System crash in VB using Win2000, Win98 is ok...?
Hi there,
my VB6 Program using the NI GPIB-32.dll crashes the whole system under Win2000 Prof. randomly, i cannot identify a special DLL call which causes the crash.
After the error occured, the system "stands" which means you can't even start the Task Manager and no "blue sceen" appears, the system simply stops. This is the reason i guess that this is a hardware error. I' using a PCI-GPIB board. The funny thing is that the program runs under the same PC system using Windows 98 without problems. I updated the Mainboards Bios, tried NI488.2 Versions 1.7 and 2.1, changed the gpibpci.sys (posted somewhere here) but the system crash is still there...soes anyone have an idea...?
Hi Dirk,
thank you for your reply.
I read somewhere here on the discussion forum about the ACPI mode but i have no idea where to disable this mode in Windows 2000 and configure to Standard-PC Mode. Could you explain this to me or send me a link to a description ? I do not get any message because the PC justs stops, no Taskmanager, no more input by keyboard or mouse is possible, only the Reset button can solve this problem. The NI Spy in failsave mode in the background also has no effect. I open the device (a DMM) correctly and so some measurements (read and write) in different modes (Volts/ Amps) and even on the first run of the program after a few seconds the crash happens. The program code is okay because it runs problem-free under Win98.

System crash attempting to use the packet filtering on Solaris 10, MU7
I have been attempting to port my kernel module to run on Solaris 10, MU7 (from MU6). Some changes to the packet filtering hooks interface requires me to make code changes and linker option changes i.e -Nmisc/neti -Nmisc/hook
I now have my module loading successfully and "hooking" packets. However, I am seeing instability and after processing in the order of 100-200 packets the system crashes. See stack dump beow for details.
Also note that initially my callback hook function is very simple i.e returns 0.
I require assistance on identifying the root cause. The key code fragements are as follows:
int _init()
// allocated a control block using net_instance_alloc
// populated the nin_name, nin_create, nin_destroy, and nin_shutdown fields with valid callback functions
// registered the control block using net_instance_register
static int _attach(dip, cmd)
dev_info_t *dip;
ddi_attach_cmd_t cmd;
// initialised a hook control block using HOOK_INIT
// performed a protocol lookup (using net_protocol_lookup) on the net_id provided by the nin_create function callback
// registered the hook with the net_id protocol using net_hook_register
static int
myipf_hook4_in (hook_event_token_t tok, hook_data_t info, void *arg) {
// simple callback function for test purposes
return 0;

Edited by: emonagh on Aug 25, 2009 1:56 AMI have checked weblogic download link.
Currently webloigc is only available only for below mentioned platforms:-
1. Windows (32 bit jvm)
2. Linux (32 bit jvm)
3. sun solaris (only SPARC) (32 bit JVM)
There is no generic installer available for weblogic 9.2
Thus what I want is weblogic 9.2 setup for x86 machine.
I have tried to run weblogic 9.2 setup for linux on sun solaris x86.
But it did not run, it also gave error message that some package is missing in /lib/.. folder..... -
My system crashes when i use my soundblaster on my KT6 delta LSR
(English is not my native language, so sorry for the mistakes)
Hi, i'm new here and i need help, i just bought a KT6 Delta LSR (integrated 5.1 sound) and i want to use my good old soundblaster live! 5.1 but when i disable de integrated sound and plug my sound card the system, in the middle of windows operation (windows always boot), all of a suddden crashes or simply the sound freezes and stay in the same sound over and over again and then the whole system hangs and i have to reboot the system.
I have no idea of what could be causing the problem...
When i use the integrated sound it works fine and in stranges cases (for example: when i'm connected to the internet for more than 30 minutes) the system hangs, but with the sound card would not work 15 minutes ok.
Hope you can help me.... ThanksHi, i have noticed something.... it seems like the sound card has nothing to do with the problem, because i also have my system hanging when i use my modem (which is also a pci device), so i guess that the problem is someway related to the pci bus, can anyone help me???
The system works fine when i don't use the sound card or the modem, if i put some music it hangs before the first song ends, and with the modem it takes like 30 miutes to freeze, and i have to reboot.
Wish someone can help me. -
System crashes when i use any input field after installing Maverick
Hello all.
I have a 2010 macbook air, and have just installed Maverick OS.
Now every time i go to any input field to type in a web address or apple id, the system crashes
and re-boots. Tried to alter keyboard properties nothing works.
I presume i will have to do a factory re-set, because i can not load any updates because I am asked
for apple ID, which i cant enter because computer crashes... Oh right i mentioned that already ;)
Help advice welcome!
Rgds from frustrated in Sweden!!!!There was an issue similar to this that was resolved with DAQmx 9.3 update. If you haven't done so already, update the driver to 9.3 and try again. If not, try opening an example (like, say, Hardware I/O->DAQmx->Analog Meas->Voltage->Cont Acq&Graph Voltage-Int Clk-Analog Start.vi), and try running that standard example. If the example works and you still have difficulty with your application, could you post information about your project and what navigational steps you take to make the error occur? Try also opening the VI inside and outside of a project (this would diagnose a symptom of the issue resolved by DAQmx 9.3).

Encore WT8 - system crashed trying to use camera
Try to take a picture with camera the screen got black, the tablet crashes, the blue led stays on and I can not restart.
Is there any reset button?
I have tablet only 4 days and I haved used all the functions yetHi
I would recommend you perform HDD recovery.
To enter the Recovery Menu you have to push the Volume + button and the Power On button in parallel for several seconds.
The menu should appear and now you could choose point HDD recovery.
Choose YES.
New menu will appear and here you have to choose point troubleshoot, then Reset your PC.
But note: choosing Reset your PC would remove your personal data and unit will be set to their default.
Then choose Next, choose just remove my files, and finally choose RESET. -
How to set workflow to prevent system crash?
Hi All,
I have created workflow to run every time that a customer is changed and then call customized program in background mode. 1 Change will trigger 1 workflow to create 1 file.
the workflow works fine with small amount of transaction. However, last time when we update 40000 customers using mass change (Transaction XD99). it caused the system crash. It used up all dialog process and background process.
How can I prevent that?
Thanks,
PhonNow here the condition is if the email id is not found you want to set the running step into error state right?
try to do like this
1. Set a flag as Email_Not_Found if this flag is set to X then pass the same value back to workflow conatiner and in the workflow tempalte define a condition step by using the same flag, if it is X then you raise a exception, Or you can simply loggically delete the workflow instance ,
2. If it is not X then the current running step should pass X back to workflow container and it should get completed successfully....
3. Here Instaead of raise exception, my advise is to simply Cancel the workitem by using the Process Control step, check the above mentioned article for more information about Process control step.... -
Entire System Crashes With iTunes
I've acer with Windows 7 and entire system crashes while i use ITunes. Had latest update, but to be sure went back to download 64 bit. Still crashed so uninstalled in case other version partially installed and then re-installed 64 bit. Still crashes.
Sorry 'bout the delay, Eva.
Since the last time we spoke, iTunes 10.1.0.56 was released. The primary bug fix was for the CoreAudioToolbox.dll related "iTunes has stopped working" messages, but I figure it's probably worth a check with your bsod too.
I don't know if it shows up for people in their Apple Software Update (It didn't for me yesterday when I checked). So get it from the installer available from:

Any impact on the problem? -
[VIA] Via K7-266 Pro2 - System crashes if use more than 512 MB of memory
Cannot use more than 512 MB of memory or system crashes. After running without a problem for over 2 years with 1 GB of memory installed, system started intermittent crashing, generally after 5 to 30 minutes of use. I worked with the system manufacturer's tech support and they determined that it must be a motherboard problem. I am hoping to find another fix rather than replacing motherboard. System details:
MB: Via K7-266 Pro2 (MS 6380)
OS: MS Windows XP Update 1
Bios: V3.6
I've used Norton Systemworks and Norton Anti-Virus to keep system clean, and SpyBot and Adaware to clean adware
During troubleshooting, we found that it will run with 512 MB of memory without problems, but not with the 1 GB I had installed. My memory was 2 x 256 MB installed with the machine and 512 MB I purchased from Crucial and installed. Computer ran over 2 years with all memory installed without a problem. After the problem started and during troubleshooting, we found that any combination of 512 MB worked fine (either the 2 x 256 MB or the one 500MB chip), apparently in any arrangement of slots. But as soon as I went to higher memory, I was subject intermittent crashes.
Could not ID the source of the crash. It sometimes happened when I was working with a single program open (various programs from IE to Excel to playing at GameSpy), had multiple programs open in background, or even when computer was sitting idle with only the startup programs active.
During troubleshooting we also did a complete re-install of Windows XP, updated the bios to V3.6, and checked bios settings, but the problems persists.
What else could be the problem?I am beginning to suspect a PSU problem. I neglected to mention in my first post that when the system crashes, it does not freeze but has intermittent reboots.
I ran the memtest86+ test first on the two old sticks of memory then on just the one new 512 MB stick; both passed the test. I also used the Prime95 stress test on both sets, and both ran without incident.
I used PC Alert to report CPU and case temperatures during the stress test. The results maxed at 54 and 41 degrees respectively during the first stress test and 46 amd 39 degrees during the second test (I think part of the difference was due to a lower ambient, room temperature during the second test.) The voltages reported during both tests were similar and were: Vcore1: 1.71v; Vcore2: 1.26v; +5v: 4.76v; 3.3v: 3.31v; +12v: 11.60v; and -12v: 12.60v. I am not sure if that information is meaningful, PCAlert showed all measurements as within the required range.
I periodically have cleaned the dust out of my computer, so I don't think that is the problem.
I used 2 power calculators with major differences in the reported status of the system. The test from pcpowercooling reported minimum and maximum requirements for my system (with the full 1 GB of memory installed) of 300w and 510w. The alternate I found at jscustompcs (from a recent article about power supplies at Extreme Tech) reported a minimuum of 256w (no maximum is calculated with their tool. The two tools had significant differences for memory, CPU, and PCI cards. Off particular relevance to my problem was the difference in memory requirements; Pcpowercooling calculated memory requirements at 8w per 128MGB while jcustompcs used 12.5 per stick, resulting in different totals of 64w vs. 21w. Which is right?
One item that makes me think it is not the PSU, however, is that the problem would occur with the 1 GB of memory while the system was idle, thus I was not using any of the hardware devices. However, I never experienced the problem while using a device (e.g. DVD, CDRW, or tape drive) - either with 500MB or 1GB of memory.
My power unit is a Power Man #FSP 300-60BTV with 300w output, including +3.3v: 28amps; +5v: 30.0 amps; +12v: 15 amps; +5vsb: 20amps; -5v: 0.3amps; -12v: 0.8amps. It also notes max output of +3.3v and +5v of 200amps.
My system also includes a Leadtek nVidia Geforce 3 Ti400 graphics card, DVD, CDRW, HP 14 GB tape drive, 1 case fan, and 4 PCI cards (modem, network, USB2.0, and Audigy 1). The USB card is connected only to a bus in my Dell monitor and I have not used other USB devices.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Do I need to replace the PSU? -

System crash at one end, extremely slow on the other: Using Adobe Connect.
The instructor side is a mac. I can get more info on that later. My system is a windows 7 based unit using Firefox 5.0. I will fill that in later but suffice it to say that all software is up to latest versions on both sides.
Using Adobe Connect for an online class, the instructor's Mac computer kept crashing. He could conduct the class for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, I saw that when he was connected, my system would slow down to slower than a crawl. If I were to type in these three lines, it would take 3 - 4 minutes just to show up on the screen. When his system crashed, my system would run fine and, as I was still linked to Connect I could talk and chat with the other students. I have the windows tachometer on the screen and it is pinned while he was on line and scarcely above 10 when he was not.
Does this make any sense?
When I check the task manager, it showed that Plugins_container.exe was taking up the CPU time. I looked into defeating the Plugin-Container but that didn't help. I changed over to Internet Explorer but that didn't help. I used a newly set up laptop and IE but that didn't help. It could be my fire wall but it only happend when his system is connected.
If anyone has amy insights on any of all this I would sincerely appreciate hearing about it.None of that is normal behaviour of Connect.
I suspect perhaps a network firewall or maybe anti-virus scanning.
I suggest that you install the latest Adobe Connect Add-In for the Host or anyone using VOIP audio. The new add-ins are posted to www.connectusers.com under downloads. A new one for each OS was posted a few weeks ago to go with Adobe Connect 8.1.1 and previous versions. -
System crashing after running a few applications/games after extended use
So, I know that everyone is going to say that temperature might be an issue, but I believe it might be due to a defect/software error because my CPU/GPU is very well cooled, and this only started very recently... I have taken all measures to get a new case,
more fans, clean out entire GPU and dusted everything very immaculately but it still seems to crash... I have no idea on how to see how/why my system crashed though.. there is no blue screen just a black screen.
Can anyone help me?https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=ED07DBB027FFA77F!673&authkey=!AKclPJjsvZjTELA&ithint=file%2c.rar

This one DMP is called a BCC124 and is hardware related. Since it references AuthenticAMD I would run the CPU stress test first.
You also really need to update to SP-1 as there are many bug fixes in it.
Stop 0x124 is a hardware error
If you are overclocking try resetting your processor to standard settings and see
if that helps.
If you continue to get BSODs here are some more things you may want to consider.
This is usually heat related, defective hardware, memory or even processor though
it is"possible" that it is driver related (rare).
Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try
Synopsis:
A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.
Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.
Generic "Stop 0x124" Troubleshooting Strategy:
1) Ensure that none of the hardware components are overclocked. Hardware that is driven beyond its design specifications - by overclocking - can malfunction in unpredictable
ways.
2) Ensure that the machine is adequately cooled.
If there is any doubt, open up the side of the PC case (be mindful of any relevant warranty conditions!) and point a mains fan squarely at the motherboard. That will rule out most (lack of) cooling issues.
3) Update all hardware-related drivers: video, sound, RAID (if any), NIC... anything that interacts with a piece of hardware.
It is good practice to run the latest drivers anyway.
4) Update the motherboard BIOS according to the manufacturer's instructions and clear the CMOS.
Their website should provide detailed instructions as to the brand and model-specific procedure.
5) Rarely, bugs in the OS may cause "false positive" 0x124 events where the hardware wasn't complaining but Windows thought otherwise (because of the bug).
At the time of writing, Windows 7 is not known to suffer from any such defects, but it is nevertheless important to always keep Windows itself updated.
6) Attempt to (stress) test those hardware components which can be put through their paces artificially.
The most obvious examples are the RAM and HDD(s).
For the RAM, use the 3rd-party memtest86 utility to run many hours worth of testing. (6-8 passes to stress the ram out)
For hard drives, check whether CHKDSK /R finds any problems on the drive(s), notably "bad sectors".
Unreliable RAM, in particular, is deadly as far as software is concerned, and anything other than a 100% clear memory test result is cause for concern. Unfortunately, even a 100% clear result from the diagnostics utilities does not guarantee that the RAM is
free from defects - only that none were encountered during the test passes.
7) As the last of the non-invasive troubleshooting steps, perform a "vanilla" reinstallation of Windows: just the OS itself without any additional applications,
games, utilities, updates, or new drivers - NOTHING AT ALL that is not sourced from the Windows 7 disc.
Should that fail to mitigate the 0x124 problem, jump to the next steps.
If you run the "vanilla" installation long enough to convince yourself that not a single 0x124 crash has occurred, start installing updates and applications slowly, always pausing between successive additions long enough to get a feel for whether
the machine is still free from 0x124 crashes.
Should the crashing resume, obviously the very last software addition(s) may be somehow linked to the root cause.
If stop 0x124 errors persist despite the steps above, and the hardware is under warranty, consider returning it and requesting a replacement which does not suffer periodic MCE events.
Be aware that attempting the subsequent hardware troubleshooting steps may, in some cases, void your warranty:
8) Clean and carefully remove any dust from the inside of the machine.
Reseat all connectors and memory modules.
Use a can of compressed air to clean out the RAM DIMM sockets as much as possible.
9) If all else fails, start removing items of hardware one-by-one in the hope that the culprit is something non-essential which can be removed.
Obviously, this type of testing is a lot easier if you've got access to equivalent components in order to perform swaps.
Should you find yourself in the situation of having performed all of the steps
above without a resolution of the symptom, unfortunately the most likely reason is because the error message is literally correct - something is fundamentally wrong with the machine's hardware.

Satellite M40: Win XP install after system crash- ser.number problem
Hello there,
i would like to ask you what shall i do. I bought new toshiba satellite m40 laptop about 5 years ago in London.
There was no Win XP recovery cd (no recovery partition on hdd as well), just cd with toshiba drivers in the box. Now my system crashed.
Took me long time to figure out what it was. (BSOD - "not ACPI compliant") I tried almost everything even HDD format.
Later on i completely dismanteled laptop, cleaned the dust inside and it works again - no BSOD.
Now i need to install my WinXP back. So i downloaded WinXP service pack 3 cd-rom and tried to install it.
It wont take my serial number which i have on a sticker on my toshiba.
Please help me, what shall i do?
I paid for WinXP (system was included in price) and now i cannot use it.Well, i was in London just few months when i bought that laptop. The guy in the store told me the box include everything - it was the way they got it. I didn't know how it works in London (well except the robb of in an exchange office on victoria train station first day and another one paying for a laptop in Computer store which had branches all around London and the company crashed and did not pay me back) and it was my first (delivered) laptop as well. Of course i asked why there is no Win XP cd (or recovery). I used to have many destops before starting with old good 386@20MHz. I was very well aware that i really need installation cd of windows, do remember loads of system crashes of Win95 and Win98. Maybe somebody took it out of the box, who knows. I am just 100% sure it was not there. So i reconciled myself with it, was a newbee there, didn't want to make problems. My fault. Another one was not buying recovery program (or use of that toshiba recovery creator) to make image of hdd. Those days imaging system was quite a new thing as well-at least for me. Few days ago I tried toshiba support web to find recovery cd, even e-bay, etc. to find and buy it. No chance. I can try to call Toshiba UK support centre, but i guess it will be the same answer.
You wrote your friend has got one as well, is it the type -225 ? Full name of it is: Toshiba satellite m40 -225. Different number means different hardware, but recovery cd of your friend might be compatible. Would it be possible to ask him to give/sale me an image of that disk? Toshiba support in my country cannot provide help or further info, is not comparable with the UK or US one. But thank you guys for answering me anyway! :-) Any idea welcomed.
EDIT: BSOD (not ACPI compliant) is unfortunatelly back, laptop works just in really cold (-10 C) environment. Restoration CD would be logical step to go. -
System crash after unhandled exception during pending A/D conversion
Anybody experienced similar phenomena and/or has a fix ?:
I'm using the DAQ components (6.0) for ActiveX (subset delivered with the NI-DAQ driver-CD) from VB 6.0 (SP6) to control measurements with a 6040/6070 E-series card.
The application starts a delayed (with CWpulse) A/D conversion and waits for the "acquired data" event. In the meantime, several other application-handled events can happen (mouse, kbd, timer, network link).
We have a watchdog application which monitores the main application, but...:
If there occurs an unhandled exception while the A/D conversion is pending, the system crashes after the "serious error..." message / error reporting of the O/S is confirmed - both on Win2000 and XP (SP1a). One can here the HDD retract and the (mostly) reboot. Two times, the system locked up so bad, it won't even restart until a complete power-cycle - of course at the customer's site... :-(
That kind of behaviour is reproduceable when I force an exception (e.g. div-by-zero) after the CWAI component was started.
I tried that on systems with NIDAQ 6.9.3 and also with 7.1, but both give me no chance to return to the O/S after the application failure.
Does anybody know about the reason for such unfriendly behaviour or can help me to solve that problem?
Any help will be much appreceated! While DAQmx is not officially supported through Visual Basic 6.0, it can be done. I am not a VB6 user and haven't tried it, but you can look at the following Knowledge Base explaining how to accomplish this. You can also look at the following MSDN article explaining how to access DLLs and the Windows API through VB. Essentially you end up making DLL calls as you normally would through VB using the DAQmx C API. I hope this helps.

IE crashes after extended use of plug-in
Hi all:
After moving to v1.4.2 I've noticed that IE will throw an exception after extended use of the plug-in. By extended use I mean we navigate to applet pages and cycle through over and over (which by the way is part of the normal use of our web site).
Our web site makes use of four different applets, one of which is a larger graphical applet that makes use of a large amount of memory. IE seems to consistely crash upon initialization of this larger applet (after repeated cycles) but not exclusively so. If we cycle between the three other applets without going to the larger one, IE will eventually crash, it just takes longer to do so. This leads me to think that memory is an issue here. Could there be a memory leak in 1.4.2?
We've been able to reproduce this IE exception consistently on a Windows 2000 platform running IE v6.0.2800.1106 and with java plug-in versions 1.4.2, 1.4.2_02, and 1.4.2_03. IE crashes even faster when we do this test on Windows Me.
I know there's got to be others of you out there that have seen this problem. Have any of you found good workarounds for this? Staying on version 1.4.1_06 is not possible for us because of the "zip file is closed" exception that is always thrown when you have caching turned on and you call Crypt.getInstance. Sun's workaround for this only works the first two times you use the applet in the browser session. The third or fourth time it always seems to produce the exception.
I know this isn't a lot of information but any help would be greatly appreciated.
The IE exception log is below.
