SRJ DEBT LETTER????

I recieved a letter from SRJ claiming i owe them alot of money..... £545.38 to be exact!
I was a bit wary at first when they wanted me to contact them and give details of a personal nature. Why would i give my address, date of birth etc to them to clarify who i am??? who are you more like???
I recieved a phone call from them a week later asking me details,of which i was unwilling to give.I am very wary due to the kind of people there are in the world today.eventually they gave me enough details to make me believe who they were, so the conversation started.
They said they had tracked my new address and the outstanding bill is from BT for the above amount, since we have moved house.
When we moved house, the first thing i did was make a list of who to contact and BT was one of the top ones on my list. They needed my old address, new address, account number etc and they had every bit of information they asked me for. This was in the beginning of February 2011,we moved mid feb (min 5 days notice needed). Our contract was due to expire in march 2011.
When we moved,we found that we could get a better deal with another provider for phone,tv and broadband,so we had given the notice to end the contract and after march 2011 we would no longer be under any contract with BT,hence the last payment being in March 2011.
I have been in contact with somebody at BT this week (12-12-11), and they said that yes there is a bill outstanding that needs to be paid. When i asked what it was for, they said for ceased payments from march this year and that the contract ended in October 2011.How can it be in contract when it ended in march? I asked what the charges were and he said for calls and ceased payments and cancellation fees.
Since looking into this further, and having had NO CONTACT via letter, email, telephone etc,of which they could have done,we have found some very interesting things.
1)  my mail was redirected until august this year.
2)  after logging into what i thought was a closed account since march, there appears to be significant phone usage in April-     June 2011,when we moved out in Mid Feb 2011.
3)  How did BT let it slip through the net when they were clearly informed of our new address details?? we now have a
whacking great big bill for something we weren't even there to run up!!!!
4)  I was told BT needed 2 weeks notice to connect in our new house, hence us looking for other deals in the meantime.
5)  The contract for our broadband and calls was due to end on 22-3-11 and if we wanted it in our house, the new contract would start on 25-2-11 after we'd moved in and we had until 12pm on 24th feb to cancel it if we didn't want to continue with BT.We DIDN'T want to continue with BT,so WE DID RING AND CANCEL. Clearly there seems to have been some problem with them actually putting what i was telling them in the computer system, hence me getting a bill that someone else has run up.
I would like any help and advice as to what to do next. We will take this further.Who has £545.38 lying around to pay off someone elses bill? IF I OWE ANYBODY MONEY,I PAY IT!! but i am not paying for this bill!!
Sal

Hi sal.
The only people here who can help you with looking into this are the forum mods.
If you fill in this form: http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4951 with a link back to your post for ref, the mods will get back to you. It can take up to 3 days ( sometimes longer in busy periods), and they will contact you direct via phone or email.
I will say whatever cancellation charges you had and might disagree with, if you had broadband and did not request a MAC code to move to another ISP, then there would at least be a £30 cease charge for broadband, if nothing else..
Also was it an 18mth contract or 12 mth
Anyway, like I said, get in touch with the mods and see what they say.

  • SRJ Debt collection claim I owe BT a cancellation ...

I was so pleased to come across this forum via a search for SRJ Debt collectors.  I received a letter from SRJ today asking me to contact them urgently.   Clearly concerned, I called them and have been told that I owe BT just over £35 for cancellation of my phone service.
I moved house in April 2009 and informed BT well in advance of the move that we would no longer require their services.  I had been a customer at the address since July 2005 and was not tied into any package time agreement.
After moving BT contacted at my new address re the final bill which was settled and I eventually received a small refund for overpayment!!
I really could do without all the worry over this.  I know it's not a huge amount, but I have read so may horror stories this morning regarding SRJ.  My fear is that this is the start of endless letters and phone calls to very arrogant and unpleasant individuals, such as the person who took my call this morning.
Is there a BT number that I can call direct, where I can find assistance?
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  • Debt Collector sent letter to start sending payments directly to Capital One

So I had a judgement a few years ago from an old capital one card, been paying on it since to a debt collector (Hosto and Buchan). The last few months I kept sending a request for a current balance owed on it, but didn't hear from them. Sent a more formal letter the third time with my payment. Well about a week or two ago I got a letter from them stating they were no longer managing my account and to send payments to Capital One (they included a PO box to send it to) and returned my payment I had mailed in for last month.  Seemed kind of odd. So this month's payment is due this week and I was getting ready to send in payment to C1, but thought I'd post here first to see if this throws any red flags up to anyone, or if there's something I should do before just start sending payments in to C1?Thanks!Jen

  • Itunes won't let me pay off my debts.

Itunes suddenly wont recognize my debit card. I have been using it for years but now it has suddenly stopped working. I have tried re-putting in my information. I am sure that i have the correct funds in the bank and I am using a solo card. Can anyone help?

Go to the Summary tab and check "Sync only Checked Songs and Videos."  Then go to the Music tab and select "Sync Music" and "Entire Music Library".  Then exit the iPhone section and go to your main music list on iTunes.  From there, check off only the songs you want to sync.  Then sync your iPhone.
Also, on the iPhone, to delete a song, go to your Songs list and swipe left or right on a song's title.  A Delete button should appear - press that.  As long as the song is checked in iTunes, though, it will come back the next time you sync.

  • Debt recovery on moved broadband with BT (Current ...

    Small history:
Signed up with BT broadband some 3,5 years ago, As well as a phone line. About 1,5 year later, we moved address not to far from the old one, and thus called BT to have our phone and broadband moved to the new address.
I asked weather this was a problem, as we had run the course on our contract, and they didn't give any warning signs as to us moving to a new address.
As we held on to the old apartment for 2 months after moving to the new, not long after, they contacted us regarding an outstanding bill at that old address, and I asked how that was possible since we were now installed at a new address and paying for both broadband and phone there, and also why I was told that it would be closed, with no charges, when moving into a new address. One phone call later they were happy that to inform us, that it was a mistake, and the charges would be removed, we assumed that was the end of it, and continued to this day, with BT.
Now this morning, we received a letter from a Debt recover agency called SRJ. They claim we owe BT 150 pounds in outstanding charges for BT broadband at our old address. To be sure after calling them, talking to some person claiming this and that, not to mention the threats, I went to try and call BT and ask them what they possibly have going on here. Got India, and got disconnected (Will try to get an English number for billing if it exists) no surprise there (Anyone got a number to English "service" ?)
So, apart from the fact that I don't believe one second, that after 2 years, they suddenly pop out, with no warning to collect money, that we never owed them in the first place, as all bills have been and always was pay'ed. Any suggestions and or experience with similar claims would be appreciated.
    Cheers, Mac,

    Update.
About 2:30 into calling BT, and 2 wireless phones with dead batteries later, on the 4 call, I managed to get through to the correct department for billing in the UK. Spoke with a very nice lady, who promised that they would call of the debt recovery, until the matter had been sorted, and is now being looked into, with a firm promised that she would call me back within the day, to see what they can recover.
As this is on the old account system, they seem to be having trouble accessing the details, but I did manage to attain, that they believe to have somehow transferred back a valid payment of our broadband, to our account, thus missing a payment from May 2009.
This brings me back to the fact, that our broadband contract at the old address ended in January or February 2009 and we took over the new address from 2nd of march 2009. I even have a letter from the 26 February stating that they are happy to confirm the renewal of our old contract, which makes no sense, and probably where the fault lies, as I remember calling them asking why they are renewing our old contract when, we in fact, just asked them to move the broadband to our new address a week later. This is where they returned payment we made via direct debit probably around may 2009 where that bill would have been due.
Going to check into our accounts, if they date back that far to see what has been payed and what was returned and when. Might shed some light on this rather odd occurrence.

  • Dunning Letter for Single Customer in Version 2007A SP01 PL09?

From the SAP Help I feel I am going mad am I?
"From the SAP Business One Main Menu, choose  Reports  Sales and Purchasing  Aging  Customer Receivables Aging .
The Customer Receivables Aging - Selection Criteria window appears.
Select filtering options to display the customers you want.
Set the report options to Age by Due Date and double-click the customer row to display all the documents composing the debt.
Select the Letter column to schedule this invoice for a dunning letter.
You can manually change the dunning level by choosing the Level column. "
I don't see the Letter column? am I missing something that is very obvious?

After you run the report a list of customer will be listed with their debt (0-30, 31-60, 61-90, 90+)...
Notice that a row number is given per customer on the left of each row.
Double click that row number, then you will see a list of invoices with its balances, the last two columns on that window are (Level, Letter) check the box for letter and then you will be able to change the Dunning Level
    Good luck

  • Open letter to Gavin Patterson

BT are driving me to mad with their BS.  I wrote this to the CEO with some vague notion he might read it or maybe even give a hoot.  Scroll down for the usual lengthy tale of woe.
    Dear Mr Patterson,
    Ref:  xxxxxxxxxx
I am writing to you in the hope that you can help me with an ongoing difficulty that has left me dumbfounded.  Over the past few months I have been disputing an engineers charge on my account.  As the demand for payment is now approaching the legal stage I have tried to make sense of BT policy, but I find myself caught in an endless loop.
I have been told that it is impossible to freeze the payment demands pending the outcome of the dispute.  I am sure that you have the authority to do this, and I am asking you to exercise it in the name of common sense.  I will outline my experience below, but in short there was an error in levying a charge in the first place, but more importantly, I have found BT's response to be far too heavy handed during which I have been misinformed and evidence has been fabricated by Openreach.
I ask that you postpone the demands for payment pending the outcome of the dispute - anything else just seems irresponsible.
Many thanks in advance - xxxxxx xxxx.
    The story so far:
    1. On Oct 23rd an engineer replaced the NTE outside my boat.  It appeared like a regular repair and he said nothing of it being chargeable - hence I had no need to take photos, examine old NTE etc.  He advised we put a plastic bag over the new NTE, thus indicating the less than perfect waterproofness of the boxes.2.  I disputed the charge on 6th Jan and was told I would not need to pay it until it was resolved.  I was not told that this was conditional on maintaining my account.  When I left BT (because of poor standards of service) the promise of not having to pay until resolved was reneged without warning.  I gave the agent the details of the unusual installation (on a boat).3.  The dispute was rejected.  The agent I spoke to on 14th Feb said that her colleague had not passed the relevant information to Openreach;  she said the information was vital to my case and in her opinion I should not have been charged.4.  Today I was told that the reason for rejection was 'water ingress through internal wiring.'  This is not on the engineer's report and no-one has inspected it since. The engineer's report say cause 'unknown.'  Openreach have just made this up.  If I had known that this was their reason I could have provided further information a month ago.5.  The idea of water ingress through internal wiring is ludicrous.  I won't go into details, but one look at it will reveal the stupidity of this idea.  A few photos of the installation would show this.6.  I am currently facing a threat of debt collection charges.  The latest BT agent was unable to tell me what they might be or whether these charges would be cancelled if the dispute is successful.  She advised I wait until the next letter from the legal department and I could then contact them about it.  She knew of no way of finding this information.7.  Everything underlined above is either negligence or bad practice or misinformation or a fabrication of evidence.  I have received conflicting information from BT representatives and so have no reason to trust anything I am told.  I feel accused of something over which I have no power to represent my position.
    8.  The catalogue of screw ups has delayed a resolution to the dispute such that it leaves me potentially facing legal action and credit rating problems.  This is just plain wrong.

  • Debt collectors chasing me for an account that was...

    Hello all,
Received a phone call this afternoon from quite an aggressive lady from a company called Advantis and representing a third party called TDX.  She was quite cryptic at first and started out by asking me for lots of my personal details.  I went along with this for a while then decided I had had enough and I wanted to know what was going on.
She informed me that I owed (either her company or TDX, I'm not 100% sure as I had just woken up) for an outstanding BT bill of £197.  I told her I thought she must have made a mistake but she was not interested and just wanted to talk about payment.  She wasn't even able to give me exact dates or even the reason for the charges but did inform me that she worked for a debt collection agency.
I told her I would commit to nothing until I rang BT.  I got through to the BT call centre about an hour later and was indeed told I had owed broadband and line rental frees from July, August and September 2010 that they having tried to collect from me unsuccessfully had sold onto a collection agency.
I'm not currently a BT customer - I cancelled my last account with them at the end of May 2010 as I was moving house.  I told the call centre advisor this and he admitted that he could see on my account a phone call I made on the 29th May 2010 to cancel my account.  I had at that point paid the following months (June) fees.
However he then informed me that the cancellation had been cancelled!  He did not tell me by who though.  I assumed this was just a minor problem and he would be able to see that my usage (MBs) of the service ceased at the end of May and obviously a mistake had been made cancelling the cancellation.  I never used a phone from this line so it was all just rental and broadband.  He sounded positive that a favourable outcome could be arrived at but he would have to ring me back in 30mins.  Hate these ring back promises as I've been lied to in the past by some BT reps.
He did ring back, after an hour, but did apologise for this so I was happy enough - the conversation started well but then he informed me that the service had been used as he could see data totals for 3 months after I left my address.  I asked him how this was possible as I had moved out of the property and he basically said this was only possible if I had still been living there and using the service.  He basically implied I was lying and would have to pay the bill with the third party.
I have a letter from the company I rented the flat from informing me that I had given notice on the flat in April 2010 and would have to move out at the end of May - If I was still there and using the service I'm sure the new tenants would have spotted me!!!
I was then informed again that this was my debt and he could do nothing for me and I would have to pay it.  I re-iterated that I had left the address at the end of May and asked if there was any possible way this could have happened by accident - he said no the account must have been accessed by me or somebody who knew my password and from my flats landline!  I had never told anyone my password.
The account was finally cancelled after three months of non-payments and I was told they will have tried all ways of contacting me - nobody thought to Email me at my 10 year old BT Internet account though!
He ended the call by saying his manager would ring me in 2 hours time, 3 1/2 hours have passed since then!
From what I have read this seems like a friendly forum - If possible could anyone comment on the following please:
How and why would a cancellation be cancelled?
When investigating this before sending to debt collectors did nobody see the cancellation on my account and notice that my direct debits had been cancelled and think it was a bit odd?
How can my account run up data usage when I no longer lived in the flat or used the router or landline - I had moved 200 miles up the country and was using a Virgin service?
Does this cast doubt on the amounts of data I was being billed for prior to the cancellation, some of my monthly bills were very high?
Is my credit rating now trashed?
Why do BTs overseas call centres only ring back 50% of the time?
Sorry its so long but I wanted to give as much info as I could, hoping for opinions

Nobody from the call centre bothered to ring me back as promised yesterday.
I waited until 12.45 today to ring them again - spent 15 minutes on the phone explaining again to be told the they were having system problems and couldn't help me.
Was again promised a call back - 8 hours later still no call back!
If the debt collectors ring again I'm reporting them to the police and BT to the Office of Fair Trading.
If anyone from BT does read this can I have a job in one of your offshore call centres please - it sounds great, just keep promising callbacks that you never have to make!

  • Direct Dispute letter feedback needed!

So I drafted my very first DD letter to Calvary Portfolio. They are reporting a wrong DOFD. My last payment to the OC was 10/2008 and they're reporting a DOFD of 6/2009. I've already contacted the OC and they no longer have any information of my account except the charge off date and the CA. The OC took a REALLY long time (12 months!) to charge off the account and I think the CA just made up their own DOFD by counting back 6 months from the CO date. This is not a request for debt validation/verification under FDCPA §809(b) In compliance with FCRA §623(a)(8)(D), and enacting regulations published at 16 CFR §660.4, this Notice of Direct dispute includes: Identification of the specific information being disputed: Date of first delinquency (DOFD) as 6/2009. Basis for the dispute: You obtained this account from the original creditor CitiFinancial. The DOFD should be no later than 11/2008 as the last payment made to the original creditor was 10/2008. I am requesting that you send me proof of the DOFD that you are reporting by way of a complete payment history that you should have obtained from CitiFinancial. Supporting documentation: Enclosed I have attached a portion of a bank statement showing the last payment made to CitiFinancial. I am also including a portion of my Equifax credit report where it lists the DOFD as 6/2009.
Under the provisions of FCRA §623(a)(8)€ and 16 CFR §660.4, you have the duty to review all of the information I have provided to you, to complete your investigation of this Direct Dispute within 30 days of my Notice of Direct Dispute, and report directly back to me with the results of your investigation within 5-days of the completion of your investigation. I am requesting that you verify this information with CitiFinancial and update my credit report to all three credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian, and Transunion, accordingly. Should you find the disputed information to be inaccurate or incomplete, or if you cannot verify the accuracy or completeness of the disputed information, you are additionally required, under FCRA §623(1)(E), to remove this account from my credit reports and to promptly notify all three credit reporting agencies. Regards,MY PRINTED NAME Do you have access to an EQ report showing Citi's report of this account? EQ reports (if direct from them or annualcreditreport.com) will show the actual DoFD as reported by them. That DoFD should have been provided to the CA along with the other account information. Legally the collector must use the OC's DoFD, if they can determine what it was. A report showing it would be adequate proof.
