System Migration Check up

Hi Friends,
We have planned to migrated our Production systems to a different hardware. Operating system and Database remains the same. Does SAP provides any Check on the system after this homogenous system migration ?

Hi,
If you have got Enterprise Support from SAP, you are eligible to get some feedback on the migration process and post migration tuning. For this you may need to raise an OSS message to SAP support.

OS/DB Migration Check Question

Hi,
I am planning an OS/DB Migration for a ECC 5 legacy production system that is now only used as a reference system. This system is currently on AIX/Oracle and will be moving to Windows/SQL and will just be as a reference system only. What I want to know is will we have to order a Migration Check as this isn't really a Productive system that needs moving?

So we could change the Client Role in scc4 to something other than production, i.e. Demo or Test and then do the migration that way?
The Migration Consultant is only needed to order the Migration Check so if this is not needed then any Basis person should be able to perform the migration.

Reconfiguring CHARM after System Migration

Hi,
We are going to migrate our existing Solman system to another system using system refresh, we have implemented CHARM which takes care of the Transport for our ECC and Portal Systems, my question is what needs to be done in the newly migrated system after the system refresh and what changes we need to make in our ECC System in order for CHARM to work in the newly migrated system.

We have DEV,QA and Prod in our existing landscape with charm is configured in the Solman. Our Prod is the main domain controller and solman is the secondary domain controller, can some one explain me what needs to be done in the configuration after the system migration.

Hi,
Only hostname/ipaddress and SID name will be changed for solution manager. So for solution manager back RFC in ECC and EP systems you need to change hostname/ipaddress and instance number.
From SMSY try to update/read ECC and EP systems data. Check it is working fine or not.

Points to be kept, (not a version migration) Migrating from one system to other
1. Review the objects in both the systems and ensure they dont clash or overlap.
2. May be they had different source systems and you need to carefully look at all the source system dependent objects and re assign the source system.
3. Performing transports will be the one of the options for the move; in that case collect the objects in logical order starting with the info objects, data targets, info sources, update rules finally queries, roles, workbooks.
4. Review the master data and also the ODS to ensure the data dont overwrite; better to have a system identifier for the master data objects.
5. For the transaction data, approach will be to go with the EDW approach
6. For the same of reconciliation purposes, suggest to keep the Regional system, if exists, within the same region system separate and for reporting purposes, use infosets and multi cubes rather than loading data to the same data targets.

System architecture check failed while adding a New Node in RAC

Hi Friends,
Environment:SUN Solris 10
Cluster Version:10.2.0.3
database Version:10.2.0.3.0
Due to H/W failure one of our RAC node(prod1) got formatted.
We have deleted the node(prod1) from RAC successfully.
But When i am again trying to add the node and checking prerequistes i am facing the below issue.
$ cd /software/oracle/product/crs/bin
$ ./cluvfy stage -pre crsinst -n prod1,prod2
Check: System architecture
Node Name     Available                 Required                  Comment
prod2        unknown                   64-bit                    failed
prod1        64-bit                    64-bit                    passed
Result: System architecture check failed.But issue is that prod2 is my active(running node), so how to resolve this issue?

Error in installing 11.5.5.35 in system utilities check

While installing the oracle applciations 11.5.5.35, during the system utilites check, it gives the following error, please help me in solving this error.

i have installed VC++ , MKS and gnumake before starting the installion. While runing the build_w32.bat, the result is coming sucessful. But in the prerequirement check error link is not available is coming. How to overcome this error?

Can someone help me with this following problem?
While installing 11i applications, its giving an error "System Utilities Check: Check system for make, ld, ar and cc" When I checked for these files, all the files are existing except for ld. How do I resolve this problem?

I hope the installation u r doing is on Windows platform. COpy ld,ar,cc,link,which utilities r under ur winnt\system32. Try to reinstall. & also in the path ensure that ur winnt\system32 & winnt r at the last. It will work. I hope this helps u.

System Migration Assistent - Migrating Vista-- Windows 7

When I receive Windows 7, can the ThinkVantage System Migration Assistant move current Vista settings to Windows 7 or does the utility only work within the same OS?

SPL document screening. Outcome of system/user checks

Could anyone explain the differece in the following four "outcome of system/user checks:
       SPL Check: OK (No SPL Entries Found)
1      SPL Check: Not OK (SPL Entries Found)
6      Status Check: OK (Not Blocked)
7      Status Check: Not OK (Blocked)

The answers to your questions could depend on several factors, including how the initial screening of partners was performed and whether or not the SPL services blocks incoming documents or not. The 'SPL Check" may be from using the simulation feature or it may be due to a lack of initial screening of a business partner. As you can see there are plenty of variables involved.
So the best answer I can provide is the following:
Go to 'help.sap.com' (leave off www).SAP Business Objects tab.
Select GRC solutions.
Select Global Trade Services.
Choose appropriate version, then select 'Application Help' in the desired language.
Use the search feature at top or the menu section at left to look up these processes and statuses.
This should help you some at least until someone else could perhaps provice a more specific answer to you here.

Open Activity Monitor, Show:>All Processes, sort on CPU%, see if anything using too much CPU% when this happens, click on Memory tab, do you have many Pageouts?
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
Check the S.M.A.R.T. status of the drive in Disk Utilty by highlighting the Drive & looking at the bottom of the window.

If you check your sql server error log folder you will see dump files created. You need to send those dump files to Microsoft for inspection because outside of microsoft product support the symbols for reading the dumps are not available without which it
wont be easy to find the issue.

In the meantime check if you are on the latest version of Service Pack and if not apply the latest service pack. Majority of these kind of assertions are bugs which are solved in Service Packs/Cumulative Updates.

System should check chepter id when i am creating the excise invoice.

when i am creating the excise invoice in J1IIN , system should check chapter ID is maintained are not for the material in J1ID.
if chapter id is not maintained in J1ID for the material, system should give error or warning message when i am creating the excise invoice in J1IIN.
Please help me out this issue.

In fact, when you are creating billing document, system will give a warning message that chapter id is not maintained for that material and the duty values will be zero in billing document.
As I dont have access to SAP, not sure on the warning message number. Try for a material without maintaining the chapter id in J1ID, note down the warning message number and convert it into an error message if possible.
Alternatively, you can try with the user exit J_1I7_USEREXIT_EXCISE_BEF_SAVE to meet your requirement.

Thanks for the article.
Now I want to do fresh installation of MKS toolkit and all other stuff for sucessfull installation of Oracle Application.
But during the installation of mks toolkit, I am unable to specify the path for installation i.e., c:\MKS , it is saying that " An existing installation is detected. The install location cannot be changed."
But I have uninstall it through control panel->add and remove programs and manually cleaned all the physical files but still error encountered.
Please guide me how to proceed .
