Standard code modification with enhacement points..

hi,
i need to modify a couple of my standard programs. I have been suggested to follow this approach.
first get the acces key and go to change mode. then where u want to insert ur code, click on the insert button and get the insert block. Then here  I need to have an implicit point !! how do i create that ? where do i associate these enh points to an enhancement spot ??
also, the advantage stated is that tomorrow if i dont need this modifications, i can just simply switch off the enhancement spot ?? or point ?? i am not sure ? any details on that ?
another question is what happens when tomorrow sap changes this standard program. will my enhancement point/spot remian intact ?? what do i do to reapply my changed code as enh points ??
can anyone please throw some more light on all these ??
thks

[Enhancement Framework>> |http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/x/cwXEB]
"another question is what happens when tomorrow sap changes this standard program"
SAP would use some logic, which will make sure they are not spoiling the enhancement points...
rettkomv = xkomv.
perform (^*&*&&*) using xkomv from saplv61a if found. "<< I can only remember this for now..
xkomv = rettkomv.

  • Problem in SAP standard code modification for FB03

    Hi Experts,
I am adding 4custom fields in FB03 tcode by doing a SAP standard code modification in SE51.
The program name is SAPMF05L and screen no. is 302(In some SAP verion, it is 304). This is the screen for document line item of an invoice.
    My problem is:
When I add the fields in the screen, in which module will I put logic in the PBO and PAI as I am unable to figure out the German comments and the program structuring.
Also, if anybody can tell me what to write as I am little bit confused about the logic of populating my fields with the values.
FB03 is a display transaction so I have to keep my custom screen fields disabled.
    Regards,
    Sangeeta.

    Hi Sangeeta,
For enhancing the screen of this Tcode, first of all search is there any Screen enhancement is provided by SAP or not and in case if it is provided then use that only.

  • How to  find an enhacement point in a standard FM.

    Hi All,
I have to find an enhacement point in a standard FM.Please guide me on how to do this?
Also what all things should i take care of while adding code at the enhancement spot as I
know sometimes a dump comes in such scenarios.
    Please advice,
    Saket.

    Hi Saket,
Do you want to find an Enhancement Point or an Implicit Enhancement Point?
If you want to find an Enhancement Point, then the string ENHANCEMENT-POINT. Enhacement Points are marked as ENHANCEMENT-POINT <enhancement Point> SPOTS <enhancement spots> STATIC. or ENHANCEMENT-POINT <enhancement Point> SPOTS <enhancement spots>.
If you want to find an Implicit Enhancement Point, then press SHIFT + F4 and then Edit -> Enhancement Operations -> Show Implicit Enhancement Options. This will show you the Implicit Enhancement Points in yellow color (if you are using the Old Front-End-Editor).
You might get dumps for a number of reasons. In that case go to the dump analysis and sort the problem. Moreover you might even get Short Dump while creating implementations of Implicit Enhancement. This generally occurs because of certain missing patches/upadtes. In such a situation ask the BASIS or admin team to upload all the necessary patches or updates.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Abhisek.

  • Enhancements points in standard code

    hello!
Can I use enhancements points in standard code? How do it?
    Thanks!!

Yes, you can. That is really the whole point,  as you would not need enhancement points in a custom program.
In order to leverage the Enhancement Framework, you should familarize yourself with the documentation and then go from there.

    Hi Sandra,
when I try to create an enhancement point by pressing enhance (shift-f4) going in edit->Enhancment operations->Create it gives me a message 'In this mode you can create implementations only'. (At this point my cursor in the code is at the point I want to make it happen)
So the Q is how do I get the E.point in the code at the point I desire.

    Hi
    Explicit Enhancement Options
There are two types of explicit enhancement options: Source code enhancements with source code plug-ins and BAdIs:
    •        Explicit enhancement options of the source code enhancement type allow you to insert source code plug-ins. These are lines of code that are executed if the source code enhancement option is inserted in the code with the Enhancement Point command. Source code enhancement options with the Enhancement Section command behave the same, except that the source code plug-in replaces the section in the original code. Therefore, you are not only able to enhance the original code, but can also flag specific code sections (as enhancement sections) so that other developers can replace these sections with other code without making modifications.
    •        Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) are “hangers” for object plug-ins. A BAdI definition comprises an interface with methods. BAdIs are enhanced by classes that implement the BAdI interface. If you instantiate a BAdI and then call its methods, you can, among other things, specify which method implementations are to be carried out on the basis of filter values. In other words, a BAdI method call is a dynamic method call with a specified interface, for which it is not determined until runtime which method implementations are to take place.
In the case of source code enhancements, the definition and call coincide. You define BAdIs once in the BAdI Builder and can then call them at different points in the various compilation units.
    Implicit Enhancement Options
Implicit enhancement options are fixed points in compilation units – that is, points that remain intact even if the code is changed. This is important for the following reason: If the location of an enhancement is moved, you have to check manually after an upgrade whether the enhancement is still at the correct point and replace it if necessary. The following are implicit enhancement options at which enhancements can always be inserted:
    •        You can always insert source code plug-ins before the first and the after the last line of includes, methods, reports, and function modules.
    •        You can always add further optional parameters to function modules.
    •        For global classes, there are different permanent, implicit options for enhancements: You can insert additional attributes or methods, and you can add optional parameters to existing methods
    Customer-Specific Modification and Enhancement Possibilities
    Use
The following documentation provides an overview of the customer-specific modification and enhancement possibilities in the IS-H System. Note that to implement enhancements, you require ABAP programming knowledge.
    Features
The IS-H system provides the following technical possibilities for customer-specific modifications and enhancements
    Business Add-Ins (BAdIs)
If default code (standard procedure defined by SAP) exists for the BAdI, please note it will be overwritten when you implement the BAdI. You can, if required, re-use the default code in your implementation.
As of SAP NetWeaver 2004, the enhancement concept of the ABAP Workbench (Enhancement Framework) is available for BAdIs. Note that SAP Patient Management contains BAdIs that use the Enhancement Framework as well as the classic BAdIs.
    Customer Exits (transaction SMOD)
If SAP delivers sample code for the customer exit, you can access it when implementing the exit by choosing Goto ® Sample Code. You can re-use the sample code using Copy&Paste
User Exits from the IS-H Implementation Guide: Basic Settings ® Configuration/Systems/Events ® Display SAP User Exits.
To implement the IS-H user exits, copy the function module delivered by SAP into a customer-specific function group. The name of the function module delivered by SAP is specified in the table you call in the IS-H Implementation Guide by choosing the path specified to the left here.
Once you’ve copied the source code, you can modify this copy to meet your needs. Note that you must not modify the interface of your own function module.
Now enter the name you’ve chosen for the function module in the customer table. You access this table by choosing Basic Settings ® Configuration/Systems/Events ® Configure Customer User Exits.
If it is helpful rewards points.

  • Code 'Generation' with DRY (don't repeat yourself)??

Hello I am new to the forum so please be kind,
I have recently gotten an internship with one of the offices with my University and am working a project (for a while now). I spend most of the day just getting all the classes assembled to be used (often a two day process) and what I would like to do is pass in a few parameters then have it generate the majority of the standard code that takes so much time to type out.
What I am referring to is Consructors/ Setters/ Getters and toString.
    Parameters:
    Class name
    int first 5
double secondMost of this stuff is pretty standard, but I figured there was a template or something I could build to do much of this for me. Unfoturnaly the University teaches C++, so learning Java on my own is somewhat difficult at times.
Oh. I had found a wikipedia page about a design method called DRY, basically it pointed out that I could do just what I am wanting to do, but unfortunately I cannot seem to find an example or any detailed information about this method.
This is what I have rolling around in my head at the moment:
The use a bunch of strings and printf("%s, args) ...to build this entire page, then go in and enter the things that I couldn't generate.
I could see this working, but I had felt this would go against code resuability because when the class/things I would generate would change, I would have to do some serious changes to this to get it working again. (Maybe that is the point).
I would greatly appreciate some guidance on this, or pointed to more information.
    Thanks

First step is recognizing a pattern.
Second step, experience wise, is learning to recognize the difference between something that should be generated and something that shouldn't.
    Third step is implementation.
Code generation should only be used if it can be insured that it eases the task now and in addition does not complicate the task in the future. That must include the possibility that the generation part will be abandoned so the generated code itself must be in such a state that it can be maintained.
Once you have a pattern then you must choose a way to represent the pattern as a 'source'. Sources can one or more of the following: text, xml, sql scripts, sql databases, existing source files, existing code bases, design document, pdf files. Anything that you can extract a definition from will work.
An example text file relevant to your task might look like this.
          Class: XxxMyclas
          Attribute: Count int
Attribute: Name String. From that you create a standard compiler type idiom
    1. Parse (read file and collect data)
    2. Syntax (validate collected data, which might also be part of 1)
    3. Generate (use data to generate new source)
Each phase can embodied certain complications (can not must). Some examples.
    1. Parse - provide an xml to define data types.
    2. Generate - provide a template file used to generate the code, define where the output goes, insure existing files not overwritten, etc.
Your description sounds like a one shot - in that you will not be generating every everytime but rather will generate it once and then modify it.
Oh. I had found a wikipedia page about a design method called DRY, basically it pointed out that I could do just what I am wanting to do, but unfortunately I cannot seem to find an example or any detailed information about this method.
The only general books I have found on the subject is one directed at Perl (Perl Munging) which is sort of related and one for .Net (or maybe java) but which is directed at a proprietary commercial product.
Code generation has its best usage if you can recognize a pattern and then implement it such that manual modifications are not needed. This however is tempered by the requirement that I first mentioned that the generated code must be maintainable by itself.

    ENHANCEMENT-POINT
ENHANCEMENT-POINT can either be static (for example, additional data declaration) or dynamic (for example, additional coding).

Defines a position in an ABAP program as an enhancement option, at which one or more source code plug-ins can be inserted.
    Syntax
    ENHANCEMENT-POINT enh_id SPOTS spot1 spot2 ...
                      [STATIC]
                      [INCLUDE BOUND].
    Extras:
    1. ... STATIC
    2. ... INCLUDE BOUND
    Effect
: This statement defines an explicit enhancement option at the current position in the program at which a source code enhancement can be made. In program generation, the source code plug-ins of the assigned enhancement implementation that are available in the current system and have a switch in the status stand-by or on, are inserted at this position.
If the addition STATIC is not specified, the source code enhancement is dynamic. This means that in program execution, only those source code plug-ins are executed whose switch has the status on. If a source code plug-in does not have a switch assigned to it, it is handled in the same way as a plug-in with a switch in the status on.
With enh_id, an ID must be specified directly for the enhancement option, which is unique in the current compilation unit without the addition INCLUDE BOUND, and with this addition, is unique in current Include program. At least one enhancement spot must be assigned to the enhancement option using the specification simple enhancement spots spot1, spot2, and so on.
Within enhancements, one or more source code plug-ins can be created for one enhancement option. A source code plug-in is created by the assignment of an enhancement implementation in the Enhancement Builder. This automatically generates an empty source code plug-in with a unique ID, which is displayed underneath ENHANCEMENT-POINT in the Editor, where the actual enhancement can be implemented between ENHANCEMENT and ENDENHANCEMENT.
A source code plug-in is assigned to only one enhancement option. Multiple source code plug-ins of one enhancement implementation and the source code plug-ins of multiple enhancement implementations can be assigned to one enhancement point.
    Notes
: In the terminology of the enhancement concept, the statement ENHANCEMENT-POINT includes both the enhancement spot element definition and the enhancement spot invocation of the enhancement option.
The statement ENHANCEMENT-POINT can either be entered directly or created by choosing Edit ? Enhancement operations ? Create enhancement in the Enhancement Builder. After the program has been saved or created using Edit ? Enhancement operations ? Create enhancement, the statement can only be deleted by choosing Edit ? Enhancement operations ? Delete enhancement.
In addition to the enhancement options explicitly specified by ENHANCEMENT-POINT, ABAP programs also contain implicit enhancement points, which can also be enhanced using source code plug-ins.
    Addition 1
    ... STATIC
    Effect
: The addition STATIC is used to define a static source code enhancement. In a static source code enhancement, all incorporated source code plug-ins are taken into account when the program is executed, including those whose switch is in the status stand-by.
    Note
: The STATIC addition is intended for the enhancement of data declarations, while the statement ENHANCEMENT-POINT without the STATIC addition is designed for the enhancement of executable coding. When the statement is executed using Enhancements ? Create enhancement, the addition is set according to this selection.
    Addition 2
    ... INCLUDE BOUND
    Effect
: This addition can be entered in Include programs. It links the source code enhancement to the current Include program. Each program that incorporates an Include program only includes the source code enhancements that are defined with this addition. Source code enhancements created using the INCLUDE BOUND addition have their own namespace in each Include program. This ensures that if several Include programs are integrated into one compilation unit, no namespace conflicts arise, either between Include programs, or with the source code enhancements of the compilation unit.
Without the addition INCLUDE BOUND, a source code enhancement is assigned to only one compilation unit. If the statement ENHANCEMENT-POINT is executed in an Include program without this addition, a compilation unit must be assigned to it in the Enhancement Builder.
    Note
: In an Include program, Include-bound and non-Include-bound source code enhancements can not be defined at the same time. This also applies if an Include program incorporates other Include programs.
Enhancement points are points provided by sap in standard programs to modify the source code. Go to any standard program, Locate the spiral button on the toolbar. Then press it and then navigate to edit->enhancement operations->display enhancement point menu. Then a no of yellow lines would appear, which are the available en points. You would have to change it and write the applicable source code.
    Reward if helpul.
    Regards Madhu.

    Hi Guys,
Is it possible to set a program back to the standard code after the modifications have been applied in the upgraded system?
When I try to reset the object, I get the message that it can not be reset back to the standard code since it has already been adjusted.
Is there a way to set it back to standard even after the object is adjusted?

  • How to add a field in standard tcode pa30 with info type 21.

    Hi Experts
I need to add a field Child Allowance Entitlement in PA30 transaction where infotype is 21, this field is available in table P0021 but which is not active in standard transaction.
I just check in SPRO Settings - > Personnel Management - > Personnel Administration -> Customizing user Interface -> Change screen modificaion -> in that i gave the module pool number as mp002100 and screen number as 2000. the field is not shown there. but in alternative screen 2005 that field is available how can i display that field in the standard transaction pa30 with infotype 21.
Can anyone please suggest me to display the field in the standard transaction.
    Regards,
    Vijayan.R

    Hi Vijayan,
to modify the infotype screen for your purposes, you have to maintain feature P0021 as mentioned above, in order to obtain your screen modifier.
Usually this modifier is equal to your corresponding MOLGA.
This modifier is then used in V_T588M, when you can assign alternate screen modification to your modifier.
    Let`s say :
    Modifier 06 - France -    Screen 2000
Modifier 01 - Germany - Screen 2000 with some hidden fields.
    I hope it helps

  • How to find the Standard Program associated with a Standard IDOC

    Hi,
I am going work on enhancing the standard IDOC. Any body can suggest how to find a standard pogram associated with a Standard IDOC. And can any body send some exaple code for extending a standard IDOC and to implement the logic in the standard program .....

    Hi,
For outbound IDoc the program can be found:
    1) For master IDoc via transaction BD60. Here for the message type you can find the function module used to generate the IDoc. Within this function module you can find the user exit where you can code your logic.
    2) For IDocs with message control (output control) we maintain settings for proces code in WE41. This process code will lead to outbound IDoc generation program.
For Inbound IDoc the program can be found:
Via WE42 where inbound process and its related inbound function module is maintained.
In each cases above we can go the function module and find the customer exit where idoc enhancement logic can be coded.
For extending IDoc look at the following links:
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/dc/6b7d6243d711d1893e0000e8323c4f/content.htm">Extending IDoc - SAP help</a>
It can be summarized as follows:
Enter transaction WE30 (ALE->Extension-> IDOC types->Maintain Idoc type)
    - Type in your name of the extended IDOC type (usually starting with 'Z') and click on the Basic IDoc type, click the create icon.
    - Click on Create new and enter a description and press enter.
    - Click on ZIDOCTYPE01 and then on the Create icon.
    - Enter ZIDOCTYPE as the segment type, click on Segment Editor.
    - Enter a description for your segment type and create.
    - Enter a description for your segment, enter each field required in your IDoc and press enter to validate.
    - Save and generate, press back
    - To release the segment choose Goto, Release from the menu.
    - Check the box on the line of your segment.
    - Save, back and enter.
    - Your Idoc type structure should be displayed with your new segment.
    - Save and back.
    - To release the Idoc type choose Extras, Release type from the menu and Yes.
    Hope this helps.

So here's my situation.  I have a text flow.  The user starts typing "The lazy brown dog..." and after each character is typed I'm modifying the font size of all the text to make it fit inside the container.  Here's how I'm doing that: http://aaronhardy.com/flex/size-text-to-container/ (you can right-click the app to see the source).
That all works well, but undo isn't working so well.  When I hit undo, I would like it to remove the text.  But when I call undo on the undo manager, it gets to EditManager.performUndo() where it checks to see if operation.endGeneration is different than textFlow.generation.  In my case, they aren't the same because I updated the font size after the last keystroke.  Because they're different, the undo fails.  Because I updated the font size after the last text insert, TextFlow.processModelChanged() was called and increased the text flow's generation while the insert text operation's end generation stayed the same.
Ultimately I think I want to create a composite operation that contains any text modifications with their following text auto-sizing.  Either that or I want to prevent my font auto-sizing operation from affecting the text flow generation.  Either way, I'm not sure how to go about pulling it off.  I'm sure I can make some sweet hacks but I'd really appreciate some guidance.  Thanks.

I'm able to successfully merge the sizing operations with the text operations.  I did it in a round-about way but afterward I found a more appropriate way: executing the ApplyFormatOperation by calling back into EditManager.doOperation when the FlowOperationEvent.FLOW_OPERATION_END event is dispatched from TextFlow (essentially making it recursive).  This way the EditManager will composite the operations.  This is described pretty well in the code and documentation of EditManager.doInternal().  I didn't test it, however.
Instead, for a couple reasons I decided not to go with that plan at all but instead went with my Plan B which was to prevent my font auto-sizing operation from affecting the text flow generation.  I essentially want the auto-sizing to occur without it going into the undo history, modifying the text flow generation, etc., etc.  I want it to go incognito.  The way I did this was to store the text flow's generation, make the font size modifications, then set the text flow's generation back to what it was before the font size was applied.  This may have some negative repercussions but for now I think it's the best approach for my needs.
Thanks for letting me talk to myself!  Feel free to add ideas.

    Hello,
This is pretty basic, whenever you've currency & quantity fields you need to pass the corres. reference fields.
In your case you need to populate the cfieldname & ctabname fields of the FieldCat.
