Suggestion for CVS integration

The integration between JDeveloper and CVS is MUCH IMPROVED in the preview, but I would like to suggest the following. When commiting changes to CVS, I would like to get a list of the files to be committed BEFORE the commit occurs (which is the way the CVS client works). That way I have an opportunity to cancel the operation if I have inadverdently included a file. I should also be reminded if I fail to enter a comment. Again, this matches the behavior of the CVS client. (In the CVS client, failing to edit the temporary document containing the list of files to be changed and a place for the checkin comment causes the client to confirm the operation is to be continued.

When I turn on CVS integration and switch it to external CVS, then whenever I open the History tab of a file and select a CVS revision I get a crash dump dialog from CVS.
Same happens when I browse the repository and double-click a file in the repository navigator.

I did what he requested. I downloaded a copy of Zen RC9 and it crashed in the same way. I created client comm traces as requested and sent them to March Hare.
Let me point out again, that we all have vanilla copies of Scorpio on our machines. I only installed Zen RC8 and RC9 to see if the problem still exists with these versions.
I downloaded the PDB files for Scorpio and received the (now correct?) stack trace:

I couldn't download the PDB files for Zen (because there are none) but I assume that the crash trace will look the same.
I also unzipped a vanilla copy of JDev10.1.3.4 and CVSNT works well with that version (as reported by tilemahos). No problems opening a file from the CVS Navigator.
That strongly suggests that there is something wrong in JDev11, don't you think?

Please guide me the steps for email integration so that the emails are in syn with the WEB UI Interaction centre.Settings at the backend GUI are already defined.Actually in my case the Development system is not integrated with Email sync in WEB UI.I need to test the email functionality in Development system as steps I have followed are as below:
1)TCode :- SBWP,then I have created a mail & send it to email address which is defined in the SO28
2)TCode :- SOST,there I have clicked on my test mail,select it & click on execute button,green light appears & shows the message that the email is successfully forwarded.
Now when I open Web Ui,select my business role & then I go to inbox in the Navigation Bar,select email & click on search.Then it does not appear anything & shows search result zero.
Kindly suggest me the steps so that I can see my test email in Dev system Web Ui business role .

Suggestion for a needed Walkman app improvement

Dear Sirs,
Although I’ll sadly have to part from my Sony Z1 (for other issues reported on this forum and to Sony Xperia Care, namely the touchscreen issue), I would still like to leave a suggestion for the most underachieving app (imho) from a Sony Smartphone.
With the long tradition on audio excellence and the Walkman brand, I would suspect that it would be a strong point on a Sony Smartphone. Strangely enough, the Walkman app made me buy a third party app (PowerAmp) to get some basic functionality like I had on my old iPhone 3GS.
One of the most serious faults of the Walkman app is the lack of volume normalization between audio tracks. Although Sony does provide a workaround (which is nothing more than a dynamic range compressor), it doesn’t make any sense (imho) with today’s technology.
Replaygain (for instance) is a free (but very effective) way of normalizing volumes without degrading the sound quality. Many apps like PowerAmp have it, and even iTunes has a proprietary version of it built in on every device for many years now.
As I said before, this can be done with third-party apps and third-party media management software (like JRiver or the free Foobar), but by doing so, the user loses the integration provided by a unique manufacturer (Sony Media Go -> Sony Walkman).
I’m really just trying to help, as it gets harder to understand why Sony lacks on such elementary things audio-wise, when the same company has Walkmans supporting the highest definition audio formats available today.
I tend to relate Sony with high quality digital audio products, so it seems strange that this particular app is so rudimentary on these levels. The Walkman app is eye-candy, but it should also be “hear-candy”, which it isn’t.

As you can see, it's a bit more typing than before, but it sure looks better. I might shorten the names for the templates. I wanted to make them memorable so they are a bit long.
As you can see, the problem of i18n links integration was fixed, so you can use existing i18n template and combine with the new "Article summary" set.
I will modify the article about writing summaries to include those templates and examples.
EDIT: :oops: the i18n links in the article are just examples. Don't use them, since they lead to non-existing pages.
EDIT2: Okay, I've played around with the appearance of the summary box, but I'm at work now, so it's going nowhere. I'll play with it some more when I get home.

IWEB SUGGESTIONS FOR APPLE

First, if Apple actually takes the time to read these Discussions, let me say, "Thanks!" I love Apple.
Second, I don't claim to be an expert, nor do I consider myself a uber-geek with incredible technical prowess.
I've just been playing around with iWeb, and have some suggestions for future updates, another 'Wish List' if you will;
1. The improvements to iPhoto are numerous and impressive, but iPhoto could use just a more photo tweaking in the realm of jpeg sizing. This would help integrate it with many iLife apps, especially iWeb.
2. GarageBand, likewise, also keeps getting better and better, but it too could use a little boost in the way it deals with file size and the overall affect on one's system. Just having the old 'go to GarageBand Help' popup gets a little frustrating. Optimizing should be more directly accessible in the user interface.
3. Creating easy access to, and integration of third party 'add ons' would be a really great way to deal with the current iWeb blogging limitations. Just as with many other blog systems, users could choose which various plug in enhancements they want on their iWeb blog.
If Apple made blog plug-ins easy to do, everybody would win. As with FireFox, for example, a community of iWeb enthusiasts could help develop and build iWeb into a super powerful app, via such user chosen add ons. Perhaps iWeb could be 'opened' up just a bit more, to let some more community light shine in?
That's just my two cents.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong or just plain crazy, or post your own suggestions.

Define default for excel integration to report painter

The Excel opens with left to right display.
I want to display him right to left - but I cannot define right to left
as a default.

Thank you for the replies. I did resolve the issue above (K9 072), the account group gave me a cost center and cost element that was blocked for use. Once I usees a valid cost center and cost element, the error went away.
We are using SAP version 4.6
With that said... I did receive another error, "Enter a numeric value"

The valid cost centers are alphanumeric, not just numeric. For instance: IT1 is a cost center.
Can alphanumeric values be used? If so, how to I go about making them work with the upload in KP06?
I have looked at the layout in report writer (KP66) and I see no options on allowing alphanumeric values. However, I am very new to this and just may be missing it.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

- Configuration Wizard: PI Self Test for AEX
However when we were Checking the AEX Configuration as per help.sap.com
Check the registration of a business system for the Integration Engine Java in the SLD:
    Enter https://<host>:<port>/sld .
    Choose Start of the navigation path Business System Next navigation step Integration Engine Java <SID> Next navigation step Integration End of the navigation path.
    The pipeline URL must be: http://<host_fully_qualified>:<port>/XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?ximessage=true .
More information: SAP Note 1435392
for us the Pipeline URL is as below

and the rest " ?ximessage=true " is not there.
Also we ran the below wizard
Configuration Wizard: PI Self Test for AEX
and it finished successfully without any issue.
Any Suggestions what could be missing.

OER Atrifacts Store Setup and Configuration for CVS.

Hello,
My question is related to proper configuration of a CVS based Artifact Store in Oracle Enterprise Repository.
I've attempted to configure a CVS Artifact Store from within OER's Asset Editor (as described on page 27 of the OER Configuration Guide & pages 92-93 of the OER Admin Guide.) I have also ensured that this new Artifact Store is selected in the dropdown for the Submission Upload Artifact Store system setting on the OER Admin page. However, my configuration settings for the Store appear to be incorrect and I haven't found a CVS example that has been thorough enough to infer the proper settings.
So I'm hoping someone can assist me who has been through configuring a CVS Artifact Store for OER. I'll try to provide detailed information below with the hope that it may be of assistance.
First, analogous CVS settings that are configured for my standard CVS plug-in in Oracle Workshop. These settings are for the pserver protocol, but I think they will provide some value to someone who has experience in configuring a CVS Artifact Store.
The standard Eclipse CVS plug-in settings for our enterprise repository location:
Connection Type: pserver
User: sampleuser
Password: Pa55wd
Host: dev003
Repository Path: /cvs/Integration
This translates to repository location --> :pserver:sampleuser:Pa55wd@dev003:/cvs/Integration
(Which is the root of our enterprise CVS repository)
Now…within this repository location above there is a module (Development/OER-POC) that is located in:
/cvs/Integration/Development/OER-POC
…and checked out into a project called "Sandbox" located in the default workspace in Oracle Workshop.
Additionally, within the organization we also have HTTP access to CVS. This previous example XSD I just mentioned has an HTTP URI of:
http://dev003:8080/viewcvs/viewcvs.cgi/Development/OER-POC/src/schemas/ExtOfAddrRef/v1/ExtOfAddrRef.xsd?cvsroot=Integration
Now as I have attempted to properly set up the configuration for the OER Artifact Store I have "translated" the above information into the following entries on the Artifact Store setup screen:

SCM Location: Integration (??? Not sure if this has been inferred correctly. If not what should be specified here.)
SCM Type: CVS
Download Path URI Suffix: cvsroot=Integration (??? Not sure if this correct based in previous information?)
Download Path URI: (??? Not sure what should be specified here. I have inferred several logical options but they have not worked.)
Finally, when I referenced page 62 of the ORE Core Registrars Guide PDF the "Additional Development documentation" link (http://devwiki.flashline.com/index.php/B02831) states:
• "All files from an SCM will be URL addressable. The SCM (or a third party) must provide a way to get a particular file based on a URL. In other words, we are not going to use any client libraries to write code that will retrieve us a file from an SCM. "
• "Added concept of a 'download path' to an artifact store. For example, consider our development environment. Eclipse will have SCM information (i.e. cvs.flashline.com), eclipse/cvs project information (i.e. projects/framework/modules/com.flashline.geneva.rbac), and file/cvs file information (i.e. /code/com/flashline/geneva/rbac/base/RoleContextPersistBroker.java?rev=1.66). Using this info, a fileinfo's uri can be set. The artifact store will then allow us to specify a download base path such as http://cvs.flashline.com/viewcvs/viewcvs.cgi/."
To conclude my questions are:
1) Based on the comments in the Registrar's Guide it seems clear that the intent of an Artifact Store is purely for the support of downloading the physical artifact that corresponds to an OER asset. I would conclude that "Raw SCM" based Artifact Stores do not intend to support direct check-ins for the various SCM systems. (rather assets/artifacts in Eclipse would be manually checked in from within the IDE environment). If someone could confirm whether this is correct that would be much appreciated.
2) Based on the information I supplied for the example enterprise CVS repository...what would the appropriate settings be for these fields on the Artifact Store setup screen:
a) SCM Location
b) Download Path URI Suffix
c) Download Path URI
3) Since the "CVS" SCM Type does NOT specify fields for username and password (unlike when you select other potential SCM Types in the Store setup screen); how should one handle credentials in CVS repositories?

JDeveloper assumptions and CVS integration

It looks to me when I'm in Jdeveloper using CVS and I say 'Commit Project folders' or 'Update Project Folders' that Jdeveloper is selecting only the folders that are below the folder the .jpr is in not the folders that are actually in the project. Frankly, we do not want to store the .jprs in cvs overtop of the source tree. We have a single source tree and use cvs to split it up for particular projects see certain sections the whole thing is not under JDevelopers .jpr. How can I make JDeveloper CVS integration recognize that there are other folders that are peers to the folder the jpr is in? It looks to me like I have to now select all files in the System Navigator and do the update or commit or do it outside JDev.
ANy ideas?

I have setup an OAM authentication scheme that uses a custom plugin to use RSA ACE server - all pretty much exactly as it is outlined in the chapter called "Integrating the RSA SecurID Authentication Plug-in" in Oracle Access Manager Integration Guide. Here's the problem:
Everything works fine when I use a particular UPN suffix to login to the RSA Securid Login form that is presented, eg. [email protected], but if I create another user that uses a different UPN suffix as defined in Active Directory, (eg. [email protected]), the credentials are rejected. This happens before the secuirid.pl script even gets a chance to run. After hitting "POST" the user is present with the same login screen he was just at, as expected during an authentication failure.
More info:
- I have performed successful anonymous ldap queries for both users in Active Directory using LDP. Both users exist in the same domain and in the same OU. If I change the UPN (in AD and the RSA database) to something different from the "good" one, on either user, it fails. If I change the UPN to the "good one" on either user (in AD and the RSA database) it works.
- if I test users with either the "good" or the "bad" UPN via the RSA agent tester that sits on the OAM box, both of them show as authenticating successfully. However, it doesn't work for the "bad" UPN when I try to access via a web browser on a remote client (but does work with the "Good" UPN)
- I am not using SSL in any of this yet, it's all http://
- yes, I already got rid of the "-w" parameter in the first line of the perl script, as per the "login can fail if the Login Attribute Contains an "@" Character in Integration Guide Troubleshooting section

What are the logs you see at the ACE server end? You can try passing an additional parameter debug="true" to the authn_securid plug-in - it should generate some more logs at the access server - I think in apps\common\bin.

If that's a problem with your cable company, change the company.
If your cable company is not able to provide you with a cable modem which gets you full performance for their service why would you bother with that company or try to make it better than them?
If you subscribe to a 100 Mbit/s service they must be able to provide you with a modem that does 100 Mbit/s and be able to demonstrate you 100 Mbit/s on your cable.
If they are unable to provide you with a modem which does 100 Mbit/s and thus cannot demonstrate that the service they have installed in fact can do 100 Mbit/s but only give you a 50 Mbit/s because that's the best they have, why bother buying yourself a better modem to find out whether or not their service does what it promises or not??
In addition, an integrated device won't get you better performance. On the contrary, consumer devices are generally single CPU (and core) devices. It's usually running some Linux or similar. If a single process gets overloaded it can drag down the performance of the whole device. For instance, let's say there is a bug in the print server software of the router. You print something and it hangs and the print server process on the router runs wild. Now the CPU is fully loaded and the routing performance will go down. If there is a bug in the routing software it will bring down the whole device and you can't even print.
You'll get the best performance if you use dedicated devices because then one device cannot overload another. Get a modem. Get a wireless ethernet router. Get a printer with integrated print server. That's far better.
It's like the all-purpose audio device compared to components...

CVS Integration with JDeveloper 10.1.2

I have upgraded to JDeveloper 10.1.2 from the previous version and CVS integration appears to be partially broken.
All my source files are checked in and I can confirm this with WinCVS which allows me to 'cvs edit' my source for update. In JDeveloper however the 'Edit' option is grayed out and I cannot edit the file as it is read only. All the source icons have a * symbol against them.
CVS integration worked OK in the previous version and the only environment change is the upgrade to JDeveloper 10.1.2
I wondered if anyone else had experienced any similar problems.

We have also experienced this problem. The pattern seems to stem from a Module Checkout (We use the connections tab to a remote pserver repository).
Expanding a project will mark all files with the * (modified) symbol. Even though we only just checked out the module.
If we try and Update (or Update with deletion) the item remains on the uncommitted files list, however the background cvs command worked without error (at this point there is no way of removing files from the uncommitted file list).
Additionally if we use ANT and create a new task like follows;

cvsRoot="${cvsroot}"
package="MyProject"

</target>
Then this reports all workfiles up to date with the repository (i.e. only a problem in what JDeveloper thinks is uncommited).
What I have noticed....
When the Module Checkout works I noticed the file named JDev under the CVS working folder looks as follows;
#Fri Apr 01 06:33:52 GMT 2005
universal_time_calibration=0
When it fails the content looks like this;
#Fri Apr 15 06:33:52 GMT 2005
universal_time_calibration=-3600000
(I suspect at some point it is getting this offset from my Windows settings - Australia GMT + 10hrs).

URGENT: Cvs Integration

I am currently struggling with the CVS integration within JDeveloper 9.0.3. Maybe anyone can help ;-)
My configuration:
JDeveloper is installed on a W2k worstation, the cvs server resists on a linux server. We currently use the cvs client "Concurrent Versions System (CVSNT) 1.11.1.3 (Build 57j) (client/server)" provided by cvsnt.org, those folder path is listed in the environment variable PATH.
We must use SSH for the connect to the CVS server on the linux machine. Therefore, we configured an external locator which is ssh2.
We successfully established a connection via WinCVS and SSH to our CVS server.
We have been working on integration of JDeveloper with CVS since a few days - with little success. When JDeveloper starts we receive the typical CVS message pane, and the source control entry within the context menu is also available - by this means JDeveloper could successfully access the CVS client. When we try to create a CVS connection we run into some issues. We set the external locator to ssh2.exe with the remote server program cvs.
We also set the configuration parameters properly for our connection, so that our CVSROOT variable seems to be ok (real names replaced by placeholders):
:ext:<<username>>@<<ourCVSServer>>:/usr/local/cvs.
But when we try to make a test connection then the following issue occurs:
1. The external shell pops up where we enter the password
2. one or two seconds delay
3. Error message in wizard: Connection test failed: unable to connect.
I don't have any clue how to solve this.
My questions:
- Did anyone get connected to a CVS on linux machine via SSH within JDeveloper?
- if yes, how did you do this?
- what am I doing wrong?
I appreciate every hint or installation step procedure.
