Subscript and superscript fonts

How did a program made for engineers and scientists make it 20+ years and not allow for subscripts and superscripts to be displayed.  E=MC2 is really not all that powerful. Are there no chemistry math or physics applications developed. One nice method for implementing this is to add an additional mode to string display called markup bhere simple tags could be added around characters to alter their appearance much like is done in HTML.

> because most fonts have the square as plain character.
Try to do that cross-platform. LV windows uses extended ascii, linux uses UTF8. You have to end up with a "square character constant" VI containing the platform dependent conditional code, i.e. \C2\B2 for utf and \B2 for ascii, or anything the like. Besides, the characters available that way are very few. Advanced unicode tables have many more glyphs, but their font support may be minimal; and anyway LV notoriously doesn't support unicode yet.
As a scientist, I second by far a pseudo-latex interpreter (like Matlab) than an html one. The typesetting capabilities of the former are superior by far, even if only a subset is to be supported. Of course, such an interpreting mode will have to be toggled, by a "Latex Display" check option, or such.

  • How to put in subscript and superscript characters

    Hi:
Does anyone know how to insert subscript and superscript
characters into Dreamweaver. I am doing a site for an
engineering/manufacturing firm and I am trying to create a
subscript 2 like one would see in H2O. The "2" should be small and
lower than the "H" and the "O". I've tried creating one in WORD and
cutting and pasting but that will not work and when I use the
2 code that does not seem ideal as it tends
to slightly push down the line below once the character is in and I
don't feel like changing the line spacing on the entire site. The
other thing I can't seem to do is make a tiny "Registered" ®
character. Simply cutting and pasting from WORD, the small
superscripted symbol gets made into a large ® once I paste it
    in. Can anyone assist?

Add this to your CSS -
    sub { position: relative; bottom: 0; left:.2ex; font-size:
    80%;}
    Then use the tag.

  • How to: Subscripts and superscripts in Pages for iPad?

I have a little problem with Pages on my iPad; I must realize a scientifical report and I need to use subscripts and superscripts. Are they present in Pages??? How can I attive them?
    Thanks.
    Best Regards
    Enrico Catanzani

Does Pages on the iPad have an Inspector panel? In the Mac version, it's a round blue button in the icon bar at the top of the window.
If you've got that in the iPad's Pages app, then you can use it to manually raise or lower the baseline of one or more characters, then use the font size to make them smaller. Superscripting after a numeral can be automatic (in the Mac version) by setting that in the Prefs.
You can probably tell I don't have my iPad yet.

  • Problem with subscript and superscript in tables when exporting in .pdf

When I put some words in superscript (or subscript) in a table, a bug occurs when exporting in pdf (whit export or print either). All the words in the cell after the subscript part disappear in the pdf version. The rest of the table or the document isn't affected. It's really strange and it has occured since I shifted for the 5 version of Pages...

It is a long standing bug in Pages 5.
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.

  • VO does not distinguish between subscript or superscript text

I find it strange that VocieOver in Mac OS X (10.5.8) does not distinguish between subscript and superscript. Subscript and superscript hold a lot of meaning and was wondering if there was maybe a setting somewhere that enabled subscript and superscript text to be easily identified.
    Thanks

Hello, man with the spoof hobbitname,
Try doing it the other way around: put your legacy instruments in the main folder, after you've removed the new ones with the same names - including their samples folders.
    *Like so:*
    +(the folders are empty - I don't actually have them)+
    It should work this way...

  • Cant apply superscript or subscript on opentype font (mac snow leopard/CS4)

For some reason when I try to apply the subscript or superscipt (or any style) on CS4 using snow leopard it does not seems to work properly.  For some fonts, it works for some characters (mostly numbers).
Is this an issue with incomplete fonts?

Opentype fonts is a set of characters and specifications...You mentioned right. Some opentype fonts can contain for example ligatures, glyphs or adittional specifications. Some open type fonts can contain subscript or superscript as glyphs, and others do not.
To paracially solve your problem, have you already tried to set a "faux" subscript or superscript?

  • Is there a way to create a subscript and/or superscript in FRS?

Is there a way to create a subscript and/or superscript in FRS?

I've done some more searching and understand there are programs that extract the info out of an email. I believe they are called email parsers. Anyone have any more info on this? If so, any suggestions for a program that I could use? Thanks again.

  • I have the Photography CC subscription and have downloaded fonts that worked for a while but now are gone--how do I get them back?

I have a Photography CC subscription and have downloaded some of the free fonts and used them initially but noticed now that they are gone--what do I have to do to get them back and why did they go away?

    Hi Joe,
You can download the fonts thru the Adobe CC app manager for Typekit. Check to see if they are listed there.

  • Creating subscript or superscript in a mail response.

I am attempting to reply to an email in the MAIL App.  I am having trouble making subscripts or superscripts that are required in my response.  Any help would be appreciated. I am using the Yosemite Operating System.

[Updated to solve Superscript, Subscript, and Strike-through text cases. - /viking]
Mail does not offer any Superscript, Subscript, or Strike-through style capability, but you can first create them in TextEdit, and then these styles will be available in Mail.
    TextEdit
    Superscript and Subscript
Type the arbitrary text "ka" (without the quotes). Select the letter "a", and then choose Format > Font > Baseline > Superscript. The character levitates. On the left end of the TextEdit toolbar, there is a ¶ selector button. Click this and choose Show Styles… .
In the styles panel, you will see the superscripted letter "a" and below it, the current font info and the term Raised. Leave Document Styles selected, and simply click the Add to Favorites button. A sheet will drop down allowing you to name this style, and I suggest you call it Superscript. Leave the two checkboxes unselected, and click Add.
The "a" is still selected. You want to return this to normal, so click the ¶ style selector on the toolbar again, and choose default. Reselect the "a" character, and now choose Format > Font > Baseline > Subscript. From the preceding ¶ style selector, select Show Styles… again. This time, it says that it is Lowered. Click Add to Favorites, and name this Subscript.
    Strike-through
While still in TextEdit, add and select an arbitrary word of default styled text. Choose Format > Font > Show Fonts. In the Fonts toolbar, there is a drop-down button offering single and double strike-through styles. Select Single for normal strike-through. If you want a red strikebar, choose the Color menu option, and pick red from the color chooser — before selecting Single from the strike-through menu.
Now, you have a word with a strike-through style applied. Select this word, and from the familiar ¶ style selection menu, Show Styles… again. Choose Add to Favorites, and when the naming sheet slides down, call it Strike-through, or Red Strike-through (if pertinent).
Now, Superscript, Subscript, and Strike-through are now selectable Favorites on your Show Styles menu.
    Apple Mail
Select the text that you want to apply a style too. Right-click on that selected text. From the pop-up menu, choose Font > Styles… . A sheet should drop down with Favorite Styles enabled. Click on the blue-arrows adjacent to Default. Choose Superscript, Subscript, or Strike-through as appropriate. When you click Apply, your preferred style is applied to the selected text.
When you want to resume with regular text, spacebar after your effect, and then do the right-click, Font > Styles… again, and this time, click Default and Apply. You will be back to a default font baseline.

  • Garbled greek symbols and superscripts in PDF - new try

    Hi everybody
I have troubles reading scientific pdf files where there are a lot of greek symbols and superscripts.
Sometimes, the display of the symbols is flawless, then the next time I open the very same pdf-file, all the symbols and superscripts are gone.
this is happening in Preview (default), Safari as well as Adobe Reader.
Carolyn Samit from Apple suggested to delete the preference files associaed with both Preview and Adobe Reader.
    ~/Library/Preferences.
    com.apple.preview.plist
com.adobe.Reader.plist <--- wording might be slightly different.
This was helpful, but it's only a temporary solution as the mess was back after about 2 weeks.
Anybody got an idea how to fix it permanently?
    Kind regards,
    Alex

    HI Alex,
Next time symbols and superscripts are MIA...
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari. If you can read the symbols and scripts, move that .plist file to the Trash.
One more thing that might help is booting in Safe Mode. That empties the font cache.

  • About Typekit, Edge Fonts and Google Fonts real utility for Web Designers

    Hello,
Perhaps it´s a simple situation for the majority of CC User but I´m a little bit confused about that. I have a TypeKit plan included in my Creative Cloud subscription. I have then the possibility of use Web Fonts included in Typeset (which is awesome, by the way). My problem comes when I try to use a TypeKit font for a client who does´t want to pay for a TypeKit plan and I can´t use the same font in the trial plan which is a great way of convince the client he needs TypeKit for a better typography access.
    So, my questions are:
There is available TypeKit fonts in Adobe Edge fonts too?
The only fonts available in Edge Fonts are Google Fonts?
How can I know if a specific TypeKit font is available in TypeKit Trial Plan too without searching the entire catalog filtered by Trial Library or in Adobe Edge?
Do you recommend to me a workflow in which I can use TypeKit fonts for clients avoiding the need to pay the client for that font? (it´s hard to convince him, not to use free alternatives like Google Fonts or Adobe Edge Fonts)
    Thanks in advance.

I haven’t tried it so this may be a shot in the dark but you might be able to hack into the CSS and use @font-face to call a local font.
Check the license of the font to be sure it allows this.

  • Where can I go to understand the subscription and ...

The policies are not clear, and I do not want to spend 3 hours reading.
I signed up in the US for Skype Premium.
I called 2 mobile phones (US) and my Skype credit (required for initial sign-up) was charged 7.2 cents for each call .... why?
The information about Skype premium says there are unlimited calls to mobile phones and land lines.
I am trying to buy an international subscription and cannot get the web site to process my order. In those cases where I can get the web site to process the subscription, Mastercard, VISA and Paypal are all blocked for Skype charges so it fails.
I am having no problems whatsoever with any other web site or services today.
This is not a warm welcome to Skype (and now I see the MS monster has consumed it).
