seen the above tables been processed by mutiple R3load processes.
They were exported by a Single R3load processes.
In the order_by.txt file, we have found the following entries...
    order_by.txt----
    # generated by SAPinst at: Sat Feb 24 08:33:39 GMT-0700 (Mountain
    Standard Time) 2007
    default package order: by name
    CATF
    D010TAB
    DD03L
    DOKCLU
    E071
    GLOSSARY
    REPOSRC
    SAP0000
    SAPAPPL0_1
    SAPAPPL0_2
We have selected a total of 20 parallel jobs.
    Here my questions are:
a> what are we doing wrong here?
b> Is there a different way to specify/define a large table into multiple packages, so that they get exported by multiple R3load processes?
    I really appreciate your response.
    Thank you,
    Nikee

    Hi Haleem,
As for your queries are concerned -
    1. With R3ta , you will split large tables using WHERE clause. WHR files get generated. If you have mentioned CDCLS%2 in the input file for table splitting, then it generates 2~3 WHR files CDCLS-1, CDCLS-2 & CDCLS-3 (depending upon WHERE conditions)
    2. While using MIGMON ( for sequencial / parallel export-import process), you have the choice of Package Order in th e properties file.
      E.g : For Import - In the import_monitor_cmd.properties, specify
Package order: name | size | file with package names
        orderBy=/upgexp/SOURCE/pkg_imp_order.txt
And in the pkg_imp_txt, I have specified the import package order as
      BSIS-7
      CDCLS-3
      SAPAPPL1_184
      SAPAPPL1_72
      CDCLS-2
      SAPAPPL2_2
      CDCLS-1
Similarly , you can specify the Export package order as well in the export properties file ...
I hope this clarifies your doubt

  • How do I embed a small video into a larger video screen?

Adobe Premier Elements 10 for a MacBook Pro Mountain Lion OS 10.8.5
For my ski club, I'm making a short single 3 min video with footage from 3 different camera's.  The video frames from one camera are 320 px by 280 px and the frames from the other two cameras are 640 px by 480 px and when shown full screen on a monitor, the footage from the two 640 px by 480 px cameras look OK (if not great) but the footage from the 320 px by 280 px is obviously grainy.  I would like to embed the smaller into the larger at 50% so that the picture will be sharper, even though just filling up half the screen.  Help please.  This is for the upcoming ski show and I need it by Sunday, Oct 20.   Thanks.  DRThiess

    DRthiess
With your Premiere Elements 10 Mac,
    a. have you set your project preset for NTSC DV Standard
    b. have you imported your 640 x 480 video into this NTSC DV Standard project via Get Media/Files and Folders and now have it on Video track 1.
    c. have you then imported your 320 x 280 into this same project and placed it on Video track 2 above the Video track 1 content
    d. have you then scaled the selected 320 x 280 on Video Track 2 using either
....Properties Palette/Motion Panel expanded and its Scale slider (check mark next to Constrain Proportions)
    or
....Click on Monitor to bring up the bound box of the image and then clicking and dragging on one of the handles of the bounding box to scale the image
There are also some PiPs (Picture in Picture Effects) under Edit Header/Presets that you might want to explore. They are for 25% and 40%, but are adjustable.
Please let us know if any of the above worked for you or if you need supplemental information.
    Thank you.
