Starting service ns-slapd on linux when SSL activated

Hi everyone !
I had to activate the SSL option in my sunone directory server on linux.
When the service must restart (reboot for example), the following message appears :
Starting SUNONE Directory server: Enter PIN for Internal (Software) Token:
The directory server is waiting for the password associated to the certificate.
I've created a file with the password (in clear !!!) and adapted the start command but I don' t like this solution :
./ns-slapd -D /home/SunOne/slapd-xxx -i /home/SunOne/slapd-xxx/logs/pid "$@" < /tmp/passwordfile.tmp
Does anybody have another solution more "secure" ?

It seems that how to do this is documented, but not at the right location, nor properly.
Anyway, here's how to do this:
Create a ServerRoot/alias/slapd-serverID-pin.txt file, containing the password required to start the instance automatically in secure mode. This allows the cluster to restart the data service without human intervention.
The exact format of the slapd-serverID-pin.txt is :
Internal (Software) Token:<secret>

OBIEE Upgrade when SSL activated

We will be upgrading our OBIEE install from 11.1.1.5 to 11.1.1.6.8 and there are a few points in the upgrade process where you are asked for the Port number of the Admin Server (e.g. when running upgradenonj2eeapp.bat).
This will be our 3rd upgrade, but the first where SSL has been activated.
When I log in to Web Logic Console (using Port 7002) and look at 'Servers' I can see that the Listen Port for Admin Server is 7001. We haven't disabled 7001 so I'm guessing both ports are still active?
But using wlst - I can only connect to the Admin Server through 7001. If I use 7002 it says "There is no server running at 7002".
So not sure which port number to use when going through the upgrade process - anyone have experience of this?

In case, by a million to one chance!, anyone hits this same issue, we have managed to solve the problems we were having.
We needed to regenerate the SSL certificates using Enterprise Manager and we were then able to access the servers through both the regular and SSL ports.
Issues we'd been having in running the 'commit' mbean after uploading the rpd were also solved.

? Starting Services Auto when starting DB

I am running a 10gr2 db on Linux. I have configured a couple of services for my users to connect to the db. Is there a way to configure the services so that they automatically start when the DB is started with either SRVCTL or SQLPLUS??
I need to start the service manually using the following command...
SRVCTL START SERVICE -S ...
Any help would be appreciated...

I think you can easily integrate this command "SRVCTL START SERVICE -S" in database startup script. Like you can put this command at the very end of the "start" section and it will execute at end when the DB would be up.

Some anti-virus programs (e.g., McAfee) have this rule that can be invoked under the "maximum protection" settings: PREVENT PROGRAMS REGISTERING AS A SERVICE. If that rule is set to BLOCK, then any attempt to install or upgrade iTunes will fail with an "iPod service failed to start" message.
If you are getting this problem with iTunes, check to see if your anti-virus has this setting and unset it, at least for as long as the iTunes install requires. Exactly how to find the rule and turn it on and off will vary, depending upon your anti-malware software. However, if your anti-virus or anti-malware software produces a log of its activities, examining the log may help you find the problem.
For example, here's the log entry for McAfee:

Note that the log says "Common Maximum Protection: Prevent programs registering as a service". The "Common Maximum Protection" is the location of the rule, "Prevent programs registering as a service" is the rule. I used that information to track down the location in the McAfee VirusScan Console where I could turn the rule off.
After I made the change, iTunes installed without complaint.

i used some crs_start commands
i am not familar which command for which service i am only familar with few ,which i have listed above
to make document for safe side....................as oracle insited when services are offline please start manually
to start manually i am preparing document

When starting J2EE server PE8 on Linux

When starting J2EE server PE8 on Linux Fedora Core 1, the following message is displayed:-
"Unable to read system environment. No system environment will be used."
1. Is there any side effect to the J2EE server PE8 performance or functionalities about this warning message?
2. Is there any way to avoid this issuea in case it does have side effect?

When will I get my security deposit back, $125 to start service?

I would like to get my security deposit back of $125.00 that I had to pay when I started service. It is my understanding that after 350 days of uninterupted service, you get your deposit back by check, including interest. I was also advised that I could contact Customer Service and request for a hardship return of my deposit, my account is in good standing and I have not had any interuptions in service.

It is a year not 350 days. You also needed to have made your payments on time for 12 consecutive months.

FIM Password Reset Client Service error 1053 when starting service - what is the minimum permissions set?

Hi,
I've installed Password Reset Client Service on a machine with locked down GPO settings. Now, service, running under NETWORK_SERVICE account doesn't start (Service Control Manager reports error 1053 after waiting 30 seconds for the service to respond during
start).
If I change service account to some other account (i.e. domain account), service runs fine and I am able to reset password successfully, so there is no issues with password reset infrastructure, firewall, etc..). Problem is only with NETWORK SERVICE not
having enough permission to do its job.
Unfortunately, there is no event log entries in neither of relevant event logs (Application, Security, System, Forefront Identity Manager) that would provide additional information on why service doesn't start. ProcessMonitor tracing revealed only, that
service cannot access some of the registry entries. After granting permissions, service still refuses to start.
What I'd like to know is there a list of permissions, configuration entries, that NETWORK SERVICE needs in order to run normally?
If that is not available, does anybody have any idea, how to find out what is preventing NETWORK SERVICE account from running that service?

The above often solves it because this disabled CRL checking for the account running the service. As the service is the network service, it has no scope off of the box, so the machine account is typically used and many shops have policies in place that prevent
this. If the above entry doesn't help, try using your account as the service account. If that works, then its probably a syntax problem with above entry. If it fails with your account too then its most likely not CRL checking. There is
a registry key that can be configured that could assist:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \System \CurrentControlSet \Control]
ServicesPipeTimeout = 30000
Try setting this to another value higher than 30000. This value is milliseconds. I would also look at network capture and verify if we are indeed attempting to go to the Internet during service startup.

Yes, after working on your repository Offline you need to deploy it through EM otherwise you won't be able to see the changes in Analytics. When you say the name changes, I'm unsure as to what you're trying to say. Yes, the new repository will be saved to the repository folder on the server as a new version of the repository with a *.00n* tag after it where n depicts the iteration of the repository. As far as the Catalog is concerned, if you haven't made any changes to the Catalog, your Catalog should remain intact even after the deployment of the RPD.

How to configure Node manager on Linux on ssl port

I have installed SOA BPM 11.1.1.3 on linux with ssl enabled. I am trying to configure Node Manager but it's not working.
Here are the steps I did to configure.
1. Created a machine
2. Added managed servers to the machine i.e. soa,bam
3. Enroll domain using nmEnroll using
cd $BEA_HOME/user_projects/domains/<domain_name>/bin/
. setDomainEnv.sh

wls> connect(’weblogic’,'weblogic1’, ‘t3://mymachine.mydomain:7001’)

here 7001 is the admin server non-ssl port but when I try 7002 ssl port it doesn't connect. But I need to enroll it on ssl port as I have ssl enabled.
4. reset the node manager user/password same as weblogic console
5. started the node manager using $WL_HOME\server\bin\startNodeManager.sh
But when I log back into console and try to start my manage server it gives the following error

Unable to start service IfsDefaultService

Hello,
I am having a problem with HTTP DAV access of IFS. This is a new install of IFS on a SuSe 7.2 Linux box.
When starting Apache and JServ, the jserv.log shows an error complaining that the IfsDefaultService cannot be started, followed by other errors.
According the OEM Console, I have successfully started the IFS Domain, and related nodes/services.
I have enabled IFS_DAV_DEBUG but that did not provide the answers.
Can someone help me interpret the error below?

Several points:
- Look at the appendix of the 1.1 Developer's Guide for details on this error message. http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/ifs/doc_library/ifs_1_1/Developers%20Guide/Errormessages.html#1011023
- In the appendix of the 1.1 Developer's Guide, it indicates "...can also occur if the DatabaseUrl setting in the service properties file is invalid."
- I think the DatabaseUrl is found in the $ORACLE_HOME/ifs1.1/settings/oracle/ifs/server/properties/HttpServer.properties file.
- Could it be that you didn't re-run IfsConfig after changing something about your connection? I believe IfsConfig sets the DatabaseUrl for you.

Acer Laptop stuck at "Setup is Starting Services," can't move on AT ALL!

Hi! I've been having a serious issue with my Acer Aspire (Windows 7) laptop since around 3am last night. Before I go on, please note that I have been searching for solutions before posting this question, and none of what I've found matches my situation and/or
solves the issue.
SHORT VERSION:
Issues:
-"Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, restart the installation" error window keeps showing up, forcing me to click OK, and restart (causing same error over and over)
-After the above error, and another attempt to restore, this error shows "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows Installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click OK to restart the computer and then the
installation."
-can't access login screen after continues restarts
-AtBroker.exe and Explorer.exe not running (and probably other important .exe as well?)
-None of the Safe Modes are accessible
What I've done so far:
-begin restore process (not factory default! the process included backing up my files)
-continuous restart and encounter "Windows could not complete the installation. To install windows on this computer, restart the installation."
-F8 to start the "Last known good configuration," just led me back to the current issue.
-F8 to boot in Directory Services Restore Mode, went back to trying to install in Safe Mode, forced me to restart.
-F8 to disable automatic restart (failed and made me restart anyway)
-F8 to "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement"... also failed
NOTHING I've done has made any advancement past the "Setup is starting services."
LONG VERSION
Last night, I was installing a new theme on my laptop (from a 3rd party on deviantart, but I was carefully following instructions to not mess anything up, using theme manager. however it's probably the reason for the issue) and everything was going well.
i had to restart occasionally to make sure the themes worked but on my final restart (after I decided I preferred a previous theme), everything went wrong! After logging in, the screen turned gray (it'd probably be black for others, but mine was gray maybe
due to the theme) and the cursor was there just flickering. And this continued for about 10 minutes before I tried opening task manager but that failed (said the .exe wouldn't start properly) so I shut it down (through ctrl+alt+del) and restarted.
Still same issue, but this time it said that AtBroker.exe and then explorer.exe were unable to run properly, preventing me from even seeing my desktop.
So today when I got home, I ended up going through the Acer eRecovery Management and doing a system restore (but it would keep my files, just restore the settings to how they were when my parents bought the laptop (summer-ish 2011)). It took a while and
it looked promising. Eventually, it took me to the screen with the Windows logo, then to a screen that said "setup is starting services"). And it gave me an error that it couldn't continue installation so it had to restart, so I clicked OK. It happened
again. Clicked OK and repeated that 2 more times until I got fed up. I just want to skip around that installation and try to access my desktop or at least Command Prompt but it won't let me get any further without making me restart (by clicking OK). I also
do not recall any disk when my dad set my laptop up but this was 2 years ago. I can't find one either, so I assumed Windows 7 came with it?
I really don't know what to do! Nor am I really tech savvy when it comes to fixing this kind of computer problem, so if anyone has any solutions, I wouldn't really know a lot of terms that would be important to know when it comes to fixing this issue. Hopefully,
someone can explain what's happening and how I can fix it fairly simply.

It sounds really serious. According to my understanding, you can't start your computer normally.

If the issue still persists, we suggest you use installation DVD to do clean install.

Error message saying this device cannot be used because Apple mobile device service is not started. What does this mean and how do I start service....had these devices for over a year now??

When I tried to sync my iphone 4 and ipad in iturnes, an error message popped up saying this device cannot be used because Apple Mobile Device service is not started! What does that mean and how do I start service? I've had these devices for over a year and update and sync regularly and have never seen this message before!

I got that message yesterday. I'm new at this so don't know if this is the correct solution but it worked for me. I reset my iPod by holding the 2 buttons down until the apple appears AND I restarted my computer. After that everything worked.
