Stack strip chart x axis
Hi y'all
is there a way, besides just putting one strip chart on top of another strip chart and have it aligned just right to hide the x axis and be on the same x scale as the others. For example: Schart #1 represents the pressure in the system, Schart #2 current , Schart #3 voltage.
Now I could have all these on one strip chart but while acquiring data it is hard to determine one line from another when you have 16 channels scrolling past on the same strip chart.
What I am looking for is something like the digital graphs where you have multiple views on the same x axis.
Is there a way to do this besides stacking strip charts on top of one another?
Are there any proposed changes coming that would include this?
Thanks
As far as I know there is no possiblity to obtain your goal other than stacking more charts one on top of each other. The digital graph is lot more simple as digital signals can have only 0 or 1 value, so it is possible to plot them on the same graph with some y-offset without losing the real meaning of the signal itself. With analog signals this is considerably more complex, as each of them must reference to an analog scale.
Alternative ways to address your situation are to use the secondary Y-axis to hold some of the plots or to use the legend to permit hiding/showing individual plots to make easy to the user to read the chart.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

Stacked bar chart x axis crunching up
Post Author: Pranab
CA Forum: Xcelsius and Live Office
I have purchased Crystal Xcelsius Workgroup 4.5. I have created a dashboard in which I have used webservices call to get data from database.
One of the three charts of my dashboard is a stacked bar chart. Now my problem is, when the webservice gets data and refresh the chart, the x-axis of it becomes squeezed and the main chart becomes very small. It becomes so in runtime. However in design mode i didnt notice such behavior.
But same flash file s showing fine when I am using it somewhere else.
I am facing big trouble, as I tried to search in web about this problem, but couldnt find such case.Post Author: amr_foci

Hi Guys,
I'm currently using Apex 4.0.2.00.06 with anychart 5.1.3.
I have added a chart to the page but it is not pulling back all the values on the x-axis.....i have attempted to increase the width of the chart and enable scrolling to no avail....any ideas?

Crystal 11 Stacked Area Chart Data Start Point X-Axis
I am trying to create a Stacked area chart and by default there is space between the y-axis and the first data point on the x-axis. Is there any way to eliminate this space so that the first data point appears directly on the y-axis?
I found the answer to my question. Uncheck the box "Value Axis Crosses Between Groups" in the "Group (X) Axis Settings" dialog box.

Hi,
I'm just evaluating the full version of Crystal Reports 2008 having had some frustrations with the design restrictions in the basic version that ships with Visual Studio 2008. Particularly important to me is the design features for charting data. A lot of the charts I need to build have daily data points and the dates for these data points are represented as labels on the X axis. My problem has been that when you try and build a report with several months or more worth of data points the X axis is getting way too crowded even to the extent of being unreadable with overlapping labels. I've noticed in the full version that there is a date axis chart type whereby you can alter the scale of the X axis e.g. to only show a date at a frequency once per month or greater resulting in the X axis being readable. This seems to work great for line charts etc, however one of the charts I need is a stacked area chart and unfortunately I can find no options / chart types that allow me to scale the dates on the X axis. I've seen there is a date axis chart for area charts, but there is no option of having this chart type as stacked. I know you can also skip data labels in X axis group options, but the max I can skip is 2 and so that doesn't really help me either.
Is there any way of achieving a stacked area chart with a scaled date axis in Crystal Reports 2008? If not it seems to me that the lack of this feature is a real omission from the product. Even Excel charts can handle this type of chart and I would imagine Crystal Reports charts should be more advanced in its charting capabilities.
Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.
Kind Regards,
MarkI have run in to the same problem. I work for a systems integration company and I purchased this software because I have a lot of crystal reports and .NET experience but I have very minimal crystal chart experience. I need to use the charting to display data over time collections. I need to show all data points collected but for some series that I deal with I need to be able to scale the x-axis labels to something that is legible. There is an aftermarket package(CRReports3.5) for $500 more dollars that would enable me to control this but it seems like alot more money for a small piece of functionality that should already be built in. I have Crystal Reports 2008 and am working with visual studio 2008 can someone please tell me is there ANY WAY to achieve this functionality without purchasing additional software? Otherwise this software purchase was worthless for my current project.

Y axis max ignored for horizontal stacked bar chart (SVG)
G'day,
I'm using the standard SVG horizontal stacked bar chart (multi-series). I have set the Y axis maximum value but it is ignored - bars are plotted to their maximum height.
I've had no such problem with vertical stacked bar charts.
We're running v2.2.0.00.32.
Is this a known bug?
Regards,
Chris.I don't understand why you are soying it is not possible.
Actually I think it is and quite easily but maybe i missunderstand the question.
But anyway, here is what I would do:
In the spreadsheet, you can calculate the percentage of each status per project:
Completed Pending Partially completed Not Started
Project 1 78.10% 6.46% 10.51% 4.93%
Project 2 51.01% 2.62% 39.21% 7.15%
And then select these data for the stacked bar chart. Here you get the graph you are looking for.

Help Creating Dynamic Stacked Column Chart with Multiple Criteria
Hi all. Im new here and hoping you can help. I have a dashboard Im trying to rebuild from scratch (our computer had a meltdown and we lost all our files). I did not build the dashboard initially so Im trying to recreate it from the flash file we were able to recover. I have come across a chart that I just cannot figure out how to do. I can figure out how to write an array in the Excel sheet that pulls the data into a table the way I need it to be but found out after I wrote that that Xcelcius doesn't support arrays so all my data disappears when I go into preview mode (which is especially frustrating since I can see the chart working fine in design mode). Anyway this is what the data table looks like
Month Year Company Positive # Negative # Neutral # Positive % Negative % Neutral %
October 2011 CompanyA 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
October 2011 CompanyB 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
October 2011 CompanyC 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
October 2011 CompanyD 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
November 2011 CompanyA 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
November 2011 CompanyB 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
November 2011 CompanyC 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
November 2011 CompanyD 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
December 2011 CompanyA 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
December 2011 CompanyB 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
December 2011 CompanyC 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
December 2011 CompanyD 1234 1234 1234 10 10 10
The original chart was built so that you would choose the month from a combo box and then the company names would show up along the X axis with their % amounts shown in the stacked column. I know how to make a combo box work and I know how to make a stacked column chart work with static data. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it to work so that when you choose the month from the combo box it filters the data. I've tried filtered rows but I'm just missing some information that makes it work and I can't figure out what that information is. It has to be able to get the month/year combo from the combo box and then go to the table, filter it by month and year and then create a multi-row table of data with just the company and the percent values. Any help would be greatly appreciated!Which connection you are using?
IF quite difficult if you are working under static data. -
Stacked bar chart with percentage in Xcelsius
Hi,
I want to create a stacked bar chart(Horizontal) for the following data
Project 1 --- > 2140, 177, 288, 135
Project 2 ---> 856, 44, 658, 120
For following status respectively
Completed, Pending ,Partially completed, Not Started
Project 1 and Project 2 will be on Y axis.
I want this data to be divided in percentage.
as shown below
Project 1 |___135_____|___177_____|______2140_______|
Project 2 | __44__|___120_____|________856__________|
0 20 40 ........ 100
How to achieve this in xcelsius?I don't understand why you are soying it is not possible.

Stacked bar chart with negative values
Hi,
trying to create a stacked bar chart I only get a grey picture. Reason: my data series provides positive and negative values.
Can anyone tell me a trick how to fix this problem?User614143,
try to add the minumm negative value (but positive) to the parameter for the axis.
e.g. show value+3000 (assuming -3000 is the minimum value)
If you don't have a limitation for the negative values, it doesn't work. (or try to calculate first the most negative value in a before header process)
hope this helps.

Stacked bar chart with single group

CA Forum: Charts and Graphs
Dear all, I have a question about stacked bar chart with one group value(normally more than one group value is ok) ex. YYYYMM PRODUCT AMT -
200601 ABC 1000 200602 ABC 300 200603 ABC 500 ..... the data collection is as above, then chart display: x-axis as YYYYMM,y-axis as PRODUCT... but why this case the bar chart color not the same for each YYYYMM? and legend not display one PRODUCT as ABC only? the bar chart display like this: http://tkfiles.storage.live.com/y1po30C7CH6eW9phoLAXH89MBGwFLYdEZ3kOMQXUQzDzwM-VNnffibEwqPI8TIUNBm1f7uKTjnkaOI ps. crystal report version is 8.5ReginaThanks, Jeff. I did try this but for whatever reason it doesn't make a difference. I think it is because if there's no data for a given series for a certain week, there is no entry in the data set that is sent to AnyChart.
I was able to get around the issue by "filling in" the missing weeks from each data series. To generate the list of "Week Of" dates for a given date range, I used this code:
select
trunc (each_day) as week_of,
0 as effort
from (
select
(to_date(:p920_start_date,:app_date_format) + 2 - to_char(to_date(:p920_start_date,:app_date_format),'D') - 1) + level each_day
from dual
connect by level <= to_date(:p920_end_date,:app_date_format) - to_date(:p920_start_date,:app_date_format) + 1
where
to_char (each_day, 'D') = '2'This creates an effort entry of 0 for each week within the date range; I use the Monday date of a week as the "Week Of" date. I then union this with my actual data and summarize by week and viola, I get the weeks in order. This also has the benefit of showing a week for which there are no entries in any of the three series.
Thanks for taking a look at this.

Stacked Bar Chart with Multiple Series Sort Question
Hi,
Apex version 4.1.1
I have a stacked bar chart with three separate series, one showing customer effort, another showing project effort and the third showing other effort, summarized by calendar week. The x-axis of the chart is the calendar "week of" date, and the y-axis has a bar for each of the three series. Not every type of effort occurs every week.
When AnyChart renders the chart, the order of entries on the x-axis seems to be dependent both on which series are present in a given week as well as the "week of" date. Weeks with all three series sort in order by calendar date, followed by weeks where just the 2nd & 3rd series are present, followed by weeks where just the 3rd series is present. See this [url http://tinypic.com/r/b9zdt/6] picture of the chart noting the "week of" dates. Note that the months go Sep-Oct-Nov-Aug-Oct.
Is there a way to force AnyChart to sort the x-axis in chronological order regardless of whether there is data for all three series for a given week? I have looked through the AnyChart XML reference but cannot find a way to do this.
Incidentally, I can solve the sorting problem by combining all three series into a single query:
select
null as link,
week_of as label,
sum(customer_effort) as "Customer Effort",
sum(project_effort) as "Project Effort",
sum(other_effort) as "Training, Admin and Other Effort"
from ...But if I do this, I cannot figure out how to have each bar on a given week link to a different detail page, e.g., if I click on a bar representing customer effort I want to link to one page, but if I click on a bar representing project effort, I want to link to a different page. I have had a look at the [url http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=36648:59:1570983160946101::NO:::] chart examples posted on apex.oracle.com, but cannot figure out how to apply to multiple series in a single query.
Thanks,

Problems with stacked bar chart in Java SDK and CRDesigner
Hi @ll,
I have an issue with the rendering of stacked bar charts through the Java SDK and the CRDesigner. unfortunately, my research in this forum and with the help of aunt google didn't lead to success.
These are my problems:
I have a stacked bar chart which, when datasets/stacks increase in number per bar, displays errors:
1.) the single stacks of the bar merge together randomly and form bigger stacks with the sum of the singles. the information of single stacks gets lost in the bar.
2.) the total sum of all singles is bigger than the maximum value on the y-axis displays. thus, the scaling is wrong.
1.) appears in the CRDesigner as well as in the Java SDK
2.) only occurs in the Java SDK
Is there any trick to turn the random merging of slices off?
Is the false scaling a known issue and is there a bugfix/workaround?
many thanks for all advice
Tomhi folks,
i found the answer to the above problems:
when you specify the recordfields that are responsible for the change to the next stack or bar, the 'stack' fields have to be unique.
in my case i evaluated durations in msec (as stacks) from different devices (as bars). randomly i had the same durations for one device. what happens is, that CR does not notice a change and accumulates to the first stack with the same duration.
surprisingly this also seems to derange the axis scaling. fix the problem by simply using an overall unique recordfield like rownum or a formula that forms the current timestamp to text as identifier for the stacking.
cheers

Problem with Stacked area chart
Hi all,
I'm working on delivery data according to month having input(combo) as the year. I'm trying to display the data in percentages in Stacked area chart having series as ontime delivery, 1 week late, 2 weeks late,........5 weeks late and category labels as months. The problem is when I take the Preview of data I get to see the data for ontime, 1 week , 2 week as it should be but when I hover the mouse over the 2 weeks data area mouse over values shows 5 weeks data(0 %) where as in reality the colored area belongs to 2 weeks data. I tried to delete 5 weeks series data and now it shows as 4 weeks data.
What could be the problem ?
Thanks>

Thanks for the answer regarding dates. I'm still awaiting an answer on the following part of my question:
"My problem is that I am trying to configure a stacked area chart to show various related financial figures over the period of a year or more. My problem with a regular stacked area chart is that because of the large number of data points (daily) the X axis becomes far too chaotic with the large number of labels. The obvious option seems to be to use the "Show time scale" option in axis settings, however when you chose this option the "Date axis area" chart type is automatically chosen and this chart type doesn't seem to allow stacking. Can anybody help?"
Thanks in advance for your help.
Kind Regards,
Mark
