Suite Product Activation Needed for Acrobat after uninstalling CS4 for CS5 upgrade

I've done a download for CS5. It did have the download for acrobat but it didn't install as it wasn't required as I've got CS4. However, I needed to unistall CS4 to create more disc space. Now the acrobat dopesn't work. I went back to download and tried to download the CS5 (although I know it's the same) because it keept shutting dpwn aftyer an error stating that it's a suite product and needs activating - blah blah blah open photoshop or another suite component - nothing. How'd you get this working, please?

  • Help-"Suite Product Activation Needed"-Acrobat Pro CS5

    Hello.
I searched the forums but no one seems to have this problem (or I missed it).
    See enclosed JPEG. It says,
    "Suite Product Activation Needed
Adobe Acrobat was installed as part of a suite. To enable Adobe Acrobat, please start another component of this suite (such as Adobe Photoshop)."
Yes, I entered in the CS5 serial number and activated the suite through Photoshop. Yes, I entered in the separate serial number for Acrobat. It was accepted but then gives me the activation error. Yes, I tried deactivating CS5, rebooted, reactivated CS5, relaunched Photoshop CS5, relaunched Acrobat, and... same error.
Anyone have a solution? (other than trying to uninstall and reinstall the Suite which I really don't want to do)
    Rudy

I was having the same problem, having just migrated CS5 Design Standard to OS X 10.7, Acrobat 9 stopped working and gave the error 'Suite Product Activation Needed' which did not work...
a (very helpful) discussion on livechat with Adobe suggested:
    1. changing the name of cache.db in Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD to cache.old, then trying to start Acrobat
if that did not work, try
    2. deleting the FlexNet Publisher folder in Library/Application Support, which when you try to start Acrobat should now allow you to re-enter the serial number
    worked for me, anyway...

  • How do I perform a "Suite Product Activation" so that Acrobat will start working on my new Retina MacBook Pro?

How do I perform a "Suite Product Activation" so that Acrobat will start working on my new Retina MacBook Pro?
Like others, I have recently upgraded my MacBook Pro to the next generation and migrated all my information from old to new. Everything works seamlessly EXCEPT Acrobat. Photoshop, Indesign, Bridge and Lightroom all seem functional. Acrobat hangs with an error message "Suite Product Activation Needed. Acrobat was installed as part of a suite. To enable Acrobat, please start another element of the suite (such as Photoshop)." Needless to say, starting another element of the suite has NO impact on Acrobat.
This has to be a common problem. Now that Apple has made it really easy to migrate information from old to new machines, it has to come up all the time. What surprises me greatly is that I can't find any coherent answer in these forums.
So how do I get Acrobat running again?

    Hi Anubha,
I do not understand what you said below.
I am running Adobe Acrobat Pro Version 9.5.5. I do not remember whether it came with Photoshop or InDesign.
When I open Photoshop, it opens without my having to follow any instructions to activate the software. As a matter of fact, I cannot find my Photoshop serial number anywhere in the Photoshop program itself. I do know it from my profile at Adobe.com. Are you suggesting I deactivate Photoshop on the new computer and then reactivate it using my serial number? Will it reactivate?
    When you say
"/Library/Application Support/Adobe" at the root level of the startup disk (not the Library folder inside a user's Home folder)
what do you mean? I do not have a startup disk. I have the original installation disk but that version of Photoshop has been updated a few times.
After staring at your instructions for a while, I realized that you might be talking about the Library/Application Support folders resident on my Macintosh HD, although why you called it a startup disk is unclear to me. IAC, I went into those folders and duly moved the three folders into a new folder I called “Acrob1” and restarted Adobe Acrobat 9 and got the following error message: “AMT Subsystem Failure  The licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically. You must reinstall of call customer support.” with a small (6).
By undoing my actions I am back to the staus quo ante.
    Now what?
    Regards, Robert

  • I get this error: Suite Product Activation Needed

    Suite Product Activation Needed
you: "Adobe Acrobat was installed as part of a suite. To enable Adobe Acrobat, please start another component of this suite ( such as Adobe Photoshop)"
Running Adobe Creative Suite 4 on Windows 7
    I have tried:
    1) Uninstalling and re installing
    2) Adobe Acrobat license repair tool
    These have not worked.
Are there any other steps required to take ?
    Thank you Graham

When I try that, I get a choice of deactivating permanently or in suspension. I have tried suspending activation but that seems to have no effect. I can continue to use Photoshop normally. I am reluctant to try permanent deactivation without a more complete understanding of what happens next. If I were to deactivate permanently, my suspicion is that, when I next opened Photoshop, there would be no option to Activate and I would be left with a dead Photoshop product and still no Acrobat.
Also you talk about the original suggestion. Where is that suggestion made?

  • "Suite Product Activation Needed" (Acrobat Pro 9.5.0)

Like several people have on this forum, I upgraded to Lion a few weeks ago with no issues, but trying to launch Acrobat Pro today resulted in this:
I've searched the forii, tried several possible solutions, and all have met with failure so far. I'm running OS X 10.7.3, and the CS5 suite; the version of Acrobat Pro is ostensibly 9.5.0. Is there anything else I can provide that would help turn this around quickly?
    —Ken
(P.S. Excuse the screen name. It wasn't accepting my usual one, nor a formal name, and that's what I chose in exasperation—which, of course, it took and now won't let me change.)

OK, got a new solution; This problem plauged me for months and yesterday I finally stumbled on an answer, and it was NOT on Adobe's site - but what took months of Adobe chat techs keeping me busy for hours trying solutions that didn't work, this worked in seconds.
This is with CS5, Acrobat 9.3.0, which are both part of the CS5 Design Premium suite upgrade I purchased, and this is on OS X 10.8.2, Mid 2010 iMac with 3.2GHz Intel i3.
I got this solution from this website:
    http://blog.erikphansen.com/adobe-cs4-error-15030-aka-i-hate-adobe-reason-34/
I made my own list to detail what I did; your mileage may vary:
First step is to make sure all products are installed, including Acrobat Pro.
The next step is to download the license repair tool from Adobe at
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/licensing.html
Next, locate the cache.db file from the Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD/cache folder, and throw it in the trash.
Next, locate the Flex net Publisher folder in the /Library/Preferences folder and throw it in the trash.
Now, mount the dmg file downloaded from Adobe.
Go to Applications/Utilities and launch the Terminal application.
    Enter the following:
    cd /Volumes/LicenseRecovery\ 11.6.1/LicenseRecovery/
    sudo python LicenseRecover.py
    and hit Enter.
    Enter password when prompted.
(There are instructions for multiple attempts, but this only took one try for me.)
    At the ?, hit Enter.
This only took a few seconds and the process completed. Please note, the file warned of a processor error code but the file completed successfully anyway.
I then opened Acrobat Pro, and was presented with a registration dialog box to enter the serial number. I entered all information requested.
I then opened Photoshop, and was presented with the dialog box to enter the product serial number. In the course of this I also had to enter the serial from the upgraded product, which I just happened to have gotten out of storage "just in case".  I entered all information requested and Photoshop opened.
I then opened Dreamweaver, and was presented with a dialog box to enter my Adobe ID, or to create a new account. I entered my current account information and Dreamweaver opened.
I then opened all other CS5 Design Premium apps and all opened successfully. I have since then updated all apps to current updates.
I should also mention that I tried to update Acrobat over the web automatically but had a problem that required me to restart to clear the screen of the Safari plug-in dialog box. Investigating the website, it appears that each update to Acrobat Pro 9 required the previous update before it, so I went and downloaded all of them and installed them one by one. It all works now as it should.
Hope that helps somebody, this whole thing drove me crazy and had me looking for Adobe alternatives!

  • Suite Product Activation Needed

Whenever I open an Acrobat Reader, I always get the message "Adobe Acrobat was installed as part of a suite. To enable Adobe Acrobat, please start another component of this suite (such as Adobe Photoshop)". I tried opening Photoshop before opening Reader, but I still got the error message. I thought perhaps for some reason some start-up things were disabled so I went to MSCONFIG. I see that I have enabled:
    Adobe Acrobat
    Adobe Version
    Adobe Version Cue CS4
    Adobe CS4 Service Manager
    Adobe Version Cue CS3
    Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager
AcroTray - Adobe Acrobat Distiller helper application
I am running Windows 7 Professional.

    Thanks for your prompt reply.
Unfortunately opening all the other programs in the CS5 Suite don't help or
solve the Verification problem with Acrobat in the same suite.
It may be worth mentioning that I'm still running CS3.. I don't know if that
could be a cause. I need to share work across stations using CS3.
Should I re-install the suite or call adobe?
    Many thanks Brett

  • Suite product activation needed when I try to launch Adobe Acrobat?

Whenever I try to open a document using Adobe Acrobat, I am advised that I need to enable it by opening another app within the Suite.  When I try to do that, the program closes and I am in an impossible loop, never able to read the document.  What am I doing wrong?

  • Acrobat Suite Product Activation Error Message

I have Mac OS X 10.6.8 and updated Acrobat Pro to 9.5.1. All of the sudden (not anywhere near the time that I updated) I started getting the "Acrobat Suite Product Activation Error Message". Then it closes and quits.
Launching Photoshop (or having it open) does nothing. The other similar forum discussions seem to concern Lion, which I don't have yet. Solutions?

The Acrobat X Suite has Acrobat X not Acrobat 9 Pro.  So it begs the question do you have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended?

  • Do you have an installer for Acrobat 6.0 Standard for Mac???

Please help me!  Can you send me an installer for Acrobat 6.0 Standard for Mac???  The Acrobat Customer Service "help" says this is the only way I can get my Acrobat going again.  It won't bother YOUR installer to share it with me.....and I must use MY OWN SERIAL NUMBERS to connect with them, so they say there's no way it could hurt you......but it would really help me!
I reinstalled my system software, and my Acrobat got corrupted in some way which will not let it communicate properly with Adobe.  I cannot upgrade because this is the only version compatible with my other software.  Please help, and send me the installer so I can get working again.  I'm grateful for anyone who can help.  Thanks, Jane.

I'm sorry you distrust me and the person from Acrobat.   He does not
usually work on the Forum, and was trying to help me as Adobe thinks this is my
only solution.   One of the other Acrobat customer service people had
suggested it, and someone had replied that perhaps he could help.   I guess you
misunderstood his posting because he was not trying to say my software had been
"trial" , he was using that as an example.   I bought, own, and have been
using my copy of Acrobat 6.0.4 since I bought it directly from Adobe in
2004........I had something happen with my operating system, and now I need to
reinstall it, but Adobe erases the installers from people's systems after 3
years.   It was the Adobe Customer Service Techie help line that suggested this
"solution".   I have my own serial number etc.......it just won't connect
to Adobe without some teensy missing part of something from the installer
software.   The only "standard" versions I see out there for sale, are for PC,
not Mac.   If you know of something else, I'd be grateful for the info.
    Thanks for your interest.   Jane.

Nice try, but I'm not stupid seeing how that was your first post, and I
would expect an employee working the forum to have a lot more posts than
that.  Also, the Acrobat 6 installer was never done as trial software.  That
option only came about with later software as is done currently.  You do
need a serial number to install it or it will not install anything.  If you
need the installer so badly, you can get it at Amazon: http

  • What Macbook would be perfect for me? What would best suit my activity/needs?

    I currently have a Toshiba L650 Satellite.
I'm an 18 year old female, and I want to buy my very first macbook.
As Macbooks are expensive, I want to get the perfect one for me.
    I use my laptop for:
    -Photoshop (I edit a lot of pictures/gifs/etc)
-Photo's (lots of photos I take on my camera I store on my computer, this also means I want an SD card slot)
    -USB plug ins.
-Music (So I want to be able to put discs in my computer)
-Storing videos. (Average amount, not lots, just average amount of videos)
    -Word documents I use often.
-Internet (I spend A LOT of time on the internet - facebook, youtube, social networking, browsing, etc. My laptops main use is the internet and photos)
-I watch some TV shows on it, like Vampire Diaries, etc sometimes.
-I'm not really a gamer. I do, however, play the sims 3 ocassionally and I'm thinking about buying Skyrim, but don't know about this one, maybe not.
-I webcam a lot too. Via Facebook generally. But sometimes Skype too.
    & I think that's about it.
What would be the better Macbook for me?
I was looking at either the Macbook pro 13" or the Macbook air 13" - but don't know which one or if neither of these would suit me.
I like my computers to run fast and I like as much memory as possible. However, on my current laptop I've only used 83gb I think. It says total space is 583gb and there's 500gb remaining so I think that means I used 83gb?
On my new laptop, I want to store a bit more stuff than that though. So what is best for me?? What MAC is best for me??
I don't know a lot about computers so you may need to explain thoroughly for me to understand better.

Most of your list could be supported by either MacBook you listed. I think if you are a heavy user of Photoshop that you will find the MacBook Pro to be the better solution.
You version of Photoshop that you have on your Toshiba will not run  on the Mac and will have to be replaced with the Mac version. Adobe may make you a deal on the Mac version. Call an ask their sales staff what they can do for you if you want to stay with PS.
Seeing as how you are planning on switching platform, you may want to check out two applications from Apple before you switch which are iPhoto and Aperture.
The first iPhoto will come with you Mac and is a way of storing photos and doing simple editing on them. It is very well integrated with the rest of the software on the Mac.
The other is Aperture. This is an extra cost item that is for the more serious user. It is capable of much more powerful edits on your photos.
