Sun corba service set time out
Hi im coding a corba client service using sun default library(without using any 3rd lib. e.g jacorb /visibroker). Is there anyway to set client timeout. This is to solve when server is down then my client won't hog the thread and keep the connection active. As of now if the host is down, i will wait forever, the timeout from sun is very unconsistence
Thanks a lot for your reply, I guess im kinda confusing. Maybe you can help me and enlighten me a bit. my problem here is i need to set timeout. With weblogic default timeout. THe time out is actually not consistence, from 0- 50 minute.
below is my snippet of code.
If im not setting any properties or system variable then the system will run default
code set 1.
myOrb = org.omg.CORBA.ORB.init(args, null);
System.out.println("After System org.omg.CORBA.ORBClass:"+System.getProperty("org.omg.CORBA.ORBClass"));
System.out.println("After System org.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass:"+System.getProperty("org.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass"));
-- print line result.
After System org.omg.CORBA.ORBClass:weblogic.corba.orb.ORB
After System org.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass:weblogic.corba.orb.ORB
it still print weblogic.
code set 2.
Properties prop = new Properties();
prop.put("org.omg.CORBA.ORBClass", "com.sun.corba.se.impl.orb.ORBImpl");
prop.put("org.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass", "com.sun.corba.se.impl.orb.ORBSingleton");
//prop.put("com.sun.CORBA.transport.ORBTCPReadTimeouts);
myOrb = org.omg.CORBA.ORB.init(args, prop);
-- print line result.
After System org.omg.CORBA.ORBClass:weblogic.corba.orb.ORB
After System org.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass:weblogic.corba.orb.ORB

Try out this thing: I am not sure as I have not done this.
Go to this link: http://<server>:<j2ee port>/nwa --> System Management --> Overview --> Configuration
Application Resouce ( Select your resource from the list)
Check for "Connection Pooling".
Here you can check different options. -
How to set time out in the abap program?
Hi,
I want to set the execution time in the IN_UPDATE block of a BADI, could you tell me how to code that?
When the specified execution time reaches, and the badi is still running, then pop up a window and tell the end user the time out message.
Does SAP have any function regarding this? Thanks in advance.You can have the INPUT be a number of seconds, then calculate the max endtime = SY-UZEIT + INPUT. Have checks throughout the program that returns an error as OUTPUT if exittime >= SY-UZEIT(current time).
There may be an easier way but this is all I can think of as a user set timeout option. -
Setting time outs for a secure connection
I am researching on setting up a secure application incorporating two authentication
mechanisms:
a) Mutual Authentication to verify certificates
b) RDBMS Security Realm to validate username/password combinations
I desire a time out to take place after an hour of dormant time passes on the
connection forcing the user to re-authenticate. Any suggestions on how to configure
such behavior? I have been digging around the documentation for a while now and
I have not found anything specific controlling this time out duration.
Thanks for the help.

Location Services: Setting Time Zone... Always Active
Just wondering if anybody else is experiencing the always active SETTING TIME ZONE setting in LOCATION SERVICES / SYSTEM SERVICES.
It's always purple - never stops polling for location.
I've noticed a change in the battery life for my iPhone 4 and I think this is the culprit.
Is that setting needed for anything in particular or can it safely be turned off?
Thanks for any advice you have!Grrrrrr, now (after the iOS 5.0.1 update), this is happening not only on my iPad, but also on my iPhone 4S, which never had the problem on iOS 5.0. So, instead of going from 1 to 0 devices having the problem, I've gone from 1 to 2 after the update! Isn't this the opposite of what was supposed to happen?
Letting the iPhone sleep for a while, shutting it off and turning it back on, resetting it with home+power, all do nothing. Weirdly, it *wasn't* doing this right after I did the update; it only started about a day or so later.
****Update: and now it's off again, but it did come on for about 10 minutes and then turned off again. Hmmmmm. I agree that having the status bar icon enabled is a good idea, to at least be able to see when this happens and disable it if you're in a situation where battery life matters. -
Loading Large Data Set Times Out In APEX
I am trying to load a large text file using APEX 3 I am using a 1g file which has about 50,000 rows. After about 5 minutes the browser times out. Any ideas nothing in the alert log so it is not database related. Here is the error in the Apache Log
mod_plsql: Long running URL [pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept] timed outSteve,
The Apache process is timing out. Most likely this is set to 300 in your httpd.conf (the default).
You can extend it to more than 300, but if I were in your shoes and you had the proper access, I'd use some other means to load 1GB of data (e.g., SQL*Loader).

IPhone 4s Battery life, Location Services, Setting Time Zone
So, many threads and articles on the internet are claiming that turning off "setting time zone" in location services (under system services) solves their battery drainage issue.
I've tried turning off location services together with other things, and while there seems to be an improvement, I don't really think it is solving the problem completely in my case. For example, even after:
- a full iphone restore from iTunes
- no third party apps
- the phone in Airplane mode (no Wifi or cellular connectivity)
- all location services off
- iCloud syncing completely off
- Facetime off
- iMessage off
- bluetooth off
- WITHOUT using the phone at all
... I seem to be lsoing about 25 % of charge every nine hours, which extrapolates to 36 hours time, total.
... but this is with ll networking functions turned completely off (set up basically as an old-time PDA but without actually using it) and without turning the phone on.
Apple claims a time of 200 hours standby with all services on, connected to a WiFi access point with only "ask to join networks" set to the off position.
How is that possible?
Looking at my phone usage under General settings, even with all the networking functions turned completely off (as above), my phone is spending about 90 % of time "in use." But I'm not using it!
At least with this phone, it seems like not all is explained by the "setting time zone" service under location services. Even with the screen off, no networking functions, and limited functionality, it appears to be cranking away at something.
Can anyone else reproduce this?Grrrrrr, now (after the iOS 5.0.1 update), this is happening not only on my iPad, but also on my iPhone 4S, which never had the problem on iOS 5.0. Mail Services connection times out after 10.5.8 - 10.6.4 upgrade
I have been running a mail server on my macosxserver02.binghamton.edu (128.226.xx.x) for Podcast Producer email notifications only. The mail service has been running fine until I recently upgraded the server to Apple's latest server software: Snow Leopard Server (10.6.4).
After the upgrade I'm no longer able to receive mail to the mail server from outside it's domain (macosxserver02.binghamton.edu). I can send and receive mail locally from within that domain. I can send mail outside of the domain without any trouble to my personal email account [email protected], but not my work account: [email protected]. If I try to send from outside the domain -- say with my Binghamton Univ account -- the mail bounces back with this message:
Delivery to the following recipient has been delayed:

Message will be retried for 2 more day(s)

One thing to note about the .binghamton.edu domain is that we recently switched to Google Mail and .binghamton.edu is our branded domain within google.com.
DNS is managed on another server. I had an MX record added to my server this morning.
I have these ports open on my firewall: 143, 993, 25, 587 (POP is not enabled)
In ServerAdmin>Mail>Settings>Relay 'Accept SMTP relays only from these hosts and networks' is checked with
127.0.0.0/8
128.226.62.0/26 (my local subnet)
In ServerAdmin>Mail>Settings>Filters Junk Mail and Virus filtering is not enabled, so greylisting should not be a problem. I did confirm this line in main.cf: smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated permit_mynetworks reje ct_unauth_destination permit
10MB quota is set, Mailing Lists not enabled, Logging set at Information
In ServerAdmin>Mail>Settings>Advanced>Security I am not using SSL. I do have a valid certificate that I would like to use after I get this back up and running.
In ServerAdmin>Mail>Settings>Hosting 'Include server's domain as local host alias' is checked with
localhost
binghamton.edu
Virtual hosting is not enabled.

macosxserver02:~ academic$
Could someone please help me figure out what is wrong?
Cheryl Tarbox
Macintosh Support Specialist
Binghamton University
[email protected]I found two things that were causing my troubles.
First, port 25 on the switch going to the server was blocked. After this was opened I was able to receive mail to macosxserver02.binghamton.edu. Since this mail server is only used for Podcast Producer notifications, I'm hoping to have this port closed back down after I get Pcast Producer back up and running and fully tested.
Second, when the upgrade from 10.5 -> 10.6 was performed, in ServerAdmin>Mail>Settings>Domain Name, only the .binghamton.edu was populated in this field, not the full domain name of macosxserver02.binghamton.edu. This was preventing me sending mail to our Google branded .binghamton.edu email addresses. Apparently 10.6 was looking locally for all the .binghamton.edu email addresses.
A big thank you to Gordon for looking into this and helping me get this resolved.

How can I set time-out while accessing a url using URL object?
Hi
I'm trying to get the content of a URL using the following code. How can I set timeout
(example, 10 secs), if the webserver takes a while to respond.?
BufferedReader inbuf=null;
URL url=null;
try {
String urlString="http://host-machine/sms/index.jsp";
url = new URL(urlString);
inbuf = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(url.openStream()));
String inputLine;
String LongString="";
while ( (inputLine=inbuf.readLine()) != null)
LongString=LongString+inputLine;
retString=LongString;
inbuf.close();
catch (Exception e) {System.out.println(e)}
Thanks a lot for your kind help

Trying to connect to Web Services but times out. Configuration page suggests no internet connectivity although network modem/router is connected to the internet. Printer prints ok wirelessly through the network.
This question was solved.
View Solution.Let's set a static IP address and external DNS for the printer:
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') to 250
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Enter your router's IP (on the Network Config Page) for the gateway.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS. This is Google DNS. You can choose another external DNS if you wish.
- Click 'Apply'.
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

Environment: We are running SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition with Analysis Services. Reporting Services on a separate machine. Visual Studio 2010.
I have a Date dimension with a generated table named Time. To the table I have added custom columns to show Week_Ending and Short_Date_Alpha that are used in Excel Reports from the Analysis Services Cubes.
When I attempt to use this dimension in Reporting Services, it times out if I try to use it as a parameter. The report will run for 30 minutes, never surface the parameter selection box and then eventually time-out with an unknown error related to
the time dimension. This is in Visual Studio.
If I pull the dimension directly from the SQL table I can produce a report on it. If I run the full query for the measures with the default date selected it runs in seconds in the query builder. Here are 10 rows of the relevant
table structure:
PK_Date Date_Name Reporting_Year Reporting_Year_Name Reporting_Month Reporting_Month_Name Reporting_Week Reporting_Week_Name Reporting_Day Reporting_Day_Name Short_Date_Alpha End_of_Week_Name Week_Ending WorkDay

The dimension looks fine when I browse it. It produces the correct information in the Excel Reports, but I cannot get it to work in Reporting Services.
I have deleted dates out of the cubes and processed, then added the Time dimension back in and processed and it still won't work. I have a cube running off a table called Date and that seems to work.
Is the issue with the table name? With the custom descriptions? Something else?How would you best suggest limiting the time frame? Add a filter to the query so that the future dates are not part of the selection? I'm doing some data refresh in the data mart so won't be able to try limiting the selection
for a few hours.
Hi Diane,
Could you please let us know how many available values for your date parameter(the quantity of date dimension in SSAS)? One workaround that we can try to add an additional text parameter which will prefilter the available values in the large parameter list.
Here is similar thread about this topic for your reference, please see:

OC4J -Time out and Oracle sequence problem
hi
i m using OC4J to access application which is using java as front and
and we using oracle sequence with cache as 20.
so when i accessing application thro' network my sequence skip from 20
mean 1-21-41-61 is it possible due to if lost connection opened from java for oracle thro' OC4J ? will it keep cache ?or lost ? is it really time out error?
if then hw to set time out in oracle?
u can refer below link
Re: ORABPEL-05002i think i may be having the same problem. My table is savings entries out of order. I would assume that each row saved would be in sequence number order...instead it goes from like 963, 964, 678, 679, ....??? wonder why it would place new entries in front of older entries in the table???

Connection times out constantly.
When browsing in Firefox, it constantly times out.
Sometimes it does it after 15 mins and sometimes it takes an hour or better.
I need help, the only way to get it going again is to reboot and frankly that is getting old.Hi Carey,
Thank you for responding. No, we don't have any firewalls I think...Hmm strangely the crash doesn't seem to appear int he FTP Log. Here is the log from roughly the time of the "Operation Time Out":

It's just a little bit frustrating that it takes it 5 minutes to time-out. Is there any way to set time-out settings? Also, if you try and cancel out of the time-out that's when it just stops and you need to force-quit.
Thank you again for taking a look at this! -
Can we set a query time out at database level for the sql statements. For example can we set time out for 40sec for all the queries which runs under that database.
You will need to use a combination of CPU_PER_CALL and LOGICAL_READS_PER_CALL and create a profile for users you want to limit. Exactly what the parameters should be will be determined by expermentation. Start with CPU_PER_CALL 4000 and LOGICAL_READS_PER_CALL as 2000.
