%SW_DAI-4-DHCP_SNOOPING_DENY after dhcp server migration

Hello,
Some weeks ago, we migrated our DHCP server (from windows 2003 to windows 2012 with the new failover features in active/passive mode).
On our switches ; we have both arp inspection & dhcp snooping enabled. Since the migration, arp inspection is not working correctly : as soon as i activate the arp inspection on our client vlan (96) ; we get errors like : "Sep  1 11:50:39: %SW_DAI-4-DHCP_SNOOPING_DENY: 1 Invalid ARPs (Req) on Fa0/29, vlan 96.([d4c9.efdf.710e/10.0.96.89/0000.0c07.ac60/10.0.127.254/11:50:39 GMT+1 Mon Sep 1 2014])
Sep  1 11:50:40: %SW_DAI-4-DHCP_SNOOPING_DENY: 2 Invalid ARPs (Req) on Fa0/7, vlan 96.([d485.64b4.0068/10.0.97.214/0000.0000.0000/10.0.127.254/11:50:40 GMT+1 Mon Sep 1 2014])
If i have a look on the dhcp snooping binding table on the same switch :
NUKUH052#sh ip dhcp snooping binding
MacAddress          IpAddress        Lease(sec)  Type           VLAN  Interface

Strange, interface FastEthernet0/7 is not in the table !!! and that s the same case for a lot of computers. (of course it s dhcp and not static ip address).

ip dhcp snooping information option allow-untrusted
no ip dhcp snooping information option
ip dhcp snooping
>> ip arp inspection vlan 96 : as soon as i had this command i have the error messages.
I already :
* tested several software version
* only enabled  a single dhcp server in the helper address
But i don't find the issue... the problem came when we started up the 2 new dhcp server (with the new 2012 dhcp failover feature). We have the same issue on all the switches of this LAN (the same config is running fine on the other factory we own).
Can you help me to solve that issue ?

Hi,
I just attached the file containing the filtered caps ; taken simultaneously on both dhcp servers. As we are using HSRP ; it looks like the dhcp messages are not doubled, but quadruplet.
Below the HSRP configuration on one of our both core switches :
interface Vlan96
 ip address 10.0.127.252 255.255.224.0
 ip helper-address 10.0.9.33
 ip helper-address 10.0.9.32
 no ip redirects
 standby 96 ip 10.0.127.254
 standby 96 timers 1 4
 standby 96 priority 80
 standby 96 preempt
 arp timeout 720
And i also discovered that there are some microsoft bugs related to dhcp failover. Links here :
http://blogs.technet.com/b/teamdhcp/archive/2014/02/26/dhcp-failover-patch-to-address-a-reservation-issue-and-another-issue-related-to-failover-partner-not-accepting-state-transition-from-bad-address-gt-active-has-been-released.aspx
and
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2831920
And the active dhcp windows server has not been updated since january 2013.... (so the update are not applied). I ll discuss with my colleague in charge of server to update it asap...

  • BW Steps before and after R3 server migration

    Hi Friends,
We are using ECC6 and BW 3.5.
My client is going for R3 server migration, yes it's just a migration of server and not any upgrade. This server is quite old so migrating to a higher end server.
BASIS will do a system copy during downtime i.e. a homogeneous client copy where they would just copy the DB tables. As per them all data will remain same and only the IP will change i.e. i will have to make a change in R3-BW RFC connection.
I need to know what other pre and post migration steps are involved in this case?
    Thanks,
    BJ

    Hi,
I dont think that there would be any impact on queues etc due to server migration. We flush out data from queues only in cases of upgrade/ patch application etc. because there is a chance that after the upgrade the structure of datasource may change. In that case, any data lying in queue beforehand would get corrupted and cannot be loaded.
in your case, there is no such change going to happen, therefore no need to worry about queues. You can go ahead without worrying about any dataloss due to queues.

  • Problems after print server migration to Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hi all,
New forum member, first time poster. I am at my wits end and have concussion from banging my head on the desk for several days running. Hopefully someone here may be able to help.
    Environment
I have recently moved our printing environment from a Windows Server 2003 machine to a new Server 2008 R2 machine in prep for rolling out Windows 7 x64 clients. We have 30-40 printers, majority of which are HP's (M2727's, P4015dn's, CM3530's, P2035's & a CM8060).
My procedure for setting up the printers on the new server involved manually creating each printer and using up-to-date drivers, we wanted to start fresh. The HP's are all using the HP Universal PCL 5 or PCL 6 (61.115.1.10527) x86 & x64 driver. We use Desktop Authority on logon to install the required printers for each client.
    Problems
Since everyone is now running through the 2008 R2 server we have had a bunch of intermittent problems pop up all over the place, mostly with our HP printers. When using the PCL6 driver some applications print a page or 10 of garbled gibberish (wingdings etc), so most printers are now using the PCL5 driver. Other applications print the error "PCL XL error" when using PCL6. Sometimes reinstalling the printer on the client machine will resolve these errors, however they tend to resurface.
When we use the PCL5 driver our M2727's intermittently report "Out Of Memory" on the printer display (they are stock with 64M RAM each) - upgrading the RAM may fix this but we never had this problem before on the 2003 server. This problem is not specific to the size of the printed document - it could be a 20 page report or a 2 page excel document. Resetting the printer will generally clear this issue temporarily. This is currently our most annoying/biggest issue.
Some people are having issues printing to a FujiXerox 340A-AP printer - in particular 1 person is able to print fine, where as another prints and the print margin appears to be far too small. After confirming all print margins on the server then reinstalling the printer on the client machine, the problem still persists. We have two FujiXerox printers, the second one is working as intended for 8-10 users with the exact same settings.
    Attempted Fixes
These are some of the attempted fixes that I have tried:
    Turning it off and on
Upgrading the firmware on the M2727's to resolve garbled printing & out of memory
Upgrading the firmware on the CM3530's to resolve garbled printing
Reinstalling all HP Universal PCL5/PCL6 x86 & x64 drivers on the print server
Ensuring that the 2008 R2 server is 100% up-to-date with MS patches
Backing up all printers on print server, removing the print server role, deleting all printers & drivers, rebooting, reinstalling the print server role and restoring all printers from backup
Upgraded Desktop Authority to the latest version - as this application is in charge of installing the printers on logon
As you can see we are having a lot of problems and nothing seems to make any sense. None of this happened before Windows Server 2008 R2 was brought in to the equation.
If anyone is able to provide any assistance that would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Hartz.

  • Migrating clients from one DHCP server (in forest A) to a new DHCP server (in forest B)

The scenario:  clients have recently been migrated from one forest to a new forest but are currently using the DHCP server located in the old forest.  The goal is to force the clients to start leasing from the new DHCP server in the new forest
as soon as possible.  The users are still on the same network segment with the same address range.  There is currently DNS forwarding between the two forests.

Keep in mind, during the transition, DNS for both the old forest and the new forest must have resolution setup between them, such as using Forwarding. This way with configuring DNS for DHCP clients (DHCP option 006), they'll still be able to resolve
the new forest name still using the old DNS. However, keep in mind, registration will not work until you switch over to the new forest's DNS.
As for Option 015, the Connection Specific Search Suffix, I would avoid using that until all machines have been migrated.

  • VPN no longer working after moving DHCP server to router

I am preparing my SBS 2008 environment for migration to Server 2012 R2 Essentials.  I moved the DHCP server to the router (a Netgear R7000 with standard firmware).  I am able to access RWW and CompanyWeb via the router from external locations.
With the VPN, however, I can only connect but cannot access any network resource (including file shares).  The VPN is supported by the SBS server with RRAS.  I didn't change any of the configuration because I didn't think any of it needed to be changed.  The
router just needs to get it's reservations from a different DHCP server, right?  Anyway, would appreciate if someone can shed some light on what's going on here.

  • DHCP Failover, one DHCP Server Partners Supnet is deactivated, Clients losing network connectivity for 3 sec. after renewing they IP Adress

    Hello,
currently we are using two W2K12R2 DHCP server configured in "load balance Mode". On DHCP1 the IP-scope with failover partnership to DHCP2 is deactivated. DHCP2 is working fine. Now we register that 50 percent of our clients (W2K8R2 application
server) losing the network connectivity for 3 sec. after rereleasing they IP-Address. On DHCP2 servers eventlog we receive a lot of
BINDING ACK reject events 20291 and 20292 for these IP addresses entries.
These 3 sec. of loosing they Network connectivity is our big Problem because the Client application (W2K8R2 application server) cannot handle these timeout. It looks like a
DISCOVER-OFFER-REQUEST-NAK cycle that are described here:

there is a solution to prevent the 3 sec network failure?
    Rgds

    Hi Steffen,
Have you applied KB2919355 in the server?
If issue persists, please check the detailed information about the event. It will tell us why does the server send the NAK.
    Best Regards.

    Any suggestions,
    Thank you in advance,

Just to help someone who has the same issue.
I found this on the web site:
When the server receives a DHCPREQUEST from a client in the RENEWING (or REBINDING) state, it normally grants the renewal only if the client has an unexpired lease with this server. Otherwise the server ignores the request; the server to which the client is bound should answer the client. (The only exception is normally that if a server is sure the IP address the client is asking for is inappropriate for the client, the server will send a DHCPNAK, which forces the client back to the INIT state.)
    Thank you anyway

  • DHCP Failover / Migrate DHCP Server to another Machine

We have DHCP Server Installed in Domain Controller with Windows Server 2008 R2 Based OS.
I have Checked that there is no way to make the DHCP Failover in Server 2008 R2.
Can anyone help me to get some level of Failover in DHCP?
    or
If I want to migrate the DHCP to Server 2012 what is the Best Practice?

    Hello,
There is no big challenge for configuring DHCP failover in Windows 2008 platform. Kindly go through with this link for configuring DHCP failover. I am sure it will help you to completing your task.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee405263(v=ws.10).aspx
Process of Migration DHCP Server 2008R2 to Windows 2012
    • Firstly, you can disable the DHCP role in Windows Server 2008 R2. However, if the Windows Server 2012 is down, the clients cannot renew their IP lease duration and obtain IP address.
Therefore, it is recommended to leave the DHCP role in Windows Server 2008 R2 and deploy high availability. Windows Server 2012 brings the new feature: DHCP failover. However it requires both DHCP Servers are Windows Server 2012. Consider another Server
is Windows Server 2008 R2, we have to choose one of the following:
    >> DHCP in a Windows failover cluster. This option places the DHCP server in a cluster with an additional server configured with the DHCP service that assumes the load if the primary DHCP server fails. The clustering deployment option uses
a single shared storage. This makes the storage a single point of failure, and requires additional investment in redundancy for storage. In addition, clustering involves relatively complex setup and maintenance.
    >> Split scope DHCP. Split scope DHCP uses two independent DHCP servers that share responsibility for a scope. Typically 70% of the addresses in the scope are assigned to the primary server and the remaining 30% are assigned to the backup server.
If clients cannot reach the primary server then they can get an IP configuration from the secondary server. Split scope deployment does not provide IP address continuity and is unusable in scenarios where the scope is already running at high utilization of
address space, which is very common with Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4).

  • Unable to find DHCP-server after 5 minutes?

When I turn on my MacBook and jack in the network cable, the network and internet works perfectly. But after 5 minutes somehow it loses the ip-address gained from the dhcp-server and assigns his own ip-address. Trying to refresh dhcp settings doesn't work, and when I restart my mac, it works again... for 5 minutes, then it loses it's connection again.
I have 2 pc's connected to the same switch and they function beyond 5 minutes, so the problem is definitely with the mac. Does anyone have a clue what this could be?

Does your mac have any PPPoE settings configured in the SystemPreferences>Network>Built_In>..PPPoE tab...?
My guess is that you don't need anything other than standard TCP/IP settings.
    Let us know, alstublieft?

  • Migrating DHCP Server From OpenSuse to Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard

    Hello,
I'm planning to migrate a DHCP server from OpenSuse to Windows Server 2008.
Is there any procedures for that ,Or should i configure my Windows server 2008 DHCP service again.
    Thank you

    Hi,
I have done somthing similar in the past. Basically i got exported all the scopes and settings from the linux dhcpd service, then created the scopes in Windows, stop linux dhcp service and start windows one. Use conflict detection setting to leverage any
    IPs lease from linux server.
    Hope it helps.

  • System performance degrades after server migration ???

    Hi Friends,
System performance degrades after we migrate our BW 3.5 Server (Production) from UK to Germany.
    for details :
    1. Data is coming to Informatica server from Informatica its going to POSDM Server (Point of Sales Data Management) from POSDM we are running pipes and data is coming to BW (Delta Queqe)
so before Server Migration it was taking 2 Hrs to load 4 Million Records
After Server Migration it is taking 4 Hrs.
Please help out to find the reason for this.
Note : Server Ram , Hard Disk , Speed is same on both Servers
    Thanks

Are you cahnge any application or database parameter (the OS and all patch'es are the same?)
How you doing migration? Very low information... Are you check the network configuration are the same( for example check the network speed 1G or 100MB).
Are you trying to analyse the St03N and St04 t-codes?

  • How to migrate DNS, DHCP Server from 2003 to 2012

    Hi all,
I have one old server running server 2003, and i need to migrate the dns and dhcp server to server 2012.
I found all the articles, there are only migrate from 2003 to 2008 or 2008 to 2012.
Is there anyway to migrate it?
    Thanks.

Really confused why the "answer" to this thread states it can't be done, when clearly it can.  This is the official approach (article dated Oct 2013):
Migrate DHCP Server to Windows Server 2012 R2
Within, you'll see that it says:
This guide provides instructions for migration of a DHCP server from a server that is running Windows Server 2003 or a later operating system to a server running Windows Server 2012 R2. Supported operating systems are listed in the following table.

  • DHCP Server does not work after Exporting and Importing Using Netsh Command

    Hello Friends :
I had two dhcp servers in windows server 2003 server , I have upgraded one of them to windows server 2008 32 bit and again i installed a windows server 2008 R2 as an additional Domain Controller , the last scenario was like this :
    srv-1 : windows server 2003 + DHCP = working with no problem
    srv-2 : windows server 2003 + DC + DHCP = Worked without problem
    srv-3 : windows server 2008 R2 + DC = worked without any problems
I exported the DHCP server configuration on the srv-2 using netsh dhcp server export and Imported them to srv-3 using the
netsh dhcp server import command , the command completed successfully and i can see all of the scopes without any problems and errors , i have authorized the new server without any problem , all scopes are activated without any problem so i
disabled the srv-2 DHCP service and unauthorized it from active directory , the problem is that the new server semms that does not lease any address to clients !!!
    1- I have authorized it
2- I used Rogue Checker tool in client computers they see authorized server without any problems
3- The same tool in workgroup only shows srv-1 as the DHCP server and does not see other DHCP servers
4- Bindings are OK and DHCP servers only have one NIC installed on them
What can i do to make sure my srv-3 DHCP server will work on the network ?
    thanks ...
    MIMO

Are the clients on another network so you need to configure a DHCP relay agent?
If you load up perfmon on the dhcp server and remove all counters and then add DHCP counters. Do you see any dhcprequests when you reboot your dhcp clients? This will determine if your server actually receives any dhcp requests.
Have you check event viewer for any warnings or errors?
And the classic one restarted the dhcp server service (or reboot)?
