Support for importing & renaming movies

I'd really like to see Lightroom import movies and allow them to be renamed using custom templates. Otherwise, I have to remember to go back & import the movies separately then rename them individually which consumes time. It's easy to forget that you have movies on the memory card after importing images.
Please Lightroom, add this feature in an update.
Thanks.

My point is that the documentation says that the application will read the metadata and can show it in the Metadata panel. After Effects doesn't use the XMP metadata to apply image adjustments.

  • Adobe After Effects CC Doesn't recognize Alpha Key for imported DNxHD (.mov) clips

After Upgrading To Adobe CC, we faced a problem when we try to import our HD assets (Quicktime .mov Codec: DnxHD 1080i 120). they are imported as one layer.. there NO Alpha key.
These Clips dont have such problem when we import them into Adobe After Effects CS6.
Please Adobe, we need a fast solution. this is urgent.
Note that we tried to download the last version of AVIDCodecLE package with no result!
    thanks for any idea.

ADOBE - THIS IS ABSURD - FIX THE DAMN BUG
Our studio waited until now to update - what a huge mistake, waste of money, waste of time. Fortunately, older versions still run fine on the systems we "upgraded".
We have years of assets that no longer work correctly in CC or CC14. We are a major production studio with literally thousands of assets that exist in a multi million dollar ISIS system. CC and CC2014 are worthless until this gets fixed. I'm sitting here looking like a amateur because nothing works. THANKS GUYS! - No, we're NOT going to go back and "re-render" all of those assets. We will just continue to use the no monthly fee Cs6, forever.
We will not be renewing any of our "contracts" until this bug is fixed (about 30 licenses). Back to CS6.

  • Best settings for importing HD movies to ATV for video gallery

    hello -
i work for a gallery, and we have a video artist who will be showing HD videos here for 2-3 months. we bought 2 AppleTVs to use to show the movies, and i'm trying to figure out the best way to convert the material and get the files on there.
using the "Create Apple TV version" doesn't preserve the HD quality of the originals, which i know aren't compatible natively. i was hoping there is a place in the settings for the ATV where i could at least review the video codec in use when converting in iTunes, but there doesn't seem to be a place for it. am i blind or is there no choice in the matter?
i've tried converting in Quicktime Pro using the settings that are on the ATV specs page, and i was successful once (in a short excerpt without much video movement) but no longer (using an excerpt that has more color, movement, etc). the bit rate is too high i'm guessing, tho i've tried to limit it to 5000 k/sec. it ends up coming out 18m / sec for some reason......
for some reason i can't get handbrake to open the file.
any thoughts? we can't afford to buy new computers to stream the original off of, so we're hoping the ATV can show the movies in the highest def possible. she sent them in 720p50 format, so i had to buy a decoder plugin to view them (DVCPro HD from Calibrated Software).
    thanks in advance

  • Adobe Premiere Pro CC Support for Importing / Exporting H.265 (HEVC) 4K Video

    Hi there,
Does any know about how to export 4K content direct from premiere pro in the new H.265 HEVC codec in 4K resolution, or do you know of any third party software for Mac that can do this?
I am having a problem finding a solution and frankly am surprised that this isn't already included in Premiere Pro CC.  Thanks for the help!
I ask because I am exporting VERY large 4K files (they are 1-2 hour long Nature Relaxation videos) and so naturally being able to export at the new H.265 would be a blessing!
    Thanks for the help!
    Dave

I'm having the exact same problem with my machine!!! I was so excited to run across your post / thread, just because I've dealt with this since December as well.
    MBPr (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013)
Processor  2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 4000 /  NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M
Apple replaced the logic board in my machine in December after determining a bad GPU. Same exact screens and problems, glitches.. Sometimes getting kicked out of my account. When I log back in, it's just a matter of a few minutes before it locks up.
First I was thinking it was the CUDA driver.. Uninstalled it.. Still have the issues.. Apple pushed me to split my SSD and install a clean OS X install, new user.. reinstall apps.. Still have the same issues..
Went around this with Apple in February/March.. Was killing me with deadlines. Now, I'm back working on several large projects and for the past few weeks, the crashes and machine freeze ups are killing me. Got fed up and I'm back trying to seek help through Apple Executive Relations. I've spent countless hours trying to diagnose, working with support, visiting the local Apple store..
The kicker is that we have three of these exact machines in my team at work, all using the same Adobe CC apps/Premiere Pro.. Mine is the only one that is doing this. I will have graphic glitches when the machine wakes from sleep. I also have the screen changing color profiles -- you can see it shift (I have my machine color calibrated) from the default to the custom profile.
I would be happy to post a bunch of photos of the same graphic issues.. I have no solution at this point. Adobe, can you help us? I still believe it is a GPU issue and not software related.

  • How do I get support for a rented movie that wouldn't play?

I rented the Godfather II to watch with my wife and then it said it would take 20 hours to download to start playing!  Mind you the internet is find enough to stream Netflix without ever a problem.  It said if I switched to lower resolution in the settings it would be faster, but it actually made it take longer (26 hours).
When it finally finished we tried to watch it and then it started but stopped and said it needed to download again.  We waited, then it disappeared (I'm assuming because 24 hours had passed since it first tried to start playing).  I've been trying to get a refund from Apple but can't get through to anyone.
Very frustrated - I love Apple products (iPhones, Macs, iPads & Apple TV) but customer support is awful.  They really need to take a lesson from Amazon

Netflix uses adaptive streaming to adjust quality based on connection. iTunes content is fixed and will start once enough has buffered in order to play without interruption.
What is your connection speed (speedtest.net) need 6mbps for 720p and 8mbps for 1080p. Did you try switching to SD?
Check istumbler or netstumbler to see about interference
Make sure you're on the ISPs DNS (settings - network - configure DNS - should be set to automatic)

  • Was support for QT SMIL movies broken in Lion?

I tried opening a QT SMIL file in QT 7.6.6 in Lion and I get a blank movie. They play fine on OSX 10.6.8. Path to the movie and QT Text file are correct (same folder as the movie). Did something get broken in the last OS update?

I get a message that says "Failed to Load" with a red X where the video should be. Video is in the same folder as the .smi file and reference to it is correct.

  • AVI Support for FCP

I am a film major and I have been trying for weeks to edit an AVI file in FCP but it keeps telling me that there was an unknown file type. My friend has absolutely no problem editing AVIs in FCP. I can't figure it out. Is it because I have regular QuickTime? He doesn't think he has QuickTime Pro, so what am I doing wrong?
I tried to use Compressor to make the AVI into an H264, an mpeg-2, a DVNTSC... no luck with any of them. I've tried different types to make sure it's not an AVI, too. It keeps telling me that it can't convert. I don't understand why not, but it doesn't even seem to try once I submit. It just says that it can't convert within 10 seconds of submitting. I've tried everything I can think of, even AVI to mpeg and mov converters, but none of them work.
How do you get an AVI into FCP?

How do you get an AVI into FCP?
AVI is a container, not a format, and some formats can't be used in Mac OS X through any means. Installing Perian and MPEG Streamclip may enable its import or conversion to a format Final Cut Pro can handle.
QuickTime Pro doesn't add support for any additional movie formats; it provides editing capabilities.

  • IFRAME into iMOVIE - most efficient method for importing?

What would be the most efficient method for importing iFrame movies from a camera into iMovie?
iFrame i suppose to save time and work more efficiently in lue of quality but I don't seem to find I way to import the movies faster than in other formats.
On a second note, inporting in iMovie from DV (tape) cameras dramaticly reduced the image quality. Do we still have the same issue when importing an iFrame movie?
    Thank you for your help!

  • RAW support for Olympus XZ-1?

With the Olympus XZ-1 quickly gaining ground as one of the most popular compact-enthusiast cameras, I'd think Apple would be very keen on getting RAW support for the camera into Aperture. We're going on six months since the camera's release, and still not there. Does anyone have any line, at all, as to if/when this is going to happen?

"much"?  Considering that Canon and Nikon have a huge share of the market, it is unlikely that Apple lost very many customers because of this.
What I said was Historically Apple has lost much market share to Adobe Light Room through slow support for important cameras... That does include slow support for new cameras from Nikon and Canon. Why Apple gives up this market share must only be because no one has told Steve it is happening; some VP is not doing his/her job.

  • Any support for m2ts files?

It seems this is a common problem with AVCHD, but will there be no support for importing m2ts files?  It sounds like we can import mts files from the camera, but not m2ts files (i.e. those mts files which have been downloaded from the camera to the computer already).  It always seems very silly to me, because who keeps all their video on their camera indefinitely?  Most of my video is m2ts on my computer already, so what I really want is compatibility with these files.  Is this a pipedream?

    Julie Kmoch wrote:
Thanks for the feedback. I'll take it up with the video team as to whether we can open up to this file extension. In general, our focus is on video from DSLRs rather than camcorders, since that's where the vast majority of our customers are. But the line gets blurry with AVCHD which has a foot in both worlds.
This is an endlessly tiresome and increasingly common phoned-in reaction from Adobe (in an "answered" thread).  For Adobe's developers to spend the two seconds it takes to include another file extension for recognition of the exact same file format is zero innovation and merely being responsive to a major customer concern.  It has nothing to do with the back-pocket excuse of steering Lightroom to "focus" on photography and less on video, and also nothing to do with the performance/speed/"zippiness" of the application.  Adobe is highlighting its launch of Lightroom 4 with an advertising manifesto that it improves video support (while asking for large upgrade payments).  Mixed messages combined with "we're not focusing on video" is insulting to Adobe's loyal customers.
Support it, or not.  But if you market the product as supporting but refuse to follow through with zero-innovative fixes, then you are committing commercial fraud.

  • Allowed codecs for import?

    Hello,
I'm new to PE 7 and I'm having some problems with the import of a video. I captured it with the program FRAPS (FPS1 codec) which I know is not supported for import. But when I search the manual, there only is a list of allowed filetypes for import, but not the codecs.
I'm looking for a lossless codec that PE 7 can handle. Does anyone know?

There will always be that "trial and error" aspect. With the number of programs, cameras, etc., that use various CODEC's and new ones coming out monthly (or variations on existing ones), a user has to do their homework to stay current. As I stated up-thread, camera mfgr's. are always looking to squeeze a touch more quality into a smaller package, so their coders are always looking to tweak what's already out there, or create a new CODEC.
Some of these play-nice with existing NLE's, but many do not. For SD work, the goal is to get to DV-AVI Type II, in the fewest possible steps. With HD material, the water is very muddy right now. It appears that AVCHD is in the lead, though working with that format is very taxing on one's system, and the need to upgrade to the "latest and greatest" is very high, indeed. Even with AVCHD, there is a "lite" version, that is causing some a bit of grief.
In the pro ranks, the Red camera and its files are right around the corner for Adobe. There is much speculation that Red and Adobe will have it all working with the CS4 4.1 release - due any day now. A new CODEC for Adobe is on the horizon. Some of the older "players" like CineForm have yet to update their output to match what is currently available. There material works well in CS3, but has yet to be updated to CS4, or had not been, last time I checked.
One reason that the Sony Vegas products work so well with some of the Sony CODEC's is that the development labs are right next door and projects are usually a dual effort. Companies, like Adobe, have to wait until the format/CODEC has been released, and then re-code for it. There is a definite lag with this method. Some users and potential users bash Adobe (and others), because Vegas can do it, so why can't Adobe? If they got the code and the specs, before they were released, they could, to a degree. Vegas gets to time their releases to coincide with the release of a new format/CODEC on Sony cameras. Adobe has no such luxury.
A good book on all things DVD, DVD Demystified, by Taylor, Johnson & Crawford, Mc Graw Hill, has a lot of great info on CODEC's, but because it's printed material, will never be at the cutting edge. Even though it just covers the CODEC's used in the production of DVD's and BD, it will always be behind the development curve with regards to the latest developments. Even on-line material lags behind. Catching pod-casts from all of the "players" is about as good as we can get, and then one often has to "read between the lines."
Yes, the world of CODEC's is a wonderous and mysterious realm. In video (and still) production, we need them daily, and will always be behind the curve, but we usually do not need to know how to write them. With tools like G-Spot, Google and fora like this one, we can pretty much stay as current, as we need to be.
Last comment: I am a firm believer in only having the CODEC's that I need on my system. There are no bonus points for having the most CODEC's on one's machine. I also look for the paid version from the developer of any that I do need, and will spend $, rather than go for a possibly hacked, or reverse-engineered free version. This does not mean that free CODEC's are bad - only that I will pay to get as close to the source, as is possible. I want something that always works with my system and something that will do the best job possible.

  • 32-bit floating point HDR support for LR4.1 RC2

    Folks,
In the event you haven't discovered it, LR4.1 RC2 has added support for importing and adjusting a 32-bit floating point TIFF file. Which means LR4 can tonemap an HDR image. To use this, you'll need to use Photoshop's HDR Pro to put together the multiple exposed images, then set the options to make a 32-bit HDR image in HDR Pro and save that as a TIFF file. Then import the TIFF into LR4.1 RC2 for toning...note: nothing you do to the HRD in HDR Pro will impact the 32-bit FP TIFF. If you do some initial adjustments of the original raw files in LR 4.1, I'm pretty sure most of the toning in LR4.1 on the raw files is ignored. But white balance works (haven't tested spot healing and lens corrections yet).
Note, to do the HDR process, the raw images will end up being demosaiced and the saved HDR TIFF will be a linear ProPhoto RGB image.
Try it...the ability to use LR (and eventually ACR–it's not hooked up in the ACR 7 beta yet) to toning HDR images is actually pretty impressive. Also note, that you don't really need to feed HDR Pro a ton of multiple exposures...2 (normal and under to preserve highlight detail) or 3-5 depending on the scene contrast range is all you need. More isn't really better (unless you really need to shoot a very high dynamic range scene...

I will try that in the morning, but when checking the properties today it did say 16-bit for each clip. I have gotten around this by taking each clip offline, opening it in STP, applying the effects, doing a save as and then reconnecting each clip with the new file. It seems to work with no sync issues. Just doesn't work as easily as it should. Ideally I should be able to send each section to an STP script and allow it to do its work and have it work.
I sure hope to find out exactly what is going on.

  • EEye REM support for MARS

    Greetings,
According to the latest documentation for MARS eEye's REM 1.0 is supported for importing vulnerability information from hosts. Has anyone had any success using newer versions of REM with MARS or does the integration not work past version 1.0? I have talked to eEye about it but their answers are not conclusive regarding whether this actually works with the latest version of REM or not
    Thanks

We spoke about the same with Wayne (from eeye). All we got was the REM user guide in return. It doesn't seem to mention anything!

Are you talking about purchasing full-length movies for download?  Here's one site: Amazon.com - you have to download their PC software downloader/player first, and then transfer movies to your 5800.  To get started, go to their download page for Video on demand.
Buy or find free movies, download using the Unbox Video Player, and then transfer to your 5800 XpressMusic.  For help on transferring videos, go here.
BTW, this information is from the promotion that I received when I purchased my 5800 earlier this year - there was an offer for US$50  in free movie downloads with purchase.

I just downloaded Firefox 3.6 and followed the instructions for importing Favorites from Internet Explorer. Firefox said the import was successful, but the Favorites do not appear at the bottom of the Bookmarks menu (below "Mozilla Firefox") as shown in the Support instructions. Where can I access my Favorites?

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks).<br />
If you can't find them in the "From Internet Explorer" folder then try this:
    * Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
    * Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File
