[STATEMENT] XDO Servlet shutdown complete in oc4j log

Hi,
This one is related in my previous thread but this time, the logs are coming from oc4j logs.
Whenever we run a big report, BIP cannot generate report in Apps but with small reports, the reports are generated as espected. With the logs below, is it possible that it is an environment issue?

Thanks,

Hi,
Actually, we only encounter this issue in Production.
If we run a report with a minimal records/plans, the report is generated successfully but with a multiple records/plans (like 25 plans or more), BIP failed to generate a report in Production.
We also replicate this issue in our dev environment and the report is successfully generated.
Also, our report template is fine since we can generate a report in Production.
Do you have any idea why this is happening in Production?
Thanks,

    Hi,
    Just a quick questions.
    1. How did you determine the 1536MB heap size?
    2. Does this error coming from the xdo.log means that we should increase the memory size?
    3. If the heap size is increase and still got the same issue, can you recommend us other options to fix this issue?
    Thanks, :)

  • Question on the entries in the oc4j log

    Hi all,
If anybody could help me on the following issue, It is highly admirable. Thanks in advance.
There is a module in our application to send mails to the people working in the organization regarding their work.
We have a java servlet that send mail to the people. This servlet is called from a pl/sql programming. During this process, few of the people are not getting the emails. But the exact information is un known. But it writes to the oc4j log. we could only see entries like below for that particular day,
    11/06/04 19:06:44 Session
    11/06/04 19:07:02 Session
    11/06/04 19:07:24 Session

[060411_111134933][][ERROR] Could not create an image. Set html-image-dir and html-image-base-uri correctly.
Other than these entries there is nothing else written to the log. I am neither an expert in the application server nor a java programmer. If anybody can guess at the problem, please do it.
    Thanks,
    Suresh.

"Could not create an image. Set html-image-dir and html-image-base-uri correctly."
Probably a custom message generated by the servlet. Do you have some kind of installation
manual that goes along with the set-up. I am not a clairvoyant but it looks like the application
is expecting you to set a certain directory in which images are contained. Or it could be you
have set the directory, but forgot to add the right image.

    Hi,
Thank you for update. I suggest we try the steps below to narrow down the cause:
    1. Open elevated CMD, run "net stop vss && net start vss", press Enter. If there is prompt that VSS service is not started, try "net start vss && net stop vss" press Enter. Run " vssadmin list writers" again, does the same issue occur?
    2. Try to backup VM using Windows Server backup, is there any error message? If so, please let us know the detailed error message?
    3. Restart this server and check if there is any difference.
    4. If the same problem occurs, please help to collect MPS report:
    1) Download proper MPS Report tool from the website below.
    Microsoft Product Support Reports
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=CEBF3C7C-7CA5-408F-88B7-F9C79B7306C0&displaylang=en
    2) Double-click to run it, if requirement is not met, please follow the wizard to download and install them. After that, click Next, when the "Select the diagnostics you want to run" page appears, select "General", "Server Components", click Next.
After collecting all log files, choose "Save the results", choose a folder to save <Computername>MPSReports.cab file. upload the file to Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/). If you would
like other community member to analyze the report, you can paste the link here, if not, you can send the link to

  • Purge oc4j logs

    Dear all,
How can I purge OC4j logs in R12 (like out.log,server.log,system-aplication.log ) when the system is up and running ?..out.log is 4.5 GB in size ?
    any idea ?
    Kai

    Kai,
On Linux/Unix, yes you can. Or, you can rename the file and delete it later. Some operating systems like Windows will not allow you to purge log files unless you shutdown the services first.

    Hi,
    Remove "receive_on_all_interfaces" and set bind_to_all_interfaces=false i think.
It might not be exactly what you want to do, but read up on those parameters on the internet on Jgroups.

  • Checkpoint not complete in alert log file Oracle 11gR2 RAC

    Hi,
I found checkpoint not complete in alert log file, almost every 3 seconds .
In metalink i saw for this error, archive_lag_target=0, already this value was set to 0 in my database.
We have 7 redo log groups for each instance, each group is of two redo log files, each file size is 50m.
To avoid this error what i need to do..........
    please help me..................

When you "checkpoint not complete" messages in your alert log this normally means your online redo logs are defined too small to handle the load and you have filled and need to switch to a new online redo log before the checkpoint triggered by the previous log switch has been completed.
Increasing your online redo log size is normally the fix for this.

  • My Apple TV states that it cannot complete my purchase, but all my account info is correct, etc.

My Apple TV states that it cannot complete my purchase (of a movie), and yet all my account info is correct.

I did more than that - I reset the Apple TV so that I had to get back in as if I were setting it up for the first time.  I actually used my iPad to do this by just touching it the Apple TV with it.  That all worked fine.  I had to verify my password again and my credit card information.  When the Apple rebooted with all of this and I tried to order the same or other movies, the same response came up.
If Apple doesn't contact me soon, I will simply get the movies from some other service on my smart TV and just use the Apple TV to stream photos or whatever from my iPad or iPhone.  This is ridiculous.
    Thanks again for trying.

  • OC4J Log Error Interpretation

Hi, I am trying to debug an authentication issue using a system based on the information in this article: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/1013/oc4jjaas/oc4j_jaas_login_module.htm
    IE database/datasource based authentication.
I am getting the following error in the applications OC4J log every time a login attempt is made, no error is seen from the application, authentication simply fails.
When I had the recommended code for fine logging in the j2ee-loggin.xml file (<logger name="oracle.j2ee.security.oc4j" level="FINE" useParentHandlers="false">
    <handler name="oc4j-handler"/>
    <handler name="console-handler"/>
</logger>) there was no information at all recorded in the OC4J log, not until I removed the extra logger code from that file did entries such as the following begin appearing in the log file. What could be going wrong here? Why is the login process generating a null pointer error and why would the log file not be written too when the fine logging code was added to the config file? Any idea's? All I can really gain from this error message is that the DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule is at some stage atleast being referenced or called.

Well, still struggling with this one.. although i've managed to get fine oc4j security logging enabled through the console, the error stream now follows this sequence of events at each login attempt :
    [DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule]login called on DBTableLoginModule
    [DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule]Calling callbackhandler ...
[DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule]Username returned by callback = TATKINS
[DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule]Username changed to case as defined by null to TATKINS

         etc etc...
JAAS-OC4J: Authentication failure for user: TATKINS
JAAS-OC4J: Membership check for group: USER failed for user: anonymous
What i cant work out is what is causing the login module to abort and raise a null pointer exception. Could this be due to a configuration mistake in the console manager or one of the xml files prior to deployment? I just have no idea how to approach fixing this issue.
I really would appreciate some assistance, 5+ days trying to get this working. I had this working on jdeveloper embedded oc4j, and all the tute's on standalone deployment pass off the configuration of standalone as simple compared to embedded, yet don't go into enough detail to get it working, atleast from my perspective.

  • At what point oracle write "Checkpoint not complete" in alert log ?

    DB version: 10.2.0.4/RHEL 5.8
During a batch run, we encountered lots of 'Checkpoint not complete' errors in alert log.
Later we discovered that ORLs were sized only 50mb and this DB had only 3 redo log group. Since this is the potential cause, we are going create at least 10 Redo log groups and increase Redo log size to 500MB.
But , I want to know what exactly causes oracle to write "Checkpoint not complete" in alert log ?
For the purpose of this discussion, I am assuming we have only 1 ORL per redo log group. Is my below assumption correct ?
    ORL1
    |----------------> ORL1 file got full, so, LGWR starts writing to ORL2 file. Checkpoint occurs at log switch
    |                    DBWR writes modified blocks associated with the redo entries in ORL1 to datafiles
    |
    V
    ORL2
    |----------------> ORL2 file got full, LGWR wants to start writing to ORL3 file. Checkpoint is initiated at log switch.
    |                    But checkpoint can't be finished due to unknowN reasons
    |
    V
    ORL3
    |---------------->

Your assumption is only partly right.
    I would illustrate it like
    ORL1
    |
    |----------------> ORL1 file got full, so, LGWR starts writing to ORL2 file. Checkpoint occurs at log switch
    |                    DBWR starts writing modified blocks associated with the redo entries in ORL1 to datafiles
    |
    V
    ORL2
    |----------------> ORL2 file got full, LGWR starts writing to ORL3 file.
    |                    Checkpoint for ORL2 is initiated at log switch.
    |
    V
    ORL3
    |
    |----------------> ORL3 file (the last member) also got full very quickly . LGWR wants to start the 'new cycle' by
writing (Reusing) to ORL1. But the checkpoint intiated by the log switch of ORL1 from the previous cycle is
                        not complete yet !! .
Basically you get this error when LGWR attempts to reuse an online redo log file (ORL1 in the above example) and finds that it cannot.
This is because the remaining ORL files (ORL2 and ORL3) got fully written before  DB writer finished checkpointing the modified blocks associated with ORL1 yet.
Until the checkpoint of ORL1 is complete, the DB effectively hangs and user sessions have to wait until LGWR can safely reuse ORL1
Yes a larger redo log size of 10 groups can help. But make sure the I/O subsytem where ORLs are stored has no latency issues.

  • "checkpoint not complete" in alert log file.

    Hi, all.
I have got a message of "Checkpoint not complete" in alert log file.
Thread 2 advanced to log sequence 531
    Current log# 7 seq# 531 mem# 0: \\.\REDO231
    Current log# 7 seq# 531 mem# 1: \\.\REDO232
Thread 2 cannot allocate new log, sequence 532
    Checkpoint not complete
    Current log# 7 seq# 531 mem# 0: \\.\REDO231
    Current log# 7 seq# 531 mem# 1: \\.\REDO232
I searched "Checkpoint not complete" issue in this forum.
    As solutions,
    1. add more redo log groups
    2. increase the size of redo log
    3. check I/O contention
    4. set LOG_CHECKPOINT_INTERVAL, LOG_CHECKPOINT_TIMEOUT or
    FAST_START_MTTR_TARGET
I think No.4 is the possible first approach in our environment.
I think No.1 and No2 are not the ploblems in our environment.
I ask the above issue oracle support center, but
I was told that "if you are not getting this message frequently, you do not need to worry about it" from an oracle engineer.
Is this true?? If I am not getting this message frequently, there is no problem
in terms of database integrity, consistency, and performance?
I will be waiting for your advice and experience in real life.
    Thanks and Regards.

Redo Log Tuning Advisory and Automatic Checkpoint Tuning are new features introduced in Oracle 10G, if you are on 10g you may benefit from these features.
The size of the redo log files can influence performance, because the behavior of the database writer and archiver processes depend on the redo log sizes. Generally, larger redo log files provide better performance, however it must balanced out with the expected recovery time. Undersized log files increase checkpoint activity and increase CPU usage. As rule of thumb switching logs at most once every fifteen minutes.
Checkpoint frequency is affected by several factors, including log file size and the setting of the FAST_START_MTTR_TARGET initialization parameter. If the FAST_START_MTTR_TARGET parameter is set to limit the instance recovery time, Oracle automatically tries to checkpoint as frequently as necessary. Under this condition, the size of the log files should be large enough to avoid additional checkpointing due to under sized log files.
The redo logfile sizing advisory is specified by column optimal_logfile_size of v$instance_recovery. This feature require setting the parameter "fast_start_mttr_target" for the advisory to take effect and populate the column optimal_logfile_size.
Also you can obtain redo sizing advice on the Redo Log Groups page of Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control.
To enable automatic checkpoint tuning, unset FAST_START_MTTR_TARGET or set it to a nonzero value(This is measured in seconds and by default, this feature is not enabled, because FAST_START_MTTR_TARGET has a default value of 0). If you set this parameter to zero this feature will be disabled. When you enable fast-start checkpointing, remove or disable(set to 0) the following initialization parameters:
    - LOG_CHECKPOINT_INTERVAL
    - LOG_CHECKPOINT_TIMEOUT
    - FAST_START_IO_TARGET
Enabling fast-start checkpointing can be done statically using the initialization files or dynamically using -
    SQL> alter system set FAST_START_MTTR_TARGET=10;
    Best regards.
