Synchronization on a wireless PDA

Is it, or will it be possible to sychronize directly between sun ONE calendar and a wireless PDA?(pocket pc with 802.11b)
It would be nice to avoid having to place the PDA in the docking station before it can sync. Anybody know if Sun plans to make synchronization software directly to the PDAs?
Regards
Morten

I've been searching for an answer to your questions for months...... I do not believe Sun has anything approaching wirless sync in development.
Very frustrating.

  • Pda Wireless

    I am developping an wireless PDA application on IPAQ 2490 with Labview 8.0 and i have this behavior
    - I have a primary loop wich read and receive continiously the TCP-IP data from computer and show it. on PDA Question here, If i dont receive continiously, i lost the wireless communication after few second. This behavior doesn't not appear un standard TCP connection, It is normal ???
    - I have a second loop in parralel with queuing message. When this loop call a VI with "Open on call option" and this VI start to execute, my primary loop stop. It is normal than only the VI on the top window can run and it stop all the loop in the caller vi.
    Thank you

    Like you see, it 's Labview PDA does not support multithreading. Fortheremore, i remember  Win95 with Labwiew 2.2 it was not multithread (even the operating system) but it can run parallel loop with calling VI. But i will make the suggestion for Labview PDA.
    For the moment, i programming my appllication in one big VI. My diffrents Window is differents Tabs containing my controls and indicators wich appears and disapears with a loop ping the TCP-IP.

  • Can't synch calendar wirelessly

    I can't get calendar to synch wirelessly (will only synch manually). I found other posts with people experiencing the same problem, which led me to the following suggestion:
      Uninstall the current version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    Install BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 4.3 or earlier (I'm running 5.0.1 and my IT guys did a wireless activation, which I surmise means we're running BES 4.0 or later).
    However, I ran into a dead end when trying to download DM 4.3, as I found another string of posts that end with DM prior to 4.7 are no longer supported by RIM. Can somebody help, either with downloading DM 4.3, or synching calendar wirelessly with DM 4.7 or later?
    All this without asking the obvious question of why in the world would RIM stop supporting wireless calendar synchronization, which (other than email) is one of the main reasons for having a bby in the first place!

    Hello miginsf and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Does your Address Book, Memos and Tasks sync wirelessly?
    If you are using BlackBerry Enterprise Service then you should have a Desktop [CICAL] Service book (found under Options -> Advanced Options -> Service Book)
    Also, to check your Calendar has been enabled for wireless, in your BlackBerry Calendar hit the Menu key and go to Options. Under Calendars you should see Desktop. If you select this Calendar, you should Yes for Wireless Synchronization.
    To synchronize your Calendar wirelessly, do don't need the Desktop Manager. However, if you are not using the BlackBerry Enterprise Service, then you would need the Desktop Manager. What is the mail client you use for your Calendar (Outlook? Groupwise? Lotus?)
    Let me know what settings you have.
    Thanks!

  • WLC not synchronize with NTP

    Hi,
    I need some help, I have configured my ntp server server in my WLC but i jut noticed that the time is not syncronized. I am able to ping the ntp server in my WLC. Appreciate if someone can help me to correct this problem.

    Hi Jong,
    There are some good examples and troubleshooting ideas in this doc;

  • Want to wireless sync AND sync to outlook (one-way is OK)

    For a long time I have just been syncing to outlook on my desktop. Now my job requires that I have wireless sync to the online calendar at work. Only my calendar syncs wirelessly. I can still sync notes, tasks, contacts to outlook.
    I would like to be able to do at least a one-way sync from device to outlook. I tried temporarily disabling the wireless sync on the calendar, but it didn't work.
    So, in a nutshell, how can I wirelessly sync to my work calendar, AND desktop sync to outlook at home.
    Is there a work-around for this?

    Hi plovett and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums!
    Just to clarify, you only want to synchronize your calendar wirelessly to work and the rest you want to synchronize with your desktop at home?

  • PDA-based Tools for Producer/Directors?

    Anyone know of a PDA-based tool or suite of tools to help a Producer/Director keep track of a small production? Stuff like shot sheets, scheduling, location tracking, ability to import storyboards, etc. Maybe even sophisticated project management stuff, too.
    I know there are vanilla project management apps out there, but I was wondering if someone knew of anything customized (or customizable) for independent film and video production.
    I'd prefer to carry a PDA, like I used to use my venerable old Newton. But I suppose if the only solutions needed to run on a full-featured laptop, I could live with that.
    Anyone have any referrals for me? Thanks in advance.

    Good idea!
    A construction company here in San Francisco used wireless PDAs with its crew to keep each worker up to date with their duties on the project. Took several monthes off the work time.
    I wish there was a Mac OS PDA out there. Smaller pen friendly computers are far more useful that notebooks for a lot of work.
    As for software for Producers/Directors. I am going to check out Versiontracker's Palm section and then PDAGold.com My PDA is Win Mobile 5, so, I have to weed through all the palm software to find WM5 programs.
    Someone with some SQL skills would make a killing with a PDA app for us to keep track of projects in the field.

  • Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC compatibility with Belkin 802.11b PDA card

    Hello,
    I was recently given a Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC and I'm trying to sync it to my IMAC using my internet connection. I'm running OS X 10.3. Dell's website stipulates that the compact flash card that I need is an 802.11b model. I purchased a Belkin 802.11b Wireless PDA Network Card to satisfy this stipulation, but upon investigation of the software I find that I need to be running at least Windows 98 with Window CE embedded. Is there anyway of me getting around this with my MAC???? To further complicate matters, when I attach the pocket pc to my USB port it isn't even recognized. Is this because it's a Windows device??? Is there any work-around for this?????
    Thanks

    Prakash,
    Thanks for contacting National Instruments.  According to hp's website, the 2490 does have a type II slot.  Also, if you look at the datasheet for the CF-6004 it states that it is a Type II card.  Let us know if you have anymore questions.

  • 9IAS Wireless 2.0 beta example deploy problem

    Hi,
    I already posted this in the metalink AppServer forum, before I discovered this one, maybe I have more luck here.
    I just installed the 9IAS Wireless (2.0 beta) and now try to get the examples running. The application/examples delivered from Oracle work fine, but trying to deploy my own example as described step by step in 9iAs Wireless Getting Started and System Guide just gives me a "Error occured or session expired. Check system log or relogin" in the Wireless PDA Simulator.
    The logfile shows the following exception :
    [ApplicationServerThread] rt.common.Controller.reportServiceInvocationError(Controller.java:958)

    Can you put the code of HelloMStest on the forum? First of all, thanks for your help. I will try and check your hints immediately.
    Code is here (just a very simple test taken from the Wireless System guide) :
    HelloMS.jsp :
    <?xml version = "1.0" encoding = "ISO-8859-1"?>
    <%@ page contentType="text/vnd.oracle.mobilexml; charset=ISO-8859-1" %>

    </SimpleForm>
    </SimpleContainer>
    </SimpleResult>
    return/HelloReturnMS.jsp :
    <?xml version = "1.0" encoding = "ISO-8859-1"?>
    <%@ page contentType="text/vnd.oracle.mobilexml; charset=ISO-8859-1" %>
    <%
    String name = request.getParameter("UserName");
    %>
    <SimpleResult>

    </SimpleText>
    </SimpleContainer>
    </SimpleResult>
    Putting these files somewhere into the ias2v20/wireless/j2ee/applications directory and then setting up the service with the Wireless Studio Tools should actually not be too hard. But so far, I had no luck.

  • Apple AirPort Express - use only as wireless audio gateway

    Hello!
    I use a Samsung Notebook (Q35) and iTunes extensively. My WLAN (801.11 g) connection is already set up with an existing access point and router - but what I really want to do is to make up a wireless audio connection between iTunes and my stereo system. Sounds like the AirPort Express is the right thing to do - but, please, can anybody tell me
    a) if I can use both my existing WLAN network and the AirPort Express as ONLY audio gateway to my stereo TOGETHER at the same time (I do not want to include the AirPort into my WLAN-DSL network - I only want to use it as audio gateway to the stereo),
    b) which performance I can expect in such configuration (does surfing the internet slow down the audio link in such configuration)?
    c) can I use the AirPort Express to take up an extrenal harddrive in such a configuration?
    Do You have any suggestions of alternatives for a wireless audio gateway to the stereo? Are there other, generally useable ways?
    Thanks very much for Your answer in advance.
    Björn
    P.S.: Do You know - can I use the USB connector in the AirPort Express to connect to a USB hub - and use it to connect it to my iPod and synchronize my iPod wireless?

    hi Björn,
    a) if I can use both my existing WLAN network and the AirPort Express as ONLY audio gateway to my stereo TOGETHER at the same time (I do not want to include the AirPort into my WLAN-DSL network - I only want to use it as audio gateway to the stereo),
    the Airpor Express can be configure to join your existing WLAN. so as a part of your local network, it will be an accessible device while you can still used your internet.
    b) which performance I can expect in such configuration (does surfing the internet slow down the audio link in such configuration)?
    i haven't notice a significant slow down while i'm surfing internet and streaming AirTunes but i'm not able to tell you how much bandwidth AirTunes actually needs.
    c) can I use the AirPort Express to take up an extrenal harddrive in such a configuration?
    No, only the new Airport Extreme n base station can support AirDrive but the Airport Extreme base station does not have the AirTunes features.
    Do You have any suggestions of alternatives for a wireless audio gateway to the stereo? Are there other, generally useable ways?
    personnally, i do beleive that the AirTunes features you will get with the Airport Express is the better alternative since you already use iTunes for your playback.
    P.S.: Do You know - can I use the USB connector in the AirPort Express to connect to a USB hub - and use it to connect it to my iPod and synchronize my iPod wireless?
    to my knowledge, the usb socket on the Airport Express can only be used by a USB printer or a AirTunes remote control. you will not be able to synchronize your iPod on the Airport Express.

  • Synchronizing the iPhone wirelessly?

    Hi,
    Is there any way to synchronize the iPhone wirelessly? The thing is that I like to synchronize it often, because I like my data to be updated. However, I don't like to plug it in too often, because it recharges my battery each time. And charging the battery too often makes its life expectancy shorter.
    Any suggestion?

    The iPhone battery cannot be overcharged (unless it is defective). When the battery is fully charged, charging stops. The battery is designed to retain 80% of it's capacity after approximately 400 full charge cycles. A full charge cycle is 0% to 100%. Four partial charge cycles of 75% to 100% would equal 1 full cycle. I put my phone on a charger all night every night and have not had any battery capacity problems.
    See this article about the iPhone battery. http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html

  • New to FIOS, Can't Browse With Mobile Device

    I recently switched from DSL to FIOS.  I have the Actiontec mi424wr Rev. E router.  Everything has been working well with the exception of my wireless PDA.  It connects to the wireless network ok but I an not able to browse the internet with the device.   It is a Pharos GPS/PDA Phone 600 with Windows Mobile 6.0.  It seems to work with any other WIFI.
    It seems to me that it must be something with the firewall but I have not been able to figure it out.  Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

     Check and see if your PDA will alow you to create a connection where you can enter the SSID and WEP encryption key. Both can be found on the back of your Actiontec router. Your PDA can probably see the SSID from the router, but it needs the key.

  • Shopping for a T61 - questions about the OS and various h/w options

    Hi,
    I am considering buying a Thinkpad T61, but it's been a while since I have bought a computer, let alone a laptop, so I thought I'd ask a few questions here.
    I have worked on several Thinkpads T-series at work before, and I liked them, but they were all provided to me by my employers.
    I am browsing the different models on the Lenovo Canada web site; the US site looks just the same.
    The use I would make of the computer is typical office work (Word, Excel, e-mail), synchronize data with a PDA, Internet browsing, some limited web (PHP) and image editing (Paint shop pro), and listening to digital music. On occasion, watch a movie on DVD.
    I don't play 3D games.
    I would use the computer with a docking station and an external keyboard, LCD monitor and mouse when I am at home.
    I am looking at the T61 models with 15-inch widescreen, integrated graphics and no mobile broadband.
    1.) Operating system: obviously, Vista is recommended by Lenovo, but I have heard so many negative comments on this OS that I wonder if I shouldn't stick to XP. Even on this forum, I see posts about problems with Vista. Any advice on that?
    2.) I already have a license for XP on my previous machine. Assuming I buy the Vista with this one, then I would legally have the right to install either system on it, right?
    I know the machine doesn't come with an install CD, but if I get one somewhere else, would I be able to install it, or does the OS come with some weird DRM system that will prevent me from installing another OS than the exact copy of the one that was shipped with it?
    I ask this because I'm fairly certain that I will want to change the way the system partitions are set up.
    (this might sound like a silly question, but the acronym DRM became so prominent in recent years that I want to make sure)
    3.) The website says that some T61 machines come with an integrated camera. Later on in the detailed descriptions, I don't see it mentioned anywhere. Which do and which don't come with the embedded web cam?
    4.) 15.4 WXGA TFT vs. 15.4 WSXGA+ TFT : what are the resolutions of each?
    5.) Hard drive: I would go with a 7200 rpm model. Is there any benefit to getting the 1GB drive cache?
    6.) DVD recordable option: how fast does it record CDs and DVDs ?
    Thank you in advance.
    Chris.-

    Hi Kevin
    about the speakers I cannot advice.
    Regarding the driver - if there is a driver update availabel from TOSHIBA (important!!) then use it! That means they have found some kind of bug in the original driver and released a fix for it. I do not recommend you to use the nVidia generic driver since it might make the PC behave bad. StandBy / Hibernation might stop working properly. Power consumption might go up....and so on.
    Regarding the BIOS. The BIOS'es are a special chapter - when upgrading the BIOS the machine re-writes a very special part of the 'hardware' (actually it's a software installed in a chip that does not go away when you turn the computer off, it is sometimes also called firmware). That firmware is needed (among other things) to get the machine to start and load the operating system.
    If the re-write process fails it could mean that the firmware is not able to start the machine anymore. And if the machine does not start at all, you will have no chance to retry writing the firmware. So that mean the machine will be dead and you will not be able to do anything about it except turning to an ASP and possibly pay for the service.
    So, that said, it is very important that you have a realiable powersupply (which you normally have with the AC Adapter) and that you make 100% sure that you use the correct BIOS-file.
    If you can accomplish those 2 small things there should be no problem upgrading the BIOS.
    BR
    Tom

  • Synchronizing Outlook calendar with my BB Curve 9300 calendar

    I have problems in setting up synchronization of my Outlook calendar on my PC with the BB calendar. According to the handbook, one has to open the calendar on the BB and then select "Options". Then one should activate synchronization by ticking "wireless sychronization" [Note: translation from German handbook; expression may be different from English version]. However, no such tickbox shows on my BB. What did I miss?

    Hello,
    Your BB has no ability to synchronize anything with your PC/Outlook wirelessly. None. All synchronization capabilities are between your BB and your email server. If you are BES, your BES admins can configure it. If you are not BES, then it is limited to GMail and Yahoo, I believe.

  • Slow local connections on WRT54GX

    I've had a WRT54GX since it came out, and haven't really had any issues with it except for a slow connection between local PCs.
    Since I've only had two PCs before and they didn't really share any significant data, I never really cared too much.
    However, now I've got 5 PCs and a wireless PDA,and I'd like to stream music and video between the PCs, or at least not wait two hours to copy a 500mb file from one PC to the next.
    I've currently got two PCs connected via CAT-5, one PC with a PCI GX adapter, and another PC is using a WET54GS5 wireless bridge. When downloading from the internet, I can get a sustained 300kb/sec throughput, but when I try to copy the same file from one PC to another, it takes a very long time -- 1gb of files can take up to 2.5 hours, even when copying between the PCs that are wired! This leads me to suspect the router, but I can't figure out what settings to change. The firmware is one rev. behind at 2.00.15, but the problem has been going on since I bought the router.

    well...if the router firmware is upgraded...then reduce the MTU size on the router to 1492 and download TCP Optimizer and run it...this should help u adjust the MTU settings of the NIC card ...
