    Hello Sunil,
The problem is that I have hundreds of users to maintain user groups.
found out that it is possible to assign user group to role and role to user groups. implementing hr authorization with in-direct assignment of auth. So if I could use sq10, user groups could also be link to position in the org chart.
sq10 does allow you to assign a user group to a role but when you assign the role to a user and the user runs a query, it reports that no user group has been assigned.
Suspect that there must be a parameter or switch that is not turned on

  • Looking for LA area user group

Are there any user groups in the LA area, google was no help & what I did find were flakey groups that did not answer emails. I am looking for serious user groups in the LA area.
    Thanks :)

well, i was disappointed in the first one, as I received no response. The second lists the same groups, but I may contact the Orange County group. Thanks

  • How are user groups defined in Mac OS 10.x

Thus far, my guess is that Mac OS determines which users are members of particular pre-defined groups.
For example, if I want to give other users in my home network read and write permissions to a particular folder, I might add the pre-defined group 'netuser' to group in the get info window and give the group right and write permissions.
    I am correct in this?
I used to administer a Windows NT server and workstations and could give permissions to domain users, as opposed to local users on the various machines.
I imagine it might be pretty much the same if I had Macintosh server software installed or whatever.
My chief concern is understanding permissions in relation to Qmaster distributed processing with a home network.
Advice and clarifications are most welcome.

Thanks for the link to the ars tecnica site article on permissions and acl's.
Actually, I am quite happy with Unix group limitations. I am just still trying to understand how to create a group, and users to the group, and to control how new folders and files are given permissions inside their parent folders.
Can you recommend an article that explains how to create new groups, and associate users with groups?
I now have a case where I am trying to figure out how to use QMaster for distributed processing. I was observing problems writing to the second computer, a service node. Even when the first machine, client and cluster controller, was not listed in the upper pane of QAdmin as belonging to the cluster, cluster storage would default to the first machine. So, I made the second machine a cluster controller and service node as well, and sent a job from my first computer, the client, to a cluster that only had the second computer. This worked. Only problem, is that the new folders and file written in the cluster storage assigned to a folder on the second computer have ownership and group changed to the user which is my log in (admin) on the first computer. That in itself wouldn't necessarily be a problem save that I cannot delete the files from the first machine as my account doesn't have necessary permissions. Perhaps that is because earlier, in a botched effort to get Qmaster to work for me, I had created a local account on the second machine with the same name as my admin account on the first machine. That account is now deleted, and I have reset Qmaster preference many times since then, so this is may be a red herring.
The Apple document "Distributed Processing Set-up" says:
"All the computers in a cluster need Read and Write access to any computers (or storage devices) that will be specified as output destinations for files."
I'm just not sure how to go about that.
    Thanks,
    Cris

  • Deletion of user group

    hello,
I created a new user group ,i am trying to delete that group but it is showing the error like
user group XXXXX still used in master records.
    thanks and regards
    patan thavaheer

    Hi Thavaheer,
which user group are you referring to? there are user groups in Ad Hoc queries, user Ids etc.
In case, its Ad Hoc query, then you can delete the user group only if no query is saved in the user group.
In case of user group of user IDs, if any user exists in the user group you won't be able to delete it.

  • Unable to assign the user in user group through SQ03

    Hi All,
When I tried to assign a  user to one user group from SQ03 the tick mark is disables can't assign the user.
This is happening only to one of the employee only. Others i can mark tick.
    Please advice.
    Imran

    Hi
Please check if the user has authorization to that query....
For example if the user is a PA administrator & you are trying to assign this user to a user group which is Time Management ( Time Infosets), then the tick will be disabled.
This case was encountered in our firm too.
    Please check & revert.

  • SQ03, user group removed after release upgrade from 4.6C to ECC6

    Dear All,
I have a problem about user group - transaction code SQ03.
After the release upgrade from 4.6C to ECC6 the user group, that I created in the old system, are not present in quality and production environment.
In the development environment there is the user group but doesn't contain the queries that I created in the old environment.
How can I solve this issue?
Can I recover all missing queries?
(moreover I can access to the old environment)
    Thanks in advance.

  • Creating user groups using SQ03.

I am going to make a change to a already existing query 01 in the user group /SAPQUERY/AM. I am not a query expert, in fact this is the second query that I am modifing. I am reading some documentation that the first thing that I have to do is create a user group. from what I am reading, the user group will contain the users that are allowing to modify queries. Since our users do not use this tool, I am the only one that creates and modifies queries. I think I am going to create a user group and that my user-id will be the only one in the group - correct? will I create one user group and and queries that I make changes to in the future user this user group or do I create user groups based on the users group that are defined by SAP. example - If I am changing a query in /SAPQUER/AM  and in /SAPQUERY/AU - would I create 2 user groups  1 for AM and 1 for AU or would I create only 1 user group and use it for both queries.
After this, I think I have to copy the infoset (SQ02)and the query (SQ01) to custom names (names starting with Z) and then attaching the parts to the new user group.

    Hi Timothy
Typically you want to create user groups for functional areas or grouped reports/queries. You can enter as many users as needed into a user group and only those who have the checkbox next to their name in the user group screen will have authorization to create/modify queries in the infosets where the usergroup is assigned. If you are creating 2 usergroups with the same users and authorizations then that is redundant but if the list of users is different or the authorizations may change then it would make sense to have 2 usergroups. You should have some naming convention to follow when creating the queries but the Z prefix is not required.

  • Are there any Mac user groups in central Louisiana?

I was wondering if there are any Mac user groups in central Louisiana.
I live in Alexandria and would like to meet any fellow Mac or i Mac users in this area.
Also, does anybody know where to get a power supply for an older i Mac?
Mine was built/bought new in 2008. It quit one day and will not turn on at all.
With what help there is around here, it is a Windows area, the problem was traced
to a dead power supply. The nearest Apple store is about 120 miles from me in
Baton Rouge. If there is a good online source for parts, please let me know.
Thanks for any help with either question.

  • Ldap schema extension to control which users / group are imported

    Hello,
would like to have your opinion:
would it be a good idea to implement ldap schema extensions to control
which users / group are imported and controlled from ldap in a ldap
    mastered installation?
e.g. we could implement the following schema extension for users:
    attributetype ( 1.3.6.1.4.1.<iana-org-id>.1.1 NAME ( 'BogusisBeehiveUser' )
         DESC ''
    EQUALITY booleanMatch
    SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.7
    SINGLE-VALUE )
    # BogusinetOrgPerson
    # The BogusinetOrgPerson is derived from inetOrgPerson
    objectclass     ( 1.3.6.1.4.1.<iana-org-id>.1
    NAME 'BogusinetOrgPerson'
DESC 'RFC2798: Internet Organizational Person, plus Bogus Extensions'
    SUP inetOrgPerson
    STRUCTURAL
         MAY (
              BogusisBeehiveUser )
Then we could control the inclusion in beehive by simply switching
    BogusisBeehiveUser on or off.

sure; that's pretty much what is talked about in the Install Guide for LDAP Integration under the "inclusion and exclusion" section, about here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14897_01/bh.100/e14830/ldap.htm#CHDEFFJF
that doesn't go into the specifics of how you might want to design your objectClass schemas, though, as beehive is agnostic to that.
If you don't want to provision all users that match a certain existing rule (like everyone under dn=foo, or everyone where userType=employee), then adding a new attribute and building the profile inclusion rule around it is a valid thing to do.

  • User Groups Missing - Administrative Privileges are Inaccessable

I really can't figure this one out - somehow all of the system's user groups have somehow been removed from my mac therefore disabling any administrative privileges, other than the root user. Even when logging in as root and selecting my user as an administrator, it doesn't recognize the privileges and I remain a 'Standard' user.
I've even tried removing the setup file (/var/db/.applesetupdone) in hopes that completing the initial setup with a NEW user again would allow an admin and reset the groups. This proved pointless as even the newly created user is merely a 'Standard' user and still cannot be activated as an admin from root.
I've already run just about every self-repair function that I have, and none of them see a problem. If anyone has a method to fix this without reinstalling leopard, please let me know - I can reinstall leopard if need be, but I would really rather just fix the problem.

did it really happen to all groups? then perhaps a reinstall is in order. if it only happened to the admin group you can fix its directory services entry as described here
