Srvctl instance status doubt

Why srvctl utility showing "Instance is running" evenif it is in nomount, mount and open state?
Is instance is running in nomount state?
I have four node cluster and 4 instances are running on it. Frist instance started in nomount mode, second one started in mount mode and third instance started in open mode and fouth one is not running.
srvctl utility showing instance is running event if it is in nomount, mount and open state
SQL> !srvctl status database -d dtrac

As always including version and platform is key to getting answers.
You choose not to share that bit. Probably because it is too much work.
Yet, I recall on Wineblows, srvctl will report 'running' as soon as the associated Wineblows Oracle service is running, regardless of the state of the database.

PS I seem to have overlooked the version and platform bit, as it was not opening the post.
The Wineblows comment stands.

how can I change instance status BLOCKED to READY?

    Hi,
it very nice your solve your problem but one of possible reason when database configure in SHARED SERVER mode. or we received ORA-12520 error.

For above error you have to check configure two parameters.
    1.Shared_servers
    2.Dispatchers
    SQL> alter system set shared_servers = 1;
    System altered.
    SQL> alter system set dispatchers = "(PROTOCOL=TCP)" ;

  • NetWeaver Administrator shows Instance status as yellow

I see my Java Instance status in NWA 7.1 under Java EE Instances but all that is shown is the System Nr, Host, and status, which is a yellow triangle.
There are no OS Process PIDs, or anything.  Where is the information stored?  Can I fix this somehow (I hope so).  This happened after a Homogeneous System Copy.

    Hi,
After Java system copy you need to modify instance ID in config tool.. This is a required step..

  • ASM instance status

    Hi All,
I exported the ASM instance in one of our test environment. oracle 11g aix box
As we all know that asm instance can be brought to nomount and mount. but not in open mode.
now when i check the view v$instance, it show the asm instance status as 'STARTED', but not mounted? Is there any reason behind this?
Same way i checked for exporting a database , and brought it to
nomount state, instance status was nomount
mount state, instance status was mounted
open state, instance status was open.
but when i check the v$asm_diskgroup it showed the diskgroup is mounted.
so cant we check an asm instance is mounted or not apart from v$asm_diskgroup view and alert log file?

PRKO-2015 : Error in checking condition of instance on node: BNY-S-T16
this error occurs when we start the database instance using the sqlplus rather than the SRVCTL command line utility. it happens very rarely..
login to the second instance and issue the alter system register command and then issue the srvctl command line utility.
dont try this if you are in a production environment at peak hours. (i had the similar issue on my laptop and i solved it using the following steps so if you are on the production environment make sure that shutting down and starting up the instance dont affect clients well if u have already configured TAF)..
login to the sqlplus at the second instance. if the sqlplus utility shows that it has connected properly. i mean if you get the details regarding the database version etc. shutdown the instance using the shutdown command and then startup using the srvctl utility..
if the sqlplus connects to the idle instance even after setting the correct sid and environmental variables. then use the shutdown abort and start the instance using the srvctl utility.

  • ASM, Listener, Instance status changes to OFFLINE.

    Hi All,
I have completed the installation part...whereby installed Clusterware (no OCFS2), ASM and the RAC database S/w along with the database. The RAC version is Oracle 10.2.0.1. The installation is done on the CentOS operating system.
The crs_stat -t shows all the resources. I am facing the following issue.
    1) After rebooting the server, most of the resources status changes to UNKNOWN. I need to stop all the resources and then need to restart it again (crs_start -all).
    2) The ASM, Listener and Instances resources status changes to OFFLINE after restarting all the resources. This happen regularly. Below is the output.

If someone can help me with some solution for Point 2, it will be great.

    Your Database started completely, right?
    You found ASM processes, right?
    You can check by:
    srvctl status asm -n <node_name>
    How?
    try to stop/start cluster again...
Or try to start step by step -> nodeapps -> ASM -> database by use srvctl command-line
anyway if you serious about resulting from crs_stat command-line:
You need to unregister from Cluster and add it again.

  • Get instance status through RESTful SDK

I am working with a client who has integrated some BO 3.1 functionality into their application using the .NET SDK.  I am evaluating their code because they are upgrading to BI4.1 and a lot of the code will have to be scrapped and rewritten because they are using classes that are no longer available in the 4.1 .NET SDK.
Ideally I'd like to rewrite the code using the RESTful web services.  I can see how to get folders and reports, how to schedule reports, and most of the other functionality they'll need.  However, I'm trying to figure out how to get a list of instances that belong to a report (Crystal or Webi) and the status of the instance (e.g., Success, Fail, Recurring, etc.)  Is this capability available in the RESTful web services?  If so, what is the request URI to get it?
    Thanks!
    -Dell

sorry Dell, no status for crystal instances, but webi does have status.
    Get details of a report:
         GET        http://localhost:6405/biprws/infostore/5602
This will also show a link to latest instance
To get instances (can’t get status)
         GET        http://localhost:6405/biprws/infostore/5602/children
To get instances that are PDF or Crystal formats (format is
    same as SI_KIND)
         GET        http://localhost:6405/biprws/infostore/5602/children?type=Pdf
         GET        http://localhost:6405/biprws/infostore/5602/children?type=CrystalReport
Webi (raylight) has more details (including status):

  • Instance Status Yellow on SAP MMC Console

    Dear Experts,
We are installing NW 7.0 dialog instance on Windowsx64 bit platform, Central instance is running on Aix64 bit,
NW 7.0 Java add-in has installed on Central instance,
I want to start only abap instance on new windows application server, i set rdisp/j2ee_start parameter to "0",
Now java process do not start but SAP mmc console status is yellow because of it, disp+dowk process message is J2EE status info unavaliable,
How can unistall Java instance from newly instaled application server ?
    Best Regards

    Hi,
Regarding the MMC display "J2EE status info unavailable", as you don't want a dual stack remove the entry icm/HTTP/j2ee_0 from the instance profile and set the parameter 'is/HTTP/default_root_hdl = abap'.
Please reboot your system (bounce OS) to see if this helps.
If this does not help please try this.
    1. Stop the SAP service
    2. Open a command prompt
    3. Go to usr\sap\<SID>\...\exe\run
    4. call 'sapstartsrv.exe -t' from the command line
    5. Confirm the dialog window
    6. Start the service again
    Best Regards

    Dear All,
    Database Version - 10.2.0.5.0
    Operating System - Windows XP
I am using Oracle 10g version, which has two services (bit10g and ora10g) installed on it.
Service ora10g was working before upgradation of Database to 10.2.0.5.0 and it was fine.
On upgradation I was unable to start and connect using ora10g so I created another that is bit10g.
Service bit10g was working fine for quite a long time. The last I worked and connected was on thu and it was connecting with no issues.
Now when I am trying to connect to database today I am unable to connect as I am getting
ORA12514 - TNS:listener does not currently know of service.
Secondly I tried to search forums which guided me to check the Listener Status.

  • Instance status with UNKNOWN

    Hi,
See below there are two instances for ORATECH service.
    Service "ORATECH" has 2 instance(s).
Instance "ORATECH", status UNKNOWN, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
Instance "ORATECH", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
    S
one instance is UNKNOWN and one is READY.
Why it is UNKNOWN and how to stop this particular UNKNOWN instance alone?
    Thanks
    karti

  • OEM 10g shows DB Instance status as unmounted

    Hi All,
I have recently refreshed a DB from Prod instance but did not create a black out in OEM before starting the refresh of DB. After the refresh, the status of DB in OEM is showing up as "Status: Unmounted Details:The instance is open
The instance has been started in no-mount state" but it shows the listener status as "UP" and also shows the status as "UP" in the general section. I have tried clearstate agent and upload which did not work. I have also tried cleaning up all the collection files, upload files and state files and restarting the agent by unsecuring and securing it again but none of this worked. Does anybody have any ideas how to trouble shoot this?
    Thank you.

Search Bug 6073721 in support. That fix worked for me using OEM 10.2.0.5 on AIX.
To summarize: Find the metric and policy settings for the DATABASE (not the global ones for OEM) and change the value for unmounted to 1 (or anything > 0). Then go back to the database home screen and refresh. The fix might not take effect immediately, so try the refresh more than once.

  • Cant activate SAP ERP on HANA - Instance Status "Undefined"

    Dear all,
    following: http://sapappcenter.com/medias/SAP-ERP-powered-by-SAP-HANA-Getting-Started-Guide?context=bWFzdGVyfHJvb3R8MTE0MzE4MnxhcHB…
I tryed to run an ERP on HANA demo instance. So I have created an AWS account, activated EC2 and tryed to activate an appropriate 30 days image afterwards. All I can see is actually:
If I tryed to activate the instance through clicking the button "Activate" I was told to wait something about 40min, since the proccess need some time. I have waited for longer and also tryed more then one time, but sadly without any success: the instance is still in status "Undefined". Am I doing something wrong? Thanks,
    cheers

    Hi Stanimir,
SAP CAL should create a default VPC if you left the default network option. Could you check the network name in the instance details in SAP CAL?
I have checked this and found a default VPC, looks ok for me:
    subnets:
    route tables:
Not sure what you meant by network name, does this help?
Regarding rules, you just need to go back to the screen in the AWS console that you attached and click on view rules. Port 22 should be open for inbound calls.from anywhere, i.e. from 0.0.0.0/0.
Not sure I got you right, I took a look to Network ACL's and found the in resp outbound rules as following (here and further related to vpc-838446ea (10.0.0.0/16) | SAP CAL Default Network) :
I also found 3 appropriate security groups with in resp outbound rules:
None of these settings were done by me, they came obviously out of the box. Should I adapt something? Im a bit irritated since I have 3 security groups, no idea why. Thank you very much, I appreciate your help.
    cheers
