Stratosphere - No 3g/4g Data!

My data plan stopped working on New Year's Eve early in the afternoon. I called Verizon, and was told they would call when the problem is resolved.  I rely on my phone for directions, email, and can't believe that the problem is not resolved. I have called every day and there is no solution.  Am I alone in this "outage"?

I'm also am having difficulty with my Samsung Stratosphere data which started around New Year's Eve.  I called Verizon yesterday and went through the motions over the phone of switching mobile settings, removing battery, restarting with no success.  I thought maybe there was an outage in our area and was told by Verizon that they would send a tech to drive around our area in 4-7 days.  Not really good enough for me.  I took the phone to work with me today (30 miles away) and still no internet connectivity.  I also went online to the Verizon Customer Service Forums and was surprised by how many people are also similarly affected.  The thread is entitled 4g Service- Still Out Across the Nation? When I called Verizon again today to ask them about these outages, they acted like they don't know what I'm talking about.  I told them they better look at their forums and issue me a credit on my account.  I'm not happy and neither are a bunch of other people.

  • How export data from memo T app

I have a Samsung Stratosphere.  I have data stored in the memo T application.  Apparently the data is stored only in the app and not on the SD card.  I need to get that data to my new Android device. Why I've tried and challenges encountered....
Within the memo T application I find no command/option to export data
Within the files application, I cannot find data from the memo T application.
When I connect my Stratosphere to my computer using my USB I cannot see the data in the memo T app.
    Please help. Thanks.

Was this issue resolved? I have the same trouble trying to find all my T Memos from my old Stratosphere and syncing to my new S5.
I am not a software whiz so will require step by step hand holding.

  • How do I get the Data useage Icon/widget back on my Stratosphere?

Some how I deleted this Icon/widget that showed my Verizon data useage and I can't figure out how to get it back.
    I'm sure it's simple, but I can't find it.
    Thanks

For others who may be curious, long press on any empty spot on your homescreen, select add, widget, choose the widget you want to add.

  • Turn off Stratosphere 2 Mobile data confirmation dialogue

Every time I try to turn off my mobile data, I get a pop-up saying: "Unless you use Wi-Fi, you will no longer be able to use the Internet, Email or other apps that require a data connection.  Turn off the mobile data connection?" I'm well aware I can't use data programs, that's the whole point of turning it off; I don't want those apps wasting my data.  Is there any way to keep the pop-up from showing up every single time I turn off my data?

    No.

  • Anyone else experiencing Stratosphere dropping Mobile-Data constantly?

This has been an off and on issue since moving to Verizon and having acquired the Stratosphere.  It seems not to be limited to a single device, as both Stratosphere's on the account experience these frequent drops, and they occur no matter where and what location.
The drops were somewhat "bearable" until this week, when they seem to drop every 5-10 minutes or so.
Is anyone else experiencing these problems?
    Thanks.

I've experienced 4G dropping down to 3G and then disappearing altogether on my Stratosphere. I do have to say that it has disappeared less often since the otherwise-wretched update, but I still spend as much time on 3G as 4G in my house.

  • Multiple Samsung Stratosphere problems after FF1 update

There have been multiple posts on various issues users have found after the recent Stratopshere FF1 update.  Some were replys to older posts and some only touched on a single issue.  I wanted to consolodate into one thread, and hopefully get teh attention of Verizon to maybe reply here.
For reference, a lot has been discuss here --> https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/874446
Summary:  Verizon and Samsung have finally updated the Stratosphere almost 1 year after release.  This updated the phone from Android 2.3.5 to Android 2.3.6.  Going by filename, this is known as the FF1 update.   This update went live at the end of August 2012, and most users were upgraded before mid September 2012.
There were some noticable changes in this update:
-Lock screen has changed.  The puzzle piece and glass lock options have been removed.  New options have been added, such as facial recognition unlock.
-Call answering screen has changed, introducing the option to ignore call with a message.
-Camera now has digital zoom ability.
-Ability to uninstall the 2 games the phone comes with (Need for Speed and Lets Golf)
-Phone icon has changed ever so slightly
-Wifi icon now included up and down arrows to indicate data is being sent or recieved
-Wallpaper no longer "stretches" over multiple screens - ie, it no longer scrolls as you move from screen to screen
-The visual voicemail app has been improved (I have personally not used this feature)
-Callback number is now supported in text / picture messages
-Android core OS updated from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 (both versions are still Gingerbread)
-Update to how the device deals with the end of scrolling.  It used to rubber-band bounce back, now it will just give a green bar and expand the bar as you scroll.  (I cannot fault Samsung for this change as this was at teh core of an Apple lawsuit and has been changed in newer versions of Android.)
-(I am sure there are more.  please list any others you may have noticed)
I have found some problems, and others have confirmed that this is (at least) somewhat widespread:
-The biggest problem is with wifi connectivity.  Upon an initial connection to wifi, everything works great.  After somewhere between 15minutes and 2 hours, problems start happening.  Its as if the wifi keeps hanging or reconnecting.  Download speeds (tested with the SpeedTest.com app) slow to about one third of normal.  Apps like Facebook that require a constant connection will just time out.
-It appears the signal strength for 3g and 4g connections is lower.  There are places where I used to get a 4g connection, and now I only get 3g.  Some palces I fall back to just 2g digital.
Another minor issue i found was with text messages.  When you reply to a message, it no longer automatically focuses the text in the input box.  You have to first click into the box to start typing.  Not a huge deal, but one more step to take over and over.  Minor annoyence.
At my house, I struggle to get a 3g or 4g signal.  I depend on wifi for my data connection.  So with the wifi connection problem introduced by teh FF1 update, my phone is somewhat useless to me now while at home.  Here are teh troubleshooting steps I have been through so far to attempt to fix the wifi problem:
-Complete factory reset on my phone.  (did not help)
-Pull battery and SIM card out of phone for 15 minutes.  (did not help)
-Went to a Verizon store.  The guy at the store was helpful, and said he also had a Stratosphere and was getting the same wifi problems after the update.  He said all he could do was to send me out a replacement phone. I got the replacement phone, and it had the same problems.
-I read in multiple palces that Android 2.3.6 has a bug within wifi and DHCP.  Apparently if you have a DHCP lease set to "forever", the phone will keep requesting a new address.  Setting the DHCP server on the router to something like 2 weeks, or using a static IP is supposed to solve this.  I have a NetGear N900 router, and I can not change teh DHCP lease time.  It appears, however, that my router is not sending out "forever" leases.  But just to make sure, I gave my phone a static IP.  (None of these steps made any difference).
The only thing that temporarily fixes the problem is a reboot of the phone.  This will again give you anywhere from 15min to 2 hours of good wifi use before problems start happening.
I have now had this update for over a week, and on 2 phones.  I still can't maintain a wifi connection for much longer than 15 minutes without problems starting up.
I am asking Verizon or Samsung to at least confirm this issue if possible.  Maybe there are newer revs of the Stratopshere hardware that don't have this problem.  Or there is something unique about my (and apparently others) situation.  But it seems like Verizon's current stance is to offer a repalcement phone (as currently all Stratospheres are within their 1 year manufacture warranty as the phone has not been ouy for quite 1 year yet).
I am asking for a workaround for this problem, or a true fix adressed by a new software update, or at least allow us to roll back to the original Andorid 2.3.5 software.
I have had my original Stratosphere for almost a year with no wifi problems - then get the FF1 update and have had nothing but problems on 2 different phones.
    Thank you for your time.

Thanks for starting a comprehensive thread on problems with this update. I want to add one more.
I have Bluetooth in my car (a 2004 model), and previously the phone has connected to it practically instantly when I start the car. Since the update, I have never been able to connect the phone to the car by Bluetooth. Several times the phone has made a standard notification sound at the moment it should be connecting to Bluetooth, though no notification appears. I have no idea what that could mean. The car's Bluetooth shows up as paired in the list of devices in Settings > Wireless & networks > Bluetooth settings. I haven't seen this widely reported as an update issue, but perhaps some others have experienced it too.
UPDATE: I finally did some testing, and found that the notification was to signal the extremely brief appearance of a dialog indicating that the car's Bluetooth was requesting a connection. Accepting that request let the phone connect with the car, and calls went to the car's sound system as they should. When I turned the car off and back on (just the electrical system; not wasting any gas on this!), the connection was established immediately, so apparently the acceptance only had to be done once. Nevertheless, it did have to be done, and the dialog notification disappears within seconds. I believe it would have been possible to go into Bluetooth settings and accept the connection request there if I missed the notification; but not seeing the notification, I might not know to do this.
One further observation: When I turned the phone's Bluetooth off and back on after a connection had been established, leaving the car on the whole time, the two did not reconnect. I believe that may be different from before the update, but I'm not really sure.

  • Samsung Stratosphere- are you hating it too?

I bought this phone in April of 2012 because my Droid 2 charging port broke inside the phone.  I loved my Droid 2.  The Stratosphere is a similar style with a slide out Qwerty keyboard.  From the beginning it was not as steady and dependable as the Droid 2- but the bigger screen and the newness of the phone seemed to compensate.  A year and 3 months later- it has been a miserable experience.  It freezes constantly and needs the battery pulled to restart.  The boot up time is ridiculously long (yes I have downloaded apps- but isn't that what you get a smart phone for?).  I tried a new battery, same result.  I tried a bigger battery to help with the fact that a battery charge lasts about one outing to the store and back.  Same result.  Yes, it was a Samsung certified battery and pricey.  I sometimes get a reminder that someone called- but usually a day later.  Or again the day after that even though I addressed the issue.  Recently, it has been especially wonky.  My contact list was diminishing by the day.  Down to the point where I only had those in my Google circle were saved.  Then down to the 4 imbedded contacts for your bill, your data, etc.  I went to the local Verizon store after digging in the website for help- because the website pointed me in the direction of a customer service specialist at the store.  Unfortunately, that was the worst customer service I have ever received from Verizon.  After describing my phone events, I was told that this is a problem inherent in "Android" devices.  Not once did the rep take my phone, work through the system and look at it.  He took my information and quoted me a price for an "early" upgrade to a different phone of $199 with a $50 rebate.  I did that already for a broken phone 15 months ago.  So this is what he told me to do.  My son is on my plan.  He is eligible for an upgrade.  He wants the Samsung 4.  He told me to take over my son's Droid 2 (4 year old phone still kind of working) on my plan.  Or use my son's eligibility and leave him with the 4 yr old phone.  Either way- Verizon was getting $200.  And my phone wasn't getting fixed.  And I was actually told to downgrade in order to "handle" my problem.  This is an unacceptable answer to my problem.  For all the hundreds and hundreds of $$$ I pay Verizon year after year- I wonder why there is not a better solution to phones that don't work as necessary.  Verizon sells products made by other companies- sure.  But figure out a way to back these products instead of sending us out the door with a brand spanking new 2 year lock-in for that phone.  When it doesn't work for 2 years they say "oh sorry, that's just what those phones do?"  And then require another big payout of $200 + only to be locked in once again for 2 years on a phone that has no promise of working that long?  I don't need that- I just want either a reconditioned one or a lesser value one to nurse me through the rest of the contract.  So my son can keep his upgrade he has earned.  Lastly, after working through the Verizon website and reading forums and endless blogs elsewhere I found my contacts in the backup assistant filed under "trash".  Now I am sure they will believe that I did something wonky myself to cause that.  But I assure you I did not.  They were there on my phone and then not.  Text messages came in under phone numbers instead of the names because somehow when my phone backed up contacts some magical evil gremlins sent it to a very odd world.  Long story short, at least for now I have a usable phone that will serve until the next event.  Hopefully, working until April.  And yes, I see that they are coming out next week with the new setup where you don't have contracts.  But believe me, they will still get their portion of $flesh$.  Pay me now or pay me later.  And then send you out into the world to either enjoy or suffer with a product they don't back up.  Each and every month I give Verizon over $200 of hard earned money.  It is a ridiculous amount we all give a HUGE company.  It wouldn't hurt them to have a FREE program to backup the products they sell with either reconditioned or new.  But to get that you need to tack on another $$ to the $$$$$$ you already pay.  Enough of our $ already- and stop whining about how Verizon eats a large portion of the actual cost of the phone when they sign you up.  They make it back and more- and who says a phone needs to originally cost $600 anyway?  They sell so many it is a mind boggling amount of money swirling around in cell phone land.  In the end, I'm done with Verizon.  I am moving to a month to month phone system and away from this corporate giant who can't be bothered with little me.

Nannerknob, I regret to hear that you're having so many issues with your Stratosphere. My mom has one and loves it and I want you to feel the same way. Is your phone freezing on any specific app or task? If you have an antivirus or task killer installed, please remove as those can cause these types of issues. Have you ever completed a factory reset for these issues http://bit.ly/PQplpM? All of our phones do come with a 1 year manufacturer warranty, outside of that timeframe, you would need an extended warranty for the device to be exchanged. Do you have an extended warranty?

  • How do you select multiple messages/conversations on SMS/MMS to forward or save to memory card on Samsung Stratosphere?

How do you select multiple messages/conversations on SMS/MMS to forward or save to memory card on Samsung Stratosphere?
My screen is cracked and I need to replace my phone and I don't see a way of selecting multiple messages or even conversations one at a time to forward them to email or to save them to a memory card.  I can delete thread but can't forward it or move it.  Is there a setting somewhere that will move the storage location for messages to the memory card instead of internal?
If not, any suggestions on backup apps?  I have heard of Txtract to back up SMS and MMS messages, and Titanium Backup to back up everything (SMS, MMS, apps, app data...).  Anyone have any experience with those, or other suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • Samsung Stratosphere keyboard questions

    People,
Is anyone familiar with the Samsung Stratosphere phone? This is my first Android smartphone and I've run into a few problems. Is there a "enter" key on the keyboard? one isn't marked and my phone came with the wrong users manual, plus Verizon doesn't have a users manual posted on any of their pages either. Also, is there a way to go forward, or undo the back button, from the keyboard? Will a stylus work on these Androids, fat fingers suck.
Browser, how do you bookmark a page on one of these? list of favorites? will these phones accept .pdf's or .docx files in through the data port? I hope there is probably a word.docx reader app somewhere? I cant find it. am having trouble with the Sims card as well, is there some set-up step or is there some procedure to unlock it, unblock it, activate it or something
To be able to use the Cloud player so many people offer, is that feature limited to the ability to use WiFi? I understand that the cloud service is an online storage for things like music and or movies, what else can be stored online? I can'f find allot of info about this Cloud service.
I would appreciate even a partial answer to only one question, if anyone feels like responding, but I assume "chat" will be manned come monday and that should answer my questions? I think! thanks again

  • What is "Data Usage"

I have a Samsung Stratosphere. My plan allows 4 gb. of usage monthly. For the first time in over two years of owning this phone, my Data usage has gone over 1 gb. what exactly is considered "Data Usage" and how can I manage it?

Data usage takes place when you use your phone for visiting Web sites, emails, apps like Facebook or Instagram when you are not connected to wifi. You Can Manage it By in settings Under data usage and limit mobile data usage and set limits with the graph.  Or by simply watch what you are doing when you're not on wifi don't stream audio or video as much. You can also add family base feature for $5/ month which let's you make hard stop on mobile data at 4G for example and you mange that from your my Verizon online via a control panel. It's free for 3 months on a more everything plan also.  Hope this helps

  • Automatic data downloads

I know that some data updates are done automatically...BUT...I left my Stratosphere at the Emergency Room 12 days ago.  The head of hospital security assurred me that he had placed my phone in the Security Office in a drawer under lock and key.  When I went to pick it up, they were in panic mode because the phone was nowhere to be found.  I pulled my Verizon Account up to look at recent activity.    - there have been data downloads every day since...some for small amounts, others at 15197.3k and another for 33490k.  The rest aren't quite as large, but there appears to have been some activity on the phone.  No calls though.  Verizon told me that it had to have been in use by someone at the hospital.  Before i accuse them, I want to make certain that there is no other possibility.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!  All of my e-mails were on there..not to mention evidentiary support on a case that I'm working on.  Not cool!

I would guess that someone is using it. The battery wouldn't have lasted 12 days without being charged at some point. The only way it might have lasted that long was if it had a full charge when you left it and it was in airplane mode and all the radios were off. It couldn't have transferred data if it was in airplane mode.

  • Stratosphere LCD Issues!!!

I got the Stratosphere in November, it was working well, then one day I opened it up and the screen faded.  I think there was a crack in the LCD, although the glass itself was perfectly fine.   They thought it would be covered under warranty,  however, now I see a HUGE charge $300+ which must be for this, although I haven't figured out online how to see this.    I have the new phone now, (about a month) and I already see lines in the LCD!!!!! I am loosing it!    My last phone lasted 5 years (at least) my phone before that was still working fine after 4 years!!!! I am not one to break phones!!! However, they must be useable as PHONES!!!! These seem to break easily.  My new phone is in 2 cases!!! I have a rubberized case and then i have a velcro pouch that I can wear on a belt.  HOW can it be breaking???   I just don't know what to do.  I need this for lots of things, but if I can't use if what good is it???

Hello DionM,  When I hover over your name, Direct message is not showing, it still shows Private.   I found my old number from when I was with Verizon before - don't remember when it started, but it ended around 1/28/07 when I switched to Sprint.  Verizon did not work well where I had moved to, but does again, so I had switched back.   I had the same sprint phone until last Nov/Dec when I got the Stratosphere (4 years 10 months!)  .    My old Verizon# was xxx-xxx-xxxx.   That number is obviously someone elses now, but that is what it was until early 07.     I'm still extremely disappointed, that they charge $300 for a new phone, especially since I kept the back, battery, Sim, and a data card from the original, and they still have the parts from the other one.  A charge is one thing, $300 is outrageous and the Customer Service reps I spoke with said it sounded like it would be covered under Warranty unless it looked like it had been smashed about.  Obviously they don't want to deal with annoyed customers....

  • Samsung Stratosphere

I am beyond frustrated.  I have had the phone for 2-3 months now and it has always had the same problem. I can't send pictures to anyone or a website without it taking up to 2-3 days.  (My other phone was near instant posting of photo.)  The pictures that I do take are like short little videos, 2-5 seconds long.  All the pictures that I receive from others I have the same problem they are 2-3 second videos.  This has been this way from the START.  Doesn't matter if I am in 4GLTE, 3G, battery out, battery in, a hard reset of my phone (several times),  mobile data enabled, mobile data disabled, DMCA only.  I have tried all of the suggestions and I am still having this problem.  I knew I shouldn't have "upgraded" to a smart phone.  This is what I want:  I want a normal picture, not a 2-3 second video.  I want to be able to send that picture to someone one or a website and have them receive it in a timely matter.  I would like to be able to receive a normal picture without the download timing out.  I don't want to have to go through 5-10 different settings to do this everytime.  This all is making the blogging that much harder.  Right now it is easier to take a pic with my Nikon D700, download that through the Nikon software, I am even able to touch it up and load it onto facebook or my blog, than it is to use this phone camera.  Obviously, this is an ongoing problem that Verizon seems to not know how to fix, given the number of discussions.
Such an unhappy customer right now.
    Dvora

I's happening to me to.When I first bought my samsung stratosphere i was ablet o receive pictures. No the last 3 month it wasn't receiving or sending pictures. After figuring it out I found out it only works when I turn on my Mobile Data, it won't work when using wifi. But I don't want to use the Mobile Data because It will use up my usage when receiving or sending pictures. I believe is hapening to samsung phones cause my friend has a different samsung model and it's happening to them to. My other friend has Iphone, LG, Motorola and it doesn't happen to them. So I believe is only Samsung.

  • I install window 8 and Unfortunatly all drive format. And all drive mix, now i have only 1 DRIVE C. I want Bit locker Drive's data Back

Last sunday i install a window 8 and this window format my all drive & make it 1 drive (DRIVE C). Before all of this i have 5 drive in different size with 1 Bitlocker protect drive.
So i try data recovery software to recover my data. i got back all my data without that ( bitlocker ) protected drive.
so please guys help me how can i get back data from bitlocker protected drives.
    please please help me.

    Hi,
I sorry for your experience, but there is no way to recovery the data encryped by BitLocker untill now.
BitLocker is designed to make the encrypted drive unrecoverable without the required authentication. When in recovery mode, the user needs the recovery password or recovery key to unlock the encrypted drive. Therefore, we highly recommend
that you store the recovery information in AD DS or in another safe location.
