Hi Allan.
As has been mentioned, the underlying html is not that shown in the text. This is the normal phishing system, with people clicking a link that isn't actually what is shown on screen. There is no actual problem with www2.bt.com, but the other, well that's another story.
For anyone else reading, please don't click the links quoted or do anything when you see the displayed page.

If it has a link than most likely no. For example
It has come to our attention that your billing information is out of date. To fix this, refer to the link below
That is most likely a scam and you should not click on it. It would help if you provided a copy of the email, just to be sure.

  • How can I stop Mail from replicating a message & trying to send?

A few days ago I tried to send out an email with three attachments which totaled over 53 megs. Of course it was too large for the server and I recieved bounce back that the message could not be sent. I then created two seperate messages with the attachments at appropriate sizes. I have multiple email accounts and didn't tink anything of the event other than "I should have checked before sending..."
The next day I started getting the system warnings that there was no available space on my hard drive. The previous day I had over 5 gigs of available space.
After researching a few options I noticed the Mail application was having trouble sending an recieveing from one of the four accounts. Then I spotted the culprit - the account was trying to send out the mail with the 53 meg attachment. It was replicating and storing the message and attachment in the "On My Mac" saved mail folders as "Recovered Mail". It had replicated 100 times - 5 gigs worth. The message was not in my Outbox or Sent mail folders.
When accessing the newly created "Recovered Mail" folder and trying to delete the specific messages the application would crash. The work around was to delete the folder. Howver, the next day the folder re-appered and began populating the hard drive with duplicate files.
    - Have tried virus scan (Norton AntiVirus) and using Norton Firewall to lock down all drive to internet traffic (annoying with block / allow mesages).
    - Have tried deleting the account and re-creating it.
After a few hours or a day the dreaded "Recovered Mail" file was back and hogging drive space.
The account is accessible from my iPhone and through web browsers with no issues. I can't even find the offending message and attachment. So I suspect there is a bug / corruption in Mail.
    HELP!
need to know how to fix it or if I have a new virus.
    Thanks!

    Is this an IMAP account?
If so, delete the messages in Mail from all folders and quit Mail.
Go the the website and clear the messages from all folders there.
Reopen Mail and verify the messages have been deleted for all folders.

  • Not getting e-mails from wireless cam in Windows 8 Mail App

Please forgive me if this is not being asked in the correct forum.  I could not find another place that seemed to fit.  Feel free to move it if necessary.
I have two Linksys Wireless IP Cameras.  Both are configured to detection motion and send an e-mail with 5 pictures to my Live.com e-mail address.
This configuration has been working for over 1 year and works.  To verify, I get e-mails from the both cameras when I use Internet Explorer and login to http:// mail.live.com  with my live.com (aka Hotmail) email account.
I upgraded to Windows 8, logged on the very first time with my Microsoft Live account.  From all appearances, it looks like the Windows 8 Mail App was configured to use my live.com e-mail account.  There are message there that I see when I login via
    Internet Explorer.
The problem is, I never ever get any of the emails that were sent from my Wireless Cameras in the Windows 8 Mail app.
If I sign in to my live.com email account via Internet Explorer those messages are there.  As a test, while I was looking at one of my emails via Internet Explorer, I forwarded it to myself.  That message with pictures and all did arrive in the Windows
    8 Mail app.
So, does anyone have any ideas why the Windows 8 Mail app does not get the e-mails sent from my Wireless Cameras?
    Thanks,
    Erik

Normally I do use IE to check my email.  I want to use the new stuff.  Note that the camera is stand alone and not connected to any computers.  It is a wireless IP camera and is configured to send e-mail when it detects motion.  Linksys
has told me that in general, the camera is compatible with Windows 8 but there are no drivers to plug it in directly to a computer with Window 8.
You stated that you suspect that the mail app does not support the function.  I'm not sure what you mean by that.  It is a mail application and should present me with any incoming e-mails to my account regardless of where they come from.
I know that the camera is working because I can see the message via IE in Windows 8 and in the Mail App on my Windows Phone 7.
So, if the Windows 8 Mail app does not support the function, why I can view one of the e-mails from my camera using IE in Windows 8 and then forward it to myself at the same e-mail address and then the forwarded message arrives with all the pictures
attached and is viewable in Windows 8 mail app.
I have also setup my camera to send e-mail to my work account.  At work we have Exchange and I use Outlook 2010.  I get the messages from the camera in that program without any problems.
I also get the message using the Windows Phone 7 Mail App.
I just can't understand why the Windows 8 mail app is ignoring or blocking message that are coming from my cameras.

  • Problem sending mail from desktop

    Hi
I am currently not able to send mail from my desktop. Works fine via web though. The message I get after a period of Mail trying to send message is the following
"The connection to the server 'smtp.mac.com' on port 25 timed out"
If I then run Connection Doctor, the further information I receive is
"Could not connect to this SMTP server. Check your network connection and and that you entered the correct information in the Account preferences".
    Any help most welcome.
    Thanks

J - Let me describe the issue I had before describing my work-around:
I started getting the message "Could not connect to this SMTP server" only after the upgrade from Tiger to Leopard, and then only when I was trying to send attachments larger than about 50KB. I'm in a rural area, and only have dial-up. I was able to send text messages, and could receive emails with text and attachments, regardless of size.
I believe that it is a Leopard issue in my case. Perhaps not in yours. Certainly you'll want to verify that something hasn't changed in your outgoing SMTP server settings....maybe contact your ISP to verify that they haven't made any changes.
However, if your problem does seem similar to mine, and if you're about to pull your hair out, like I was, you may wish to try what I've done to address this problem:
I have found two work-arounds...both are cumbersome, and I don't believe either is acceptable, but they do work for me. 1) Send mail from your ISP's webmail facility (or gmail, for example) or, 2) I have made a new partition on my disk on which I (re)installed Tiger. (I didn't have the "Could not connect..." issue with Tiger) I can drag attachments or other info into the Tiger partition from my Leopard disk, then restart in the Tiger disk. From Tiger, I can compose and send email from Tiger's Mail app. Good luck! Bill

  • I WANT TO IMPORT MAIL FROM OUTLOOK TO TALKTALK

i want to direct mail from outlook to talktalk.

Do you mean Outlook, the application included with Microsoft Office, or Outlook Express, the application included with Windows XP, or Outlook.com, the new incarnation of Hotmail/Windows Live Mail?
Does talktalk have documentation on importing mail? Or on forwarding your old address to your new address?
I suspect Firefox is not at the center of the process in any case.

  • N00b mess: Moving users without messing up E-mail from 10.5 box to 10.6 box

    Gentleones,
I have a 10.6 Xserve and a 10.5 PowerMac G5 DP from which I have migrated all of my users and their E-mail. Or so I thought.
While I did indeed successfully move the mail from the old machine to the new one, when I installed 10.6 on the new box, I chose to import users to the new machine. What it did and what I thought it would do are two different things.
What I thought it would do is move the users from the old machine to the new one, creating a new "LDAPv3/192.168.1.4" directory.
What it did is merely point the new machine at the old one so that they both have to be on. My new machine, 192.168.1.4, has a directory named "LDAPv3/192.168.1.3" and, yes, if I turn 192.168.1.3 off, 192.168.1.4 can't do jack. Users can't get E-mail, etc. Authentication fails all the way 'round, 'cept for the admin user in the Local directory, of course.
*So what I'd like to do is move my users from the old machine to the new one, but I certainly don't want to do it in such a way that Dovecot loses track of whose mail is what and that their E-mail is lost.*
I have contemplated the problem a bit and think that:
1 - Manually creating the accounts (small number of them, so not too hard) would likely destroy the linkage to the E-mail. I would think that creating a new user of the same name in a LDAPv3/127.0.0.1 directory would have different whatever-it-is that Dovecot uses to link up the E-mail.
2 - "Backup and import" (as suggested by a dialog box, but which I can't figure out how to do anyway... there IS no "Backup" command that I'm aware of) might work but, as the previous parenthetical suggests, I can't figure out how to do it anyway.
3 - "Export" and "Import" might work, except that when I tried to do that the first time I did the 10.6 install (I've done test installations several times over the past few weeks) made a mess of things and there was an Address Book error that kept popping up in the logs to which nobody has found a solution.
    Sigh.
    Help?
    Thanks,
    Bill

  • Need to send mail from Microsoft Exchange 2007 account(different from Gmail) on behalf of another Gmail ID. How to configure that ?

I have a Gmail ID (e.g [email protected])
I have a Exchange ID (e.g  [email protected])
I need to configure exchange account (2007)  such that I can send a mail from my Exchange account but at the receiver end it looks like it was sent from  ([email protected]).
Both the accounts are my accounts.
I need this because I do not have access to my Gmail account from place where I access the internet and I need to send the mails from my Gmail account only.

So you want to spoof your e-mail address.
You can make your Exchange server send as any address you want.  Just create a different mailbox with that address as the primary (reply) address.  It has to be a different account.
However, be aware that many systems to which you send such mail to will bounce it as suspected spam because they'll detect that your server is sending mail from Gmail but your server is not Gmail.

  • Transferring Mail from one Mac to another via Screen Sharing

    Hi,
I live in California. My Mother lives in Montreal. She has to computers. A Mac Mini and new MacBook.
What I want to do is transfer her Mail from the Mac Mini to the MacBook via Screen Sharing or Remote Management. In other words, I want to do this from my computer.
How does one go about this? What somewhere is needed to make it all work?
    Thanks in advance.

you can't screen share between 3 computers. but you can between two. the easiest way is via ichat. users need to log into ichat on both computers and then you can send a request to share screen via ichat. it's also possible to do it without ichat but that might be more difficult that your mother can manage if she is not too computer savvy which I suspect is the case here. first she has to enable screen sharing in her system preferences->sharing. that's easy. but if she has a router (does she) then she need to port forward port public port 5900 on the router to the port 5900 on her computer so that you can get through the router when trying to screen share from outside. particular instructions on port forwarding depend on the router model. once the port is forwarded you can vnc to here computer from where you are by going to go menu-.connect to server in finder. then in the popup enter
    vnc://ip.address
where the ip.address is the ip address of her router. she can find it out by going to this website for example
    http://www.whatismyip.com/
but all in all, it's much easier with ichat as no port forwarding is required.

  • Z10 automatically loses any e-mail from inbox and sent box immediately after being read or not

Hi Everyone, just need some advice on how to cure my Z10 from losing anything/e-mail in my in-box or sent box (even deleted items)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello Victor,
As I suspected, your mail client is likely downloading messages and deleting them from the mail server on which they are stored. When this occurs, the message is also being deleted from your BlackBerry Z10 smartphone.
Set your Microsoft Outlook to leave a copy of the message on the server using the steps in the following article and let us know if this addresses the issue for you: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB12283

  • How to STOP Mail from launching at startup

I hate even posting this question because it seems like I'm missing something easy. I want to stop mail from launching at start-up because I now have entourage.
I can find how to TURN OFF mail and TURN ON entourage at start up.
    Mail: 2.1.3
    Entourage: 12.2.3

You're overlooking the obvious, as you suspected.
Go to System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items and remove Mail from that list. If you want Entourage to startup, add that to the list.
However, there's no good reason to use Entourage over Mail, especially because it stores all your mail in a single file, so if that file ever becomes corrupted (it will, at the worst possible time) all your mail is gone; it cannot be recovered.
Secondly, you shouldn't startup applications at launch, since that will slow down your startup time and can easily cause other problems before you even get the chance to do anything with the computer. If you need to use a program, launch it after the Finder has loaded completely.

  • Mail is not downloading e-mails from the server

Mail is not downloading e-mail from the yahoo server.  However, I am able to send e-mails out

My problem with mail concerns gmail and not Yahoo.  But about once a day I see an email come in on my iPhone or iPad and then I wait for it to come in on my MBP, running Mavericks 10.9.2 with all the updates current.  It never does come in.  I find that by exiting from Mail and then in a few seconds opening it again that the missing mail will come in.  Also, I found that by taking the gmail server off line and then right back on line that the missing email will come it.
I like to reply to my email from the MBP so that I have a record of the sent files.  Sending from the IOS devices doesn't let the MBP know about the sent file.
This never happens under IOS 7.1 on my iPhone and iPad.  So I suspect it is a problem with Mavericks.
I'm sure I'm not the only one having problems with this.   Is this a problem with Mavericks or with gmail?

  • Thunderbird prefixes mail from BT yahoo email address with [SPAM]

When I open Thunderbird to read mail from BT yahoo, the mail is prefixed with [SPAM]. This has happened in the last few days, BT maintain it is nothing to do with them and to my knowledge nothing has changed in the last months. The messages are not shown as spam in BT yahoo mail.
Whislt talking to BT they sent me a mail which (as Thunderbird was opened) was received without the [SPAM] prefix and this morning an Amazon email was received whilst Thunderbird was open, again without the [SPAM] prefix.
It does not do this with mail from an Orange/EE email address.
Can I prevent this, please? (It is just annoying rather than critical and to me unfathomable)!
This began on 19/10/14 after I had not used my computer for 5 days and I opened all 3 email addresses at once through Thunderbird (as pr normal) to receive 60 emails all prefixed [SPAM] - previously all was well - and BT had still filtered out the mails that I regarded as spam.

Thunderbird does not use the word 'Spam', it uses the word 'Junk'.
So if you are seeing 'Spam' then this is either being applied by the server or you have a program installed on your computer which is doing it. But it is not Thunderbird.
I also use BT and it puts some emails in the Spam folder on webmail account.
But if I get emails in Thunderbird with a 'Spam' entered at the start of the subject line then it has been put there by my anti-virus/firewall program.
For example, I use Norton Anti-virus/firewall product and Norton will add 'Norton AntiSpam' to emails it thinks is spam. There is the facility to place exclusions in Norton.
Other products such as 'spampal' or 'spamassassin' will also add the word Spam.
So I would suspect that you have a program running that is doing this.
