SSRS 2012 Initial Rendering Incorrect

I'm running into an issue in the Report Manager where reports do not render correctly initially.
If a report requires user input (a parameter that does not have a default value), the report loads incorrectly--all images are missing (including charts) and document maps do not exist. Once a report is rendered this first time, if I click the Refresh Button
in the Report Viewer toolbar or try to browse to the next page, the report completely re-renders, but this time correctly.
I'm at a total loss as to why this is happening; any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi BradleyJamrozik,
Thank you for your question.
I am trying to involve someone more familiar with this topic for a further look at this issue. Sometime delay might be expected from the job transferring. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

    Hi Vichu,
    According to your description, you encountered the timeout issue when rendering your report. Right?
    In Reporting Services, sometimes this issue happens when rendering big report, and it exceed the default Query Timeout time. Generally, we increase the Query Timeout and Session Timeout so that it will have more time to retrieving data.
    In this scenario, since you have done this adjustment and the issue still exists randomly. We suggest you optimize the performance of your report. Please refer to the articles below:

  • Rendering HTML report from SSRS 2012 with full details

    I want to get the parent level grouping and child data in a single HTML file from SSRS 2012 so that it doesn't try to refresh when
    clicked on expand/contract the tree. The reason is i'm getting SSRS report from java application and when i try to expand or contract the tree view it tries to connect to SSRS. Is there a possibility to do it?

    Hi shady2111,
    According to your description, you have a drill down report rendered in a HTML file. Now you find when expand/contract the toggle item, the application starts to access SSRS. Right?
    In Reporting Service, when we render a report, all the data supposed to be retrieved. Even in application, like some applications using Report View Control, it still working same as in BIDS. Based on your information, we don't how this java application designed.
    And it's hardly to figure out the reason that caused your problem. So please post some detail information about the report and application if possible. Also for your troubleshooting, we suggest you cancel the "Display can be toggled by this report item" in
    row visibility to see if the data is fully rendered.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Passing rendering format and report parameters in the URL to call a report - SSRS 2012

    Hi,
    I've a SSRS 2012 with the integer and multivalue Creation_Years parameter that I need to call directly to export data in the Excel format.
    I've tried to use this URL:
    http://reportserv/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fInsurance%2fInstallations_Excel&rs:Format=excel&Creation_Years=2014 but the parameter is required in an interactive manner.
    I've tried to set the hidden property for the parameter, I've tried to invert the position of the "rs:Format=excel" string with the "Creation_Years=2014", but the error message doesn't change. Also if I specify the 2015 year, the parameter
    isn't overwritten with the 2015 value.
    Any helps to me, please? Thanks

    Ok, thanks, I note that you have added "rs:Command=Render": looking to the official documentation this string seems optional.
    Your url functions but the parameter cannot be a multivalue one. Do you confirm this?
    Thanks
    If you want to sent value for multi valued parameter through URL you need to repeat it
    ie like this
    http://reportserv/ReportServer/Pages/ReportViewer.aspx?%2fInsurance2fInstallations_Excel&rs:Command=Render&rs:Format=excel&Creation_Years=2014&Creation_Years=2015&Creation_Years=2016...
    also see
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155391.aspx
    If parameter value itself has characetrs like & in it you need to escape them first using javascript

  • SSRS 2012 rendering issue/Enabling Anonymous access - Upgraded SSRS from SQL 2005 to SQL 2012.

    Hi,
    I just recently upgraded SQL 2005 SSRS to SQL 2012 SSRS. Everything is working great other than small issue.
    Sounds like some authentication issue. SQL 2005 SSRS - IIS, we enabled anonymous access and we never had this problem. SQL 2012 SSRS /WIN 2008 R2 -  I am not sure how to enable anonymous access.
    If anyone can help me on this? I really appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Vel
    Vel Thavasi

    Hi Vel,
    According your description, you want to know how the enable anonymous access to SSRS 2012. Right?
    In SSRS 2008 or later version, we are not using IIS any more. If we want to configure the authentication, we need to configure in RSReportServer.config. This file locate at:
    <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS12.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer
    However, in SSRS 2012, Anonymous authentication is not supported on report server. Please see:
    Authentication with the Report Server
    In this scenario, we need to custom an authentication type to achieve the "Anonymous" goal. Please refer to the link:
    Configure Custom or Forms Authentication on the Report Server
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Issue with connection SSRS reportviewer control to SSRS 2012 integrated with SharePoint 2010...

    Hi,
    I have a .NET application that uses SSRS ReportViewer 2012 control to render reports deployed on SSRS 2012 integrated with SharePoint 2010. I am getting error "the report execution '' has expired or not found". The same code works when I connect
    to SSRS 2008 R2 integrated with SharePoint 2007. I investigated the issue and it seems the JavaScript that pings the SSRS server before it expires is missing from rendered HTML.
    Let me know if there is a way to fix this issue.
    following is the code:
    ASPX:
    <formid="form1"runat="server">
    <rsweb:ReportViewerAsyncRendering="true"
    KeepSessionAlive="true"ID="test"runat="server"></rsweb:ReportViewer>
    <asp:scriptmanagerrunat="server"></asp:scriptmanager>
    </form>
    Code Behind:
    if(!IsPostBack)
    this.Session.Clear();
            test.Reset();
            test.ProcessingMode =
    ProcessingMode.Remote;
            test.KeepSessionAlive =
    true;
            test.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl =
    newSystem.Uri("https://webappname/_vti_bin/reportserver/");
            test.ServerReport.ReportPath =
    https://webappname/RS_Reports/REportEngineTest.rdl;
    ReportServerCredentialscred =
    newReportServerCredentials();
                test.ServerReport.ReportServerCredentials = cred;
    report server credentials:
    publicICredentialsNetworkCredentials
    get
    // Use default identity.
    returnnewNetworkCredential("user",
    "pwd",
    "domain");

    What's the meaning of webappname, are you mean the sharepoint site?
    I think this issue can be caused by the incorrect url. You can refer to the following link:

  • SSRS 2008 R2/SSRS 2012 Tab Delimited setup is not working correctly in Report Designer

    I have changed a RSReportDesigner.config to add a tab delimited option for report export, but it is not working correctly in vs2008/vs2010 report designer. I get a duplicate of CSV (comma delimited) in the export dropdown list.
    I have tested SSRS 2008 R2/SSRS 2012 on Windows 7 64 bit professional.
    It is working correctly in the report manager.
    <Extension Name="TAB" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering">
            <OverrideNames>
                <Name Language="en-US">TAB delimited</Name>

                    <FieldDelimiter xml:space="preserve">&#9;</FieldDelimiter>
                    <Encoding>ASCII</Encoding>
                    <UseFormattedValues>False</UseFormattedValues>
                    <NoHeader>False</NoHeader>
                    <FileExtension>TXT</FileExtension>
                </DeviceInfo>
            </Configuration>
          </Extension>

    Hi Dave0323,
    According to your description, you want to export your report into TXT file and change the delimiter to be a Tab. Right?
    In Reporting Services, when exporting to a CSV file, we can change the default field delimiter to any character that we want, including TAB, by changing the device information settings in the configuration file. For example, to use TAB,
    update the FieldDelimiter setting to <FieldDelimiter xml:space="preserve">[TAB]</FieldDelimiter>. And we can change the FileExtension to be TXT if we want to export it into a TXT file. So in this scenario, we just need to modify the configuration
    file like below:
    The result looks like below:

  • SSRS 2012 background color format by expression issue when exporting to Excel.

    We are using SSRS 2012. We have a report that conditionally formats a background color for some cells. The report renders properly in a browser and in Excel 2003 format. In Excel format all cells after the first one that meets the condition are highlighted,
    even if only one cell should.
    The sample expression that triggers this condition looks like this:

    Based on your description, I try to reproduce the issue in my test environment, however it is work well. After export the report to Excel and Excel 2003, I can get exact same result when open the Excel file in Excel 2010.
    Did you open the repot in Excel 2003 or Excel 2007-2010? Please post more deatils, so we can help to work out this issue.

  • Greater than Equal to Functionality when retirivng data from SSAS 2008 cube using SSRS 2012 report not working

    I have an SSRS 2012 report and SSAS Cube in 2008. My report criterion requires filtering on measures. So Created measures as dimensions . The report requires >= functionality on the measures. But in the Query designer of
    the report there is =, IN, Within Range ,Excluding range , MDX as the operators.
    To achieve my goal. I have “From” and “To” as parameters on the numeric dimension. The “To” parameter I have set as internal and setting
     the default value of  “TO” .By writing another Dataset query that returns the “MAX”
    value and the MAX value returned is a member of the measure converted to dim I confirmed.. So this whole works as >=.The user enters only the “FROM” parameter and the “TO” is set internally. The user can enter any value in the “From” parameter. Any
    value that is not even a member.It is a textbox. I cannot use a list of values from the “From” parameter.
    But whenever I run the report after entering all the selection criteria
     I keep getting
    Error “the restrictions imposed by the constrained flag in the strtomember functions were violated”
    I know this means that Max value in the “TO” section is not a member .
    I did try
    : StrToMember("[Fact RCS CV BLAST].[APPRLIMIT ACH].
    &[" & @ToFactRCSCVBLASTAPPRLIMITACH &
    "]", CONSTRAINED) )
     But I get “syntax for the “&” is incorrect”
    If I use Drop down for the “From” and “To” parameters then it works fine. But that’s not what Business Users need.
    Please let me know what the options to make this work. I did use parameters that filter the
     Dataset returned it works fine but there is a performance impact.

    Hi,
    I think if you use the following method you will be able to compare the members.
    CDbl(StrToMember("[Fact RCS CV BLAST].[APPRLIMIT ACH].&[" + @ToFactRCSCVBLASTAPPRLIMITACH + "]").Member_Name)
    As you mentioned that you converted your measures as dimensions, you are having an integer value as the member name. In that case use VBA functions with MDX to do the datatype conversion.
    Take a look into the following MDX written against Adventure Works;
    WITH CALCULATED MEMBER [Measures].[Member Name] AS
    CInt
    Right
    CStr
    [Date].[Calendar Year].CURRENTMEMBER.MEMBER_NAME
    ), 4
    SELECT {[Measures].[Sales Amount], [Measures].[Member Name]} ON COLUMNS,
    FILTER
    [Date].[Calendar Year].[Calendar Year].MEMBERS,
    CInt(Right(CStr([Date].[Calendar Year].CURRENTMEMBER.MEMBER_NAME), 4)) >= 2005 AND
    CInt(Right(CStr([Date].[Calendar Year].CURRENTMEMBER.MEMBER_NAME), 4)) <=2008
    } ON ROWS
    FROM [Adventure Works]
    I am filtering the Years by using the member names by extracting the Integer portion of the member name and applying data type conversion functions in VBA. So I
    Keep in mind that you have to get rid of the CONSTRAINED clause if your business users can enter anything on the SSRS text box.

  • SSRS 2012: Report Header PrintOnFirstPage-problem after report migration from SSRS 2008

    Hi ,
    I developed my report using VS 2008 IDE and the report header property "PrintOnFirstPage" is set to False.
    The content of the header are some textboxes and lines that should show only on page number > 1.
    This works fine in VS 2008 IDE in preview mode as well as with reports rendered by SSRS 2008 report server.
    Recently I migrate&convert the same report to SSRS 2012 I noticed a different rendering behaviour of my report.
    So in VS 2010 preview mode, the page headers content (textboxe etc.)  is not visible on first page but the headers space did not colapse as it does in VS 2008 IDE preview mode.
    I checked all the report properties but unable to find a solution to my problem.
    I was able to reprduce the same behaviour by creating a new report using VS2010 IDE.
    Any ideas are greatly appreciated
    Thanks
    Bodo

    Hi BodoHH,
    I have tested on my local enviorment and can't reproduce the issue, the issue can be caused by many factors, it can be caused by the properties setting and can also caused by the visual studio, Detais information below for your reference:
    As you mentioned that you have check all the report properties, please also check the tablix,Page Header,report body properties to see if the size are the same with that in the SSRS2008.
    Please open this rdl report in the report builder to see if the print layout is correct, if it works fine, the issue can be caused by the visual studio.
    Please also try to upload the rdl report to report manager to check the layout.
    Please also provide the snaphot of the layout in VS2010 to let us better analysis about the issue.
    If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • SSRS 2012 (SP Integrated) report on SP 2013 PerformancePoint Dashboard: when too many filter items selected together report does not update anymore!

    I am having a situation with SSRS 2012 (SP-integrated) report rendered on SP 2013 PerformancePoint Dashboard using linked PerformancePoint (PP) filters.
    The report works fine as long as too many PP filter items are not selected at the same time. When gradually selecting more items from the filter, the report updates itself until more than a sepecific numer of filter items are selected - the report simply
    does not update itself anymore. This "specific number of filter items", when hit, generates the following error in ULS:
    An exception  occurred while rendering a Web control. The following diagnostic information might help to determine the cause of this problem:  System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed.
     at System.Uri.CreateThis(String uri, Boolean dontEscape, UriKind uriKind)
     at System.UriBuilder..ctor(String uri)

     at Microsoft.PerformancePoint.Scorecards.ServerRendering.ReportViewControl.RenderReportViewControl(HtmlTextWriter writer, ReportView rv)  PerformancePoint Services error code 20700.
    I already know that the cause of the issue is in the length of the query (perhapse RDL or MDX) that the browser is supposed to pass on to the instance of SSAS.
    Some people had suggested a workaround that was suitable for older versions or non-integrated SSRS (see here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/cb6ede72-6ed1-4379-9d3c-847c11b75b32/report-manager-operation-cannot-run-due-to-current-state-of-the-object).
    Knowing this, have already done the changes suggested (adding the lines suggested to SP's web.config for Reporting and the web.config of the site on which report is rendred) at no avail, just to make sure.
    I have rednered the same report on the same dashboard using SSRS filters and there is no problem; it just works fine. This has to be a bug in PP that is causing this.
    Has anyone had the same problem with SSRS 2012 (SP-integrated) report rendered on SP 2013 PP dashboard using PP filter? Any fixes or workarounds?
    thnx!

    Hello everybody.
    I confirm the issue in Service Pack 1 Release 2.
    Poor workaround is to remove the repeated infromation from the member keys (in SSAS they can be really long).
    The issue seems to be specific to SSRS: Excel Services works well with the same filter.

    Also, Report Viewer 2012, 2010 and 2008 (all of them) were installed on the server.
    I checked the RSReportServer.config file and it does have xlsx available and xls visible=false instead.
    <Extension Name="EXCEL" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ExcelRenderer.ExcelRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ExcelRendering" Visible="false"/>
    <Extension Name="EXCELOPENXML" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ExcelOpenXmlRenderer.ExcelOpenXmlRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ExcelRendering"/>
    The target RDL file looks working fine with .xlsx file export in the SQL Data Tools(Report Designer) but it's not exporting xlsx file and trying to export classic xls and failed to generate more than 65536 records.
    Can anyone help me with this issue?
    Did I miss anything in the settings or something?
    Your help would be much appreciated.

    Hello,
    If I understand correctly, Excel render format is working fine when you export RDL file, but cannot work for RDLC file.
    RDL files are created by the SQL Server 2012 version of Report Designer. RDLC files are created by the Visual Studio 2010 version of Report Designer. RSReportServer.config file is control RDL file rather than RDLC file. Based on my test, in Visual Studio
    2010, when we export RDLC file, Excel render format is .xls. You can try to use Visual Studio 2012 to test, if it can export .xlsx file.
    In order to solve the excel limitation issue, please refer to the document below:

  • Safari 4 rendering incorrecting after iweb publish

    When I publish iweb locally and then view it in Safari 4, the initial view is rendered incorrectly. I may do this repeatedly, meaning there are many tabs left open of the local web sight as I view a new one with modifications. Safari almost seems to not be loading the old web version (in addition to poor rendering). If I use the development menu and choose user agent Safari 4, it renders properly from there on out. It is only the initial view navigated to my clicking the iWeb visit website after publishing that has a problem. It is not a problem with firefox.
    Any ideas? It is a hassle.
    thanks
    bob

    I really don't now. I gave up on Firefox a while back and only launch it for these medieval sites that won't work with Safari.

  • SSRS 2012 Displaying unwanted subtotal rows in reports

    This looks like an Issue that has been noted and solved in prior versions of SSRS however we are now seeing similar issues in SSRS 2012 and have been unable to find a solution to this yet...
    Basically when we export a report with groupings and no subtotals to excel we get blank rows added to excel with the subtotals for each level in the report - sample is below, unwanted rows are highlighted in yellow:
    This was a very simple report, I have included the DQL and the RDL below for any help as we cannot get to the bottom of this problem...
    SQL - create this table in any database:
    create table test_SSRS
    ( Department varchar(50),Category varchar(50),Product varchar(50),market_value int );
    insert test_SSRS
    select 'Electronics','Computer', 'Laptops', 20000.00

    select 'Electronics','Computer', 'Notebooks', 40000.00

    select 'Electronics','Computer', 'Desktops', 40000.00

    In order to test with this switch the datasource to your local database.
    Jeremy Gillespie

    Hi Jeremy,
    After testing the issue in my environment, I can reproduce it. When we export a report with drilldown actions to excel, it will add an extra row for each group. The reason behind the extra row is to provide at least one row for excel that always displays
    regardless the toggle state. In your scenario, if we use the =Sum(Fields!market_value.Value) in the details row, then the extra row will display the total of this group, if we use the Fields!market_value.Value in the details row, then the extra row will display
    the first value of this group. Based on my research, this is by design.
    Thank you for your understanding.

    I need to link SSRS to the new database instance. For this I run SSRS Configeration Manager, open tab Database, click Change Database. Then I choose option "Choose an existing report server database", click Next, write the server name, test
    connection (it's successed) and push Next again. Then I see this error message:
    Error
    The feature: "Using other editions of SQL Server for report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services.
    OK
    I'm confused, cause I have compatible versions of programs and THIS error.
    Please, help me.
    Thanks.

    Hi Kirill,
    From the error message, we can know that the issue may be caused by incorrect editions of SQL Server for report data sources are used as the Report Server Database.
    When creating a report server database, please be aware that not all editions of SQL Server can be used to host the database. So we should make sure that we have used the correct database as the
    Report Server Database. For more details, please refer to the “Report Server Database Server Edition Requirements” section in the following document:

    Hope this helps.
