Ssh-keygen -t ecdsa not a known key type?

Has anyone beeb able to generate ssh keys using type ECDSA?  It's identified in the man page for ssh-keygen, but I keep getting the error "unknown key type ecdsa".
It works for RSA or DSA, but I'd like to use ECDSA (or even better, ed25519).
Thanks for any advice.

John,
You're most likey right.... I'm assuming too much will happen on it's own. I'm just trying to enter some data from the Coherence "console" example C++ into this JPA defined entity. The console app takes of course one simple ( key Valur ) entry at a time. I assumed the first PUT would leave the other fields "null"... but apparently it doesn't know how to map the entry to the table. I'm also assuming that the "key" name would map to the Column name in the database.... I'm sure this must be wrong. I get the same error when putting a vlaue from a "java" Coherence console. I need to do some reserch on how to map these ( Key Value ) entries to the actual table columns.

  • Ssh-keygen and ECDSA in Mountain Lion

I want to create an ECDSA key with /usr/bin/ssh-keygen in Mountain Lion (10.8.2). The man page (/usr/share/man/man1/ssh-keygen.1) clearly states that this is supported. Nevertheless, the command ssh-keygen -b 521 -t ecdsa fails with unknown key type ecdsa.
ssh -v gives OpenSSH_5.9p1, OpenSSL 0.9.8r 8 Feb 2011 but I cannot get version information for ssh-keygen. OpenSSH is supposed to support ECDSA keys since version 5.7.
Strangely, the date at the bottom of the man pages for ssh, ssh-keygen, etc. is 28 September 2012 although I believe this is being automatically generated. The mtime of the man page (ssh-keygen.1) is Jul 25 19:24, and the source of ssh-keygen.1 contains the line $OpenBSD: ssh-keygen.1,v 1.106 2011/04/13 04:09:37 djm Exp $. On the other hand the mtime of the executable (ssh-keygen) is Sep 19 04:16 which means it has been upgraded more recently than the man page.
Running strings /usr/bin/ssh-keygen | grep -i ecdsa gives (among other things)
Invalid ECDSA key length - valid lengths are 256, 384 or 521 bits
    ecdsa
    ECDSA
    /etc/ssh_host_ecdsa_key
    %s: unknown/non-ECDSA key type '%s'
    key_ecdsa_nid_from_name
%s: legacy ECDSA certificates are not supported
So ssh-keygen on my system knows about ecdsa but somehow it thinks that it doesn't. Is there any hope except for waiting for Apple to fix this with another minor release of Mountain Lion?

This is still broken ... the manpage for ssh-keygen says you can use -t ecdsa but I also get the same error.  Looks like they didn't build ssh with support with EC support, *sigh*

I had the same "is not a known entity type" error when running under a development environment Eclipse/Tomcat using Toplink. But the almost same code and configuration worked when running under Eclipse as a stand-alone Java app.
Eventually I figured out (actually trial and error), that I had checked the toplink-essentials.jar libraries to be exported under: Eclipse Project/Java Build Path/Order and Export. I was messing around with libraries. Unchecking the export option there fixed the problem.
While its unlikely that this could have been your exact problem, I would check the library order and export configurations. Looking at other message boards about this problem, many seemed to have been caused or fixed by playing with their libraries.

  • SSH without a password not working (Public Key)

    Hi,
I am trying to setup some unattended backups to my server using an SSH public key, but everytime I try to SSH in I get prompted for my password. These are the steps I followed...
    1. I created my the public key on my client system using the following command:
    ssh-keygen -t dsa
    I left the passphrase empty
    2. I verified that my private and public key were created in ~.ssh
    3. On my home directory on my server I created the folder .ssh and set the permissions to 0700, and the authorized_keys file with the permissions of 0600.
    4. I next used the command
    ssh remote_host "echo $(cat ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub) >> ~/.ssh/authorized_keys"
    5. I next verified that my key was added to authorized_keys file on the server.
    6. then I try to ssh, but I am still asked for a password.
I have set this up many times on my Linux server without an issue. Is there something in the ssh_config file that I need to change on OS X Server 10.5.8?
    Thanks!

I am still working on this one, and would love some input. I tried the ssh -vv command, and it appears that the key is just not being accepted. At I tried creating both a dsa key, and an rsa key, but neither worked. Here is some of the output of the -vv option...

  • "is not a known entity" error from EclipseLink

    Hi,
I'm seeing a strange behavior in Weblogic (10.3.3) when using EclipseLink (2.0.2).
Here is what I do. I use Maven to compile a project in which I use JPA (1.0.2). In this project, module *"A"* depends on module *"B"*. "B" contains a bunch of Entities ( javax.persistence.Entity_ ). But *"persistence.xml"* is in "A" in which all entities of "B" are registered. "B" is deployed as an Optional Package and "A" refers to it via its MANIFEST.
Deployment is successful but when I run the application and try to persist an entity I get the above error in "A".
One of the following actions will solve it:
    - Restart the weblogic server
    - Update module A's POM file and explicitly add a dependency to module B. Originally this dependency is not there because classes in module A accept "Object" and pass that through to EntityManager (not explicitly the entity class type). Adding this dependency doesn't change the JAR file's manifest in anyway. It only update the "maven" directory in JAR file's META-INF folder. I don't think weblogic even care about this folder.
Why should this be the case?
I downloaded EclipseLinks' source and debugged the application. It seems that the problem occurs because "*+descriptors+*" collection field in "*+org.eclipse.persistence.internal.sessions.AbstractSession+*" class doesn't have the entity's descriptor and thus it doesn't recognize it as an Entity. I reckon restarting the server updates that cache. But what about the second solution? Why is that working? Is "maven" directory in JAR file's META-INF directory known to weblogic?

  • Manage-bde command is not generating recovery key on network location

    Hi,
I am trying to save the recovery key to the network share location and start up key in the USB drive while enabling bit locker. When the OS drive gets encrypted, the default folder for recovery password shows that it contains 1 file but not getting anything
inside it when i checked the properties of the folder.
i have already changed the group policy as "choose default folder for recovery password".
I am using the command to enable the bit-locker as "manage-bde.exe -on C: -rk
<network location to save recovery key> -sk <location of the USB drive>
-rp to enable the bit-locker. It is generating the start up key in the USB but not the recovery key on network share.
Can anyone suggest what i am missing or what else i should do to generate the recovery key on network share.
Does manage-bde process be able to save the recovery key on network share or it hand over to some other process to perform this task.
    Thanks
    Gaurav Ranjan

I got you Manoj, but I want to ask you one think that what if i lost the startup  key or my USB stick. I have my recovery key on the network share.  In order to log-in my machine I need the recovery password. From where i will get the recovery
password(48 digit). Surely from the recovery key on the network share. So how can i get the recovery password if only we have the recovery key.
I know both are different in context. Both are two different thing. I have lost my USB stick along with the recovery password and I have to log-in my machine. How can i do that i want to know that. Do there is any method to get recovery password from the
recovery key on network share. I have retrieved the recovery password when the recovery key in AD. But this time it is on network share.
Also one think which I need to solve is that the manage-bde -protectors -add command creates a new .bek file along with the older one. So the .bek file which get shown at the time of the start up of the machine is different from that stored in the network.
So i am getting confused as which .bek file is for which machine and hard to retrieve the password.
Is there any method to store recovery key on network without the -protectors -add command line so that both the .bek file should be matched and can easily be known for indiviual machine in an OU. As if both the .bek files will be different it would be difficult
to to retrieve the recovery password for the machines.
Please do inform if you need some more information about the scenario if i missed something.
    Thanks
    Gaurav Ranjan

I downloaded a trial version of the Microsoft Visio from the Microsoft site. However I forgot to note the Product key. Is there a way to retrieve it. PS: I hold a valid account in Microsoft website.

    Hi,
Could you tell me which version of Visio trial are you using?
Based on my test, I can find my product key again after clicking Register to continue button when login.

Ahh, there we go.  I tried to ditch keychain, but I guess this is one of the useful features I needed back
eval "$(keychain -q --eval --agents ssh)"
This works nicely.  Doesn't bother me about anything, but enables "memory" for unlocked keys.  Thanks!!

I am migrating from Lync Server 2010 to 2013. When deploying the 2013 server, it fails when assigning the OAuthTokenIssuer certificate. With the KeyException error below.

Please try to assign the certificate with Lync Server Management Shell.
    Run the following command:
Set-CSCertificate -Identity Global -Type OAuthTokenIssuer –Thumbprint <string>.
Check if you can assign default certificate to Lync Front End Server.
Check the Root Certificate Authority certificate is not expired.

  • Account determination not possible for key 3000

    Hi gurus,
While generating invoice iam getting the error like
"Account determination not possible for key 3000"
    3000 is comapny code.
    it shows the Diagnosis
"The system could find no entry for the following key combinations in the entries for account determination:"
    "Chart of accounts
Posting area Billing Default Values: Repayment Method (R401)
    Key 3000
    Field names BUKRS "

    Hi,
For the error, go to details, and check the main/sub transaction.  From there you can navigate thru error analysis and it will take you to the configuration details in SPRO. Check for the key specified in the error log, if the entry is present or not. If not maintain the entries accordingly.
    Alternatively
Please check the configuration for Automatic GL account determination.
Please check if the GL determination is made for the main transaction and sub transaction for which it is giving the error.
Path -: SPRO -> Financial accounting -> Contract Account receivable and payable -> basic functions -> Postings and documents -> document -> define account assignments for automatic postings -> Automatic GL determination.
Check for ISU : Define account assigment data related to main transaction and data relevant to transaction.
    Alternatively check tcodes EK01 / EK02.
    Hope this helps!!

  • In downloading my Events from iPhoto on my Mac to my iPad Air, the Events arrive in the proper order but not showing the Key Photo.  At the same time, the Events arrive in iPhoto on the iPad in totally random order but showing the Key Photo. Why?

In downloading my Events from iPhoto on my Mac to my Ipad Air, the Events arrive in Photos in the correct order but not showing the Key photo. At the same time, the Events arrive in iPhoto in a totally random order but with the Key phto showing. Why? of course and is there a way to shift the order in Iphoto and get a Key photo in Photos?

HHi, thank you for the reply. I have checked my iPad and iPhone and neither has iCloud Photo Library (Beta) enabled. Turned off in both. Photostream is turned on.
i tried to sort it out  by dragging all the photos to Events on the Mac and then deleting them from iCloud - (left hand side of iPhoto under the section 'Shared'). the photos now show up in Events. I did force quit but the issue remains. The message reads ' photos are bing imported to the library. Please wait for import to complete.'
i can't empty iPhoto trash either. The message read "Delete error. Please wait for import to complete.'
WHen I was moving the photos to the Events I always had a message about duplicates - to the effect that the photos already existed, did I want to import them? I clicked on Yes, import all duplicates. But when it showed the images - duplicates side by side - one showed the photo and the other was blank.
I really don't know what to do! And I don't know how to handle my iOS devices. Is it to do with the large number of photos? Any help, advice appreciated.

Can someone please help a friend of mine get a permanent registration key (not a trial key that expires in 30 days) to replace his lost registration key for Adobe Photoshop CS2? His previous hard drive crashed and he no longer has his registration key. This is vital for his wedding business.

Thanks to everyone for the tips on my CS2 question. It turns out in the end it was some plug-in filter software that was causing the glitch, not a lack of an Adobe registration key. As for why he still uses CS2, it does the job for him, so that's all he needs.
