Subversion--how to commit a lower version

Dear all,
i am using subversion as my versioning system. my project in the repository has incremented to version 21. however i found out that there has been problems with it so i checked out version 5 from repository and started working on it. after my version 5 was improved, i tried to commit it to repository but failed with out-of-date error(below), i am new to this, could someone help me with my case? and maybe some general pointers on the best practice of working with subversion or alike. thank you in advance!

Perhaps the best thing to do:
1). Check out the latest version.
2). In a different (temporary) directory, check out a copy of version 5 of the file(s) that you want
3). Copy the files you checked out in step 2 to the directory in step 1
4). Make any changes you need to and commit
It's no problem to have multiple versions in there (versions 6-21 in your case) with problems. Typically, you just check out the latest revision. I would highly recommend reading the Subversion book - it helped me a lot.

I have CSS11506 and current version is 07.50.1.03. I am going to upgrade it to version 08.10.2.05.
However, if the upgrade will cause any problem, I need down-grade to original version.
Could anyone advice me how to down-grade?
Does it use upgrade command again? if not, please advice me the procedure or URL.

You use the same command to downgrade indeed. The CSS can hold up to 4 different images, so make sure that in the #show installed-software you have the two images you want to keep.
Once you have upgraded, if you want to revert back to the previous version, do as follow:
CSS# conf t
CSS(config)# boot
CSS(config-boot)# primary boot-file
CSS(config-boot)# reboot
If for some reason you experience an issue and cannot access the CLI, then use the OffDm as follow to recover:

How to by pass downloading lower versions of Java Plugin ?

I have developed an applet which uses Java plug-in version 1.3.1. One of my friends is using 1.3.1.0.1a. I guess that this is the latest version. But program downloads 1.3.1 Java plug-in. How to bypass downloading lower versions of Java Plug-in if higher version is already installed on client machine ?
Can anyone of you help me in this regard ?

OK, I am still getting duplicate JRE/Plug-ins installed side by side after trying this fix. Here are the steps I took (windows 2000, ie6):
1. uninstalled JRE 1.3.1
2. manually installed JRE 1.3.0 from sun site, verified it was installed and corresponding plug-in appears in control panel.
2. modified applet startup page to contain "1.3" as suggested:
PARAM NAME="type" VALUE="application/x-java-applet;version=1.3"
(left html-generator-created page containing object tag pointing to 1.3.1, as follows:)

3. ran applet page. it proposed downloading 1.3.1.
4. responded 'no' to install. applet page opens blank.
5. closed and retried applet page, responding 'yes' to 1.3.1 install. that install runs fine, applet starts, but both 1.3.1 and 1.3 JREs and plugins are present on the workstation.
6. uninstalled 1.3 JRE, leaving 1.3.1 JRE, retried applet page. small black box appears in applet's place, and something appears to be downloading very very slowly.
7. uninstalled 1.3.1 JRE, retried applet page, allowed normal plugin download install, applet worked fine.
I have not yet tried specifying an earlier JRE in the tag, and having a later JRE already on the workstation, although I would not be surprised to see duplicate JREs installed in this case as well..
We have had sporadic reports of people having workstations that simply would not run the applet when multiple JREs were present after the autodownload forced by this applet page. Also, IS departments are not going to like having standard environments updated whenever Sun wants, much less having defective configurations created. There really needs to be a way to prevent this problem.
Note: I did not modify the classID/codepath part of the html-generator page with the above suggestion about MIME type, since I did not see how it could be done.
Any ideas?
Also, a comment was made that the html-generator becomes obsolete in 1.4 plugin. When will this be, and does this change modify the way the OBJECT tag is written, so that this problem doesn't keep occuring?

I accidentally bought the HD version of a movie for my daughter's nano. you can't watch HD on a nano. So I'm trying to figure out how to re-download the SD version. This help screen makes it seem like you can just correct the problem and just "download" the lower version. But when I follow the steps, I basically get to where I'm just having to actually purchase the other version. Do I have to pay to get the lower quality version after I've already paid for the HD version?

When you purchase an HD movie or show, in most cases the SD copy can be downloaded from your purchases area in iTunes. On the main iTunes Store page, go to Purchases under the Quick Links and then select Movies or TV shows as appropraite. Click the "Not On This Computer" button. Uncheck the "Download HD when available" box and you should then see the SD copies of the movies/shows and be able to download them.
Note that with digital copies from a Blu-Ray or DVD, if it comes with an HD copy, you normally cannot get the SD copy as well and have to purchase it separately if you want it.

This isn't official, but you would have to search your trash bin for a lower version of the application (backups on your computer move older versions of apps to the trash), then just delete the new app from your iDevice and iTunes, then drag the older app into iTunes and sync.

I have have a MAC OS 10.6. I downloaded dreamweaver in adobe creative cloud. It seems my mac does not support the new version of dreamweaver. I found a lower version that supports my mac os 10.6. Unfortunately when I open my dreamweaver it asks for a serial number and an option for a free trial for 30. So far, I am using the free trial. How can I use it using what I paid for in adobe creative cloud?

Which version have you installed no? , Does it give you the option to sign in From Help Menu (Help > Sign In) ?
If yes then click on Help > sign in and sign in with your Adobe Id and Password.
If not the go to the link below and install Dreamweaver CS6.
Download CS6 products
During the installation process you will get the option for serial number, trial or subscription. Select the option for subscription and sign in with Adobe ID and Password.
I would also advise you to upgrade Operating system so that you can get the benefits of the latest Dreamweaver versions.

How can I have 2 versions of Numbers but only 1 app? Read

This is the weirdest thing I ever saw. It's driving me crazy and making me look like fool.
In an earlier post I mentioned that something happened to my numbers. The window looked very different from this afternoon when I created 2 new spread-sheets. I must have sounded crazy to qinn below in my answer.
Now I clicked the Numbers icon in the dock and it opened to my original Numbers 09 (2.3). So I tried to open a sheet I created a few hours ago and it says I can't open that file, I need a later version of Numbers. OMG
Just a though so I opened the finder, went to the applications folder and I only have ONE Numbers.app. So I clicked on that and low-and-behold the new 3.2.2 opened!!!!!!!
How can I have 2 versions of numbers but only one app???? I thought I was going crazy. Now I know something isn't right.
HELP PLEASE!!!

I have already taken dump from oracle 9.0.2 database without using exp utility of lower verion and alo without running catexp.sql script prior to export.
Now i need to import this dump into 9.0.1 database.It gives error due to backward-incompability.
Is there any way to import without re-exporting whole database again using exp utility of lower version against higher version.

It is an unsupported scenario. I had to face it once with the same 920->901 versions. What I did was also absolutely unsupported at my own risk and it was a last chance action. I'll tell you what I did and how it worked for me, which doesn't mean it will work for any situation. If you open your file with a binary file editor you will see at the first file blocks a header that displays the export version "EXPORT:V09.02.00" This header is read by the import to check which version was used to generate the file and prevent an unsupported downgrade, I changed it to EXPORT:V09.00.01 and retried the import. A lot of error messages appeared, but it successfully loaded my information. I took the risk because I made sure this specific database contained just basic tables, indexes and version compatible objects and definitions, it was a testing environment, I didn't have the right Oracle version and there was no time to get it, and finally I had a bullet proof backup.

How can i transport a model built in higher version to lower version.(EHP1 to 700.14 of Portal)
Also, will all my fuctionality work there if it is transported?
I have imported a model built on higher version of Sandbox to lower version of Dev server by changing its version manually by opening the model in notepad.But after deployment i am not able to see any of the functionality working.Such as-I am not able to submit the data enetred in the data fields.
