Subsequent to Yosemite or updates, my repeating calendar events can not be updated as before. When I update an event (of a repeating event) on my MacBook Pro; its reverts back when I shut it down and come back, and doesn't update other devices?
Has anyone experienced this and does anyone know a fix?

This is incredibly frustrating for me too!
I have a repeated monthly event for a discount at a store that is offered on the first Tuesday of every month. So I have a repeated event taking place on the 1st of every month. In the previous month I reset next month's date from the 1st to whatever date falls on the first Tuesday.
But ever since upgrading to Yosemite, I am experiencing the same problem as the original person who posted. The date saves on my calendar but does not sync to my iCloud. When I reboot the computer, the date reverts back to the 1st.
I'm thankful I don't have any events that needed to be tracked because ALL of my previous changes in the past have reverted back to the 1st of the month. I would have been in the same terrible situation as yaz999 in having to manually change every event in previous months.
Why hasn't this bug been fixed yet???!!!

I believe you've posted this multiple times. Once is all that's needed. Also, please don't use all caps. Aside from the fact it means you're shouting it's also harder to read than mixed case.
The error means a bad fan motor or the HDD has failed. In your case it's the latter.  You can try the following:
    Drive Preparation
    1.  Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
When formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Complete the OS X installation.

  • How do I take the zoom feature off my MacBook Pro? I have already went to System Preferences and turned "zoom" off in the Universal Access. I saw where someone said to use THREE fingers to double click... ??? Double click what? And 3 fingers?

What really cheeses me off here is that Apple isn't allowing users enough customization.  With each update of iTunes (and the OS and iOS) we're forced to give up something that worked well for the way we want to use the app and make do with fewer (and lamer) options.  If Apple keeps this up, they're going to start losing customers fast.  I mean if this isn't fixed soon, I'm pretty sure I'm going to give up on iTunes, and then I'll probably go ahead and get a Galaxy when I need to replace my iPhone.
What I don't understand about how they won't let users delete the list of available podcasts now is why?  How is this making it a better program?  I can understand that not all users are capable enough to right-click on a feed and select "Show all available episodes", so I can see why they want the complete list to be the default (and, surprise, it already was).  But to not give users the option to delete that list?  It's inconsiderate because it makes navigating feeds with a large back catalogue really frustrating.  I'm flabbergasted that no one at Apple considered all the podcast feeds that keep hundreds of episodes available when they removed this feature.  It smacks of rank incompetence.
What improvement were they trying to make here anyway?  There was nothing wrong to my mind about how podcasts were managed in previous versions.  Whatever improvement they were trying to make here, they should have realized that many users would at least want the option to keep things the way they were.
And reverting to a previous version is no solution.  I can't sync my iPhone with the new iOS without this update, and (while I do have some issues--specifically how you can't play podcasts in the Music app anymore) I do like the new iOS.

i have downloaded the latest version of safari only to be told that i can not use it on my version of os x (10.7.5). Is there any way to to revert back to the old safari.

Safari is part of OS X and isn't available as a separate download. How did you get a newer version than the one that comes with Lion?

  • Why does my MacBook Pro Force Restart After I Manually Shut it Down?

I don't understand. At night when I shut down my computer, the force restart screen comes up and its killing me. I always have external HD's plugged in, so I know this is not good for them either. Please help!

I would recommend that you run your Disk Utility. You can find this under Finder<Applications<Utilities and then Disk Utility. I have had fore restarts happen to me and after running this it went away. Just make sure you select the hard drive you suspect is giving you issues.
         Hope this helps!    - Nate

    hello asterfromscarbourough,
your Macbook Pro should have came with some discs. One for Installing the OSx and the other for applications. You must find these 2 discs to fully install the software on your computer. That is all I can suggest.

  • What is the last generation of Retina MacBook Pro that have replaceable parts such as hard drives and memory?

I am interested in purchasing a used (probably refurbished) Retina MacBook Pro. Probably from the Apple Online Refurbished store.
Can anyone tell me what generation of Retina MacBooks were the last that had upgradeable parts such as hard drives, memory, etc.? Preferable in the terms of month/year like Apple states in their refurb section. I am aware that  the remaining non-Retina MacBook is upgradeable.
As an example, here is a link to some I am considering:

  • If I bring up fire fox and not connected to internet I get and error when I shut it down and connect to the internet and bring firefox up it will not open unless I remove the prosses in task manager is this normal

when shuting down Firefox after not being connected to the internet the processes remains and I have to go into task manager and remove the process manually or I get a message that Firefox is already started and it will not come up

Sofar I have found (off internet),
A)that if you go into sleep mode, the wifi shuts down or powers down.
B)sleep mode must be disabled in order for wifi to continue.
C)you can check this by going into wifi and seeing the iphone every 20 seconds or so looking.
D)as far as handoff ,I still not to sure but I think BOOTH units must overlap each other in order to handoff from 1 to the other.
Show much bs on the web that I have to filter the pages and there not enough time in the day to go thru it all.

  • How do you turn on the laptop when it shuts itself down and the power button isn't working

How to I turn the laptop on after it has shut itself off

If you hold the power button down for 15 to 20 seconds and the machine still will not turn on, you should do one of three things:
    1.  Take it to an Apple Store for an assessment and estimate.
    2.  Take it to an Authorized Apple Service Center for an assessment and estimate.
    3.  Consider purchasing a replacement machine.

  • HT1237 My MacBook Pro freezes during startup. It shut itself down a few days ago and won't restart since then.

Forgot to mention, downloading a firmware update is not possible unless one has another way of starting the machine. (I'm posting this on my iPad.)

  • Why does my macbook pro "15 get a blue, black or gray screen and force a shut down?

    Macbook Pro 15 inch
    OS X 10.9.4
    2.4 GHz Intel Cor i7
    4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I have had my macbook pro for just over 2 years. About a week ago it started randomly giving me a blue striped, grey, or black screen. The fan pins up and won't stop and either the laptop shuts itself off or I have to force it off. When it restarts it is very slow and sometimes the fan kicks on and won't stop and the screen just stays white after the initial apple and spinning wheel screen, so I have force shut it down and try again. Other times it eventually loads and lets me in but everything responds slowly and takes some time to open. It has been getting worse and now I can't do things like watch Netflix or edit in Final Cut. I have an editing project I must get done this weekend. Any ideas or help? Thanks in advance.

Try running the Apple Hardware Test, not definitive but will pick up the obvious.

  • HT1386 I am trying to sync my iPod Touches calendar to my MacBook Pro calendar. I have been successful at syncing the events from my MacBook Pro's iCal to the iPod but haven't been able to sync the events from my iPod to my MacBook Pro. Is this possible?

I have an iPod touch that I often use to manage different events for work. I have been able to sync the events on my calendar from my MacBook Pro to the iPod touch successfully using wifi. What I really need to do though is sync my iPod calendar events to my MacBook Pro calendar. Is this possible? How do I set this up? It would be a huge help if I could transfer the events on my iPod calendar to my computers calendar. I currently have the wifi sync option on and have turned on the sync calendars option in iTunes. Thank you for your help!

For resetting the sync history on a Mac running Lion - 10.7.x if needed.

If you do not see the Sync menu in your menu bar, skip to step 7.
Hold the Option key on your keyboard, then click the Sync menu in the menu bar:
if you see the Sync menu but you are unable to open it, skip to step 8.
    Choose Reset Sync Services.
    Click Reset Sync History.
Test for the original issue. If the issue persists, or if you are unable to open the Sync menu, follow these steps:
In the Finder, choose Utilities from the Go menu.
    Open Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type or paste the following command on a single line:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsync .pl full
    Press Return.
Quit Terminal after the operation has completed (when Terminal returns to the command prompt with a $).
