SSRS 2012 SP2, Native / Report Manager, non-IE browsers show date parameters in US format MM/DD/YYYY, ignoring locale settings

I have a server running SSRS 2012 SP2, in Native / Report Manager mode. The server, reports, desktop etc are all set to en-AU.
Using IE, date parameters show as expected in DD/MM/YYYY format.  However using Chrome or Firefox, they show in US format MM/DD/YYYY.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi Jiri,
Thanks for that speedy tip - that has solved it for Chrome.
I followed a similar path to get it fixed for Firefox - Settings / Content / Languages / add English/Australia [en-au] / Move Up to top spot.

  • SSRS 2012 MP (Native) - Bug with non-default port on SSRS DB, Does not discover

We have test changing SSRS DB instance to default port 1433 and discovery is immediate in SSRS MP. When using non-default port, discovery fails, SSRS instance role is never identified.
Our SSRS is separated into app and db tires across two servers. Have tried creating sql network aliases, but this does not work either.
In our environment, we use non-default port for our SQL DB instances. how do we get SSRS to discover.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rois Cordova

The Monitoring Pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services automatically discovers instances of SSRS 2012 by reading registry.
When the Monitoring Pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services is imported for the first time, it creates three new Run As profiles:
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services Discovery Run As Profile
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services Monitoring Run As Profile
    • Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services SCOM SDK Discovery Run As Profile
By default, all discoveries, monitors and rules defined in the SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services management pack use accounts defined in the “Default Action Account”
Run As profile. If the default action account for a given system does not have the necessary permissions to discover or monitor the instance of SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services, then those systems can be bound to more specific credentials in the
“Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services …” Run As profiles, which do have access.
It s recommend that you should check the default action account permission.

  • SSRS 2012 - Groups in Report Manager aren't present when exported to Excel

Hi all, hope somebody can help with this issue, as I cant seem to find any other posts about it
I have a report in SSRS2012. It was copied from SSRS2005 quite recently, as we have upgraded. The SQL developer said that it didn't need any code changes, as he had some kind of tool to test code problems between the two versions.
The report has a table, with 5 row groups, and one detail row. The table is setup as follows:
    Name                                         Sales
    Costs       Profit
    Group1
       Group2
          Group3
             Group4
                Group5
                   DetailsRow
When I run this report using the Report Manager website from SSRS2005, and then export to Excel 2013, I get the 6 row groups in Excel, no problem whatsoever. I can drill into each group in Excel, using the group drilldown column on the left hand side. This
works the same as the Report Manager website.
If I run the exact same report from the Report Manager website in SSRS2012, the Report Manager result is the same as SSRS2005 - all the row groups are present, and the drilldown works fine. However, the export to Excel has issues with the groups. There are
only 3 row groups showing in Excel, along with a column group added for no apparent reason. Drilling into each group shows inconsistent details, and there is no apparent logic as to what is shown within each group.
Hopefully, someone has seen this issue before, and can help, because I have no idea what to do, having spent a couple of days trying to figure it out. I should also mention, that this issue with groups is seen on all my reports which have groups, not just
    this report
Thanks for any and all help
    Naz

    Hi Naz,
According to your description, the report works correctly in SSRS 2005 while the same report doesn’t work in SSRS 2012 when exporting to a Excel file.
In your scenario, please make sure you are migrating the report from SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2012 instead of copying the .rdl directly. Generally, we are using Reporting Services Migration Tool to migrate reports between report server. Please refer to this article:
SQL Server Reporting Services: Migrating SSRS reports, data sources and subscriptions from one server to another.
After migrating the report successfully, you should upgrade the report definition in SQL Server Data Tools to upgrade the .rdl file. Please refer to this article:
    Upgrade Reports.
If you have upgraded the report but the issue still persists, please provide report design for our analysis. If possible, please provide some screenshots about the preview result and Excel render result.
If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • SSRS 2012 Blank Screen Report Manager

Installed SQL Server 2012 and configured Reporting through configuration manager but whenever i use the http://<servername>/Reports it gives me blank screen.
    Things i tried
    >Opening browser with Admin privileges
    > Trusted sites inclusion
    >Changing ports for report manager
    >Fresh install of SQL Server
    Other Details
    > Service account used = Network Service
    > ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB are created and accessible.
    > Reports accessing with full admin privileges
    Error:
Blank screen on report manager | HTTP 500 Internal Server Error

    Hi Saurabh,
Based on my research, we can refer to the following three tips to troubleshooting this issue:
Check whether the TCP port number of reporting services is duplicate with other sites' on IIS. We can find the TCP port number of reporting services in Web Service URL or Report Manager URL pages of reporting services configuration tool.
Check whether the SQL Server Name is correct in the Database tab in Reporting Services Configuration Manager. We can see the correct server name when we connect Reporting Services Configuration Manager. And based on my research, the Reporting Services server
name is the computer name which install the report server.
Check if the SecureConnectionLevel set to 0 which is least secure. To check this, open the rsreportserver.config file, by default, this file is stored at C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer, and locate
    its
< Add Key="SecureConnectionLevel" Value="0"/> element and ensure its value is set to 0.
If the issue is still exists, please try to use the report links in Web Service URL and Report Manager URL of reporting services configuration manager tool, and check the error logs.

  • Error on the reports with drill-through links on SSRS 2012 SP2 -- Invalid URI: The Uri string is too long

Hi, We are migrating SSRS 2008 R2 reports to SSRS 2012 SP2. (PS. SSRS 2012 SP2 has been applied.) Everything went smooth expect some reports which were using reporting services. These reports have some drilin-through actions and was passing in a huge
xml parameter. I referred to some other posts in which there were also some similar issues like "The Uri string is too long."  but they're different. My reports can be opened and the error only occurred when accessing the drill-through actions.
As I know, Microsoft has provided the fix for the known issue "The Uri string is too long." in sp1 but it looks it can't cover this kind of situation since I have installed the SSRS SP 2. Is there any solution? In addition, there's no such
    issue on SSRS 2008 R2.
    Thanks,
    onizga

    Hi onizga,
According to your description that you are migrating SSRS 2008 R2 reports to SSRS 2012 SP2, after migration you got some error like “The Uri string is too long” which only occurred when accessing the drill-through actions, right?
Usually, the issue can be caused when you try to pass some parameters that cause the URL length to exceed 65,520 characters for a Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services (SSRS 2012), you cannot render the report, and you may receive the following error
    message:
The value of parameter 'param' is not valid. (rsInvalidParameter).Invalid URI: The Uri string is too long.
This is an known issue and already have the hotfix SQL Server 2012 Service Pack1 Cumulative Update 9 (CU9) as you know, you can try to reinstall this hotfix to fixed this issue:

  • SSRS 2012 (SP Integrated) report on SP 2013 PerformancePoint Dashboard: when too many filter items selected together report does not update anymore!

I am having a situation with SSRS 2012 (SP-integrated) report rendered on SP 2013 PerformancePoint Dashboard using linked PerformancePoint (PP) filters.
The report works fine as long as too many PP filter items are not selected at the same time. When gradually selecting more items from the filter, the report updates itself until more than a sepecific numer of filter items are selected - the report simply
does not update itself anymore. This "specific number of filter items", when hit, generates the following error in ULS:
An exception  occurred while rendering a Web control. The following diagnostic information might help to determine the cause of this problem:  System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed.

at Microsoft.PerformancePoint.Scorecards.ServerRendering.ReportViewControl.RenderReportViewControl(HtmlTextWriter writer, ReportView rv)  PerformancePoint Services error code 20700.
I already know that the cause of the issue is in the length of the query (perhapse RDL or MDX) that the browser is supposed to pass on to the instance of SSAS.
Some people had suggested a workaround that was suitable for older versions or non-integrated SSRS (see here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/cb6ede72-6ed1-4379-9d3c-847c11b75b32/report-manager-operation-cannot-run-due-to-current-state-of-the-object).
Knowing this, have already done the changes suggested (adding the lines suggested to SP's web.config for Reporting and the web.config of the site on which report is rendred) at no avail, just to make sure.
I have rednered the same report on the same dashboard using SSRS filters and there is no problem; it just works fine. This has to be a bug in PP that is causing this.
Has anyone had the same problem with SSRS 2012 (SP-integrated) report rendered on SP 2013 PP dashboard using PP filter? Any fixes or workarounds?
    thnx!

    Hello everybody.
I confirm the issue in Service Pack 1 Release 2.
Poor workaround is to remove the repeated infromation from the member keys (in SSAS they can be really long).
The issue seems to be specific to SSRS: Excel Services works well with the same filter.

    Hi Joshua.Arenz,
As per my understanding, you configured SSRS 2012 of SharePoint mode, when you click system setting in Central Admin, you got the error message.
According to the error message, the Reporting Services service application is not configured correctly. Please make sure you created service application correctly by following steps:
In SharePoint Central Administration, in the Application Management group, click Manage Service Applications.
In the SharePoint toolbar, click the New button.
In the New menu, click SQL Server Reporting Services Service Application.
In the Create SQL Server Reporting Services Service Application page, enter a name for the application.
In Application Pool section, create a new application pool for the application (recommended). Then select or create a managed account for the application pool.
In the Database Server, you can use the current server or choose a different SQL Server.
In Database Name the default value is ReportingService_<guid>, which is a unique database name. If you type a new value, type a unique value.
In Database Authentication, the default is Windows Authentication.
In the Web Application Association section, select the Web Application to be provisioned for access by the current Reporting Services Service Application.
    Click OK.
For more information about Creating a new Reporting Services Service Application, please refer to the following document:

  • SSRS 2008 r2 - the Report Manager won't load unless "/Reports" is added to the DNS entry in address bar

    Need some direction, please.
We are moving off  SSRS 2005 to a new server with SSRS 2008R2. The old installation (2005) a DNS entry was created "reports" with the ip address and port number simple. In the Configuration manager the Report Manager Virtual Directory
is "Reports". Website is Default web site. Typing "reports" into the address bar opens up report manager. When this is done the address shows as reports/reports/pages/folder etc.
The new installation is configured the same(?). DNS entry "reports2" with new ip address and port number. In the Configuration manager the Report manager URL virtual directory is "Reports" URLs: =
http://servername:port/Reports. The issue is when typing "Reports2" into the address bar the report manager won't open unless "reports" is added to the dns name i.e. http://reports2/reports
    is entered.
This thread took me to more like kind thread than my searches. Went into IIS in the default web site I added an htm file with a redirect. Then started it, it works. Maybe due to my inexperience but seems counter intuitive as I thought Reporting Services did
away with any reliance on IIS.

    Hi Urquhart,
According to your description, if you type "Reports2" in the browser, then you want to redirect to the report manager homepage in SSRS 2008 R2, right?
In Reporting Services 2008 R2, it uses HTTP.SYS for HTTP access and it’s independent of Internet Information Server(IIS). The role for HTTP.sys in Reporting Services is that, HTTP.sys receive the user's request, and then send it to report server. Report
Server handle the request(e.g. authenticate the users), and then use HTTP.sys the send HTTP responses again. In a word, HTTP.sys is just a driver, which allow us to communicate the clients(browser) with Report Server without Microsoft Internet Information
    Server(IIS).
So, since HTTP.SYS doesn’t provide URL redirection function, we are not able to redirect "Reports2" to report manager homepage by default. If we want to use redirect function, we should add a .html file in IIS to redirect the user to the report
    manager.

  • SSRS user created on Report manager is different from ReportServer database userName

    Hi All,
It will be quite helpful if someone can advice:
I created reporting services user on SSRS report manager as MeahK1 which is network username he was given. He is created succesfully but when he tries to access live reports, he is not able to see them because he does not have any access. When checked in
ReportServer db, this user is created as MeahK instead of MeahK1.
I am trying to see user details from the below query:
    select  *
    FROM ReportServer.dbo.Catalog
    INNER JOIN
    ReportServer.dbo.Policies
    ON Catalog.PolicyID
    = Policies.PolicyID
    INNER JOIN
    ReportServer.dbo.PolicyUserRole
    ON Policies.PolicyID
    = PolicyUserRole.PolicyID
    INNER JOIN
    ReportServer.dbo.Users
    ON PolicyUserRole.UserID = Users.UserID
    where username like 'Meah%'
Do any one know what could be the problem as all other users apart from him are working fine and let's say if a user ID is Kh3R, then he also is user with same name in ReportServer db.
    Can this problem be fixed?
    Adnan

    Hi Adnan,
According to your description, you want to grant a user to access report manager, right?
In Reporting Service, after installing a new report server, only users who are members of the Local Administrators group have permissions to access report manager. If we want to grant permissions for other users to access report manager, we should add users
to an item-level role and system-level role. Once the user account is added to an item-level role or system-level role, it will be added on the dbo.Users table within the ReportServer database. In your scenario, please check if "MeahK1" has been
added to an item-level role and system-level role. For more information, please refer to this article:
Grant User Access to a Report Server (Report Manager) .

  • Problem between SSMS and Report ! Filter query not showing data or showing wrong data

    Hi all,
In short: I have a report with multiple values such as name of shop, postal code etc. The parameters have no default value and act as "like". If someone enters "krant" he'll get all the shop names that contain "krant" in their
    name etc.
Same goes for postal code, if someone enters 2550 he'll get all data for 2550. The problem although is that if a user start with postal code as parameters and leaves the shop name empty, the shop name is not shown in my report! The other way around it works,
when I enter shop name i'll get all shops + postal code in my report.
I know this is because POS name cannot be shown in report because it's left blank, but I want my MDX query to be able to give me the POS names even if I only enter postal code.
Can someone please please look at my query below? I need to add 4 more parameters this way later on too!

According to the error message, the issue is related to GDI+. Based on my research, it is a known issue that the GDI+ need to be updated on Windows Server 2008 R2. If we want to know what version of GDI+, we can do a file search for Gdiplus.dll.
To fix this issue, please install the hotfix for your Windows Server 2008 R2 from the following kb:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2495074
There following thread about the similar issue is for your reference:

  • "Software Usage Metrics initialize failed" error when open Report Manager, after moving ReportServer from SSRS 2008 to SSRS 2012 (Native Mode)

I've asked this question in SQL Server Upgrade forume, I'm asking here as well:
    Your help is highly appreciated!
After migrating ReportServer db from 2008 to 2012, when access Report Manager throughhttp://myserver:80/Reports, I got the error below:
ui!ReportManager_0-3!11d8!02/04/2013-15:19:12:: e ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed
    The process is below:
•I successfully installed SQL Server 2012 (64-bit) Enterprise as a Native Mode on a server who runs Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 (64-bit).
•I restored "ReportServer2008To2012" and "ReportServer2008To2012TempDB" in SSRS 2012 from the db files backed up in SQL 2008. In SSRS 2008, I have SSRS Model, ad-hoc reports based on model, and I also have canned reports built through BIDS
    report server project.
•I reconfigured both databases' Compatibility level to SQL Server 2012(110) from SQL Server 2008(100).
•I configured SSRS through Reporting Services Configuration Manager as below:
      > I chosen "Use built-in account:" as Service Account
    > In "Database" tab, I selected "Choose an existing report server database" and choose "ReportServer2008To2012" db, I used "Windows Authentication" (my login has the System Administrator priviledge). I got all 4 parts
success: Verifying database sku = Success; Generating rights scripts = Success; Applying connection rights = Success; Setting DSN = Success.
    > I went to "Scale-out Deployment" to check if the initializing succeed, I found nothing there.
Here are what I did from different approaches:
A •I went to "Encryption Keys" and restored the key I backed up from SSRS 2008, after retoring, I got two initialized instances: One is on my current server (SSRS 2012), the other one is from the old server (SSRS 2008).
I deleted the old one(SSRS 2008) through "Remove Server" action and kept the one on my current server(SSRS 2012).
After I restart SSRS service, and tried to connect Report Manager, I got "An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details."
I checked the log file, the error is actually "ERROR: Software Usage Metrics initialize failed"
B •I also tried to "Delete Encrypted Content" and did see the SSRS was initialized through checking it on "Scale-out Deployment", however when I tried to open Report Manager, I got the same error.
Anyone had the same issue? Any solution? Thanks in advance!

  • SSRS 2012 - Cannot access any of the sub page from Report Manager - Manage page menus.

    All:
It was working at one point of time, but suddenly when I tried to access any of the menus from Report Manage page, all the options (Data Source, Subscriptions, Processing Options, Cash Refresh Options, Report History, Snapshot Options, Security) will
redirect back to the root directory page.
Because of this problem, I cannot manage any of the options or subscriptions for any of my report on the server.
Does anybody know what could be the problem? Thank you very much for your help.
    Tina

    Hi Tina,
As per my understanding, I think this strange issue can be caused by the browser which running Report Manager and the page files may be corrupted which are related to manage properties in Report Manager.
As to the browser, if you use IE explorer to run Report Manager, I suggest that you can try to run it in compatibility mode. If you are using another browser, I recommend that you should use IE explorer to run Report Manager to check the issue again.
Another possibility is related to corrupted page files. If in this scenario, I suggest that you can try to copy the all Pages folder from another server which works well to replace the current one. By default, the Pages folder is located in the following
    folders:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportManager
Besides, if this issue still exists, you can go to Reporting Services Log Files to see if there are error messages. Then it may help us make further analysis.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,

  • SSRS 2012 Reports freeze after first run in IE 11

    Hello,
We have just recently upgraded/migrated from SSRS 2008R2 to SSRS 2012 sp2 (Windows 2012 R1).
We have found one report so far when using IE 11 that after the first run from the client side Internet Explorer freezes.  The report normally takes 4-5 seconds to run.  I have waited an hour and the report has not resolved.
The same report runs fine in Firefox or Chrome, even after multiple runs.  It also continues to run fine from our SSRS 2008R2 server from IE 11.
I have tried private browsing and it still only runs once and will not run again.  I have tried compatability mode and it will not run either.  I have also noted that it will crash our ERP system (java based) when it is running at the same time
in IE as when I run this report.  Other reports seem to work fine.
The report is simple, it is just a report of subscriptions from ReportServer.  There is some XML parsing in there though.  It is the only difference that I can see in all the other reports on the system.  Oh, the report runs fine from
Visual Studio 2012.  I have redeployed, and no luck yet.
    Here is my query
    WITH [EMAIL]([SubscriptionID], [EmailLine]) AS
     SELECT  I.[SubscriptionID],
             I1.rows.value('Value [1]', 'VARCHAR(MAX)') AS [EmailLine]
     FROM    (
--if the Subscription is an e-mail, get the XML fragment which contains the Email line
              SELECT  S.[SubscriptionID],
--add a "root" element to create well-formed XML to the "ExtensionSettings"
                      --(in case it's NULL)
                      CONVERT(XML, N'<Root>' + CONVERT(NVARCHAR(MAX), S.[ExtensionSettings]) + N'</Root>') AS [ExtensionSettings]
              FROM    ReportServer.dbo.[Subscriptions] S WITH (NOLOCK)
              WHERE   --only get e-mail subscriptions
                      S.[DeliveryExtension] = 'Report Server Email'
             ) I CROSS APPLY
--pull out elements in the "ParameterValues/ParameterValue" hierarchy
                 I.ExtensionSettings.nodes('/Root/ParameterValues/ParameterValue') AS I1(rows)
WHERE   --only get the Subject field
             --I1.rows.value('Name [1]', 'VARCHAR(100)') = 'Subject'
             I1.rows.value('Name [1]', 'VARCHAR(100)') IN ('TO', 'BCC','CC')
--get subscription data for all users
    SELECT   replace([EMAIL].[EmailLine], '@plu.edu','') email_line,
            --internally put-together description of subscription
    --        S.[Description],
--user-friendly message for what happened the last time the subscription ran
            --which may be "New Subscription"
            --report path and name
            C.[Path], C.[Name],
--start date and end date for schedule
            SC.[StartDate], SC.[EndDate],
            --when the subscription was modified
            S.[ModifiedDate]
    FROM    --actual subscriptions
ReportServer.dbo.[Subscriptions] S WITH (NOLOCK) LEFT OUTER JOIN
                --report details from Catalog
                ReportServer.dbo.[Catalog] C WITH (NOLOCK) ON
                    S.[Report_OID] = C.[ItemID] LEFT OUTER JOIN
                --Users (owner)
                ReportServer.dbo.[Users] [U1] WITH (NOLOCK) ON
                    S.[OwnerID] = [U1].[UserID] LEFT OUTER JOIN
                --Users (modified by)
                ReportServer.dbo.[Users] [U2] WITH (NOLOCK) ON
                    S.[ModifiedByID] = [U2].[UserID] LEFT OUTER JOIN
                --Subscription Schedules
                ReportServer.dbo.[ReportSchedule] RS WITH (NOLOCK) ON
                    S.[SubscriptionID] = RS.[SubscriptionID] LEFT OUTER JOIN
                --Schedules
                ReportServer.dbo.[Schedule] SC WITH (NOLOCK) ON
                    RS.[ScheduleID] = SC.[ScheduleID] LEFT OUTER JOIN
                --Subjects CTE from e-mail subscriptions
                [EMAIL] ON
                    S.[SubscriptionID] = [EMAIL].[SubscriptionID]
    WHERE EmailLine is not null
    and EmailLine like '%' + @Email + '%'
    and C.[Path] like '%' + @Path + '%'
    order by C.[Path]
The other observation that I have is that my CPU utilization goes up from 25% to over 50% when I kick this off.  So, it is definitely getting confused about something...
    Thank you for your feedback,
    Chris

    Brad,
I am not sure how to attach the rdl, so here it is inline.
The one thing that is strange is that my test SSRS 2012 SP2 server (Windows 2008R2) the report works.  However, their is a difference in the OS.  The production server is Windows 2012
The report works in Visual Studio, it works in Firefox, it works in Chrome.  Just not in SSRS 2012 SP2 on Windows 2012.
    Thanks
