Staging Area location

Hello,
I am having trouble with the staging area on my enterprise manager 12c server. When i try to download an assembly it downloads to the default staging location which is /u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/omshome_1/gc_inst/em/EMGC_OMS1/sysman//stage.
Now when i try to appy the download so it gets moved to the 'software library upload file locations' which is at /u02/app/oracle/oms_shared/ i get the following error in the job:
Applying update of Oracle Virtual Templates and Oracle Virtual Assemblies type with entity ID : 99AED19240CD3922650F2A9255726868 and description : Database assembly for 11.2.0.3.0 Single Instance database with PSU1 on Linux 64-bit using filesystem based storage
Apply failed: Exception: This operation requires atleast 3606937479 bytes in staging area (/u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/omshome_1/gc_inst/em/EMGC_OMS1/sysman//stage).
This, of course, is true because there isn't enough freespace in /u01/app/oracle/product/12.1.0/omshome_1/gc_inst/em/EMGC_OMS1/sysman//stage.
What i would like to do is to move the staging area to a location on /u02 where there is enough freespace but for the life of me i cannot find where to change this. Does anybody know how to do this?

Hi Bert,
You can add an additional Software Library location in Setup, Provisioning and Patching, Software Library. Create on OS an new directory and the correct protection. Use Add in the EM-console to add this new location.

Fair point. You cannot yet compress the database with FROM ACTIVE DATABASE. So the staging area would be better if that is your concern. But in any event RMAN is the way to go as mseberg stated. Using a network mount is pretty much the same as FROM ACTIVE DATABASE, it is all going over the network if you are just going to copy the files. But putting the compressed RMAN backup into the network mount area so that you can access it at the standby site will do both for you then :^)
I just find the FROM ACTIVE DATABASE the easiest (I'm lazy) and people have been berating us about having to have lots of extra disk space in both places.

Staging area creation problem

We have got media DVDs for R12.1.1 for Linux X86 from Oracle. We copied in the server one by one using cp command.
Ans now when we are starting staging creation using these copied DVD's from server, it's giving
Invalid Disk is inserted.
Please insert DVD labeled Oracle Applications Rapid Install - of Rdbms Disk 1
We removed STARTCD part initially which was staged properly using OS rm command.but when it was asking for second DVD it failed due to unavailability of 2nd DVD path
We copied all DVD's into /do1/R1211dump folder
Please advice on how to create staging area

Also this is being executed by root user .
And when using oracle user, even though DVD dump folder is owned by oracle user

Staging area for Management Agent files...?

Sorry for another question so quickly - I am reading the documentation first!
Management agents upload files to the OMS server, and these are parsed and loaded as data into the MR database, right?
Where is the staging area for these files (upload from all the management agents)? Is it possible to change it? From what I can gather it's
https://oms_server:1159/em/upload - but where is this in the real world? I've searched the OMS $ORACLE_HOME, but can't find any uploaded files
The reason for these questions is because we have a requirement to load these files to a shared area so that both our OMSes can access them - has anyone come across a configuration like this before? Does it work?

The upload area on the OMS would normally be <OMS_HOME>/sysman/recv.
You still might find no data files over here, as they may be uploaded to the OMS on that moment.
Yes, making this directory a shared location ,will work when running multiple OMS.

It seems that I can't install Oracle 9.2.0.1 under Windows 2000 Pro. On the File Locations dialog where you specify Source... and Destination... I keep getting "There was a problem in accessing the staging area. Please make sure the specified values for 'Source' and 'Destination' are valid". Well, everything is valid. I have followed the Oracle installation instructions exactly as specified. Anyone else run into this kind of problem?

Oracle 8i install on Win ME - invalid staging area?

I'm having trouble installing 8i Personal Edition on Win ME
(Athlon 1.3, 768 ram, plenty of disk space). I get the
error "Invalid staging area. There are no top level components
for Windows 95 available for install from this staging area." on
the "File Locations" step of the pre-install process. Anyone
know what this may be caused by?

Edit your win.ini file
In the [Compatibility 95] section add the following:
Jrew=0x00080000
Save the file and reboot your machine..
Now you will be able to install Personal 8i for windows 98 on

Creating Staging Area

Hi all,
I am trying to create staging area in R12, when i ran the perl script(adautostg.pl) it was going fine, but when it has asked me to insert Database Disk 2 it says, invalid DVD, i tried from the second set of media pack but same problem arised.
So now im copying all the zip files to local HDD so that i can unzip....this is the second method im following...
please give any suggestion on this...thread.....

First off your question relates to e-Business Suite not Database so you are in the wrong forum. In the future please post the appropriate location where your question will be on-topic.
Second ... there are two possibilities. First that you have a corrupt DVD and the second that you are inserting the wrong Disk2.

Material staging areas
This is an organizational unit that is assigned to the warehouse number. It is used to organize the goods flow in the warehouse
The use of the material staging areas is that , they are used for interim storage of goods in the warehouse
Staging areas can be defined for other purposes like goods receipt and goods issues

I am new to PSE 12 and am trying to import my photos from folders on my desktop which I have organized by the categories I had in my previous program (Creative Memories). Many of my photos are located in multiple folders, i.e. one photo could be in "Family," Vacations" and "Birthdays." When I try to import the contents of each folder on my desktop I am often getting the message that many of my photos were not imported as they are already in my catalog. Is there a way that I can import any one photo multiple times so that it ends up in all the folders I want it to be in? I know I can locate the photo in PSE and copy it to a different folder(s), but there are so many not being imported that this would be a huge task!

By design, the organizer (and any other database management systems) is there to prevent you from duplicating your media files. The catalog management allows you to have the same image in different categories or albums. Duplication in different folders is to be absolutely avoided.
The same image file can have multiple tags like 'family', 'vacations', 'birthdays' and be present in three different albums with the same names. On obvious advantage is less disk space. Another one with your present folder system is that if you edit one of your duplicates, the other ones are unchanged.
I don't see an easy way to make your present folder structure simplified for the organizer ...

You can move apps around in iOS 7 the same as iOS 6. Press an app icon until you see it wiggle; then drag it to where ever you want it to be. Drag it onto another app to create a folder with the two apps. Tap the Home button to stop the wiggle.

As it is, I only have 50gb left on my imac, and the aperture library is 150gb. Also, I have over 10k images in both libraries combined and there are tons of duplicates that need to be sorted, and hopefully not messed up because I've organized most of them.
So in short, I need to know how to do the following:
-select photos in finder in aperture/iphoto libraries
-move aperture library to live on external drive
-import iphoto library into aperture library
-eliminate dups but maintain organization
-moving forward i need a better workflow so that I import images from camera, and can organize right away into albums rather than creating projects by default and then creating albums so essentially the photos are in 2 different places, even tho they are referenced
-live happily ever after

If you're using apps like iPhoto or Aperture then they replace the Finder for managing your photos. The point is that you use the (many) options available via these apps for the things you want and need to do with the Photos.
So, simply, you don't select the photos in the Finder. I'll append the supported ways to do this - which are faster and will yield the current version of your Photos - to the end of this post.

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit Aperture
2. Copy the Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching Aperture. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
Referenced - relocate your Masters first.
These issues are covered in the Manual and on this forum hundreds of times.

You can't. Every photo is in a Project. They’re the basic building blocks of the Library.
You might want to spend a little time with the manual or the video tutorials. I'm not sure you've grasped the app you've purchased.
The following is written for iPhoto, but about 97% works for Aperture too.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto/ APerture: You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics. This is what you use to attach your shot to your GMail
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps. If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto/ Aperture.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
If you want to access the files with iPhoto/ Aperture not running:
For users of 10.6 and later: You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the Library from your Services Menu.
Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.

How do I get the word "Share" on mhy pages site whre all the settings are located across. I use to have it but it is gone on my macbook.

The "Share" button on the toolbar was for sharing documents via iWork.com (beta). That service was shut down last year so the button wouldn't do anything now. It seems that the Pages team removed it in one of the updates.

Oracle 8.1.5 Invalid Staging Area Error

I get an error message: Invalid staging area. There is no top level components for Windows NT available for installing
from this staging area. I installed this version successfully running win98, but i get this error with XP. I tried renaming the symcjit.dll
as suggested in some of the earlier posting with no success. Any help is appreciated.

copy disk to hardrive in a temporary directory. go to properties for setup.exe (right click on file used to install oracle). Select the compatiblity tab. make sure the check box "run this program in compatibility mode" is checked. In combo box select windows 98.

Use of bookmarks of resources which are located behind a S-to-S VPN

Hi there,
I was wondering if i can create (a) bookmark(s) of resources which are located behind a particular Site-to-Site VPN?
We are using a Cisco ASA 5510 (9.0.2) with SSL VPN configured. The tunnel is up but when i try the bookmark, i get the error "server unavailable".
Can someone put my in the right direction? I'm rather new at this stuff...

My apologies for my late response.
I'm using a clientless SSL VPN connection. I'm not using any DNS servers, just IP addresses for now to get this up and running.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by tunneling everything in this context.

Edit: When i try to ping the destination from the Cisco ASA, the traffic is routed to internet. The subnet 192.168.177.0/24 belongs to the remote site.
