System crashing after running a few applications/games after extended use

So, I know that everyone is going to say that temperature might be an issue, but I believe it might be due to a defect/software error because my CPU/GPU is very well cooled, and this only started very recently... I have taken all measures to get a new case,
more fans, clean out entire GPU and dusted everything very immaculately but it still seems to crash... I have no idea on how to see how/why my system crashed though.. there is no blue screen just a black screen.
Can anyone help me?

Here it is

This one DMP is called a BCC124 and is hardware related.  Since it references AuthenticAMD I would run the CPU stress test first.
You also really need to update to SP-1 as there are many bug fixes in it.
Stop 0x124 is a hardware error
If you are overclocking try resetting your processor to standard settings and see
if that helps.
If you continue to get BSODs here are some more things you may want to consider.
This is usually heat related, defective hardware, memory or even processor though
it is"possible" that it is driver related (rare).
Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try
Synopsis:
A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.
Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.
 Generic "Stop 0x124" Troubleshooting Strategy:
1) Ensure that none of the hardware components are overclocked. Hardware that is driven beyond its design specifications - by overclocking - can malfunction in unpredictable
ways.
2) Ensure that the machine is adequately cooled.
If there is any doubt, open up the side of the PC case (be mindful of any relevant warranty conditions!) and point a mains fan squarely at the motherboard. That will rule out most (lack of) cooling issues.
3) Update all hardware-related drivers: video, sound, RAID (if any), NIC... anything that interacts with a piece of hardware.
It is good practice to run the latest drivers anyway.
4) Update the motherboard BIOS according to the manufacturer's instructions and clear the CMOS.
Their website should provide detailed instructions as to the brand and model-specific procedure.
5) Rarely, bugs in the OS may cause "false positive" 0x124 events where the hardware wasn't complaining but Windows thought otherwise (because of the bug).
At the time of writing, Windows 7 is not known to suffer from any such defects, but it is nevertheless important to always keep Windows itself updated.
6) Attempt to (stress) test those hardware components which can be put through their paces artificially.
The most obvious examples are the RAM and HDD(s).
For the RAM, use the 3rd-party memtest86 utility to run many hours worth of testing. (6-8 passes to stress the ram out)
For hard drives, check whether CHKDSK /R finds any problems on the drive(s), notably "bad sectors".
Unreliable RAM, in particular, is deadly as far as software is concerned, and anything other than a 100% clear memory test result is cause for concern. Unfortunately, even a 100% clear result from the diagnostics utilities does not guarantee that the RAM is
free from defects - only that none were encountered during the test passes.
7) As the last of the non-invasive troubleshooting steps, perform a "vanilla" reinstallation of Windows: just the OS itself without any additional applications,
games, utilities, updates, or new drivers - NOTHING AT ALL that is not sourced from the Windows 7 disc.
Should that fail to mitigate the 0x124 problem, jump to the next steps.
If you run the "vanilla" installation long enough to convince yourself that not a single 0x124 crash has occurred, start installing updates and applications slowly, always pausing between successive additions long enough to get a feel for whether
the machine is still free from 0x124 crashes.
Should the crashing resume, obviously the very last software addition(s) may be somehow linked to the root cause.
If stop 0x124 errors persist despite the steps above, and the hardware is under warranty, consider returning it and requesting a replacement which does not suffer periodic MCE events.
Be aware that attempting the subsequent hardware troubleshooting steps may, in some cases, void your warranty:
8) Clean and carefully remove any dust from the inside of the machine.
Reseat all connectors and memory modules.
Use a can of compressed air to clean out the RAM DIMM sockets as much as possible.
9) If all else fails, start removing items of hardware one-by-one in the hope that the culprit is something non-essential which can be removed.
Obviously, this type of testing is a lot easier if you've got access to equivalent components in order to perform swaps.
Should you find yourself in the situation of having performed all of the steps
above without a resolution of the symptom, unfortunately the most likely reason is because the error message is literally correct - something is fundamentally wrong with the machine's hardware.

  • Since I installed Mavericks, the system says it run out of applications memory

I only have opened Finder (no any other app) but my Mac says "the system has run out of application memory". I don't know what the problem is.
I have a Late-2011 Macbook Pro with 8 GB of RAM. When I enter to "Activity Monitor" I can see that a process called "mds" use a lot of GB of RAM and 100% of my CPU and also kernel_task uses like 5 to 6 GB of my 8 GB of RAM. I reinstalled the OS and still have the problem.
If someone can help me, I will be very grateful.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.

I have a brand new MacBook Pro.  I downloaded Mavericks, and I'm moving my information from my old MacBook Pro via Carbonite to my 2 day old MacBook Pro..  Carbonite tells me to continue to use my system...When I open Safari after a short period of time I get the Out of application memory dialog box.  I also use a Brand New IMac which is not having any problems but am I not using Carbonite until I figure out what the problem is.  So I went to the Activity Monitor and I see Safari using 8.5 GB of memory.  What do I need to do to fix this problem of  Out of application memory. As soon as I "Quit Process" for safari  in the Activity Monitor everything drops back to normal...example kenel_task went to 1.1 GB.  Note Mozella only uses 126 MB of memory.  IS the Issue Safari or something else?

  • System crash at one end, extremely slow on the other: Using Adobe Connect.

The instructor side is a mac.  I can get more info on that later.  My system is a windows 7 based unit using Firefox 5.0. I will fill that in later but suffice it to say that all software is up to latest versions on both sides.
Using Adobe Connect for an online class, the instructor's Mac computer kept crashing. He could conduct the class for about 10 minutes.  Meanwhile, I saw that when he was connected, my system would slow down to slower than a crawl.  If I were to type in these three lines, it would take 3 - 4 minutes just to show up on the screen. When his system crashed, my system would run fine and, as I was still linked to Connect I could talk and chat with the other students. I have the windows tachometer on the screen and it is pinned while he was on line and scarcely above 10 when he was not.
    Does this make any sense?
When I check the task manager, it showed that Plugins_container.exe was taking up the CPU time.  I looked into defeating the Plugin-Container but that didn't help. I changed over to Internet Explorer but that didn't help. I used a newly set up laptop and IE but that didn't help. It could be my fire wall but it only happend when his system is connected.
If anyone has amy insights on any of all this I would sincerely appreciate hearing about it.

None of that is normal behaviour of Connect.
I suspect perhaps a network firewall or maybe anti-virus scanning.
I suggest that you install the latest Adobe Connect Add-In for the Host or anyone using VOIP audio. The new add-ins are posted to www.connectusers.com under downloads. A new one for each OS was posted a few weeks ago to go with Adobe Connect 8.1.1 and previous versions.

  • LabVIEW program crashes after running for few hours

    Hello,
I am doing some experiments at the moment which are supposed to last for 18 hours.
Basically, I use a LabVIEW program to control a power supply through a LabJack U6 DAQ. I am currently using LabVIEW 8.5 on Windows 7.
In order to do that, I use a laptop where everything has been disabled such as power management settings, network access is off, windows updates are also off...
As far as I know, the computer can't turn into sleep mode or just shut down (I'm a 100% sure of that actually).
But last night, I started an 18 hours experiment at 5 pm, and when I came in this morning, the program shutted down by itself. Fortunately, the power supply is still providing the voltage I want, but I can't figure out why the program crashes.
When I start the experiment, it also automatically starting saving data in a spreadsheet file (I guess the size of the file should be 36 MB), so it might be a problem of memory access or something.
I really don't know what could have cause this crash, does someone have an idea?
I saw some other threads similar to my problem but I am not running an executable, I am running the front panel directly from the editing mode.

    Hi,
thank all of you for your quick answers!
@Josborne : I do not have an error handling in my program. Actually you can look at my program in the attachment file. This is my first LabVIEW program so I've never dealt with error in and error out function... Moreover, what is a log file exactly?
@Johnsold : Yes, I am building an array continously growing over time. Actually, my program stops saving data when you hit the "STOP" button, it doesn't write into a spreadsheet file through a period of time, that is something I eventually need to correct.
@LabJackSupport : I can try to reduce my time step, so far it's 100 ms. I have a problem with disconnecting the USB cable from the computer though : for no reason, if I just unplug the connection between the LabJack U6 and the computer, my power supply will just go providing 157 Volts! And for my experiment, this is something we don't want to have so we just leave it as it is now. Disabling some part of the program is a good idea, I can try it
    Thank you for your answers

  • Unexplained System Crashes While Running InDesign

I am running InDesign CS6 8.0.2 on a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9. InDesign launches just fine, and I'm not getting any error messages. But once in a while my system just stops responding. I can't even force quit applications. I have to just manually power down by holding the power button. I thought it might be a hard drive issue, but I recently replaced my stock HD with a SSD, and the problem persists. And by the way, there is no application crash or error report available. The system just freezes completely and I have no option but to power down.
The only common thread I can point to is that InDesign is running.
Does anyone have suggestions about how to understand what is happening? If InDesign is causing the system to freeze, could it be a plugin or extension issue?
I'm grateful for any support or ideas you might offer.

Hi Eugene, Thanks for offering to help. Here is some of the information you requested:
    Hardware Overview:
      Model Name:          MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro9,1
      Processor Name:          Intel Core i7
      Processor Speed:          2.6 GHz
      Number of Processors:          1
      Total Number of Cores:          4
L2 Cache (per Core):          256 KB
      L3 Cache:          6 MB
      Memory:          16 GB
      Boot ROM Version:          MBP91.00D3.B08
      SMC Version (system):          2.1f175
      Serial Number (system):          C02J604LF1G4
      Hardware UUID:          76824BFD-88A3-5D43-B6E0-15EA0F708A85
      Sudden Motion Sensor:
      State:          Enabled
    System Software Overview:
      System Version:          OS X 10.9 (13A603)
      Kernel Version:          Darwin 13.0.0
      Boot Volume:          Macintosh HD
      Boot Mode:          Normal
      Computer Name:          Andy’s MacBook Pro
      User Name:          Andy Johnston (AJ)
      Secure Virtual Memory:          Enabled
      Time since boot:          1:18
I don't know that I can do anything to reproduce the freeze. What happens usually is that I open InDesign and work on a file. When finished, I save my work, and move to another task in a different application (managing email in the Chrome browser, for example). At some point in the future and with no apparent action to initiate the crash, my system stops responding.
The crash has probably happened while I was using InDesign in the past, but most of the time I notice the system begin to lock up when I'm in the browser. I know, I know...maybe the browser is the culprit.
I did look at the Extension Manager and noticed there were quite a few warning icons. When I hover over them, I see the message "Extension may not function properly because it does not meet the dependency condition."
Does this information help track down the issue?

  • Lot of my apps are crashed when running just few mili seconds they started?

The Ipad seems to be ok.
I push the app icon. It seems to start. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.
When I'm able to get the app the screen goes to a black state for "miliseconds" (due what ?) and suddenly despairs and the home screen is back.
I try again and the problem is shown again.
It helped a little bit when I "erased" the apps. And instaled them again from my computer with a new sync operation by means of Itunes.
But after few hours the problem is back
The apps more suceptibles are UPAD, Notebook from Circus Ponies, Numbers, Notes and day after day are more with the same problem. Even mail app.
The system is very un stable and I'm pretty upset

It's too soon to blame it on the machine itself. At least two other things might be causing your problems:
    1. A Bad App ... Some app that you have installed and use all the time has become corrupted in some way that, over time, affects your OS. it's very tedious to find these, as you have to slowly, over time, isolate the problem.
Do a Reset to a nice, working system, then spend some time only using maybe half of the apps that you usually do. If you don't get the problem, start adding more apps until you do. If it happens right away, you start over but, this time, only use half the apps that you originally did. Repeat it all as needed until you think you know what the problem app is, then delete that one and, if you like, download a fresh copy of it.
    2. A Bad iOS Install ... If you decide this is the problem, then you basically start over by loading in a fresh copy of iOS. This is sort of the nuclear option, though; nice if it works, but leaving you with some serious unknowns if it doesn't (Do you still have a bad app? Did you get another messed-up install? Do you have a hardware problem?).
Finally the Tips & Troubleshooting section of your User's Guide has the whole range of things that you can try. You may well find that some of the other types of reset discussed in there, in addition to the 'hard reset' that you've been trying, might clear things up.

  • 1.4.1 and 1.3.1 blue screen system crash when running slide show

I have a new Toshiba Satelite X200-219 running Vista SP1. I have 30 Gb free space on C: and 4Gb RAM. Every time I run a slide show I get the blue screen of death after about 5 slides. I have swapped the original memory (2 GB) back in to see if it is corrupt memory but get the same result.
Is anyone else experiencing this or are there any known solutions?

temp6, temp7, temp8 are strange.... but because it's impossible reach these temps (+127 and +0) I think those sensors are not used or bad report data
if you think it's a overheating problem, you must log temps (sensord+rrdtool)
so you'll get the latest temps before the PC crashes

  • System requirements to run CS3 applications smoothly

Can somebody help me out with some specific system requirements to run the CS3 applications Photoshop and Illustrator together at the same time with work load smoothly.
I got a IBM Thinkpad T41 with P4 1,7ghz processor and 1gig memory, but im getting anoyed by the lag when running both Adobe programs and other applications like Lotus Notes 7, MS Word/PPT etc.
The system requirements Adobe gives are likely to be minimal to run the programs, but not with workload and other applications running on the background.
I ask this question because i need to convince my manager at work that i need a faster Thinkpad to do my work with ease.

Your big problem is not the ThinkPad T41 itself or even the processor, but rather your attempt to run any of the Creative Suite (much less in parallel with other memory-intensive applications) in 1GB of memory.
If you were simply to double the memory (to 2GB) in your existing system, you would probably see significant performance improvement. 3GB would be even better, although I don't believe the T41 supports anything above 2GB (not quite sure of that, but the T41 series goes back about two to three years now).
The newer dual core processors in conjunction with a "full boat" of memory (3GB, any more is not usable with 32-bit OS) would help a bit with the problem of concurrently running applications. If you were to buy a new notebook system, consider nothing less than a 2.4GHZ dual core processor. (Note, popular press notwithstanding, Vista really works a bit better in balancing use of dual core processors between multiple applications and background tasks. I am using Vista Business and Ultimate on four systems now, including one notebook and two desktops with 64-bit Vista, with no problems whatsoever.)
One other configuration issue you should seriously consider in configuring a new system would be choice of disk. 7200rpm drives in a notebook computer run rings around the 5400 and 4200rpm drives that are "standard" on many of these systems.

    Hi Teodorafrombc,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your computer is becoming unresponsive, you may want to see if specific applications are causing this behavior. Try using the Force Quit menu to check for unresponsive applications:
Using the Force Quit feature of OS X makes an application close, even when it is not responsive.
Important: Normally you should not need to force quit an app to close it. When an app is forced to quit, any unsaved changes to open documents are not saved, so try these methods to normally close the app first:
Choose Quit from the app menu. For example, in Safari, choose Safari > Quit Safari.
Choose Quit by right-clicking or control-clicking on an app's icon in the Dock
You can find the article with these steps here:
OS X: How to quit an unresponsive application using Force Quit
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3411
If your display is going blank or seems to be going to sleep unexpectedly, try these steps first:
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
You can find the article with these steps and more information here:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1573
If these steps don't resolve the issue, feel free to reply with more information about the symptoms you are experiencing.

After running Disk Defrag in a minimal environment using Drive Genius 3 my MacBook Pro only starts up in Verbose Mode.
I've done my searching on how to turn verbose mode on and off on the web and it gets me nowhere.
    Using

    Using
         sudo nvram boot-args=

I'm having the same issue but the solution suggested by prosoft doesn't work because that file des not exist.
Prosoft was able to help me.
First, FileVault is not reccomended and they are adding a FAQ to address that.  Next, they said to trash this file:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
and to restart.  It seemed to have worked for me.
If anyone has any other suggestions then I would be grateful.
    Many Thanks.
