[..\..Src\DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283]  Error on Startup

This error only happens when the laptop is disconnected from our domain. When trying to start Elements I receive error:
Premiere Elements 8.0 has encountered an error.
[..\..Src\DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283]
Then program will not start unless I connect the laptop to the network - which makes a portable laptop useless.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the program with the exact same results.
Anyone got any dieas?
Thankyou in advance.

Where, and how, is PrE installed? When you launch it, are you running as an Administrator?
First, PrE wants to be installed competely on the C:\ and wants direct access to the My Documents folder. It also wants to be both installed and then launched from an Administrator account.
It is not designed (nor is the big-brother PrPro) to function in a fully networked environment. It will extract media, etc. from an NAS, or from a mapped networked drive, but it does not like to run under most networked environments.
It's my guess that there is something in this installation that it is not comfortable with. More details will likely help.
Good luck, and looking for the answers to the questions above.

    Need help with this!
    I'm running a macbook pro 13"

    thanks

Please report back into this thread, as we can all possibly learn something. This can be very useful, as most of the "regulars" are PC-only users, and only a few are fluent in things Mac. However, even we PC-users, try to learn of fixes for the Mac.
Now, that is not saying that your issue is platform-centric, as it might be a problem that we have just not seen on the PC.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 startup error. (DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283)

When i start up Premiere Pro CS5.5 on my iMac with OSX Lion it immediately shows this error:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
    [/Volumes/BuildDisk/builds/Mulder64/shared/
    adobe/MediaCore/ASL/Foundation/Make/Mac/../../
    Src/DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283]
I don't really know what it means but i think it is because premiere can't find a file to start up because it doesn't have the right privileges. (When i login my mac as root user i can start premiere without any problems also in my administrator account with terminal starting it with sudo works without problems).
Did someone had this problem before? And how do i fix the problem?
    Thanks in advance, Levi.

I have run into the same problem. I am running a late 2008 MBP with 2 480GB OWC SSD's and 8GB of OWC RAM. I have 10.7.5 installed and am running in 64 bit mode. I get this pop-up when I try to open Premiere or Bridge:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error.
    [/Volumes/BuildDisk/builds/Mulder64/shared/adobe/MediaCore/ASL/Foundation/Make/Mac/../../S rc/DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283]
I am the Admin on this computer. I don't know how to give myself more admin rights than I already have? Photoshop starts up without issue.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you,
    Scott

  • Directory Registry.cpp-283 error

I am attempting to open Premiere Pro cs6 and am now receiving this error message - [/Volumes/BuildDisk/builds/mightykilt/shared/adobe/MediaCore/ASL/Foundation/Make/Mac/../. ./Src/DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283]
I have searched online and through my computer. From what I have read there is some sort of path that is not connecting, but I cannot figure out how to "re-connect" or find the right pathway.
    Please help.

There could be a number of issues going on, most of them related to your operating system.
Which operating system are you using? Have you manually gone to Windows Update to ensure you have even the non-critical updates for your system?
When did you last run maintenance on your computer? An easy way to do this is with Advanced System Care, a free program that fixes a number of things on your computer and cleans off temp files and malware with a single click or two.
    http://www.iobit.com/advancedsystemcareper.html
If the problem only occurs when you try to open a project, the problems could be related to your source video.
Also, you should absolutely NOT try to open one of your version 3 projects with version 8.

  • Error message = [\dev\stingray\Libraries\Asl\Foundation\Src\DirectoryRegistry.cpp-174] plz help.

I have CS2 (education version) and my Premier Pro 2.0 gives me the following error when i try to load it: \dev\stingray\Libraries\Asl\Foundation\Src\DirectoryRegistry.cpp-174
and will not load. All other CS2 applications are working. This program was working about a year ago so I'm not sure why or when it stopped. The only thing i can find on the web is a possible conflict with Matrox, which i do not have, and mention of possible conflict with some codex but no hint as to what kind or which ones or the like. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

These similar errors might provide a solution:
    Error:DirectoryRegistry.cpp-165
    Error:DirectoryRegistry.cpp-283
    Cheers
    Eddie

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 10 Error 1 or [..\..\Src\DirectoryRegistery.cpp-283.

I installed Adobe Premiere Elements 10.  When I double click on the shortcut icon , I get configuration error 1 which tells me to uninstall/reinstall and then contact Adobe support if it happens again.    Uninstalling/reinstalling did not resolve problem so I contacted Adobe support.  First time spent about 45 minutes on hold while the person consulted with other colegues and was then disconnected.  After waiting about 1.5 hours for call back, I recalled.    After  about 30 minutes on hold was told that I should call a different number and pay $39  and I could talk to someone who might be able to help me but that this support line did not support this type of problem.  Went to online support.  Was told to add a new password protected user account, uninstall/reinstall and try to open program using new user account.  No joy.    Present status :  If I double click  on shortcut  icon, get configuration error 1.  If I rignt click and try to 'run as current user get  'debug error [..\..\Src\DirectoryRegistery.cpp-283.  If I 'run as the password protected user account get configuration error 1. Note that during the first call, I was sent an email with a 'case number' and a link to check status but the case number has never showed up on the adobe website.   Questions:
    1.  Any suggestions to resolve problem?
    2.  If I pay the $39, is it likely that I will get the problem resolved or simply get the same run around?  I have now uninstalled/reinstalled/restarted at least 6 times and there have really been no other suggestions from Adobe.
    3.  Suggestions for alternative video editing software if I can't ever get Adobe to boot up.  Thanks for your support.

  • Encore CS6 General and src\AMEPresetProber.cpp-267] Error

I was working the whole day on Encore CS6 without any problems, and now it just gives errors.
If I open a project it gives an error "General Error" then it is followed by "An input contract violation has occurred".
When I try to create a new project a error also pops up "..\src\AMEPresetProber.cpp-267]"
Is there a fix for this ?

    I would try resetting preferences.
Hold down Ctrl-Shift while starting the program. Deletes AppPreferences.xml; program does not start.
Now start Encore; preferences file appeared to be created on exit.
See "Recreate the Adobe Encore Preferences File" in this link for windows:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/encore/kb/troubleshoot-damaged-projects-encore-windows.html
Please let us know if this works.
For Mac, see "Re-create Preferences File" here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/troubleshoot-system-errors-freezes-mac.html
If you search for the amepresetprober errors and Encore, you'll see that the few solutions reported were generally reinstalls.
    Does AME open okay?
What version of AME / Premiere are you running?

  • Cpp-283 error on newly installed PE8

I have uninstalled PE3 which I have been using for years, and installed PE8.
First time I try to run it I get the error message something-or-other Directory Registry cpp-283.
I have searched the forum and see there are other posts about this but my head is spinning with all the technospeak.
Can anyone suggest how I proceed here?
I know I probably need to check my computer settings but even that leaves me a bit confused.
Sorry to be such an airhead!
Have had great help here in the past so thanks for bearing with me.

  • Is this an easy fix? Error message:\pre\Libraries\Asl\Foundation\Src\DirectoryRegistry.cpp-174

I have created a slideshow in PSE5 and exporting to Premiere Elements 3. As it was being exported, I received an error message as Premiere tried to open. The message is listed above in title. It has never happened before.
I have no idea what it means. Wondering if I should just replace with Version 9 but would this correct the problem?
    All comments welcome. Thanks!

Hi Steve: Your questions were very helpful. I am now able to load Premiere
3!! In my travels over the last few days to see if I could fix the problem,
I also downloaded Premiere 9 but it would not let me access it. It now loads
properly too! I did a defragmentation and also ran the system program to
check for memory problems. The memory checker seemed to re-set my computer
back to the beginning and caused a few moments of panic but everything ok
now. So, thanks very much for taking the time to look at my query and
    respond. Much appreciated!

    Hi, Steve.

    I have Vista (Familial Premium), a T3400. I am on a 32-bit.
I dont know if it's the RAM, but I have 2.0 Go of memory.
And for the space in my CPU, it's not a problem. I have an external hard disc, with lots and lots of space in it!
And I didin't downloaded the patch yet. But the fact is the problem just occured a few days ago. Before, everything was always fine...
    Thanks in advance!
