  • IPCC 4.0(5) with Sql 2005 Enterprise DB

    Hello,
I currently have IPCC 4.0(5) (no SR) doing with an ODBC connection to a SQL 2000 server.  I am preparing to upgrade the SQL 2000 server to SQL 2005 (only upgrading a SQL server, not touching SQL 2000 running on IPCC).
According to the document in the link below, support for SQL 2005 as an enterprise db was not posted until IPCC 4.0(5) SR2.  I will be upgrading to IPCC 7.x very soon, but need to buy time and avoid touching IPCC 4.0(5).  Does anyone know if the ODBC connection from IPCC 4.0(5) will connect to a SQL 2005 server?

    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff.
You will probably have problems with the database subsystem, when you upgrade to UccX7.0.1 if the 3rd party database is af SQL2k5 server.
There is a fix for that problem, check below :
Upgrading UCCX to 7.0(1)Sr4 is failing ODBC connection to SQL 2005.
    Symptom:
Upgrading the UCCX server to 7.0(1) Sr4 and OS to 2003.1.4a SR11 is failing the ODBC connection to SQL 2005 external database.  (also a problem in new installations)
The error generated when trying to setup a ODBC connection to SQL 2005 database is
    ======
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
    =======
    Conditions:
Upgrade to UCCX 7.0(1) Sr3 or 4 and OS upgrade to 2003.1.4a SR11
    Workaround:
    Work around:
    a) In UCCX SQL Server 2000 - Start the Client Network Utility.  (cliconfg.exe is used from MSDE versions of UccX)
    b) On the General tab, add TCP/IP in the list under Enabled protocols by order. (make sure its first)
    c) Click the Alias tab, and then click Add. Under Network libraries, select TCP/IP.
    d) In the Server name text box, type the IP address of the server that is running SQL Server
    2005.
    Note:
If port other that 1433 is being used Click the check box to clear the Dynamically determine port option, and then type the port number of the instance of SQL Server 2005 in the Port number text box.

  • IPCC Express Version 7 SQL Access

We are trying to build a web app, in ASP .net
but are having problems connecting to the Sql Server instance on the IPCC Server.
The error appears to be related to the fact that the SQL server is not allowing remote connections.
Usually this is fixed by going into SQL server Surface area configuration manager and allowing remote connections.
This is not available on the server.
Does anyone know how to enable remote connections,or how to configure this or the connection string to use user/password etc. ?

    Hi
First thing is that the SQL server is not a default instance, it's a named instance called CRSSQL. You would connect to servername\CRSSQL in this case...
Secondly it only accepts Windows authentication. This can be problematic in scenarios where the SQL server is not in a domain.
To authencate to the DB, follow the steps I outline in this post : https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/1211272#1211272
Once you have SQL Enterprise Manager installed it's quite easy to set up, if you don't have it you can google how to do it with osql (the command line SQL admin tool).

  • IPCC 5.0 SQL enterprise manager

    Hi,
Kindly I'm checking some issues in IPCC 5.0
When I'm going to open start>Programs>Microsoft SQL > Enterprise Manager
I'm not finding the Microsoft SQL at all in the programs list
Although I found the SQL service Manager in the task manager of the windos [ beside the clock]
    and it is allready started
The call center is in a live network and has a premuim license
    Thanks for your help

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for your replies,
But I have configured before in IPCC 4, a script to write to external database
I used the local database and can read the tables exist for the real time data as i remember
    so:
    1. how to check the database tables that exist in the ipcc to deal with
Also there is a known problem about logging to historical report as i remember also, and it is solved by accessing the IPCC start>programs>microsoft SQL Enterprise manager and set the authentication to windows instead of mixed and it is solved the problem
    2. So where is this in this ipcc 5.0 server, and if itisn't exist here, which IPCCs contain the SQL Enterprise tool ?
Thanks a lot again for replying the above 2-inqueries

  • Unity and IPCC SQL question

    Hello All,
I have a question in regards to SQL, In the past I have been told that no maintenance was needed on the servers in regards to SQL (backups / reindex) and that it was all automated. Is that statement still correct in version 5 and 7 that we should not worry about the SQL installs on the box?
    2.   Because the SQL version is 2000. What are the steps for us to get the versions upgraded to at least SQL05?
I know that with unity you need to go to the cisco site and download the unity upgrades, but for IPCC what do i need to do ?
    thank you

There is no SQL upgrade that i know of for either product, Unity 8 will be the 1st version that will support SQL 2005
•The applicable version of Microsoft SQL Server:
–On a system with more than 32 voice ports, SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition or SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition
–On a system with 32 or fewer voice ports, SQL Server 2005 Express or SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000)
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity/8x/requirements/8xcusysreq.html
The requirement would be to upgrade to Unity 8.X
I believe UCCX won't change SQL version (and DB platform) until they release the Linux version which will drop SQL.

  • UCCX 5 SQL Dbase Query Issues - Slow Returns

For several months it seemed to me that our UCCX 5 system was beginning to have trouble. At first it appeared as a problem with our wallboard system being unable to display the real-time data properly. I had deduced that queries to the db_cra database were taking 4 - 5 minutes to return data.
At first I called on the vendor for our wallboard, but they were unable to help stating that it was a UCCX database issue - and I agreed. I then went to Cisco TAC and fed them all my information and asked them for help. They also were unable to help figure out what was happening, but they could see that the SQL queries that used to take 2 seconds were now taking several minutes. Since the wallboard system queried the database every 10 seconds, it was over-taxing the database.
This began to cause little anomalies in things like call-distribution, dropped calls, slow to no Historical reports returns, and this ultimately began to cause failovers to our backup node. I could not go a day without a failover and I had to reboot the servers almost every night.
I felt there was no solution and was afraid we needed to replace our system.
After talking to all the engineers around the world, my solution came from our very own SQL administrator. Within 5 minutes he was able to resolve all our issues.
The root of our problem was that the indexing of the db_cra database was extremely fragmented.
He wrote a SQL sript that he had me run against the database and he told me that this would correct any indexing issues.
    It worked like a charm.
The system stopped behaving poorly immediately. This resolved many of our problems that I had been living with for a long time. It made the Admin page work so much faster, call distribution issues halted, the wallboard is running faster than ever with real-time data, and the list goes on. This resolved so many smaller issues that I cannot even list them all.
I would advise anyone using a SQL database, whether it be a Cisco product or not, to always keep their database 'defragmented'.
My SQL admin also setup the script to run automatically, on a schedule to keep our database running like a Ferrari. It has been sweet ever since.
KEEP YOUR INDEXES CLEAN AND YOU WILL REAP HAPPINESS!

I was equally shocked that there was no escalation, as was my boss and my Cisco rep. They let me go with no resolution and hung-up the phone leaving me with instructions to have some-one else take a look at the database. It was very unexpected, especially considering how close they were to the point when we were trouble-shooting.
The TAC SR # 611904619 - IPCC Database Not Returning Query Data.
With this resolution, it also raised to my mind the issue of Informix. We are using CUCM 6.1.2 and are concerned about the same issue happening there and we would like to determine if this can happen there also, and if there is a re-indexing tool available for Informix.

  • Connecting to IPCC DB (db_cra) using Business Objects

    Hi,
I've been tasked with creating a Business Objects universe against a CISCO IPCC SQL Server database (db_cra), and I have no knowledge of the database and how the system works.  I also don't have access to the database outside of Crystal Reports.  I can connect through CR with the instructions provided by CISCO and using an OLE DB (ADO) connection, and there's also a launchHRC executable that was added to the crw32.exe shortcut.  The OLE DB (ADO) connection has Integrated Security checked, so I have no idea how I'm able to connect to the database and tables without being added to database security.
Business Objects does not have an option for creating an OLE DB (ADO) connection.  I have no idea if it's even possible to connect to the database.  Normally we have a default reporting user that's used to set up OLE DB and ODBC universe connections using SQL authentication.
And from what my colleague in Japan told me, it's not possible to add users to the db_cra database security.
If there's any information that you could provide it would be greatly appreciated   I'm really lost with this one so any help or advice would be great.
    Thank you!!
    Kevin V.

    Hi
It's best to specify product (UCCE, UCCX) and version when posting.
If you are UCCX v7.0 or lower, then see this : https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/272601
The trick is to set up the account on the server with rights to the DB, and use the windows pass through auth method to access the DB using integrated security (as SQL auth is disabled by default).
If on 8.0 or higher it's different as you're in informix land, and need to set up and use the uccxhruser account.

  • IPCC Database Insert

    Hello everyone,
I have an environment of two servers: CCM 4.X and IPCC 4.0.5
I wish to insert a few records into its SQL DB (in the cdr_records table), these records represents a period where the IPCC server was down.
Although I can insert these records into the DB with no problems.
I want to understand how the IPCC inserts into its DB. I think it would one of either way:
A- It simply looks for the index of last record in the table (i.e. N) then increments and adds to the table at row  (N+1)
B- It has its internal index and simply increments on that.
If it's case B, I'm afraid that it would overwrite other data of other periods.
    Really appreciate the response.
    Thanks,
    Ahmed

What I've done before which seems to have worked ok is just used a negative value for sessionid (since the generated sessionid's are always positive and the column datatype accepts negatives this seems to work ok without having values get overwritten).
    Cheers,
    Nathan

  • Writing Boolean variables to MS SQL Server

    I cannot figure this out.
In the script I'm working on, a boolean variable can be dynamic either True / False ,etc
I cannot get the syntex correct to write this variable to a "binary" datatype column in SQL Server.
Column name in database is Binary
    I have tried :
    UPDATE da-database
    SET Binary=@bStatus
    WHERE First=400
    da-databaseTEST
    SET Binary=&bStatus
    WHERE First=400
    da-databaseTEST
    SET Binary=bStatus
    WHERE First=400
    But if I use
    da-databaseTEST
    SET Binary=1
    WHERE First=400
It sets the field to true i.e, Works correctly.  Just get get it going with a variable.

    it is UCCX and
I'm having issues writing to a database doing any variable substitution.
I gave up on the boolean and decided to use just strings but hitting Null.Pointer Exceptions even though (IMHO) things are correct.
Is there a particular varaible type that I should defining in SQL that works "best" with the java beans and IPCC?

  • IPCCE 7 - Webview - when I getting report an agent appears twice

    Hi All,
I was having a problem with an agent's name being in the Cisco database twice. In order to get any data for him I have to select both names. If I select just either one of them then there is no data available.
Prevously  I gave to this agent a new phone extension at Callmanager and IPCC staff , so was wondering if I could take out his name that is still associated with his old extension? Where do I have to find? I need leave only the new extension.
    Thanks for your inputs
    Andres

Login to the AW (either directly or remotely using VNC or MSTSC), open Microsoft SQL Query Analyzer, select the AW database from the drop down list, and type in the command and press "Execute".
If this is beyond you, do some reading on the Web about using Microsoft Query Analyzer. You really should have basic SQL skills to maintain and administer IPCC, so don't be afraid to start now.

  • IPCC 4.0(5) sqlservr.exe spikes CPU

I have a customer with an IPCC Express servers running version 4.0(5). OS 2004.4SR5. Every second the sqlservr.exe process spikes the CPU to near 100%. I tried rebooting the server and get the same thing.
When I shutdown the IPCC services the spiking stops.
    Any Ideas

Do you all have any external database servers performing data dips  for reporting or wallboards accessing the info for real time data ? If yes just for testing stop these connection and check the CPU cycles for SQL process.

  • Using HA SQL server For 3rd Party SQL Access

Is it possible to use the HA SQL server as the access point for SQL stored proceduers on a link
server instead of the production SQL server. IPCC 4.0

you can try it out and see if it works however with 4.x we have observer memory leak which crashes the boxes.
Moreover as this type of scenario has not been tested by Cisco - TAC will state you to remove the setup before troubleshooting.

  • CAD replication question- IPCC enterprise

IPCC enterprise, 2 cad servers version 7.2.  One CAD server was down for more than four days causing replication between the primary and secondary CAD's to stop.  Ran postinstall.exe to restore the LDAP replication and same for recording and statistics , both showed successful but only LDAP seems to have taken.  when looking at the SQL database in CAD (using enterprise manager), the publication/subscription shows as deactivated for cra_agent_pub publication.
question:  Can someone look at there server and let me know if the subscription is supposed to show as deactivated?  (using enterprise manager, it is the listed as the publication on the primary CAD server)  if not, does anyone know if it is as easy as reinitializing the subscription?
    thanks

Possibly you have two separate issues, but let's address the replication issue first.
    1. Make sure that both RASS databases are well under the 2GB limit imposed by MS SQL Desktop Engine. Hit the 2GB limit and the DB will be deactivated. Go too far and it can even appear as "Unknown".
    2. Login as the local administrator and remove replication using PostInstall
    3. Use Enterprise Manager to ensure that all aspects of replication have been removed. All aspects!
    4. Again, using PostInstall apply replication again
    5. Check with Enterprise Manager that replication has been applied - all those red Xs should be gone - obviously .

  • Wallboard on IPCC 8.5.1.10000-37

    Hello all,
I had a previous wallboard that was running great on IPCC 7.x.  We have recently upgraded to IPCC 8.5.  I have followed the instructions on how to connect to the database with SQuirreL SQL and that is successful.  I am not sure what to put in for the Connection string to pull up this information.  Here is a snip of some of the connection code that we previously used:
    Set objCN = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    objCN.Open "Provider=SQLOLEDB; Data Source = XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX\CRSSQL; Initial Catalog = db_cra; Integrated security=SSPI;"
strsql = "SELECT CSQName, loggedInAgents, availableAgents, talkingAgents, callsWaiting, convoldestContact, callsHandled, totalCalls, callsAbandoned, convLongestWaitDuration, endDateTime FROM RtCSQsSummary WHERE CSQName = 'LOGV_SUPPORT_CSQ' "
    strAgent1 = "SELECT x.resourceName, x.resourceType, t.eventType, t.reasonCode, x.resourceGroupID, x.datetime, 'x.STATUS' = CASE WHEN t.eventType = 1 THEN 'Logged In' WHEN t.eventType = 2 THEN 'Not Ready' WHEN t.eventType = 3 THEN 'Ready' WHEN t.eventType = 4 THEN 'Call queued' WHEN t.eventType = 5 THEN 'On Call' WHEN t.eventType = 6 THEN 'Working' WHEN t.eventType = 7 THEN 'Logged Out' END FROM (SELECT t1.resourceID, t1.resourceType, t1.resourceName, t1.resourceGroupID, MAX(t2.eventDateTime) AS datetime FROM Resource AS t1 INNER JOIN AgentStateDetail AS t2 ON t2.agentID = t1.resourceID and t1.dateInactive is null GROUP BY t1.resourceID, t1.resourceType, t1.resourceName, t1.resourceGroupID ) AS x INNER JOIN AgentStateDetail AS t ON t.agentID = x.resourceID AND t.eventDateTime = x.datetime WHERE x.resourceGroupID = 1 ORDER BY x.resourceName"
    Set objRS = objCN.Execute(strsql)
My issue is I do not know how to connect to Squirrel SQL to pull the information from that connection.
    Thanks for any assistance.
    Jason

I figured that I would respond as I now have this working on my side.  These are the steps I had to take.
    1) Download and install the Informix ODBC driver - http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/CxN/InformixODBC/InformixODBC.html
    2) Setup an ODBC connection to the IPCC Informix server - http://amrgaber.wordpress.com/2011/02/24/create-an-odbc-connection-to-connect-to-cisco-uccx-server/
    3) Setup the ASP page as follows:

The last Response.Write during the Agent information is subtracting 6 hours from the time that appears in the database to show the correct CST time.  The database appears to be writing time in UTC.  UCCX is the name of the ODBC connection that I created.  There is also a line referring to x.resourceGroupID = 1.  1 is the GroupID for one of the call centers we have at this location, I just change that to correspond to the correct call center.   This is a heavily modified version of another wallboard that I found on the forums, unfortunately I do not know who wrote the original information.  I hope that this helps someone else, I spent a lot of time trying to get this working when we upgraded from 7.x to 8.5.
