Just switching from CS4 & LR5 on Windowns desktops to CS+LR monthly subcription for Mac, with catalogues, files etc residing on external HDD (multi-location living; lots of travel). The switch should be straight forward but I would start by uninstalling LR 5. This is because there is no specific CC version of Lightroom and you can’t run the creative cloud version and the perpetual version on the same machine. Your catalog and images will be safe and will not be affected by uninstalling. CS4 will not be affected and will still work independently.
Then launch CC desktop and go to the Apps tab. I would recommend installing in this order:
Photoshop CC 2014
Photoshop CC (if you need this to run old plug-ins)
Lightroom 5
If you install in that order LR will automatically recognize Photoshop for external editing from the LR Library. -

Windows Explorer hangs when I switch from InDesign CC to my desktop. Also weird mouse behavior.
I am using a brand new computer running Windows 7 64-bit.
I am also using Adobe CC for the first time. Downloaded InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat last week, and I'm using mostly InDesign so far.
My issue: When I switch from InDesign to, say, check my Outlook in box, sometimes I can't click on anything at all, including "Show Desktop." I am only able to get functionality back by doing a Ctrl-Alt-Del and then cancelling the Task Manager when it appears. Then the mouse forgets that I mouse left-handed, for a few seconds. After that, everything works right.
Anyone else see this issue?
System specs:
Processor: AMD FX 8350 8-core 4.00 GHz
RAM 8 MB
Windows 7 Professional SP1
64-bit OS
Dedicated graphics card with 1 GB memoryRT does work, but the exact same description as the original post is what I observe.
Specifically:
0. using Surface (original) RT
1. added RWW site to Compatibility Mode
2. added RWW to trusted sites
3. installed self-signed cert
then can:
a. log into RWW
b. connect to server desktop - choose server
c. get IE 32-bit only error - click ok
d. get prompted for connection settings
e. get vbscript error
f. back at connect to server desktop screen - choose server again
g. get IE 32-bit only error - click OK
h. get prompted for connection settings
i. get username/password/domain login screen
j. successfully login
I was glad to find this post, because I just figured it didn't work the first time I tried it, and never tried twice in a row. Nice to know I can use my Surface to remote in using RWW when needed. -
I have a game I've written in AS3 class files. I've been
compiling with CS4. The first frame of the main timeline has one
line of code that calls a static method on a class, and passes it
"this" (the main timeline). This is all the code the .fla contains;
the .as files do everything. However, there are visual assets in
the library of the .fla that the code needs to instantiate. Some of
these assets are linked to class files, and some are not. In other
words, say I have LinkedClass.as linked to library symbol, and
another library symbol which is being exported for actionscript
with no corresponding .as file, so the NonLinkedClass is
automatically generated when the .fla is compiled. My static method
contains both "new LinkedClass()" and "new NonLinkedClass()".
I've set up an actionscript project in flex with one new
class that I didn't have before when I was using CS4. In the
constructor for this class, all I have is the same line of code I
had on the first frame of the main timeline before, the static
method that gets passed "this". (Does "this" still refer to the
main timeline? In other words, is the class I'm compiling in my
actionscript project in flex becoming the main class of a swf?)
1. Is this even the right way to go about doing this? I'm
pretty lost here. I've gone through tutorials having to do with
MXML, but I'm not sure what relation they bear, if any, to what I
want to do. How do I make something that compiled in CS4 compile in
flex? (Keeping in mind, I have custom classes linked to library
symbols, and also library symbol with no custom class, for which
classes are defined automatically when CS4 compiles.)
2. When I tried to compile the flex project, I got an error
for NonLinkedClass, so I used CS4 to compile a .swc and added that
.swc to the library for the flex project, and then I no longer got
the error for NonLinkedClass. However, I continue to get errors for
LinkedClass. LinkedClass has variables defined in the .as file, and
display objects are assigned to those variables because I've put
display object instances inside the library symbol LinkedClass is
linked to and named them after the variables. This works fine when
I compile with CS4, but with flex, these variables are coming up
null. I tried adding this code to LinkedClass.as
[Embed(source="pathToMyGameSwf/game.swf",
symbol="LinkedClass")]
but I get an error
"An Embed variable must not have an existing value."
Am I anywhere near the right track? Is there a tutorial
for this problem specifically, that is, trying to port a

Copy them from the folders
/Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/Actions
and
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Presets/Actions
into the analogous CS5-folders.
(~ meaning your user account)
Edit: Previously unsaved CS4-Actions you would need to save first (or save them directly into the CS5-folders). -
Just switched from H20 to T Mobile. For some reason I am only picking up 2G instead of 4G Network on this phone. Is there a way to get a carrier update to fix this? I have other T Mo devices at same location and they are all picking up 4G service

IIt was in my mind to load office then transfer. After to load paralels and transfer my windows system. I have a new copy of office for Mac plus paralels PC to Mac transfer version 8. As this is my first mac (I have ipads and iphones) I am unsure of what to do. Also to confuse matters I use a windows laptop as my sync machine for the phones and ipads (i do have a cloud account with backup) can I transfer both machines to my new imac? I will have a 1tb fusion drive + 2tb time capsule although I only have less than 400GB of data on both machines. Hope this is not too confusing for everyone but I am looking forward to sorting this mess out by just using the one machine.
Use the Office for Mac and ignore using Parallels for that. If you have PC only apps you have to run that are MS Windows only then consider Parallels. Just transfer your main PC, using Migration Assistant. If you don't know how then simply read over Pondini's article called Lion or Mountain Lion Setup Assistant tips and look for the section on migrating from a PC. Millions have done what you are about to, it's far from leading edge these days, if you go to an Apple Store to purchase they will offer this as a service, something you might be interested in.

New router (switched from Linksys to Netgear 750 - HP J4680 printer all in one - and MAC
My husband puchase a new router - (we were told our old router failed on us) - we had no problems setting up the netgear 750 from the linksys router we originally had - we have a MACBook Pro
My HP printer J4680 - ran beautifully before the router switch - now will only work when directly connected from MAC to printer.
We have had several people troubleshoot for us -( we live in the country - no IT personnel nearby) - no one can seem to get the connection going between the two devices - I reinstalled the printer - read and reread the troubleshooting manual on both router and printer - and performed all the recommendations listed. The basic setup instructions on the HF printer say that despite the proximity of the printer and the router the signal in only fair and that it appears to have a "security" issue - I turned off the firewall settings on computer - no change in status.
we are contemplating returning the Netgear 750 for another linksys - could someone please tell me how or if we can solve this problem w/o having to return the router?
We purchased this particular router for the MAC compatability - the wireless printer is fairly new <<5yrs old and never had any problems w/it.

I saw your post about the connection issues you are having with your new router, Mac computer and Officejet J4680. I understand you have done some troubleshooting already however, I have a suggestion or two for you to try.
On your Mac, try:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
Repair disk permissions
Restart the Mac
Re-add the printer (do not use the AirPrint driver)
Test print
Next contact the router company or your internet service provider to check the settings on your new router. There may be a setting that is blocking the connection to your printer:
Network name and password need to have no spaces or punctuation
If using WPA2 security, switch to WPA personal
Dual broadcast Wireless b/g/n (printer will only connect to g)
Mac filter needs to be turned off
Firewall settings need to be at there default settings, or set to a lower security
Multicasting "on"
Following ports need to be un-blocked:
Incoming (UDP) ports : 137, 138, 161, 427
Outgoing (TCP) ports : 137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500

Indeed PC versions can be retrieved somewhere, I guess, but not for the Mac.

Hello all,
I'm a professor and I'm accepting word files for student assignments.
When the assignments are made on a pc, when I receive them I get all the figures messed up.
Same thing happened with my word files from my old PC to my new MacBook Air.
It is very important for me to get this to work, because all my class notes are written on a pc word.
They are all in docx format and have been authored with word 2010 I believe for the pc, and are opened by MacOffice 2011 on the mac.
Note: I don't have any problems with my powerpoints - only the word files.

As far as I have understood, there is no problem with ExportPDF. You might need to check whether the fonts in your PDF are embedded or not.
For this, open the PDF in Reader/Acrobat and go into File>Properties and click on Fonts tab to check for the same.
If the fonts used in the PDF are not present in the system, then MS Word may not be able to retain the layout of the file.

How to switch from Airport Extreme to Airport Time Capsule ?
Switching from Air Port Extreme to the Airport Time Capsule.
Software for the older AP Extreme is up to date. Airport Utility 5.6.1
When I disconnect the Extreme and re-connect the Timecapsule I get the follwoing software update message:
"This version of AirPort Utility (meaning 5.6.1) doesn't support this AirPort wireless device and might improperly configure the device if you continue to use it. Check www.apple.com/support/airport for the latest version of AirPort Utility."
However, I am no longer connected to the Internet and therefore cannot download the new Airport Software.
Stumped ?
Any thoughts ?

you can copy you menu set from CS4 to CS5.

I recently called Adobe to switch over from Adobe Design Standard Subscription (CS5) to the CS6 Adobe Cloud subscription for the intro rate of $29.99.
Ever since then I've been getting prompts such as:
Unable to validate your Adobe Muse subscription: We haven't been able to validate your Adobe Muse subscription for some time. Please connect to the Internet in order to continue using Adobe Muse.
I have had consistent daily access to the internet so I do not understand why this window/prompt continues to appear when I open MUSE. Well it used to. Now I'm unable to use Muse.
I recieved an e-mail saying my Adobe subscription has been downgraded and I'm also wondering what that means? Is it for my CS6 cloud subscription or for my older CS5.5 subscription which also appears on my account details page as Adobe Cloud 1 - year Subscription.I also have had the exact same expereince, down to every detail you mentioned including the email execpt that I switched from the full price cloud subscritption (which I pre-signed up for) to the discounted price which I was informed I was approved for after the first payment was already taken..
So far photoshop and Illustrator seem to be fine. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Muse from the Application manager. Help! -

Hi There, I seek some advice how to switch from a Android 2.2 to BB10. I already searched for some information, and most pages advise, that I should download the device switch app to both devices and the app will perform all steps required. Unfortunately, my Android device has the version 2.2.1. and the device switch app required 2.3 and my device can't be upgraded. Is there any way to transfer data from the android device to the BB10? hi, normally you can sync your contacts on your bb 10 device with your email accounts. for transferring your contacts to a bb 10 device, sync your android phone with your gmail account first and then sync your bb 10 device with your gmail account. for transferring other stuff like pics, music etc. i think you need to use a pc/mac for bridging. you won't regret switching i used android for a long time and also use ios at the moment. in my opinion, bb 10 is the most advanced mobile os together with sailfish os on the market. but people do not see that and just go for specs of the devices, not performance and security. regards
