SQL Server Windows NT - 64 Bit in Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard

Hi,
We have started migrating our SQL Server 2005 version and Operating System 2003 to SQL Server 2012 and operating system 2012 R2 Standard.
Before we restore the production database, we had created an empty database and tables. We ran couple of packages which were migrated to SSIS 2012 version from SSIS 2005 and those were working fine and we saw good performance compare to production server.
Recently we have taken 2005 SQL Server database backup and restored on 2012 version. Since then we are facing performance issues on 2012 server. Below is the configuration of 2012 server
Intel(R) Xenon(R) CPU E5-2650 v2 @2.60 GHZ 2.60 GHZ (2 processors), RAM - 32 GM and 64-Bit Operating System.
We are using this server only for data loading from SSIS packages. We have set that this server to use MAX memory is 25 GB RAM. We have checked the memory usage of the server and seen SQL Server Windows NT - 64 bit process is taking total memory allotted
and also taking 100% CPU utilization.
Old Server Configuration is
Intel(R) Xenon(TM) MP CPU 3.66 GHZ, RAM - 8 GB and 32-Bit Operating System
Could you please let us know what was causing for the high memory utilization on our migration server and make the server for better performance?
Attached the image of memory utilization.

Hello,
I would start by setting maxdop (max degree of parallelism) properly:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlsakthi/p/maxdop-calculator-sqlserver.aspx
Rebuilding indexes and statistics too.
Hope this helps.

  • MDT 2012 to Migrate from Windows 2003 32 Bit to Windows 2012 R2 64 Bit

I have used MDT for so long however only for client OS upgrade - XP to Windows 7/8.
We wish to use MDT to migrate from Windows 2003 32 Bit to Windows 2012 R2 64 Bit. All servers are virtual on HyperV or VMWare - plan is to use USMT hardlink Migration.
Is this supported? Has anyone used this for server migration?
Regards, Vik Singh "If this thread answered your question, please click on "Mark as Answer"

    Thanks Keith for your reply.
Even is USMT does not work, we are ok. SMIGdeploy will be helpful.
Basically, want MDT to run some scripts on the Windows 2003 server, post which install Windows 2012 and join it to the existing domain with the same computer name.
Then hydration kit to help with the installation of features etc. Also, we would like to take a complete backup to a WIM before migrating.
I am sure this is workable.

  • Bootcamp (iMac 27-inch, Mid 2011) Windows 7 (32-bit) or Windows 8.1 via iso file?

    Hey peeps,
I'm trying to bootcamp my iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) from an iso file downloaded via Microsoft (DreamSparks).
The only versions of Windows DreamSparks offers are Windows 7 (32-Bit) and Windows 8.1, both of these are .iso files.
I've tried putting both versions onto both a USB and Rewritable DVD, but my iMac doesn't detect the install disk anywhere when running bootcamp.
Any idea how this could be fixed?
I read somewhere that my iMac doesn't support Windows 8+ and will only support 64-bit versions on Windows, any clarification on these two areas would be great.
    Thanks for your time!
    Charkizard

Your Dreamspark account should have an option for both Win 7 Pro 32 and 64 bit.  If not, you can download the 64 bit ISO at http://msft.digitalrivercontent.net/win/X17-24281.iso  The serial numbers provided by Dreamspark will work on both the 32 and 64 bit.
Once you have downloaded the ISO on your Mac you use Boot Camp Assistant to create a USB install disk that has both the installer and the bootcamp drivers.  You will need an 8GB flash drive to do this.
Open up Boot camp assistant, there is an option to create a Windows install disk. When you use this option, it *** for the location of the Windows ISO file, once you select the ISO that you want to use just follow the prompts. Boot Camp Assistant will download the latest Boot camp Drivers, and then will create a USB drive with the Windows installer that includes all of the Apple Specific drivers needed by your iMac.
Just note that this process can take over an hour to finish.  But once it does, you can then use Boot Camp Assistant to partition your iMacs drive and then install Windows using the Flash drive that you created.

Thanks for replying G, a while ago when installing Oracle 10g try it but can not remember if not needed, or if I could not do, in fact my Oracle 10G me work just that sometimes I can not connect to the database from sqlplus, I was seeing the guide that I spent, but I have a doubt in this part:
    For example:
    10.10.10.10 mycomputer.mydomain.com mycomputer
The part I do not understand is the mycomputer.mydomain.com, here would have to put the same domain address with which I make the connection to sqlplus? in my case would be something like:
    http://computer1-5e7e5ee1a10:5560
How to add the Host would be this?:

We are in Windows 2003 32bit on Applications and Windows 2003 64 bit for database. This architecture was certified as per Support which we had confirmed via SR.Correct.

  • Migrating Windows 2003 (64 bit) to Windows 2008

    Hi Experts!!!!!
Recently we have been facing performance issue in our CRM 2007 development system. particulary with Tcode CRMD_ORDER. We have analysed from all corners like processor (4 processor), RAM (12 GB), User load (40 users), memory parameters, Network load, and also the EWA report from solution manager which shows that performance factor as green inidcator. But, while checking the load by transaction wise CRMD_ORDER is taking lot of time. We also run the DB Check and statistics update regularly.  So, I presumed that probelm is with CRMD_ORDER tcode and posted the issue with SAP where it has come up with a solution to migrate OS from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 as this is a issue with Windows 2003 server as per notes 1320013 and 1316558.
Now, what I would like to know is migrate from windows 2003 (64 bit) server to Windows 2008 then we need to follow system copy process only right. If  yes then we need to follow homogeneous copy method only as this is same windows environment only or have to go with heterogenous copy. Also, if I do a homogenous copy then I need to take the backup and also export the data from current 2003 server and then clean it completely. After that need to install 2008 server and then install SAP freshly and then restore the data from backup or system copy method. Is this right or is there any other better way. Also, kindly suggest if you find any advantages or disadvantages with this process or migration.
    Kind Regards,
    Sharath

Hi, yes you can do standart homogeneous system copy. First of all you need to test your scenario (if it are Productive server)
Create good backup and after try to do TEST system copy on installed win 2008, (this will show for you all
possible errors and surprises. But note SAP does'nt  support current the windows 2008 R2 , more information -->

  • How to upgrade Windows 7 64 bit to windows 8.1 ?

    Hello,
I have HP Notebook PC which i purchased as DOS based machine before 5 months. Currently i have windows 7 64 bit version operating system. Now i want to upgrade my laptop with windows 8.1 operating system. So how can i upgrade my windows 7 64 bit machine to windows 8.1. ? Also i am only able to format C: drive. So is their any way to upgrade windows 7 based laptop to widows 8.1 without affecting other drives?
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,
Read through these two useful documents to know about upgrade paths, possibilities, limitations:
    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2234-upgrade-install-windows-8-windows-8-1-a.html
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-from-windows-7-tutorial
Make sure that your HP support website has all the necessary drivers compatible with Windows 8.1 before proceeding with upgrade/clean install of any sort. This determines if HP support Windows 8.1 in your model.

  • Upgrading from Windows 7 32 bit to Windows 8.1 64 bit

I have Windows 7 32 bit. Recognizing I can't upgrade to 64 bit and over write the 32 bit system my question
I have multiple SSD. My existing winn7 occupies C:\
Can I install the new windows 8.1 64 bit on a separate drive and then rename it to the C:\ drive
    or
Should I disable the existing win 7 root drive. Go through the boot process of starting Win8.1 in the CD, having it designate C:\ etc and continue the install. Then re-connect (if I need too) the other SSD for the data files
Or, should I shut up and let you advise me the best way to convert to Windows 8.1 64 bit with an existing Windows 7 32 bit :)

  • Problem installing Service pack 1 for Windows Vista 32-bit from windows update

I have been trying to install Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista Home (32 bits) through Windows Update many times. The Update panel shows Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) is available. I install the update, which by the way, just takes me few minutes curiouslly. The "update succesfully installed" message with the green circle checked on appears. But then, when I check my computer properties, the Service Pack 1 is not there and Windows Updated keeps showing again and again the update for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (KB936330) is available and that needs to be installed. I don't know what else to do, can you help me please.

Try downloading and installing the standalone SP1 file.

  • Access printer installed under windows 7 64-bit from windows xp 32-bit

I have a CP1518ni attached via USB to a Windows 7 64-bit PC.  I'd like to use this printer to also print from another PC, a Windows XP 32-bit.  When I install a "network printer" on the XP machine, it says the driver is incorrect, probably because it is trying to pull a 64-bit driver over to the 32-bit PC.  I've tried downloading and installing the universal driver for XP on the XP machine, but it also says the driver is incorrect when I choose the CP1518 on the Windows 7 PC.  Can someone please point me towards a How-To article on this?  Or, must I attach the printer to my router in order for both machines to use it?

Welcome to the forums! Are you trying to set the printer up to be wireless or just share the printer from the 64 bit computer to the 32 bit computer? You can share the printer from the 64 bit computer across your network. Here is how to setup print sharing:
