Struts not good for high-load requests?

I need a small advice from somebody with experience writing high-load web applications. I worked in Java servlets and was doing a bit in Struts but this is my first bigger project without working in the team so now need to decide the technology.
I have to do the J2EE project that has simple business logic but will take some time for database and I/O operations and the maximum number of users is expected to be big, a few hundreds of them in the same time. Struts + Hibernate combination is very comfortable for working but am now confused may I use it for this purpose because I heard that Struts' action is single-threaded. If action is single-threaded, does it mean that hundred requests will make a queue and wait for each other's I/O processing completely finishes before getting next request? If so, then I shouldn't use Struts but ordinary servlets, right?
Any hint will be very useful, thanks in advance!

Same problem here (I also do panoramas).
Actually I can't even import my files into Aperture.
Other, slighly smaller, files (PSD or TIFF) show similar problems than yours just that my Previews or Thumbnails decide to turn blue, displaying the "Unsupported format" message - after sometimes weeks of working fine.
But anyway, most of my files are usually too large to save out from Photoshop as PSD or even Tiff. PSB is unfortunately not supported by Aperture (according to the tech specs) and Aperture cannot indeed see the .psb files …
I shall hope that larger files in general and the large file format will be reliably supported by v3 (likely out right after Snow Leopard).
My current workaround:
For processing large size files I avoid Aperture altogether anyway, using Bridge/Photoshop (+ Photomatix and/or PTgui) instead.
Frankly, for me this combination works pretty well.
The final image will be saved out as HiQuality JPEG for Aperture, solely for the purpose of file management.
That JPEG will be stored in the same folder as the .psb and the other files (braketing and/or pano images). So by using "Show in Finder" I can quickly find the Photoshop original.

    I've fixed the problem - I think.
I forgot I had the program "Little Snitch" installed on my computer. So I went into it and saw that it was blocking most of my connections for all the programs I use on a daily basis. Once I lifted the RULE to those certain programs - BAM - everything came back to life in an instant!

I had my MBP near two finger length magnets and someone told me that its not good for computers! Anyone's opinions on this cause my computer seems fine?

Don't worry about it.  The MBP has built-in magnets.  Does magsafe power connector ring a bell?  The motor inside of the hard drive has a magnet.
You would need an extremely powerful magnet to affect a hard drive.  I'm sure the electromagnet they use at a scrap yard to pick up a car could do it.
A long time ago I tried to erase some floppy diskettes by placing a magnet directly against the outer cover of the diskette.  It had no effect on the recorded data.

  • Starting a car constantly is not good for the engine

So then should you leave the lap top on 24/7 or would it be better to shut it off when not used for more than 3 hours. Or is stand-by better for overnight rather than turning it off?

Great question wm...there is no one standard practice, all in the owners desire for either a rapid return to last used session, ability to flip open and process new items, essentially convenience.  With the improvements made in the past years of integration of components, heat dissapation, better battery construction-ion style an improvement for sure, only the individual can decide.
He is something which can generally be stated:  Where you live makes a difference-sand dust, high humidity, POWER OUTAGES/SPIKES.
Do you want to avoid viruses?  Although you have a good AV product, the internet connection can allow hacker to get in riding the premise of allowing email to be consistently downloaded. Remember the automatic update cycle you created time line input?  Keeping the unit cleaned-free of dust mites around fan and exhaust areas, unplugging external devices, and a number of other preventative measures can be listed.  Individual does as one likes.
I know-so what does Defender do..I unplug the unit from house outlet just as an old school precaution.  Seen too many of the LCD screens loose pixel ratio.

  • Panel not resizing for high-resolution monitors

Received this in an email from a person using an HTML5 panel:  "What I'm seeing on a high resolution monitor (3840x2160) is that the panel doesn't resize to fit its container."
The container for the panel is appears to have scaled up, but the panel itself is tiny within this container.
The pixel dimensions on which the panel was built (and what's coded into the HTML for the panel) makes the panel the correct size on "normal" monitors, but it doesn't appear to up rez for high-resolution monitors.  The user can scale the rest of Photoshop's menus and panels using some interface in the OS, but the panel doesn't scale.
Anyone have any thoughts on this weather or not it's possible to get panels to up-rez for high-resolution monitors?
    Thanks.

Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC and Indesign CC have 200% scaling…
Inconsistency between or among applications in the artificial "suites" should come as no surprise.
The "suite" concept is a fabrication of Adobe marketing and bean-counting types.  The engineering teams are totally independent of each other, they are not only in different buildings but in different cities and states of the American Union, even in different countries.
The fact that they have little if any communication among them is highlighted by requests occasionally made in these forums by top Adobe engineers to let the other teams know when there are problems in one application that impact our workflow in another one.

    Hi Venkat
i suggest you to go thru the dev guide ..... but to answer your question i would say....
**** It looks like "Define Information Template" form only accepts Independent Value Sets and not table based Value Sets (thatinvolve SQL statements).
Well in OAF to display a dropdown list all you need is a query .. so one can write a query to extract the values from a independent value set .... but the same is not possible with table type value set instead you can use the same query used to define the table type value set .
You can create a LOV (one with flash light) even with a independent value set ....
To create a LOV you need a View Object(query which will fetch valid records) and a Public Region (to display)
if you ahve these then you can achive the requirement thru personalization
if the VO and Region are not present then you have to create them .......
Once you are thru the dev guide please go thru the link below which shows adding a lov to an existing page thru personalization....

    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
        1.    Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
        2.    After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
        3.    Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
        4.    Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Firmware update 7.4.2 for Airport Extreme not good for networked HD LaCie

I updated yesterday my Airport Extreme first generation to 7.4.2 and I started getting issues with my network HD drive LaCie 500GB connected to the AE via USB port.
It works, but suddenly gets disconnected and unmounted, creating issues for time machine and all the applications which are storing info on the networked HD.
Further more, if I open the Airport Utility, the information about the AE won't load untill I completely shut down or disconnect (plug out the USB cable) the LaCie HD.
Only way to get the HD back online and visible is to shut it down and restart it. Quite annoying. I have NO ISSUE now that I downgraded back to the previous 7.4.1 firmware.
Anybody has same issue? I am using the AE in N mode 5 Ghz. Right now I am not upgrading to 7.4.2.

I had the same problem with wireless TM backups loosing their connection to an AEBS-N running 7.4.2 with a 1.4TB Seagate FreeAgent airdisk. Restarting the cable modem and AEBS did not work. Reinstalling 10.5.7 did not work.
What did work was reverting to firmware 7.4.1 on the AEBS-N.
Here is the TM Buddy log before with 7.4.2 which shows the reoccurring TM backup failure 19 and the disconnect -36:
