Super Rip - X

I got two questions about the super rip feature on the X-Fi XtremeMusic:
. Is it possible to rip CDs into MP3 format while retaining the 24-bit/CMSS 3D enhancements? (I have an iPod so converting to WMA is useless to me)
2. I got an error message while using Rip (Not Super Rip) saying my CDROM doesn't support digital ripping. The thing is I've had no problem digitally ripping using other programs. Is there any way to fix this problem?Message Edited by Darklord250 on 0-3-2006 04:9 AM

No the superrip enhancements can't be put into MP3 directly, only into WMA or WAV. i know there is a trial mp3 command line converter and player but not sure if the software is commercialy avilable.
By any chance you use deamon tools v4.0.0. I only asked (may not be the same problem i had) because when i had version v4 installed it gave me that error about cd rom not supporting digital ripping but changing to version 4.03 solved the problem for me (only mentioning this but may not be the same problem i had).

  • Super-rip high bit-rate with x

hi everyone, i was wondering if anybody with the x-fi notice the high bit rate. mine is that high it will not play on a cd player in .wma or .wav, with or without cmss3d, i found that the bit rate i get without cmss3d it's around about 2200bp/s. when cmss3d multi channel it shots up to approx. 5500bp/s. medium settings. anyone else with high bit rates.

    thanx for any replies

    john_g,
If your CD player are not able to support/playback 4/6 channel Wave or WMA Pro/Lossless file. I would suggest you to super rip to normal WMA audio file instead. Choose CMSS-3DHeadphone option instead of CMSS-3DSurround. From there you should have an option of WMA with bitrate of either 92kbps, 256kbps and 320kb
    ps.

  • BSOD and other anomal

Hi I have Vista x64 Home Premium installed on two computers. The one, I get blue screens if I do more than one audio source at a time, ie, Media center for tv and mediasource 5 for super ripping, and/or listening to music. This was not the case with the?same circumstances?under xp. FYI it is an xtreme music on that one.
I could have all the stuff going at once, under xp that is. My other computer has an x-fi fatality FPS. The original xfi, that is. On both computers I have installed the downloaded drivers twice and installed them twice. On both computers under problems and solutions it says no PnP drivers are found for Vista x64 for the xfi. I ordered the cd but it hasn't even shipped yet. And I don't see where to download the correct apps, for example the thx center. The cd will have it, it says. Does anyone know which drivers are on the cd? The most recent ones or not? If I turn off cmss3d on the bsod computer, will that help alleviate the problem? I read in the sticky that it uses software for that under windows ap
    ps.
If I read it correctly. So cmss3d might be causing bsod's because of media center tv and too much else going on? Not using the hardware correctly? Also, why not support dvd audio in vista? Is that too much to ask? does that mean when all my computers run vista I won't be able to listen to my dvd audio discs? That's crazy talk. One of the key features I bought it for was to play dvd audio. So now I have to choose between vista and creative? Creative loses every time. Sorry. I don't mean to be offensi've with that statement, but everyone else says it too. Also, on the non bsod computer, I have 5.. It seems to switch back and forth between the front two speakers and the rear two speakers. And I get silent spikes when doing simple things like surfing the web and listening to music. I know most of this has been posted but I see no answers anywhere. Where are the answers?end of rant.wolfcomputers:M2N32 SLI Deluxe WIreless Edition

I doubt anyone on this forum really cares, but I seem to have fixed my problems. On the one hand I had Blue Screens, on the other I didn't have the proper drivers and such as reported in problem solutions, etc. I turned off sound blaster enhancements in the sound properties of the control panel, sound blaster tab. All this does is turn off cmss3d, which is just a gimmick anyways. Also, I uninstalled and reinstalled the vista web drivers. Also, I updated my videocard drivers to 60.04. Take your pick as to which worked. Maybe all of it did. Then, I deleted the problem reported in problems and solutions. That part was pretty obvious maybe, but I think it was an old message from when I first installed vista. On another note, I got Quake 4 working under vista on my non bsod computer, which was giving me fits. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, didn't install punkbuster as activision's website says it causes problems, and didn't let it update directx. I updated directx myself earlier with microsoft software which seemed to update both 9 and 0. I also upgraded the video drivers to 60.04 and uninstalled and reinstalled the vista web update drivers from creative. Once again, take your pick as to which helped. But I haven't had a blue screen since yesterday and I got quake running. Also, I got the disk they mail you for vista. I only installed the apps from it, and left the drivers alone. It's nice to have the controls back. They don't seem to affect the windows controls I mentioned above, so it's all good.
I really hope this helps somebody with blue screens. I think it is disabling the cmss3d which helped, but I am not 00% certain.:smileysurprised:Wolferrr, NOT wolf.

  • Converting Music on X-Fi Fatal

    Hi guys,
I purchased my new X-Fi card last week and boy is it amazing but I have one problem I don't know how to sort out. I have a load of Mp3 files on my computer and would like to burn them on disc to play in my car. I want to know if its possible to enhance the quality of them including things like the 24bt Crystalizer and other great features. What program would I use to do this and could someone explain exactly how I do it.
All my mp3's are 28kbs and it would be great if I could improve them.
    Thanks

Well first I don't think what you want to do can be done in one step or done at all. The software does have a similar function that won't help you here, but just listen - open MediaSource Organizer. Insert an audio CD. Its music should appear in the center console area and the program should attempt to retrieve the info from the internet. Now here's the part you'd be interested in - once the CD is recognized, 4 buttons will appear at the top of your screen, under the menu bar - Rip, Get Info, Submit, and Super Rip. If this process doesn't kick in automatically, eject the CD and select the CD dri've under the left-hand "source" area in Media Organizer. Then put the CD back in. Now it should work.
Super Rip is of interest here as it allows you to rip music CDs with those bells and whistles you want encoded into the file. It allows you to encode the crystalizer sound enhancement and the CMSS-3D audio processing right into each song file. These files will be either wav or lossless wma files and are quite large at about 0MB/minute. I am sure that once you are done doing this, you can covert these files to mp3s. Or you might be able to play them in your car depending on what kind of stereo you have.
As far as enhancing lossy mp3 music files, the only way I think this could be done would be to play them on your computer and record them manually individually. I'm not an expert, though, so if someone knows of a way, then by all means speak up. I've had this sound card for about 6 months so I do know a few things .
Also, if you still have the original CDs for all/some of these files, you might consider re-ripping them and deleting the old versions. With today's hardware, ripping an entire CD can be done in under 5 minutes. I just ripped an entire CD in less than a minute! But that wasn't super rip, just regular rip. Super rip takes much longer and the file sizes are much larger too. CD with super rip might take about 20 minutes, I'm guessing.Message Edited by dalewb on 03-4-200604:44 PM

  • Creative media source-How to apply audio cleanup permanant

I have some older blues in mp3 format that I have downloaded and some that I have ripped from cd. They have alot of hissing and "noise" in the background, when in creative media source organizer, I use audio clean-up button to get rid of hissing and noise, but if I want to burn those songs to cd, how do I apply the audio clean up to the file.
Also It mentioned in all of the advertising that you can "super rip" your audio cd's, which I have done, but it also says you can permanantly change your whole music "library" into better quality (I am assuming using crystalizer), but how do I permanantly apply these settings to the music files on my hard dri've. Does any one know how to do this, or if there are any good "links" or tutorials I should look at, thanks in advance for replys.

No, you cannot apply audio clean up permanently to the files. Audio clean up is a unique feature of MediaSource's playback. The noise will be removed by MediaSource before MediaSource plays the audio. However, the physical file is not changed at all. One trick you can use is to record What U Hear while playing the files with clean up enabled. This way, you can record the clean audio.
SuperRip's audio enhancement cannot be applied permanently to your existing files. You can use the same trick of recording What U Hear.

  • 5.1 NOT working in Vi

I posted earlier and now recant that my xfi worked under vista 64. My rear speakers drop in and out. This is with music that has been "super ripped" and happens with two different sets of 5. speakers. It happens with the same song super ripped off of a vista machine and off of a xp machine. This does not happen with the same?songs (off a server in my house) on an xp system hooked up to a receiver and 5. speakers. Music played through Nero 7 ultra enhanced such as DD dvd audio does not seem to drop in and out on the same computer with the problem. This leads me to believe it is a driver problem. I have had this soundcard for years and never had a problem until vista. I am relunctant to try the "beta" drivers posted here, as they aren't on the official creative download site. Although at this point, that shouldn't matter. So I am considering putting in my 3rd party hi fi soundcard I have sitting around because the xfi worked better with xp. I wonder how this R@z3R card will work under xp? Anyone know?

Well, rudebwoy, I guess we are the only ones who have this issue. Anyways, I seem to have put a stop to it for now. I turned off CMSS3D in the properties of the sound icon in my system tray. Go to the sound icon and right click and pick playback devices. Hit the little speaker icon and press properties. Pick the tab that says Soundblaster and click the checkbox which says disable?soundblaster enhancements. Then make sure it is also off in yer creative console. It's 7:30am where I am so I have only gotten results from headphones. But my headphones were doing it too.
Weird. ?Try it and see if it works for you. Can't hurt. You can always put right back.

  • Question on zen v plu

When I rip boughten cd's, it auto rips them in a wma format which sound like crap how do I rip song into the zen in a mp3 formatfrom CD's
also i do not see or can find" SUPER RIP" what is this?
And last but least my zen+ does not synce how can I solve this
    thanks
    chuck

When you click on Settings which option is selected?
Always convert - this will always set the files to the format you choose.<
Fit to Muvo (Zen) - this will only convert the files when they wouldn't normally fit onto your player such as if you tried to fit 2.5GB of files onto a 2GB player.<

  • Possible to convert existing MP3 using CMSS-3D and Crystaliz

I'm quite impressed with the way CMSS-3D and 24-bit Crystalizer can upmix lower quality recordings but I'd like the effect to be permanent on some of my existing files. What I would like to do is to resample my existing audio files much in the way super-rip handles the conversion of CD's to WMA. I have not yet found this option or even know if this is possible. I'd appreciate some pointers.
    Thanks in advanced.

    # SuperRip? allows you to rip your CDs into Xtreme Fidelity quality.
The X-Fi 24-bit Crystalizer and X-Fi CMSS-3D features allow you to "SuperRip" CDs into Xtreme Fidelity quality so you can now enjoy permanently enhanced music instead of low-quality MP3 files!
If previous suggestion didn't help then the only possible is to try, if recording your audio files while playing with these effects applied, using Creative Media Source with recording source select to "What U Hear" can do the job.

  • X-Fi - converting current mp3

    Hi,
I'm very interested in getting an X-Fi, and would like to know if it converts my existing mp3's into the new super-wow enhanced version? I know it converts the sound on-the-fly, so if I play one of my existing mp3's through it it'll sound enhanced, but what if I want to listen to the same enhanced music on my mp3 player whilst travelling? Can I convert my existing mp3's?
    <FONT face=Arial color=#000080 size=2>
    Thanks,
    Rich

Thanks for the replies. It would be interesting to compare a Super Rip file with the What-U-Hear version of a current mp3, to see if it's a marked difference - if not, a convertor would be great as I wouldn't have to re-rip all my audio CDs.
What about DVD Audio discs? Can I Super Rip these to my PC? I have a number of albums of this format in 5., and it would be great to listen to them on my PC. Does the X-Fi enhance even these?

Yes, Creative Control Panel to stereo and Windows to 5.1/7.1. The option on Creative Control Panel enables the effect and the proper speaker layout, and the setting in Windows tell all software that the system supports interpreting surround information.
Some versions of the drivers do not allow different layouts, but the newest one works fine if I am not mistaken.
Strangely enough, when I set the sound to 7.1 in Windows, when doing the basic test in the Control Panel, I get the sound only from L and R channels. Is that correct? I guess in that case I should be able to hear them all...

  • File sizes on x

i'm planning on getting the extreme music when the shops get stock of them. the question is. what i'm looking for is what is the file size on average for 4mb file, using super-rip mode would be, when converted into a ( .wav ) file. i would be grateful for any help, thanks in advance.
    john

    John,
Not too sure what you mean by on a average for 4MB file. The actual file size for super-rip depend greatly on the type for setting/enhancement you have set for it. For example, I try to rip an audio track of 4min 3seconds using 24bit crystalizer at high setting, CMSS3D-Surround mode, Wav format - 96khz, 5., 24bit. The file size for this audio track in wav is a whopping 447MB.

  • So what will WO

Hi everyone!I'm new here, but I've been browsing these forums a bit. I'm building myself a brand new Gaming?PC, but I'll be using my good old X-Fi Xtreme Music sound card.:smileyvery-happy:And since I'm thinking about moving to Windows Vista at the same time, I would like to hear, what features will actually WORK with the beta drivers. I've had trouble figuring that out while browsing the forums. Most people complain about stuff not working, not talking about what IS working. Will I be able to play games, like, say Rainbow Six: Vegas, with the beta drivers with 5. surround sound, using standard analog wiring, not SPDIF? I will have to use that ALchemy stuff, wount I?Should I just wait with the OS upgrade? In almost every other aspect Vista is looking great, so I'm a bit confused.:smileysurprised:

The following works under the beta driver for me:?) CMSS upmixing/ 5. surround (from audio console applet)2) Super Ripping CDs and CD burning with Media Source 53) Inputs on my X-Fi Elite Pro console (but I have to change the default?recording device from "what you hear" to whatever input I want to use, like phono, by right clicking on the volume icon in the systray and choosing "recording device"; other devices are shown as "unavailable" until you change the recording default to that device)4) Auto-organize/ media toolbox works (did a custom install?and used?XP compatability mode with the installer to get it to install)5) Front panel controls on console work but do not show a visual on the monitor when in use like they do under XP6) 24-bit crystalizer works7) Mode switcher available on audio console?I have not tested any other apps on the CD nor have I done any gaming. I did edit some video and burn a DVD with good audio results.
